[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Unknown to Sarah she had not only fallen into a mine, but she had also fallen back in time. She was no longer in North America, but to the complete other side of the world….Japan. As she lay sleeping she was discovered by a hanyou. InuYasha cautiously approached the motionless body. Realizing she was still alive he knelt down by her side and decided he should get her back to Kiade.
Upon his return he was met with many questions from his friends and neighbors about the girl. “I just found her!” he barked loudly. “I don't know any more than you do.” He replied frustrated with them.
At that moment Kagome was returning from the future when she approached the group of people. She worked her way to the center where she found Kiade giving the girl a once over before asking InuYasha to take her inside of her hut. She looked down at the blonde haired girl and quickly kneeled beside Kiade.
“Where did she come from?” Kagome asked her.
“InuYasha found her in the forest.” Kiade replied. “She has taken a bump to the head, but other than that I think she is going to be just fine.”
InuYasha walked over and with Kiade's permission with a nod picked the lifeless girl up and took her inside the hut. The others followed him inside while the villagers returned to their daily lives. Kagome helped Kiade clean the scratches on the girl.
“Is it possible that this strangely dress girl came from you time?” Sango asked.
“I don't think so,” Kagome replied. “I think she is an American.”
“What is an Ame..ican?” InuYasha asked curiously.
“An American is some one from America. It is another country across the ocean.” Kagome replied.
Kagome tried to explain that there many other countries in the new world of the future. She received some very doubtful looks from the others but they new Kagome's world was very different from their own. Everyone patiently awaited her return to consciousness. Their minds full of questions for the new girl.

Sarah opened her eyes and found herself face to face with a girl dressed in a green and white school uniform with long black hair and deep brown eyes. She struggled to sit up realizing she had a terrible head ache. `I must be dreaming.' Sarah thought to herself.
“How are you feeling?” the girl asked.
Sarah looked around and it seemed she was in a small wooden hut of some type. `That's it. I am dreaming. I must have passed out in the woods and I am dreaming.' Sarah tried to persuade herself. “My head is killing me.” She replied. “Who are you?”
“My name is Kagome.” The girl answered. “What is your name? Where are you from?” Kagome asked as she began to pour hot water into a small ceramic bowl.
“Tell me where I am first.” Sarah stated.
“Well that's kind of complicated, but I can tell from your clothes you are not from around here. Here drink this. It will help your head.” Kagome said as she handed her the small ceramic bowl.
Sarah slowly sipped the steaming liquid from the bowl. It was bitter but her head was hurting bad enough she could stand it as long as it would give her some relief. Once she had drunk half of the bowl she noticed her head ache was subsiding and she began to feel much better. “My name is Sarah. I am from Galley Hollar.”
“Alabama?” Kagome looked confused. “Is that in the US?”
“Yeah, why?” Sarah asked.
“Because you are now in feudal Japan, in the future Tokyo will be a bustling city right here where we sit.” Kagome answered.
“Feudal Japan,” Sarah answered. “I must have hit my head hard.”
“Did you crawl out of the well?” Kagome asked.
“No there wasn't a well.” Sarah replied. “Where did you find me?”
“Under the sacred tree,” Kagome answered. “You were passed out and some of the villagers brought you back here to Kiade.”
“Who is Kiade?” Sarah asked. And what was going on?
“She is a priestess. She also has many remedies for those who are sick. That is why the villagers brought you here.” Kagome answered.
Just then an older lady with gray hair entered the hut. She was dressed as a priestess in white and red. She wore an eye patch over one eye. “I see our visitor has awakened. How are you feeling dear?”
“Better since I drank that Kagome made for me.” Sarah said looking up at the old lady. “Thank you for all you have done for me, but I have to get home.” Sarah stood up, her head started swimming.
“You should have more rest.” Kiade said. “You took quite a hit to the head.”
“I'll be fine.” Sarah insisted and began to walk out of the hut.
When she stepped outside her breath was taken away. Kagome had told her the truth. There were several huts lined up beside Kiade's hut. There where stairs carved into the side of a hill leading up to what appeared to be some kind of temple. There in front of Sarah was a tall tree with a fence made of wooden post. Sarah made her way over to it and looked down at even more huts and what appeared to be rice fields.
“Where the hell am I?” she mumbled to herself. Something small moving caught her eye. She turned to she what appeared to be a small child. But this was no ordinary child. His feet looked like that of a small dog or a fox. Sarah stood and stared in amazement.
The small child jumped up on the fence. “Hi.” It said. “I'm Shippo. What's your name?”
Though Sarah was a bit alarmed by this sight, the fox-like child was cute and did not seem to threaten her. “My name is Sarah.” She answered.
“I see you met Shippo.” Kagome said walking up from behind.
Sarah looked at Kagome funny and leaned over to whisper, “What's wrong with it?”
Kagome gave a small giggle and answered, “Nothing. Shippo is a fox demon, but he's only a child.”
“Demon?” Sarah asked confusion filled her face.
“Things here are a lot different than where we come from.” Kagome said.
“Where we come from?” Sarah said. “And where do you come from Kagome?”
“I come from a future time just like you do. My Grandfather looks after a temple in my time and I was pulled through a sacred well back into this time. I am here because I have a duty to perform.” Kagome began. She informed Sarah of the sacred jewel and how she was connected to it. She then went on to tell Sarah how she had shattered the jewel shard and now with help from her friends she had to find all the jewel shards.
It was all a lot to take in for Sarah, reincarnation, demons, a sacred jewel that gave its possessor powers. She stood and listened carefully to the story that Kagome lay out before her. When she was finished Sarah began questioning Kagome's story.
“So let me get this right,” Sarah began. “You live in modern day Japan. Your grandfather is a priest at a sacred shrine. You were pulled through the well by accident because you are the reincarnation of a priestess who once lived during this time and a sacred jewel that she was buried with was inside your body. A demon pulled it out and then in pursuit of another demon you accidentally shattered it. So now you and your friends travel the countryside looking for the jewel shards to keep an evil demon from getting all of the shards. Am I following okay so far?”
“Yes. That is the story for the most part.” Kagome confirmed. “But there is more to the story, but we can talk about that later.”
“Oh great.” Sarah said sarcastically.
Kagome gave Sarah an odd look for her mumbling comment but did not reply. After all Sarah was new to this land and its culture. She had no idea what was going on and there for Kagome felt she should try to be more understanding.
“So what do you remember Sarah?” she asked.
“I was in the woods with some of my friends. A friend and I walked away from everyone else. I remember I fell into an old mine in the hills that use to be used to mine gold I think. But I don't understand how it could send me back in time or to the complete other side of the world.” Sarah explained.
As Sarah finished explaining she noticed a man dressed in what appeared to be a monk's robe, navy blue with a deep purple sash rapping around him. He had a tall golden staff as he walked towards them. Beside him walked a woman dressed in a green skirt, with a pink shirt. A blue scarf wrapped around her neck and a huge boomerang with a strap that ran from her shoulder around her waste.
“These are two of the friends I was telling you about.” Kagome said as they walked up to where they stood. “This is Miroku and Sango.” Sarah smiled politely and Kagome countered her introduction. “Miroku, Sango this is Sarah.”
There was a brief pause between the group and Shippo took off to find something to eat. Kagome continued to talk, “Did you find anything?”
“Nothing.” Miroku said. “We searched around the area where the girl was found.”
“So you didn't find the mine?” Sarah interrupted.
“Mine?” Sango asked. “There was nothing but the Bone Eaters Well.” She replied.
Sarah gave a sigh. “I want to take a look.” She said. “There has to be something there. I remember crawling out of a hole in the ground and it wasn't a well that I crawled out of.”
“We'll go with you.” Kagome insisted.
