Inuyasha tried to swallow the lump in his throat. Had she seriously just asked him that? He didn't have his demon ears tonight, so he knew his hearing was off. She couldn't possibly have meant she wanted…

“Wh-what??” He stammered out, leaning away from her.

“You did not mishear me, Inuyasha.” She clutched his hand, then placed a kiss on his knuckles. “I wish to lie with you as a woman.”

He watched her in a mixture of shock and horror as she placed light kisses down to the tips of his human fingers. He couldn't stop the memory of Kagome, running her fingers along his demon claws. There was no hint of disgust or displeasure; she simply loved every part of him. Kikyou was mimicking the same movements, but he knew deep down that if he had claws instead of nails she would not be as eager. She would only express this tenderness to his human traits. She turned to look at him.

“Your eyes… They have such a magnificent color to them. Violet. I always imagined you would look this way.”

No, his eyes were not violet. They were golden. Like honey, as Kagome frequently told him. She never shut up about his damn eyes. How beautiful they were, how jealous she was of them, and on the few occasions where she felt bold, how they turned her on. One day out of the month his eyes lost that hue in favor of a darker one. These were not the color of his eyes.

He hated this. Although she was being forward and presenting herself to him to take, the knowledge that she preferred this side of him left a copper taste in his mouth. He felt repulsed.

Kagome had never made him feel these things. True they had never taken their relationship to the level that Kikyou was offering, they had come close. Frustratingly close. It was a battle between wanting physical contact with her, the need of feeling flesh on flesh, and wanting to keep his distance because the agony of being unable to continue their trysts was driving him insane. It was the most beautiful torture he could imagine. He had begun to wonder if he was a masochist.

He was not having this struggle with the cold woman in his arms. The only thing he was fighting now was the urge to bare his teeth at her. 'Oh yeah, I don't have my damn fangs tonight. She would probably just examine and admire my fucking teeth!'

“Kikyou I can't-“

Just then he heard the rustle of the mat and the sound of footsteps making their way into the hut. He let out a sigh of relief. He was never happier to have company. Without his senses, he was unable to tell if it was friend or foe, but if it got this damn cold bitch off of him he would gladly welcome either.

~.~

His friends had made their way into Kaedes hut all at once. Something seemed off about them. They had come back quiet late and seemed to be buzzing with energy. They had certainly left dragging their feet, now they appeared to be rejuvenated. The fox looked so pleased it seemed as if happiness was radiating off of him.

Kaede had returned at just the right time, forcing Kikyou to untangle herself from his body. The old hag had been called out earlier to help assist the birth of one of the village woman, and judging from her ragged appearance, it had been an intense, but perhaps not long, labor. Kikyou had sneered when her sister had made her presence known, and tried to persuade Inuyasha to continue their activity outside. He adamantly refused, telling her that it was a risk to be out in the open on nights like this. She had turned her head in anger and disgust and walked away from him. For the first time since this nonsense started he felt relieved.

Now, he sat with his back against the wall as he rested. He couldn't sleep on the night of the new moon, not here anyway. So he let his eyes drift close and his thoughts wander. It took no time at all before they came to Kagome.

It had been just the two of them. Inuyasha had been in a foul mood all day. He had gone to the other side of the well to get Kagome when he saw that wimpy brat following her around. He saw that she tried to brush him off, but the boy seemed relentless. Inuyasha was just about to make his presence known when the bastard leaned forward and placed a kiss on Kagomes cheek before he turned to leave. HIS Kagomes cheek. He felt a growl rise deep from his throat.

The girl jumped at hearing his primal sound. Inuyasha grabbed her by the arm to spin her in his direction.

“What the fuck was that?!” He demanded, fangs bared.

“Hey! What the heck Inuyasha! What are you talking about?”

“That right there! That fucking bastard kissed you!”

“Hojo? Oh, that was just a friendly kiss on the cheek. He didn't mean anything by it.”

“Like Hell he didn't!”

“What does it matter what he wants Inuyasha? Why do you care who is interested in me?”

“What kind of stupid fucking question is that!”

“Its not stupid, stupid!” She seethed. Biting her tongue and yanking her arm away she looked him square in the eye.

“It was just a friendly kiss, between friends. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. Honest.” She turned her body to head into the house.

His clawed hand reached out to grab hers, stopping her in her tracks.

“Then why don't you ever kiss me like that?”

“Wh-what?”

“Well, were friends after all, right?”

“Right…”

“Then you should show me the same courtesy as that bastard.”

“Inuyasha…”

“Unless it was something more than a friendly kiss.”

“Ugh! How many times do I have to keep telling you it wasn't!”

“Well then. I'm waiting.” He said, arrogance lacing his tone. Had he not been so sure she would have ran, he would have released her hand to cross his arms. She approached him with small, unsteady steps.

“Oh..okay…” She answered shakily. She stood on tip toes as she leaned into him. She placed a gentle, quick kiss on his right cheek, then backed away.

“There! See-“

Inuyasha pulled her forward, bringing her body closer to his. “What are you doing?”

“Im going to do the same.” He supplied, as he put his vacant hand on the small of her back to keep her in place.

“Eh?!” She squeaked out, panicked. She felt his nose rub against her check, heard his sharp intake of breath as he caught her scent. His kiss was firmer, and lingered. It felt hot where his lips had been.

He looked her in the eyes.

“That was a kiss between friends.” He said in a husky voice. Kagome nodded her head.

“And this… is not.” He leaned down and captured her lips. She gasped in surprise, giving him the opening he needed. He ran his tongue over hers, reveling in the sound of her moans. All it took was one taste of her to know he was addicted. He could never turn back from her honeyed mouth ever again. He told himself in that moment, he wouldn't deny the pleasure of hearing her whimper should she ever want this again. The kiss had altered between slow and frenzied, but always passionate. When they broke apart, he leaned his forehead against hers, as they both panted for air. He allowed himself to become engulfed in the sweet scent of her arousal. He was sure nothing in his life could be better.

There were awkward kinks after their first encounter, and it took him being forceful to make her overcome her shyness. The bitch wouldn't even look him in the eye! He had to hook a finger under her chin just to make eye contact. She bit her bottom lip under his scrutiny. Unable to control himself, he quickly took over the job for her, claiming it as his own. She sighed under his ministrations. The second encounter had validated her fears. They both wanted this. Each time, each kiss was better than the last. He couldn't get enough of his bitch.

Inuyasha hit his head against the wall. Damn it. Now he was fucking rock hard thinking about Kagome again. He could swear he could almost smell her he wanted her so badly. `Yup. I'm definitely a masochist. Why else would I fucking do this to myself?'

~.~

Kagome couldn't contain her smile the next morning. This was the best she had felt since she had returned home. The sky seemed a brighter blue, the birds seemed to sing happily, and Jiro-

Well, not even Jiro was going to spoil this good mood! She hummed as he strode towards her in angry, determined steps.

“Where the hell were you last night?!”

“Eh?”

“I said, where the hell were you last night?”

“I was…uhhh…”

“You cant just fucking disappear for a night Kagome!”

“How did you even know I was gone?”

“I, uh.” He stammered, flustered by her question. He couldn't very well say that he had gone looking for her; that because she had been so preoccupied the last few days he had missed her.

“I had something I wanted to ask you.” He said finally, his voice gruff.

“Oh? What was it?” She tried, hoping to change the subject.

“It doesn't matter now! Forget it! What were you doing?”

`Damn. Didn't work.'

“Don't worry about me, I can handle myself!” She said with a smile. “Besides, I wasn't alone. I was with friends.” She offered encouragingly.

“Why would that make me worry less!”

“What is all the shouting out here?” Mama asked. Kagome had not heard her make her way over.

“Oh, Mama! I'm sorry if I worried you about last night! I just didn't get a chance to-“

“Oh that's quite alright dear.” She said with a smile. “I knew exactly where you were.”

“You did!”

“You did!?”

“Of course dear! I saw you during your target practice the other day. And I noticed an increase in your groceries. I simply put two and two together.”

“I'm sorry, I'm really lost here.” Jiro said, frustrated. Wasn't this woman aware of the danger? What in the hell did Kagomes bow and groceries have to do with her running out in the middle of the night?

“We apologize for getting you in the middle of this. Please, don't worry about Kagome. She has a good head on her shoulders.” She stated.

“But that doesn't explain-“

“Jiro… that is Kagomes story, should she decide to tell you. Now dear, did you get enough rest? I there anything you need? A hot bath perhaps?” She did not care about social niceties. She was thrust right back into the role of the mother who must pamper her baby who had worked too hard.

“No mama, Im fine.”

“Good. Then you can tell me all about it later. I'm off to the store. I just made some snacks. Help yourself!” And just as quickly as she had floated in, Mama left.

“Well?” He grunted at her, arms crossed.

“Well what?”

“Tell me the story.” Jiro demanded.

“Mmm. Sorry. Cant.” Kagome answered, turning in search of the snacks.

“Oi! How can you-“

“I'm sorry Jiro, but really, I can't. But I can tell you that nothing is the matter, I'm not hurt or putting anyone in danger and its nothing illegal. It's just not something I can share.”

“Does this… does this have anything to do with why you were so upset before?” He asked, his voice small. This was personal, but he was dying to know.

“…Yes, it does. But it's a good development. I'm not going to go back to how I was, so relax!”

“And you need you bow and food for this, whatever it is you can't tell me?” He arched an eye brow.

“Yep.” She turned her back and entered the house. He twitched from irritation and bewilderment.

“What the fuck are you doing! Kagome!”

It seemed like an eternity before the sun had made its way into the sky. Inuyasha was on pins and needles, awaiting the familiar pulse that would bring back his demon instincts. He wanted to go outside and smell the scent of the morning dew, hear the birds chirping merily.

He wanted out of this fucking hut.

The fox was snoring. Kikyou seemed too close. The slayer was mumbling in her sleep. The cat was purring. Kagome was invading his mind. It was all too much. He felt trapped and cornered.

He needed to run. He wanted to feel the dirt under his feet and the wind through his hair. He wanted to get away from everyone and take down Naraku by himself. He wanted to put all this crap behind him so he could see Kagome again. He was tired of obligations and promises. He was exhausted from guilt and putting himself last. He was reaching his limit.

When his dog ears returned they twitched at the new, improved sounds. He released the breath he had been holding while the transformation took place. Just then, it hit him.

Something wasn't right. Rather, something was too right.

That smell. Wild flowers. It was the scent that drove him to distraction, haunted his dreams, healed his heart…

He could smell Kagome.

It was faint, but it was here. He knew it. He shot up as his eyes moved over the group. They all slept so peacefully, when he could smell Kagome. He could fucking smell his woman!

He growled at the inhabitants.

“Inuyasha?!” They asked, suddenly alert, rubbing sleep from their eyes. “Do you have any idea what time-“

“Where is she?” He demanded, claws digging into the sides of Kaedes hut.

“Where is who, Inuyasha?” the monk asked.

“Where is my bitch?” That's when they saw it. His eyes flared between gold and red. He was battling to control his demon.

“Inuyasha… Kagome is not here… take it easy.”

“Don't fucking lie to me. I can smell her scent. You're hiding her from me.” He bared his teeth, his fangs elongated.

“No one is hiding anyone, Inuyasha. Please, calm down.”

“You smell the strongest. You have her scent all over you.” He lunged at Shippo, grasping him by the tail. He raised him up to meet his red stained eyes.

“Where the fuck is my bitch?”
