Chapter Three

A Good Nights Sleep

Inuyasha was sat up in one of the tallest branches of the sacred tree, cradling a sleeping Kagome in his arms. He gazed at her beauty as she slept, stroking her face gently, he couldn't believe he'd almost lost her, the one person he cared for the most, she had nearly died because of him. Tears began to roll down his cheeks again, he couldn't help it, he couldn't hold them back. Kagome awoke to her hanyou's teary eyes gazing down at her.

“Inu…Yasha” she mumbled.

“Kagome your awake” he exclaimed cheerfully wiping his tears away.

“Yeah I'm awake” she sighed.

“Hey Kagome, promise me something will you” he asked.

“Promise you what Inuyasha” she yawned.

“Promise me that you'll never give your life away because of an asshole like me again” he said seriously.

“Ok” she muttered sadly.

“Kagome I do…I do love you” he reassured her.

“Well then why don't you want to be with be Inuyasha” she questioned.

“Because….I'm just a worthless hanyou and I don't deserve you, your so beautiful and pure, an animal like me would only taint your beautiful soul” he answered truthfully.

“Inuyasha your not an animal and your not worthless, your you and besides I love you just the way you are, you know I adore those cute dog ears of yours” she explained.

“How… how can you love someone like me Kagome” he asked her.

“I cant help it, I just do I don't know what it is about you but I cant help but feel happy and safe when I'm with you I just want to be with you always” she smiled.

“Kagome no matter how much I want to, you must understand that we can never be together I wont put you through what my mother went through, I wont let you suffer because of me” he replied miserably.

“Inuyasha I can face anything as long as I can be with you, please I want to be with you” she told him.

“But Kagome…….” he started

“No buts Inuyasha” she said before pulling his head down towards hers and locking his lips together with her own determined on stealing a kiss. He couldn't bring himself to pull away no matter how much he should have, he couldn't stop himself he wanted her so badly. Their kiss was intoxicating full of passion and deep love. As their kiss deepened and they explored the inside of each others mouths their tongues entwined together satisfying them both. Eventually they had to pull away for air but none the less it was amazing.

“Inu…Yasha” Kagome yawned slowly closing her eyes.

“Kagome I'm gonna take you home ok, your very weak at the moment and you need a good nights sleep” he told her.

“mmm ok then” she replied sleepily.

Inuyasha tightened his grip around Kagome and leapt down from the tree, heading straight for the bone eaters well. Inuyasha jumped into the well, he was instantaneously engulfed in blue light and in no time at all his feet found the bottom of the well. He waited for a few minutes listening for voices from Kagome's house, he guessed her family must be asleep, it was late after all. Inuyasha jumped in a single bound out of the well. Inuyasha ran towards the house with a sleeping Kagome in his strong arms, then leapt up to her bedroom, landing on her window sill. Inuyasha then pulled Kagome's covers back and lay her gently on her bed pulling the covers back over her. She sighed softly and fell into a deep sleep. Inuyasha settled himself against the wall so he could watch over her. He watched her sleep for several hours listening to her breathing softly.

“Inuyasha…….” she began to sob in her sleep.

“Inuyasha please don't leave me, please I just want to be with you” she continued her body now shaking uncontrollably beneath her duvet.

Inuyasha got up from his cross legged position and crept over to Kagome.

“Kagome it's ok, I'm not going anywhere, I'm right here” he tried to reassure her as he gently stroked her tear stricken face.

“Inu…Yasha” she mumbled as she slowly opened her eyes.

“I'm here Kagome” he whispered his concern clearly shown.

She smiled and reached out with her gentle hands and began to caress his handsome face, making him close his eyes and growl softly sort of like a cat purring. Kagome brought her hands back and pulled the covers away from her body, then she rose up into a sitting position before shuffling off the bed where she knelt down before her hanyou pulling him to his feet. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him down onto her bed. Then she pulled the covers back over them and snuggled into his muscular chest. “Kagome I shouldn't be in your bed what if your mum finds out” he asked worried.

“She wont she doesn't even know I'm back right” she replied happily.

“Ok then if your sure” he said as he wrapped his arms round her tighter and kissed her gently on the forehead.

“Yep I'm sure” she yawned as sleep claimed her once more.

Inuyasha was still awake hardly able to believe his luck he had Kagome, he had her love and he had her in his arms she was with him right now it felt so right.

“I love you Kagome and I'll never ever let you go” he whispered softly as he too fell into a deep slumber.
