Inuyasha sat on the cold ground looking out over a lake he and Kagome had found just days before. This place this very place is where they finally told their love to one another. And just like that, Naraku took it all away. The final battle oh he remembered it so well.

 

FLASHBACK

“Inuyasha look out”! Kagome yelled. Just in time Inuyasha saw the tentacle and dodged it. Sango and Miroku weren't much help as Naraku' s demons had them surrounded. Kagura, Kanna, and Kohaku were fighting against Naraku as well, Naraku' s control having been broken.

“Naraku this time you die”! Inuyasha yelled as he ran towards the evil hanyou. But as he charged Naraku shot a powerful energy blast at him, though he dodged it easily.

“Losing your touch Naraku?” he asked. “That missed me by a mile”. But Naraku's over confident smirk still remained.

Then Inuyasha heard it. The small “OH” of surprise and the thud. He turned to see his Kagome lying on the ground blood starting to pool around her. He wanted nothing more than to run to her. Comfort her, but he had to take care of Naraku first. Now filled with rage that surprised even Naraku himself, Inuyasha attacked killing him with one shot.

“NO! This was not how I planned this was not how it was supposed to be”! With those words Naraku died. Inuyasha sheathed the tessuiga before running to the injured girl. Her eyes were glazed and unfocused, blood falling from her chest.

“Kagome please you've just got to live. You've just got to”. As he said these words to her, her eyes focused a little and she smiled.

“Don't worry Inuyasha I'll come back to you. I promise. I love you.”

With that he felt her slip away leaving him alone. Tears pressed into his eyes and he didn't care who saw. He gave a long painful howl to the Kami's above so even they would know his pain.

 

END FLASHBACK

 

As he remembered this day the tears came back, along with the stabbing pain in his heart. And he could of sworn for a second he felt her arms wrap around him as she whispered goodbye, not forever but for now.
