InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A Way Back Home ❯ Mokumoku's Plan and Tokui's Deal ( Chapter 4 )

Too bad the wind was already blowing hard, or Tokui wouldn't have minded a little bit of air on her face. She was in the sky looking down at all the villages and forests they were flying over.

"Man, how much longer?" Tokui asked, complaining. "Not only am I cold, but this stupid bird brain's claw are starting to hurt."

"Listen, girl, this isn't a pleasure cruise. Get used to it. It will be a while," Kagura snarled back. Tokui folded her arms and glared at her.

"Hey, listen here, wind girl! I'm not your slave. I'm a guest of Naraku and I suggest you start treating me like one. I'm not afraid to die you know, not that you or Naraku could kill me anyway," Tokui snapped back. Kagura glared back, but didn't say anything, much to Tokui's pleasure. She had won this fight, but Naraku would not be so easily fooled. Tokui groaned and tried not to think about the pain in her back from the stupid bird's claws. `This had better be worth it,' she thought.

"What?! What do you mean the jewel is the only way back home?" Koi demanded.

"Unlike Kagome, we didn't come through any certain drift in time. We came through one drift and Tokui came from another. Who knows how many more drifts there were in the cave……. Could be only a few, could be millions. Every spot could have it's own drift, not to mention time could be a factor as well, and Tokui said she was a few minutes behind us," Mokumoku replied. Everyone was still amazed at how fast she went from speaking in third point of view with short sentences to long, educated sentences. It was like going from two years old to an adult.

"Ah-huh," Everyone said looking dumbstruck. Mokumoku sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Listen, it doesn't matter, all that matters is that we follow Tokui and find Naraku," Mokumoku said. This had obviously made sense because all of them started yelling in a heartbeat.

"Are you crazy?! You want all of us to go, track down Naraku, and try to kill him? He'll slaughter us!" Kei yelled. Everyone nodded.

"Oh, then you would rather have him come and find us then slaughter us? Well, that's a whole different ball game. I'm sure Tokui won't hastate to help us! Please! Don't be stupid! Tokui will help anyone and everyone, if they offer her the right prize. However, if Naraku makes the mistake of underestimating her, then she will surely help us, just to prove that she should not be taken lightly," Mokumoku said, and ending in a smile. Everyone was quiet giving each other glances looking for each other for an answer. "It's you choice. Go to Naraku and get Tokui back, or stay here and have a far more likely chance to die. It's your call."

"Hey! Are we landing?" Tokui asked as the Bird of Paradise and Kagura had started down. Kagura nodded her head. It was oblivious she didn't want to lose another word fight with Tokui.

When they landed they were in the middle of a forest. "What is it with all the forest in around here. In my time, there are almost no forest anywhere," Tokui said looking around.

"You've arrived," a voice said behind her. Tokui turned around and stared at Kanna. "Naraku is waiting for you." Tokui didn't say anything, nor did she move. She had seen enough Inuyasha episodes to know that Kanna was not someone to mess with.

"You are independent," Kanna said staring at Tokui.

"What has that got to do with anything?" Tokui asked continuing to stare at Kanna's mirror.

"You don't like being controlled. That's why you don't trust me," Kanna said. "Naraku said you wouldn`t." Tokui didn't say anything, but walked passed Kanna making sure no less than ten was between them. She walked on looking over her shoulder making sure they didn't follow.

"They wont' follow. I told Kanna to stay there with Kagura," came a voice up ahead. Tokui looked forward. Naraku was standing thirty feet in front of her. "Unfortunately, you are too much like Kagura. So, this is a warning. Don't try and do anything stupid."

"Ha. I'll make you a deal. If you promise me and my friends a way home, I'll help you find the rest of the jewel," Tokui said smiling. Naraku nodded his head. "Hey, people in my time shake hands when they make an agreement." Naraku turned around and smiled at her.

"I can't believe we agreed," Kei complained along with the others. Mokumoku lead the way deeper and deeper into a forest. They had been walking for quite awhile now, and everyone's feet were hurting, but Mokumoku refused to let them stop.

"We're there," she whispered suddenly as she stared straight ahead. The group looked forward to see what she was staring at. It was Kanna and Kagura.

"They sure have been talking for a while, wonder what they are saying," Kagura said. Kanna looked up at her and smiled.

Naraku walked back to Tokui, who had her hand outstretched. He shook it still smiling at her. Tokui smiled back and replied as he started to walk away for the second time, "Oh, and Naraku? Do me a favor. Don't underestimate me. You never know what I'm capable of." Tokui walked away as Naraku turned around and stared at her. As Tokui walked away, she had the feeling someone was watching her. "What do you want?" she asked the person.

"Are those not bold words for one so small," Sesshoumaru said as he stepped out from behind a group of trees. "Don't you think overconfidence in yourself is a weakness?" Tokui smiled and placed her hand on the side of his face making him draw back.

"You want to talk about weakness? How about Rin? Having a simple human child around can't be a strength. Or is it that you still feel indebt to her?" Tokui said smirking at him. Suddenly, Sesshoumaru grabbed Tokui and pushed her into a tree. Instead of fight him off, Tokui continued to smirk at him as if saying `I know something you don't.'

"Not amount of overconfidence is great enough to make you believe yourself about to speak to me that way," he hissed at her.

"Of course not!" Tokui said smiling at him. "I was only trying to make a point, Sesshoumaru…."

Sesshoumaru let go of her, quirked his eyebrows, and said, "If you have a point, I would suggest making it..."

"Certainly! My point is only that you should not judge me by my looks, but my knowledge and abilities," Tokui said beaming at him.

"You have yet to show your leagued knowledge and abilities to me," he sneered at her. Tokui smirked at him and started to laugh.

"Well, isn't it obvious? Didn't you ever stop to wonder how I know who Rin was?" Tokui asked raising her eyebrows.

"The thought had crossed my mind only momentarily," he replied, eyeing her warily. "But do you mean to suggest that you have another way to know of her other than spying on us?"

Tokui looked insulted. "Hum! How rude! Oh, well. I know not by spying. I don't like to pry into other peoples lives, but you are a special case. I'll give you some more clues. I know that your half-demon brother got the Tetsusaiga. And you go the Tenseiga instead. I know that you went to find yourself another sword and got the Tokijin made for you. What else would you like to know?" Tokui said smirking at him.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Such knowledge, small one. But common among some. Where did a human such as yourself learn of these things?"

"Your memory," Tokui said smiling at him softly. "Or your check, which ever you prefer."

"Elaborate, human," he hissed at her.

"Well, aren't we in a bad mood. And I'll have you know, I am no mere human! I am a seer. I see that past and future of people, whether human or demon," Tokui replied with a frown on her face.

"A seer? I would say you are no mere human, but you are hardly above even the priestesses and priests."

Tokui stared at him for a minute then sighed. `Your hopeless.' These words didn't come out loud, but they did in Sesshoumaru's head.

"Hey! Where did that girl go?!" came Kagura's voice. `That's it for me. I'll keep in touch. And congrates you've found my other ability.' Tokui ran to find Kagura.

Sesshoumaru stared at her as she ran the other way. "She is a nuisance," he muttered to himself, turning to go find Rin and Jakken. 'But what was that about? How would she wish me to communicate with her? What does it all mean?'

"What do you want?!" Tokui yelled at Kagura, running up to her. "I was talking with someone! And you butted in!"

"Oh, and just who were you talking to?" Kagura asked glaring at her.

"Just a little lost puppy I found in the forest," Tokui said walking past her and towards Naraku, who stood at the foot of a cave.

"We sleep here," he said to her. Tokui stared into the cave for a minute then turned back to Naraku.

"Fantastic!" She said and walked in.

"We're going to have to attack when they go to sleep," Mokumoku told the group. She sat down and prepared for the wait. The others followed her example. "Oh, and Inuyasha, Tokui said she met you brother. She said he seemed very intelligent and strong. And the hopefully you won't disappoint her." Inuyasha muttered something under his breath. "Tokui will tell me when everyone is asleep.

Two hours later

Kei slipped as quietly as a mouse into the cave. He finally found the group of people. One…. Two… Three….. Four…….

Just as he was about to attack, Inuyasha screamed, "Damnit! That hurt." All four stirred and saw Kei.

Kei jumped back and yelled, "Damn you, Inuyasha! I had them!"

"Dance of Blades!!!" Kagura's voice said. Kei ran out of the cave along with the others. It was too dark to make out faces, but Kei saw someone slip out of the cave and run in the opposite direction. Kei sprinted after them.

The person kept looking over their shoulder. Finally they stopped dead in their tracks and moved over a few feet. Kei fell right were the person was two seconds before.

"What are you doing!?" Tokui's voice yelled.

"Hm? Who are you?" Kei asked standing up. The person shook their head then got into the moon light so he could see her.

"I'm Tokui. And you are Kei. Yes, Mokumoku told me all about you. Well," said Tokui looking around, "it's not the desert or during the day. But you still chased me." Tokui smiled at him.

"Ahhhhh!!!!" Screamed a girl's voice.

"Mokumoku!" Tokui yelled.
