Affairs of the Souls

This is just a little insight to the world you about to enter. It is present day Japan. Demons are known to exist, but rarely seen and there is hardly any real knowledge of them. Most of them amongst humans…at least the ones that have money and power, all others in small groups around the world (away from humans). The demons that do live among the humans have found ways to blend in via charms and spells that hide their demonic features. They are usually well established in the business world or sometimes even celebrities.

Humans don’t really know much about demons…what they look like, how they live, if they need humans to survive. They try to stay away from anyone suspected of being demon…unless of course the suspected demon was a wealthy business owner, then most humans just tried to act like they didn't know.

Of course there were a few cases of humans and demons mixing, creating a hanyou (half-breed). Being born into either world was dangerous for hanyou children. Most were aborted, killed, or tortured daily for not being full blooded like everybody else. A few cases of hanyou were lucky, being born into respected families and given a chance to hide their defects. Unfortunately, these few cases were because of human women being used by wealthy demon men; in which case the child was important to the benefit of demons. The child was controlled by the family, never being able to leave the house and meet others. Some never even got to mate since they had tainted blood, but if they did get to mate it was to another wealthy demon.

This is a story of an extremely rare case. A hanyou that is allowed to travel outside his home, outside Tokyo, in which his family resides. The only drawback is that if anyone finds out about his heritage, said person would be killed. The hanyou would then be shipped back home and forced to live like the rest of his kind. He never had a reason to worry about that threat until he was sent to Kyoto for business and ended having a few extra hours to himself…

Author’s Note: So, I hope you all like this warm up chapter. I know it’s really short, but I’m just trying to get my feet off the ground with this story. It’s going to be lot different from what I’ve ever written. It is going to be little dark later on…but for now it will be pretty tame, except for the sex scenes ^^
