Chapter One

What love can do to you!!!

Kagome sat gazing into the camp fire listening to Sango slapping and yelling at Miroku for groping her ass every time she let her guard down, and to Shippo muttering happily to himself as he drew a picture with the crayons she had given him. She could see Inuyasha's reflection in the fire as he sat up in the tree behind them. She couldn't believe it she'd spent her entire sixteenth birthday hoping that, that stupid Inuyasha would remember what day it was. Why did she bother to even think that he might remember that it was exactly a year ago since they had first met. How could she be so stupid to think he'd even care, obviously today was just another day for him. Even so she continued to gaze longingly into the flames at his reflection. She wanted him so much, she loved him so much, she just wanted him to love her the way that she loved him but that was too much too ask he would never love her, she just couldn't compare to Kikyo. She couldn't help it her eyes filled and her sad tears began to flow silently down her rosy cheeks. Kagome wiped her tears away she refused to let the others see her cry especially over Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was sat up in the tree lost in thought. He was thinking about Kagome again. Today was the day she had released him from Kikyo's spell that had pinned him to that blasted tree for fifty years. Kagome was supposed to be Kikyo's reincarnation but although she looked similar to Kikyo she was nothing like her, Kagome was so different. Kagome accepted him the way he was, she had never asked him to change, unlike Kikyo who never could accept him the way he was. She said she loved him but how could she if she was repulsed by half of him. He knew now that she had never truly loved him and that he never truly loved her. But with Kagome he couldn't deny it to himself, he loved her, he loved her more than anything, she was so beautiful and kind hearted and she believed in him, even when he didn't believe in himself, she had risked her life many times to save him she even jumped in front of an arrow for him. He knew what day it was and it was very special to him, but how could he tell her how he felt, after all he was a just a worthless hanyou with nothing to offer her, he didn't deserve her.

Suddenly Koga appeared in front of Kagome lifting her into his arms.

` Koga what are you doing put me down right now' she demanded.

`Please Kagome I want you to listen to me ok' he asked as he sniffed the stench of that mutt in the air, he could sense him hiding up in the tree.

`Ok fine what is it that you want to tell me Koga' she asked softly.

`Kagome I love you, I mean it I want you to be my woman from now on, please say you'll be my mate' he pleaded so sincerely.

`Koga……..' she started but before she had finished he had already leaned down and planted his lips onto hers when suddenly Inuyasha leapt out of the tree and snatched her away from Koga.

` Oi mutt face you give my Kagome back right now' Koga bellowed menacingly.

With that Inuyasha put Kagome down and headed straight for Koga and knocked him flying.

`Inuyasha sit' she yelled with tears now flowing down her cheeks as she ran to Koga.

` Kagome my love it's ok I can defend myself against mutt face here we'll continue where we left off after I waste him ok' he smiled.

Inuyasha was up already and wasted no time in pulling Kagome into his arms.

`Inuyasha!!! Koga!!! both of you stop it right now' she screamed as her tears continued to fall.

Slap!!! `Inuyasha let go of me what makes you think you can act like this let go of me now' she demanded as she fought to free herself from his tight grip until eventually he let go.

`Kagome wait where are you going its too late for you to go off by yourself ` Inuyasha insisted.

`Hey Kagome honey wait ill come with you' Koga said trailing behind her.

`No Koga you won't I'm going by myself I'm sorry but I love you as a friend and nothing more. I'll be ok by myself so please just go back to Ginta and Hakkaku' she insisted.

Koga opened his mouth to object but closed it in an instant when he saw the look she'd thrown him.

`Ok Kagome be careful I'll see you later' he yelled as he ran back to his followers straight past a stunned Inuyasha.

Seconds later Inuyasha came back to his senses and raced after her.

Kagome was sat under a cherry blossom tree near the river with her eyes full of tears.

`What's the matter Kagome' Inuyasha asked.

`You want to know what's the matter with me do you, well its you, you obviously don't want me the only person you have eyes for is Kikyo, yet you wont let anyone else have me, I don't need you to attack Koga like that, he's not the enemy, he just happens to be in love with me and for some reason you can't seem to handle that' she screamed still sobbing.

`All I've ever wanted is for you to love me Inuyasha I don't love Koga he's just a friend I want to be by your side Inuyasha, I want to be by your side forever, I love you so much I just want you to love me. If I loved Koga I would have been gone long ago but I don't the only person I want is you' she continued to sob her entire body now shaking.

“Kagome…….” he started before being cut off.

`You don't even know what day it is do you, well for your information its exactly a year ago since we first met and its also my 16th birthday, I should be at home celebrating with my family and friends, but I'm not am I, I'm here with you because I'm a fool.. I can never be Kikyo, I'm Kagome, I cant be anything but myself' she cried her face still streaming with her salty tears.

`Kagome' Inuyasha whispered as he tried to wrap his arms around her but failed because she pushed him away.

`Get away from me Inuyasha, just go away, I cant cope with this anymore, I'm sorry but I can't help you look for the jewel shards anymore, I'm going home to my world where I belong' she said rising to her feet.

`Kagome wait I know what day it is and its very special to me because it's the day I met you and I know I should have said this a long time ago but I…I…I love you Kagome, I love you more than anything, please don't leave me, I need you Kagome, without you I have nothing, please Kagome don't leave me' he said pulling her into his arms.

`Inuyasha' she threw her arms around him and sobbed into his shoulder.

`Oh Kagome' he sighed as he stroked her soft ebony hair.

`Inuyasha did you really mean it when you said you loved me' Kagome asked as she lifted her head to gaze into his beautiful golden eyes.

`Yes Kagome I did, I love you more than anything' he answered her softly.

`If you love me then prove it, take me now I want to feel you inside of me, Inuyasha take me, I'm yours. I need you to do this for me please because then I'll know that you love me' she pleaded with deep longing in her chocolaty eyes.

Kagome reached up and kissed him running her fingers through his silvery white hair as his lips parted and their kiss became deeper.

“Kagome stop we cant do this” he told her with deep sadness in his eyes.

“I knew it you still love her, don't you, you love Kikyo” she let her hands leave his silvery mane and brought them to her side in clenched fists.

“I'm sorry Inuyasha I know I said I'd stay by your side no matter what but I just cant do it anymore, you'll have to find the remaining jewel shards without me ok, now I'm leaving please don't follow me” she announced her voice trembling as she sobbed and turned away breaking into a run a she headed straight for the dark trees.

“But Kagome wait it's not like that, please just here me out, don't be mad” he yelled as he ran after her managing to catch her almost instantaneously.

“Kagome please just listen to me” he said as he stood in front of her holding her shoulders.

“Inuyasha I've had enough of your excuses I've asked you nicely but seeing as you refuse to listen I'm going to have to do this…”

“Inuyasha Sit Boy, Sit, Sit, Sit…………..”she constantly repeated as she ran into the forest.
