Kagome decided that it was time to do some school clothes shopping, considering the fact that her new school didn't use uniforms. She was glad when she stepped into the mall (Inuyasha had told her which was best out of the three) with a purse full of cash and a mind set on cute clothes.

She was amazed that her grandfather had got her into this new school so easily. She wasn't exactly the wealthiest person out there and she certainly didn't have any ties with anyone here. But nonetheless, she got a scholarship for full paid one year and bam, she was in. She suspected that somehow it had something to do with her Miko powers.

Walking into a store that was made for young women, she spotted a section that seemed to call to her. Picking out some tanks and shirts in all different colors, she walked more around the store. Gathering skirts and jeans and some more shirts, she decided to find a fitting room.

Her mind wandered as she waited in line, on him of course. To him, this was there last night together. What does it matter? He's probably older anyway, out of high school. Out of all the people she could have met, she just had to meet someone older. Who was she supposed to have when she started school? Eri wasn't there for her, she was friendless.

“You can have my room, I'm done.” A girl's voice brought Kagome back down to earth. Looking up she saw the owner of the voice.

She's beautiful. “Thank you.” Kagome smiled sweetly and entered the room and closed it. “Who was she?” she whispered to herself. The girl had long straight black hair and bangs; she had flawless milk white skin and dark brown eyes. She was tall and had the body of a thin model. A tinge tugged at Kagome as she thought about her. Was she- Is she a Miko?

After trying on some clothes she decided to buy and some she thought looked better on the rack, she opened the door only to find that same girl standing over by the cash register, waiting with some of her friends.

“Hey, you” She called.

Kagome walked over to her. “Yeah?”

“You new around here?” She asked kindly.

“Yep, just doing a bit of school shopping.”

“I see, you going to school here? Which school?”

Kagome screwed up her face in thought. “Um, something called, uh…United something.”

Kikyo grinned. “Shikon United High?”

“Yeah that one.”

“Hmm, wealthy are we?” Kikyo asked.

Kagome frowned. “No, actually. Not wealthy, just well off.”

“I see,” Kikyo urged on. “Then how, sorry for interrogating, but just how did you get into that school? You see I attend that school and only the wealthy or the best of the best get in.”

Kagome didn't know if she should take that as an insult or not. “Riiight. Well I got in on a scholarship if that's what you mean. Nothing big, just some talent.”

The girl looked her over. She seems nice, and she's pretty enough. She noticed Kagome's long ebony hair curled to perfection and unblemished tan skin. Her eyes caught her off guard, they were pure and kind. She had to be a Miko. “I see, well my name is Kikyo Hino and these are my friends, Kari and Majine.”

Nodding kindly towards them, Kagome felt another pang to her body. “My name is Kagome Higurashi.” Kikyo reached over and shook her hand. Another pang to her body and she had felt Kikyo's aura. “So, you're a Miko?” Kagome meant that to be an inward question, but it came out loud and clear.

Kikyo looked taken back for a moment.

“Oh I'm sorry; don't answer that if you don't want to.” Kagome blushed.

Kikyo eyed her suspiciously. “No, it's quite alright. Yes, I am a Miko. The only fully trained one at our school. You must be too, if you could sense me so quickly, no?”

Kagome paled. Think, think. She laughed it off. “No, heh- it was just a lucky guess.” Picking up her bags that the cashier had gave her and paying quickly, she said her goodbyes. “Well it was very nice to meet you Kikyo, Kari and Majine, but I really must be going!” She smiled sweetly and gave them one last glance, “Well- bye then.” Before she left the store.

“Well that wasn't strange at all.” Kari said sarcastically as the three girls' watched Kagome leave in a rush. Kikyo `hummed' and tapped her finger to her lips.

“Yeah…”

*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*! *!*!*!*

Making sure she was far from Kikyo and her friends, Kagome let her self take in a deep sigh of relief against a wall. How could I let my guard down? How could I be so stupid? Looking up at the store's sign above her, she smiled. Well, might as well finish shopping.

Entering the shop she indulged in the finest of clothes and instantly forgot her little run in with Kikyo. Remembering that she had one more date with Inuyasha, she decided to pick something really nice to wear for him tonight.
Rummaging through the racks, she found a silk and cashmere, boat neck, off the shoulder, charcoal long sleeve sweater and a pair of sand washed blue jeans.

She knew they were going to the beach, so might as well dress warmly. Well she got that outfit out of the way. Making her way down more aisles, she came across a girl around her age arguing with someone over her cell phone.

“I don't care. You tell him that I went out shopping and that he can shove it!” The girl yelled.

Kagome tried to tune out the girl while she looked at different sizes of this really cute skirt.

“I said no. You tell my father that I'll be back when I want, good bye.” She snapped her cell phone shut and turned. “Oh hi, sorry you had to hear that.” She said sheepishly.

Kagome stood up from where she was bending and smiled at the shorter girl in front of her. “It's okay. I wasn't listening in, so no worries. I'll just go.”

“Hey, I haven't seen you around here, are you new?”

Jeez. These people can spot a new person from like a mile away. “Yeah, just moved here.”

“My name is Rin.” She held out her hand. Kagome took it kindly and said, “My name is Kagome.”

Rin smiled brightly. “Nice to meet ya, nice to meet ya! You're all alone, wanna friend?”

Kagome was shocked at this girl's sudden forwardness but laughed all the same. “Yeah, I'd like that.”

The two girls went to the fitting room and tried on their things. “So what school are you going to? I go to Shikon United; I usually hang out at the coffee shop during school breaks and such because the girls in my race are so stupid, rather obnoxious really.”

Kagome giggled at how her new friend was a very fast talker and seemed very hyper. “I'm attending Shikon United too,” She frowned. “Hey Rin, what do you mean `Race'?”

Rin stepped out of her dressing room and looked at Kagome. “Well let me break it down for you.” Kagome followed her to the cashier. “At Shikon United, you get the cliques and picks. You find a clique and they pick if they want you or not. I don't bother with them, stuck up rule if you ask me. But because I tend to stay on my own, and I'm,” She held up the sign of quotation, “`Wealthy', I'm held as stuck up and stand offish. But who cares. That's my deal. Anyway, you've got the,” She held up her hand and counted down, dropping a finger each time. “Youkai, the humans, the half-breeds and then you've got the Monks and Mikos.”

Kagome's stomach lurched. So I'm already categorized? “Tell me more.” She and Rin walked out of the store and through the mall to another store.

“We all sort of stick to our own, and we definitely, definitely, definitely do not mix. It's sort of like an iron clad rule. You either stick to yourself or you stick to your own, that's how it's seen. The humans, such as me, kinda stay out of things because they tend to get hurt the most. The youkai call us `weak', whatever. The half-breeds stay away completely because they get picked on the most because they, well, aren't human and they definitely ain't full youkai.” Rin leaned in closer and whispered, “Youkai look down upon half-breeds because they think they've shamed their `power-blood' with the running blood of a pathetic weak human.”

“Huhhh, I see.” Kagome was getting so lost. Maybe this school didn't sound like a good idea after all. She reminded herself to stick to herself in the end.

“Anyway, at Shikon United, a war between backgrounds and heritages have been boiling for as long as, well, ever. Monks and Mikos versus the Youkai. Its how it's always been, ain't no one ever gonna change that. They both think that their races are the better beings. Youkai and their all mighty strength and powers, and then the Monks and Mikos with their all mighty strength of mind and powers. If you ask me, they are pretty much the same thing, only one side is all tainted and the other is all pure.”

“Hmm.” Kagome let Rin know she was still paying attention.

Rin rolled her eyes at the whole story she was telling. “Basically our school is racist and its best if you find a clique and stay. You'll most likely be with the humans and by your appearance, you'll be pretty popular.” She laughed. “I dunno, I like you, I might just go back with them to hang with you.”

Kagome laughed lightly. She liked this Rin girl, she really did. Probably end up being her best friend here, but this whole high school clique madness, that just really set her off.

After getting all her shopping done with Rin, they both went their separate ways (first getting each others numbers), promising to call each other, and Kagome headed home.

“Mama I'm home!” She called out. Looking at the clock she realized that she had been gone for 5 hours and she only had 2 hours to get ready. Digging through the fridge, she pulled out some frosting and grabbed a spoon.

“Kagome, that's not healthy.” Mrs. Higurashi entered the doorway to the kitchen and sighed. “Dear, let me make you something a little bit meatier. You look like your losing weight.”

“Aw mama, don't worry about it. Just stress since this whole move thing. Did you know that my new school is completely full of discriminating pricks?”

Mrs. Higurashi smiled. “You'll do fine.”

Kagome sighed before plunging the spoon into the frosting once more and licking it clean. “Yeah, hope so.”

“You'll go there and you'll show them if they try messing with you. Kagome, they have no idea who you are and what you're capable of, you can make yourself whatever it is you want.” Mrs. Higurashi patted her daughter on the shoulder before grabbing the frosting away from her. “Now go get ready for you date.”

Taking the steps two or three, Kagome walked into her room. Heading straight for the bathroom, she got in the shower. Tonight should be fun!

*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!!*!**!!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*! *!*!*

Walking down the hallway with a Popsicle in his mouth, humming a song that was stuck in his head, Inuyasha stopped abruptly.

“Yeah, I had fun.” It was Seshomaru's voice. “This Seshomaru does not get embarrassed.”

Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “Feh.”

“I think I better go, I smell a foul half breed outside my door, listening in on my conversation. I better go beat him to a pulp, talk to you later.”

Hearing Seshomaru's cell phone shut and his footsteps towards the door, was Inuyasha' queue for splitting. “Vermin, get back here.” His brother called out angrily.

“Leaving bastard, smell ya later!” Inuyasha tipped his imaginary hat to his growling older brother and shut his door quickly. “What a spoil sport.”

Turning towards his T.V clock, he muttered, “Only 1 more hour.”

Grabbing his jacket and his concealment necklace, he drove to Kagome's house. It was nearly time for the sun to start setting, and he was hoping to catch it with her at the beach.

Walking up to her door, he knocked once. Sniffing once, he smelt two males running to the door. It happened all so fast, one male, who was a kid, opened the door and yelled behind him, “Ooohhh Kagome, smooch smooch, your boyfriends here!” Then the next thing he knew a hand smacked against his forehead and an old man roared in triumph, “GOTCHU DEMON DOG!”

He frowned at both of the males in from of him. Crossing his eyes to look up at his forehead, he saw a talisman for warding off demons, which apparently was useless, stuck to him. Peeling it off, as Kagome gasped at the door, he muttered, “Nice.”

“Grandpa, Souta! Leave, Now!” She barked at them both, closing the door behind her. “Oh my gosh, Inuyasha, I am so-so-sorry!” Her hand was to her mouth and her face was the color of crimson.

Inuyasha chuckled and put an arm around her, leading her to the car. “It's okay Kagome, wasn't your fault.”

Kagome shook her head and frowned. “I just don't get it, those two are so immature. And why the heck would grandpa do that to you, you're not even a youkai.”

Inuyasha swallowed hard. “Yeah, heh, weird.”

As they drove off towards the beach, they sat in complete silence. None of them said a thing till they got there. One look at the sky as Inuyasha helped her out of the car had changed that. “Oh Inuyasha, it's really pretty!”

“Yeah, thought you'd like it.”

Kagome and he sat down at a bench to watch the changing colors. “You're such a romantic, you know that?” she giggled.

“Keh, whatever, am not.” He said his gruffness back.

Kagome grinned at him then turned back to the sky. “You know Inuyasha; I had fun the last couple days. You're really a cool guy.”

“Thanks. You ain't so bad yourself, wench.”

Kagome's eyes widened. “What?”

Inuyasha looked horrified. “Oops, sorry, don't take that to offense.”

To his surprise, she laughed. “I don't think any romantic guy has ever called me a wench before. Wow Inuyasha didn't think you had it in you. Maybe you're not such a bore after all.”

“You callin' me boring? I'll show you boring!” Inuyasha growled as humanly as possible. Kagome laughed and took of towards the sandy beach.
“Ain't no use of running, wench, I'm a master of speed, a master of all.” He called after her.

Kagome now noticed how hard it was to run and laugh at the same time. It was exhausting. Stopping for just a split second ruined her chances completely of escaping because he had caught her around the waist and threw her over his shoulder. “Inuyasha!” She screeched, laughing her head off, pounding on his back. “Let go! No! Please! Not the water! INUYASHA!!”

Inuyasha was laughing himself and had to try his hardest not to topple over in the water where the sandy beach was unleveled. “Inuyasha, I swear I'll…” She let the threat hang. Apparently the threat didn't scare him one bit, because the next thing she knew was that she was completely soaked. He had thrown her in.

Standing up and glared at him. “You are so dea- ah!”

Inuyasha watched her fall back into the water. “Inuyasha!” A wave crashed on top of her and she sputtered as the water hit her in the face. “Inuyasha, I'm stuck! Help!”

Instantly he got worried and waddled out to her. “Kagome are you okay!? Here, take my hand!” He saw her grab on to his arm and grin mischievously. The next thing he knew was him falling into the water from the force of the unexpected pull.

He splashed back up and glared at her himself, both of them completely soaked. “You are a goner.”

“Yeah?” She laughed, scooping up water in her hands and splashing him the face with it.

Inuyasha dove after her and she squealed.

After playing in the water till the sun was completely set, they decided to head home. Noticing that Kagome was shivering, Inuyasha reached inside the car and handed her his jacket. “Here, take it. Your cold.”

Kagome smiled at him brightly and thanked him. He walked her to her door and they both paused before she went in.

“Inuyasha, again, I want to thank you. I had fun,” She looked up at the sky. “Tons of fun actually, more than I thought I would.”

“Well thanks, I think.” Inuyasha grinned. He looked down, not wanting her to see the blush creeping into his cheeks. “You looked good tonight.”

It was Kagome's turn to blush. “Thanks.” The both locked eyes and she did something that she probably would never have done with out thinking it over for days.

She leaned up and brushed her lips against his. Short and sweet. Inuyasha's eyes widened as she blushed ten times brighter. Smiling slightly, he pressed his lips to hers, his tongue snaking its way between them.

She accepted it and rolled her tongue with his. She sucked on his bottom lip before she let go, and then suddenly her eyes swiftly opened and she stepped back. Her heart was pounding and she touched her fingers to her swollen pink lips. My first kiss….

“Kagome, are you okay?” Inuyasha asked. He started to worry that his youkai had her some way, but how could it? He had the concealment charm on and also it couldn't hurt anyone with out Inuyasha wanting to.

She smiled at him and kissed his cheek. “I had fun Inuyasha. It was really nice to meet you. Maybe one day we'll meet up again. Take care.”

“Okay, bye Kagome.” He watched her close the door behind her and then he walked to his car. Well that was fun. Too bad she was only visiting.

*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!* !*!*!*!*

“Dang, Kags, you've got some style. Remind me to roam through your closet whenever I want to make an impression on a teacher.” Rin said playfully.

“Oh shut it.” Kagome laughed, unpacking more boxes. “Those are my uniforms from the last school I went to, I haven't even hung up the new clothes I bought or those I haven't unpacked yet.”

“I like it here, it's so, homey.” Rin was helping Kagome unpack and get her room all organized. “You seriously should consider going to school for fashion or at least interior design. I like the way your room is set up.”

“Thanks.”

The girls took a break from the setting up and plopped down on Kagome's bed. “So Kagome, what have you been up to this summer, besides hanging out with me and shopping and moving in?”

“Uhhh…nothing really.”

Rin grinned. “Any hot guys? I mean you are new and all, so it's all fresh meat for you.”

Kagome blushed. “Huh? N-no, of course not!” She stuttered.

Rin laughed out loud. “HA! You can't hide that from me, you did meet someone! Well spill it. And don't even try hushing me because I'm the best at getting my way, so my way or my way. Just deal.”

Kagome laughed. “Okay, but don't tell a soul okay?”

Rin nodded, rocking back and forth excitedly on her bed.

She took a deep breath and she felt her face heating up. “I did meet someone. We went out on two dates and they were so wonderful. He was such a romantic, seriously, as corny as that sounds, but he was funny as well. Oh and Rin!” She gasped, eyes getting big and bright and her smile widening just thinking about him. “He was so gorgeous, not a flaw about him! His personality was so funny, he was nice but he still had this gruffness to him! He was like perfect! He wasn't boring at all.” She sighed and looked down at her hands. “But I'm afraid that I won't see him again.”
“Aww Kags, why not?”

“Well I kind of told him that I was only visiting. But that was when I first met him, so yeah. It doesn't matter anyway, he looked like he was out of high school and he if wasn't, it'd be just my luck that he would go to a different school.”

“Hmm, I see.” Rin said. “Well at least you guys had fun! He sounds like a really cool guy.”

Kagome giggled. “Yeah, he was.” Inuyasha… “Well what about you? Did you meet anyone?”

It was Rin's turn to blush. “Wha-? What? No, heh, naw, no one here. Why would I? No, no, heh, no.”

“Oh shut up and tell me.” Kagome laughed at her friend who was fiddling nervously with her fingers.

“Okay. One guy. But he's not like any other guy. He's emotionless; he's sort of mean and doesn't talk very much.” She saw Kagome raise her eyebrow. “But with me, it's a completely different story. He told me I wasn't like any other girl and that I was the first human he'd ever even looked twice at. Heck even four times at,” She laughed lightly, sticking a piece of dark brown hair behind her ear. “He's a Youkai, so it makes it a bit of a problem.”

“Why?” Kagome asked confused.

“Weren't you listening Kags?” Rin frowned. She got up off the bed and paced back and forth, sighing sadly. “In this town, we don't mix. We stick with our own remember? Humans stay with humans and Youkai definitely stay with Youkai, they don't want any pathetic blood running through the next generation. It's just how it goes. Respect matters here, and if you don't have respect, then you don't have anything. You just don't go running off with other breeds and expect everything to be alright, because it's not. Its foul play and people look down upon it. It's stupid, I know.”

“Who cares about that? If friends were truly friends, then they wouldn't care about that stupid stuff. You never know Rin, you could make a difference, you could change the way the things are around here forever. It never hurts to try.”

“Yeah, I guess..” Seshy..
