Disclamer: I don't own any of the InuYasha characters, sadly. :(
So I got another great review! I am so so so happy!
I'm thinking that I might actually be able to finish this story in a decent amount of time, dont you? I hope you like this chapter. Its gonna have a lot of thoughts from both Kagome and InuYasha. There will be some conversations going on, though, so don't worry. :)
Kagome sat at the circular dinner table between her dad and Damian. InuYasha sat across from her and Arya sat between Damian and Delilah. Arya was swtiching between feeding Delillah and herself. Kagome helped by cutting Damian's steak for him.
"Did you cook this yourself, Arya?" Kagome asked after savoring another bite of her well done steak. She had always hated rare, it was too bloody. She was disgusted to see that her dad liked it, and she bugged him about it for a few minutes when they first started eating. InuYasha had his medium well done, so it was only slightly pink in the middle. Arya had hers the same as Kagome, and she gave half of her steak to Damian. Delilah was barely 10 months, so she was eating banana-flavored baby food. More like throwing it around. Her face was covered in the stuff.
"Yeah, I used to be a chef when I lived in America. I owned a 5 star restaurant, Leda's Place, named after Helen of Troy's mother. Leda is also my maiden name. Anyway, I loved cooking and my friend, Clark, used to own the place, but it was destroyed in a fire. I bought it and re-did it. Now, my sister, Serena, runs it. She's doing better than I did, surprisingly." Arya smiled remembering her sister and started talking to Kagome's father about inviting her for a visit leaving Kagome to her own thoughts.
I wonder if that kiss meant anything to InuYasha... It was probably not his first kiss. It wasn't mine either, but no boy- man- had ever effected her the same way. The kisses had all been good enough... They just weren't... great. None of them had made her feel any sort of shock or tingle. Kagome looked up from her plate and began staring thoughtfully at InuYasha. What is it about him? I know theres something strange, but I can't put my finger on it. How come I always see a flicker of... something... on his head? I can never quite figure out what it is... InuYasha suddenly looked up and caught Kagome staring. She blushed and looked down at her food again.
InuYasha was surprised that Kagome had been staring at him. InuYasha knew that Kagome liked him, judging by her scent and behaviors, but there was something odd about her... She knows what I am!
No, you idiot. Thats not possible, came his inner voice. He began arguing with himself.
If she doesn't know about me... then why else is she staring at me like that?
Cuz she likes you, dummy.
She can't like me.
Yeah, she can. Why else would she kiss you?
Cuz I started it.
Yeah, well if she didn't want it, she coulda pushed you away.
"InuYasha?" InuYasha snapped out of his debate with himself, and looked at Arya sheepishly.
"Sorry, Arya. I guess I was kinda... distracted." He smiled, looking sheepish again, and pushed his empty plate away. "What were you saying?""Well, InuYasha, I was asking if you'd take Kagome for a ride, so she can try out her new horse. Ciaran, am I right?" At Kagome's nod, she continued. "I'm sure Kagome's a good rider, but I don't think she knows her way around very well. Would you take her tomorrow? I could pack a picnic for the two of you." She added coaxingly.
"InuYasha, please?" Kagome asked looking hopeful. "I really want a chance to ride Ciaran. Pleeeeease?" Kagome gave him a big puppy face, and he rolled his eyes.
"Fine. But make sure the picnic at least has ramen." Arya and Patrick laughed at this, InuYasha's love for ramen was a known thing in the house. He loved potato chips too, but ramen was his favorite.
"Of course, I'm stocked up for a months worth of ramen... which'll turn into about a week's worth, seeing as how you can't stop eating it." InuYasha grimaced and crossed his arms making Arya and Kagome smile.
"But first, InuYasha, would you take Kagome on a walk? I wanted her to see the river. I thought she might like it, and I don't want her to go on alone." InuYasha nodded at Patrick's order.
"I'll help clean up, then I'll show Kagome-" InuYasha was interrupted by Arya shaking her head.
"No, InuYasha. I think you should go now. It'll take a little while to clean up, and if you do it, it'll be dark by the time you can get out. Even now, its getting a little dark. It's only 8, and it only gets dark at about 9:30, so I guess you two can stay out for an hour or so." She smiled then shooed her step-daughter and godson away. "Now, go outside and have fun. Make sure you show her the waterfall, InuYasha!" She called.
InuYasha and Kagome walked side by side out the door, but as soon as they made it outside, they started laughing. Between bouts of laughter, Kagome got out, "You know, I'd think that she wanted us to get together. If I wasn't smarter-" InuYasha cut Kagome off by giving her another sweet kiss. This time, Kagome brought her hands up around his neck and held him close. She felt his arms wrap around her waist and she felt a slight pressure near her abdomen. All this combined caused her to feel those tingles she had been thinking about all through dinner. She felt his tongue flick against her bottom lip and she gasped at the sensation allowing him to enter her mouth. His tongue rubbed along hers, then explored her mouth. She got curious and began rubbing her tongue along his, as well. She then began searching his mouth. She gasped and pulled back when she felt sharp canine teeth and thought she felt claws digging into her back.
She looked up at InuYasha and gasped. He saw a flicker of dog ears on his head, but they were only there for a second before they dissappeared. InuYasha stepped back from her, but still held one arm around her waist. Both of them were still trying to catch their breath, but InuYasha managed to say, "Well... would you like to, ah, see the waterfall, now?" Kagome nodded and they walked into the woods.
Neither of them noticed the pale face in the 3rd story window, nor the angry, jealous glare that was shown on the face.
Whew. I couldn't figure out how to end this chapter without making it too long. And that kissing scene took a lot outta me. If I write that nicely on kissing scenes, I wonder how I'd do on more... uh, X-rated scenes... lol.
