InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A World Apart ❯ A Parent's Struggle ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

I never thought I would write another story. I never finished the first one so I'm kinda scared to write this one. My last year in high school's about to start probably in August so I won't be able to write on the regular…or maybe I will. Who knows?

“There is a place that I dream of every night in my sleep. A place where everyone is welcomed and not hated. A place where demons and humans both live in harmony. A place called heaven.”

“Daddy! Daddy, wake up. Come on daddy!” a small child with silver hair called.

The older man with silver hair rolled over in his bed, not wanting to be awakened by the nuisance he called a son.

“Dad, come on!” the little boy said stamping his small foot.

“Alright Rei, alright. Wait for me downstairs.” A muffled reply came from the man.

Smiling the small child exited his father's room to watch his favorite cartoon.

`Damn kid always waking me up early in the damn morning to take his damned trouble making ass to school.' The silver haired man grumbled to himself as he got out of his warm bed and headed to his bathroom.

This was the normal morning routine for Tokyo's richest business man, Inuyasha Taisho. At twenty-eight, he already owned half of the companies in Japan, and was the only heir to Inutaisho Corp., a business his father owned before he died from an incurable illness.
Of course, that was only what the press knew. Inuyasha knew that the stress of this family business stressed his father out to the point where he no longer felt the need to live, and took his own life by overdose.

There was one point where Inuyasha was ready to do the same, but one person held him back.

“Hey kiddo, you ready to go?” Inuyasha asked his son from the doorway.

“Yup.” Jumping off the couch, Reiji ran to his father's car outside and got into the front seat.

“In the back Rei.”

“Aww dad, just this one time. Please?”

Inuyasha looked at his son and couldn't say no to the adorable face he put on. Closing the passenger side door, Inuyasha got into the driver's seat and drove off.

“Riku, let's go. We're all going to be late if you don't get your butt down here right now.” A woman with midnight hair yelled from the bottom stair.

“He doesn't want to go to school mommy. He said he hates it.” a small girl said putting her shoes on.

“There's nothing I can do about him liking school, but if he doesn't come down these stairs in ten seconds he's not going to like someone else. Riku let's go!”

A small boy walked slowly down the stairs and stood in front of his mother. He hated going to school. As long as that boy went to the same school as him, he would never like going to his school.

“You're in trouble.” The small girl sang to her brother.

“Shut up Rika.”

“Haven't I told you not to say that in this house? And Rika stop teasing your brother. Put your shoes on.” The woman said handing a pair of shoes to her son.

The woman sighed as looked at her watch. `Man I'm going to late, again. My boss is going to kill me.'

Kagome Higurashi, twenty-seven year old executive secretary at Inutaisho Corp.. Her life wasn't the golden dream she expected it to be. She had a man, a very handsome one at that, but that was before he found out she was pregnant with twins. Her pride and joy are her two babies, Rika and Riku and if given the chance, she would give her life to make sure they were never harmed. Of course, she never always thought like that. There was a time were she hated herself. Her mother disowned her because she had an affair with a demon and she didn't have anywhere to go. She was ready to end her life one night in her best friend's kitchen, until she heard her savior's cries.

“Leave me alone Rika!” Riku said pushing his sister causing her to hit her head on the banister.

“Ow! Mom Riku pushed me!” Rika whined to her mother.

“It is too early for this bickering. Riku I told you about keeping your hands to yourself. Heed my warning young man because if I get a call from school today you're not going to like me when we get home. That goes for you too Rika. Do I make myself clear?”

Both children nodded and followed their mother out of the house. Silence filled the car all the way to school. Kagome kissed her kids and drove off when they were safely inside the school. She hated being hard on them, but they needed to know that actions will come with consequences.

Looking at the car radio, she swore loudly and sped up. “I hope Kagura is later than I am today.”

Kagome's cell phone rang just as she pulled up to a red light and she went to pick it up. Unfortunately her clumsiness got the better of her and she dropped it. As she went down to pick it up, her foot stepped on the gas and she ran the red light, breaking just in time to swerve and bump right into silver Accord.

“Oh my god, what have I done?”

Okay before I go I wanted to show you guys something. There's a little blue button below this that says “write review.” So I would really appreciate it if you guys reviewed this. Thanx. Oh and as my mother always told me, “if you have nothing nice to say, don't review at all.” (you know what I mean.)
