Inuyasha still hadn't moved from that spot by the lake. Tears he couldn't control slipped down his cheeks as he continued to pray that this was a dream. That he would wake up with Kagome in his arms. But deep down he knew this was real. That he would soon have to face life without her. Something he really didn't want to do.

He was so involved with his thoughts that he never heard the demon approach him. Even if he had, he probably wouldn't have cared. He'd just get to see Kagome sooner right?

“Inuyasha why do you grieve so for a worthless human?” “There are plenty more where she came from.” Inuyasha turned to look at the demon. He was tall and had fiery red hair, with eyes to match, and Inuyasha could sense a lot of power radiating from him. If he wanted a fight, this wouldn't be easy.

“Don't worry hanyou I don't wish to fight you.” “My name is Kyromasuyai, and I only wish to talk with you.”

“Why do you want to talk to me?” Inuyasha asked tentatively.

“Inuyasha that young woman, Kagome was her name, well anyway she was not supposed to die in that battle.” “Even the fates themselves did not foresee her demise.” “She still had mush to do on this earth Inuyasha, lives she was to save, a family she was to have.”

“Get with the point or are you going to do nothing but remind me of her and what could have been?” Inuyasha yelled.

“Inuyasha when someone dies too early, demon or mortal, the Kami's have no place for them.” “No place for their souls to rest”. “So they float aimlessly in the mortal world watching the ones they love suffer and grieve their loss”. “It's like purgatory without having sinned.”

Inuyasha was stunned “Are you telling me even in death Kagome is being tortured?!”

The demon looked grim “Yes Inuyasha that is what I'm telling you.” “But there is one way you can save her and prove your love at the same time.”

“Well what is it!?” Inuyasha yelled.

“You really want to do this?” “Because if you do not succeed then her soul will be taken to hell for eternity.”

“Yes of course I want to do this, and I will not fail. I wont! Inuyasha said confidently.

The demon smiled. “Good because that is exactly what I wanted to hear.”

With that the world around Inuyasha started to spin. He sunk to his knees as all went black with the final words “Kagome, I'll save you, don't give up on me.”
