A Past Revealed Ch. 1
The powerful youkai looked across the fields that were his land as he stood on the porch of his home. He had a house on the tallest hill, allowing him the pleasure of looking over the land that was his. His servants were their of their own will, he didn't believe in slaves, which was something new in this feudal era. He watched as a young human girl came to him and presented him with a note. He thanked her and went inside of his house to read it.
The Dog Demon's name was InuTashiro, but most friends called him "Shiro" for short. He had a tall lean body, like most demons. One would not think of him to have much strength unless they had fought him. He had the long silver hair that was a trait for most of the dog demons. His eyes were golden with flecks of dark green in them. The one thing that made him different from most of the dog demons were to two triangular ears on the top of his head. He was one of the few with the signifying ears.
InuTashiro had once thought them a curse when he was young, women always wanting to pet them. Though now at his age they were a blessing. He loved his ears, they were one of the most precious parts of him. He was always careful with them and when he would walk they would always be up and alert, showing them to all who walked by.
As Shiro opened the letter he noticed the crest that was on the seal. The letter was from the ruler of the Western Lands, InuTaisho. The youkai had long been friends with him and the Lord of the West had been nice enough to give him this land to work and control as he had seen fit. He owed everything to InuTaisho. The letter read...
Lord InuTashiro,
I wish to inform you of my mate's pregnancy. I would be glad if you and your mate would stay with us at my home for a few days. Another reason my calling you is of a battle with the dragons. I wish for you to help lead my armies against them.

When finished reading the letter. Shiro called his head of staff and informed him of their plans to visit the Lord of the Western Lands. The Rabbit youkai bowed and took off to make the necessary arrangements.

Shiro awoke the morning after they had returned from the Lord of the West's castle, in his bed next to his own mate. He had been extremely lucky to find such a wonderful woman. Yes, she was a human priestess. They had been mates for only a year now and she was in the seventh month of her own pregnancy caring his pups. They had met in a village during the great war against the dog demons, he had been injured and was cared for by this strange priestess. She had nursed him back to health and had joined him to help defeat their enemies, and then had spent years traveling with him.
"Morning, mate" Shiro said to his beloved as she stirred next to him.
"Hmm, Good Morning..." was all she got out.
Shiro leaned in and claimed her lips with such a passion that it made her think back to their mating night. As he ran his tongue along her lips demanding that she open, his hands grabbed her breasts and started stroking her nipples. Once she opened her mouth she let her mate's tongue explore her wet cavern. She reached down and stroked his arousal. The newly mated had never worn anything to sleep in ever since their joining.

Shiro got up and dressed in his attire a dark blue hakama, a white under kimono, a gray haori untucked draped down, and a gray sash secured it to his body. Then, pulling a katana off the wall of his bedroom he slid it into his sash. He turned around and saw his mate dressing and couldn't stop himself from licking his lips. She was so beautiful, even pregnant her creamy white skin and curves all in the right places. InuToshiro had to go outside to calm himself down from his morning passion.
He walked along the path through his mate's garden which she loved so much. If he ever wanted to find her this is where she would have been. He sat on a wooden bench by a pond and watched the fish swim around, while he thought to himself. While he was at InuTaisho's home he was introduced to his wife Izayoi. Shiro had been able to tell that Izayoi indeed was pregnant and knew right then, as he had known when his pups were conceived, that the pup would have a hard life being a hanyou. InuTaisho was a proud demon, one that could care less what others thought of him. He could be ruthless and then he could be the most caring of individuals. They had both become great friends during the war. With InuTaisho's armies and Shiro's tactical knowledge and skills in planning, they were unstoppable.

On a night of the full moon the InuToshiro house was full of noise. For one you could hear the screaming of a woman giving birth. Second, you could hear the booming voice of the demon father trying to command his servants. It was hopeless, Shiro had soon given up trying to get things under control. He let the midwifes do what they needed, however his mate had requested that he be with her during the birth.
Shiro was standing beside her everything was going well when his mate started going into convulsions. Everyone seemed to panic at once. The baby had yet to be born and his mate he could tell was dying. Her last words to him were never uttered as she lost all control of her body and soon was dead on her bed.
All the Lord InuToshiro could manage was an eerie howl over the death of his beloved mate. In all hopes, he would soon be joining her in the afterlife. When a mate died the other was soon to follow unless he had a will to live.

It was days later and InuToshiro was still alive, but just barely. He wouldn't sleep, ear, or even drink. All he would do was sit in his departed mate's garden and stare at the fish in the water. A servant came up to him and delivered a message that he had a guest awaiting in the main room.
When the Lord entered he saw his friend the Lord of the Western Lands. InuTaisho went over to comfort his dying friend. He asked what had happened and the story was told of the difficulty of giving birth to his pups. Shiro didn't care of formality as he hugged his dear friend crying on his shoulder.
It was when InuTaisho noticed the crying sobs had stopped that he moved away from Shiro's grasp. Only to catch the youkai as his dead body fell to the floor. The demon had finally died out of the grief of losing his mate and his unborn pups. InuTaisho laid the dog eared lord onto the wooden floor of the room. Quickly pulling Tenseiga from its sheath and destroying the demons of the afterlife. Bringing his friend from the netherworld, InuTaisho sheathed the Tenseiga and waited until InuToshiro regained consciousness.
The dog demon Lord InuToshiro opened his eyes. Blinking and remembering how he never thought he would see the light of day again he sat up off the floor. He soon realized that his friend had saved his life and was soon in a heated rage.
"Why did you bring me back?" Shiro asked, breathing heavily. "I only wished to be with my mate and pups in the afterlife. Why did you deny me this?"
"I did not wish to deny you anything. I wish for your protection of my mate for I will soon go into battle and I fear I shall not return. I regret to rip you away from your family, but I still have need of you here." The Lord of the Western Lands replied.
InuTaisho motioned for Shiro to sit next to him. As he did, the great dog Lord began to explain his need in having Shiro protect his mate and future child. He wished for Shiro to watch over the child in case he did not return from battle. When all was said and done Shiro got in front of the Lord of the Western Lands and took his sword, sheath and all, and laid it in front of him.
"I, Lord InuToshiro, do hereby pledge my life and services to you, Lord InuTaisho of the West." Shiro finished and dared to look into the golden eyes of his most valued friend.
InuTaisho walked out of his friend's house and into the calm night of spring. As he walked he thought of what had just transpired and hoped that Izayoi would not meet the same fate as the mate of the man he had just saved.
