InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Across the Battlefield ❯ Text messaging ( Chapter 1 )
If you look out your window what do you see. Trees, dirt, flowers, snow, rain, sun? I see an ocean, but it isn't real. It used to be real but humans polluted far to much for us to have the luxury of owning the view of an ocean. The ocean I see is made of man-made acids that look crystalline and blue. You can't swim in them though they would dissolve you right away. The people of earth made them so they could have something to look at. The real ocean water is kept in gigantic tank all around the world. There is some near Neo-Tokyo where I live, but you have to pay millions to go see the water. You see the water is used for the remaining marine animals of the earth. It is there habitat. There is such a small amount of animals on this planet. It scares me.
Love,
Kagome

I see nothing. I don't live by an ocean. I do know that the world is ugly. That why I stay inside. Lol. Come on Kagome you didn't answer my original question: Do you like someone?

I do. You're lying. I can almost see that blush on your face, through cyber-space. That was cheesy; I didn't mean it to rhyme.

'Logging off'
A sigh escaped Kagome's lips, she had been trying to bring up a serious conversation about the environment with her friend but as usual her "friend" had managed to change the topic to boys. Once again she wondered why she was friends with her boy obsessed friend Yuka, they had nothing in common, her and Yuka, yet Kagome always managed to apologize to Yuka about any argument they had blame it on herself and then be stuck with Yuka as a friend… AGAIN. Her Mom always told her that she got stuck in weird situations because she was to kind and a bit of a pushover. That wasn't true Kagome was just a very loyal friend who happened to have very bad karma.
"Maybe I'll see if Eri is around" she picked up her cell phone and started to punch in the letters.
"KAGOME, if you don't hurry you'll be late for school, and that always pisses the teachers off!"
Kagome's kid brother peaked his head through the door-way.
"Go away Souta" Kagome mumbled as she tried to push her cell phone out of view. Unfortunately she wasn't quick enough and her little brothers eyes caught the gleam of Kagome's beautiful plastic "Save the Orcas" cell phone cover.
"You where doing e-mail again weren't you." Before Kagome could object her little brother stuck his head out the door and yelled
"Mom! Kagome's been doin' e-mail again!" Kagome rushed over and throttled him. "Now she's killing me because I was explaining the evils of cell-phones to her!"
"Shutup, Brat"
"You shutup, your supposed to be at school… soon."
"I just slept-in, I can still make it!" Kagome rushed over to her closet pulled out a wrinkled sailor uniform and started undressing without any regard to her brother or modesty.
"EWW Kagome!" Souta said as he stuck his tongue out and slammed the door. "You didn't have to do that in front of me!"
"Well that's one way to get you out of my room." She grumbled while she put a orange her mouth, ran a comb through her hair and tried (unsuccessfully) to smooth out her skirt.
"Okay, I'm ready" she said running out the door and past her brother.
"Kagome watch where your going!" Kagome's mother scolded.
"Yeah, you ran me over!" Souta yelled angrily.
"Okay I'll be more careful!" Kagome said. Of course she hadn't heard a word they said and tipped over vase, snagged the rug and managed to slam the door all at the same time.
"She always has her head in the clouds." Kagome's mother said shaking her head.
"First you have to have a brain to stick your head in the clouds." Souta remarked sarcastically.
Kagome's mother chose to ignore Souta's comment instead she walked over and started cleaning up Kagome's untouched breakfast. "Oh dear she seems to have forgotten to eat breakfast." She shook her head lovingly. "She really needs my help sometimes."
"Yeah or she'll never graduate from that wimpy school of her's" Souta said.
"That's not very nice! Kagome made a big sacrifice for us so you would have enough money to go to collage!"
"What, is military school cheaper than normal schools?"
"Yes, collage is free there. The only downside is she has the chance of getting drafted…"
Souta returned to his room. Now he understood why Kagome had been so angry at him ever since she choose which school to go to. She had sacrificed her education for his. He stared up at the ceiling 'that was why she went to school on Sunday's and only had off days on Saturdays (sometimes).
"Souta! Come down at once!" Ms Higurashi yelled from downstairs.
Souta ran out of his room and hurried down stairs.
"What?" he yelled.
"Look at the TV" Ms Higurashi said, their where tears in her eyes as she looked down on the television.
Souta looked down.
"We repeat, the government officials today have decided on drafting from military school to help meet the onslaught of southern barbarians in the Jidai desert…" The reporter on the TV continued to read off his papers until Souta turned the TV off.
"Mom what's wrong?" he said looking up into her tearstained face.
She whimpered then said in wobbly tone "Kagome could get drafted."
