Disclamer: I don't own any of the InuYasha characters.
Okay, so first I want to thank you all for reviewing my story, it really made me happy. :D
Second, I wanted to thank bettychan for helping me notice that Kagome's dad shouldnt be named Koharu since he was from Ireland. And Koharu does kinda sound like a girls name. Anyway, I decided to name him Patrick instead. Thats a nice, strong Irish name, dontcha think? Lol.
I guess I'll get to the story now. Thanks. :)
"Hey, InuYasha?" Kagome puffed as she climbed up another flight of stairs. "Will we ever make it to my room? I could tell this house was big... But does it really need four flights of stairs?"
InuYasha just laughed as he led her up the stairs. "Don't worry. You'll get used to it. In a month or so." He looked back and gave a crooked smile causing Kagome to smile back. "Anyway, we don't have to go up anymore stairs. This is your floor." He grandly opened the wooden door that led to Kagome's hallway and she gasped. Again.
"Wait... are you saying that I get this whole floor?" Kagome looked incredulously at InuYasha.
He laughed. Again. "No, you don't get a whole floor, dummy." Kagome's eyes narrowed and he ignored her. "The room across from yours is mine. I offered to find a new place, but your stepmom insisted that I stay here."
"Why do you live here anyway?" Kagome followed InuYasha looking questioningly at his back. He opened a large, dark oak door and stood aside before answering her.
Kagome twirled and stared in awe at her overly large bedroom. There was a queen size bed in the center, between two large windows that overlooked a garden filled with all kinds of exotic flowers. The walls were a deep blue with black wood furniture that matched her bed. There were two nightstands on both sides of her bed, one having a clock and lamp, the other a vase filled with fragrant lillies and roses. There was also an oak chest at the foot of her bed decorated with carvings of flowers and leaves. The desk next to a door on the side held a laptop computer and a lamp. There was also a T.V. in a corner on the opposite side of her desk with a Wii, a GameCube, a Playstation 3, and an Xbox 360. There was a cabinet next to the T.V. that Kagome was sure held the games. The bed had a black quilt with small, delicate embroided leaves and flowers to match the chest.
She turned to InuYasha as he answered her. ""Arya's my god-mom. She's had me for a while now. My mom died when I was a little boy. She was pregnant with my sister, but there were complications. The baby was strangled with its umbillical cord and my mom died giving birth. My dad was really distraught afterwards, but my brother, Sesshomaru, was already living on his own when my mom was pregnant with my sister, so my dad was just stuck with me. He couldn't handle it, so he sent me to live with Arya. I've been here ever since."
"Aww, InuYasha, I'm so sorry. I kinda understand what you're going through, but I didn't lose my parents. Not permanently anyway." She walked over to InuYasha, and gently, hesitantly hugged him. She only held him for a second or two before InuYasha cleared his throat and gently but firmly pushed her away. When she pulled back, his face was slightly red.
"Uh... It's nothing. I've gotten over it, though for a while there I was pretty upset too. My mom was a good mother. I miss her a lot. Uhh... can we switch to a new subject, please?" InuYasha was starting to get uncomfortable with the whole mom thing. He usually didn't open up to people that easily, but there was something about Kagome that he could easily trust. She was so open and warm and... indescribable.
"Okay... I love this room. Is your's this big?" Kagome looked at InuYasha with a big smile on her face. "Can... can I see your room?" She had such an innocent expression on her face, that InuYasha had to allow her to see his.
"I s'pose. C'mon." He led her across the hall to his room. His walls were a deep red, as well as the quilt on his king size bed. His nightstands and other furniture was black, too. His room was exactly like Kagome's, except it was red instead of blue. He didn't have a vase of flowers on his nightstand, either.
"Who are they, InuYasha? Are they your parents?" Kagome walked to the nightstand and picked up a black frame with a picture of a woman, a man, and two little boys. The woman was smiling as she watched her husband and his sons play together in a sandbox. The older son was about 5 and looked a lot like InuYasha, except his eyes looked a little guarded. He also had blue streaks across his cheek. InuYasha looked only to be about 2. Kagome smiled at the little boy. The man was the exact image of both Sesshomaru and InuYasha, but he had different markings on his cheeks. They were building a sandcastle and had sand all over themselves. All together, it was a beautiful scene. Kagome smiled again and set the picture down. She turned to find InuYasha mere inches away from her.
"Yeah, those are my parents. And the older boy, the jerk-looking one, is my brother Sesshomaru. He was my best friend when I was little, but after I was about 10, he stopped liking me. It didn't bother me though... he's just a dumb jerk..." His voice was soft, and gruff as he stared into Kagome's eyes. His gaze dropped to her lips for a fraction of a second before he started lowering his head. Kagome closed her eyes and felt his lips press gently against hers. All at once, she felt shocks shooting from her lips to the tips of her fingers and toes straight back. Suddenly they heard someone knocking on the door. They quickly pulled apart and Arya stepped in eyeing them as if she knew exactly what was going on.
"Hey, kids. I just came up to tell you two that dinner was done. If you arent hungry..." She let the sentence hang and turned to leave. Kagome felt her flaming face and was relieved to see that InuYasha's face wasn't quite as red as hers felt, but red enough.
She smiled weakly, embarrassed. "D'you think we should go down to dinner? If not... they'll think somethings up." She looked down at her fidgeting fingers and remembered the feel of his lips against hers. Then again, she thought with a little smile and even redder cheeks, maybe we could stay up here...
He looked just as embarrassed as he had the same thought, and said, "Yeah, I think we should go down. I don't want any rumors to start." He smiled at her and hesitantly reached for her hand. When she didn't pull away, he smiled again.
"You know, InuYasha, I'm suddenly ravenous." She grinned at him as he laughed.
Okay, I'm trying to make my stories longer... I liked this one. It was like... nervous teenagers. lol
Review, please. :)
