But, I will do my best as long as I keep getting good reviews ^^ And thanks to two more reviewers: jflorea...I hope you continue to like the story, and I hope you'll be surprised when the time comes that Kagome learns all about Inuyasha. and bbbelelana...yes, the story will take on both POV, it's sort of a weak spot for me >< it's just a lot easier for the story to progress faster!

Chapter 1

Kagome Higurashi sat on a park bench under the largest tree in the area, waiting for her lover…of sorts. She wasn’t quite sure what exactly they were. He had been coming to meet her for almost three years now, and yet she still couldn't quite bring herself to call him her boyfriend. Sure they did everything a normal couple would do, but she felt as if he was hiding something…a part of him…from her. She sighed heavily as she looked towards sky. ‘Three long years. Seems like just yesterday.’

She had bumped into him, literally, in this very spot. She hated to sound cliché in her thoughts but he was tall, dark, and handsome. He towered over her small 5’4’’ frame with his own 6’ build. His skin was nicely tanned compared to her own paler version, and, Kami, did he have the most beautiful dark brown eyes. She would’ve almost called them black had she not gotten a close up view as he caught her elbow. Their faces mere inches apart. She could feel his breath across her cheek until a light breeze blew his shiny, black hair around them. A strand brushed across the opposite cheek and she could the softness of the extremely strands.

“Are you okay?” he asked in a deep voice. He had been a little caught off guard when he crashed into somebody, but was now suddenly intrigued as he stared at the beauty he was holding onto.

She blushed lightly and swallowed the saliva that had collected in her mouth. “I’m fine. I should’ve been paying more attention,” she stated softly.

He bent down to pick up the book he had dropped. “Nope, my fault.” He held up the book for her to see. “My nose was buried right in this sucker.”

She smiled at him. “All right, if you’re willing to take the blame, then I have no objections.”

He chuckled at her statement. “It’s a good thing I’m a nice guy, ne? Or else I might have dragged you off somewhere by now.”

Her smile faded. “I should go.”

“Hey.” He softly grabbed the elbow he had helped balance her with just a few minutes ago. “I’m stuck here for a few more hours and don’t really know anything about this place. Where’s a good place to eat?”

She gave him a sideway glance. “This some sort of trap? ‘Cause just a second ago you were joking about dragging me somewhere.”

“No, no, no.” He dropped her elbow and let her straighten to face him again. He scratched the back of his neck. “It’s just that I rarely get out of the house and meet people. I get to travel to lots of fun places and never to get see the local culture. I just thought it would be fun to see the town as a local instead of a tourist.”

She blinked. She had never met somebody so…sheltered. “Where are you from?”

“Tokyo.”

“Wow, no wonder you seem out of place here.” She giggled as his cheeks brightened. “Well, I just got off work, so I guess I could show you a few places. There’s actually some really good restaurants pretty close by…if you’re really that hungry.”

He gave her a big smile, his eyes squinting at the force of it. “I’m always hungry.”

Her own smile returned. “Alright then.” She started walking, him trailing right behind her like a little lost puppy. “By the way, what’s your name?”

“Oh, sorry. I’m Yash. What’s yours?”

“Kagome. So, what’s it like living in Tokyo?”

“Hmm, busy,” he chuckled. “I don’t like getting out much there. The streets are always so crowded and the air gets my allergies going really bad.” He stepped the few paces so he was walking beside her. He didn’t like talking to the back her head.

Out of the corner of her eye she could see him, making her heart beat a little faster. “I don’t know if it’s that much better here, but I’ve never been anywhere else. What are here for?”

“Business. Nothing special, just that the meeting was supposed to last two hours and only ended up being about twenty minutes. Since I don’t know this city, I didn’t want to get lost and miss the train.”

She nodded her head in time with her steps. “Well, I’ll be sure to have you to the station in time.” She stopped for a second to look at him. “Do you trust me?”

“As much as I do any other stranger.” He couldn’t help it when his hand reached out to brush her hair off her shoulder. “Aren’t you afraid of me? A strange man from a big city…”

She shook her head. “I know people.” She winked and took the hand he had used to brush her hair. “Besides, I’m the one that knows the city. I could easily loose you in a crowd.”

His hand gripped hers, not too hard, just a gentle squeeze to assure that she was truly holding his hand. The girl interested him. She was so tiny and didn’t seem like much of a skilled fighter. What if he had really been out to rape her, and here she was leading him by the hand into the city where anything could happen. “Is there a good ramen shop around?” he suddenly asked.

She tugged at his hand so he was beside her again. Her fingers loosening from his own. “Ramen? So many choices and you want ramen?”

“Ramen’s just the start. I said I was hungry, didn’t I?” And that was how this sort of relationship had started.

“’Gome!” the voice she had just been day dreaming about shouted.

She stood from her seat and swiftly walked over to her lover. “Yash.” She couldn’t restrain the smile from her lips even if she wanted to. “I missed you so much.”

He pulled her into a tight hug. His lips capturing hers in a passionate kiss. After a few long seconds he pulled back. “It feels like I haven’t seen you forever.” He hugged her tightly again, her face snuggling into the crook of his neck. “You had lunch yet?”

She pulled back to look into his eyes. “No, I was waiting for you.” She stood on her tip toes to brush her lips with his.

“All right, then lets get going before I starve to death.” He let her out of his embrace, but kept an arm around her shoulder.

“Right, before you starve,” she mumbled. “Not like I need to eat, either.”

He chuckled. “All right, we’ll get you something, too. Would you like a salad and water?” He loved to tease her and get her riled up. He had never pictured her to much of a fighter, but he had been surprised at how much strength she actually possessed.

“I barely got any breakfast this morning so I need lots of food, preferably lots of meat.” She hadn’t meant for ’meat’ to come out like she wanted something other than food, but she knew that’s what Yash had taken it for.

“You’ll get lots of meat later. I need food in my belly right now.” He chuckled at the pink that now tinted her cheekbones.

She punched his side playfully. “That’s not what I meant and you know it.”

He leaned down to give her a chaste kiss. “I know, but I love teasing you. You’re so cute when you’re angry.” He couldn’t wait to get her home so they could be alone. It was all he had been thinking about for the past two months. He tried to get back to her sooner, but he couldn’t find a suitable excuse without making his father suspicious. He was so grateful to have her in his arms. She had asked him about his family that first time they met, and he had skirted around the issue without her ever mentioning it again. She didn’t seem to mind that he was uncomfortable talking about his life and she still agreed to see him. He knew it been almost three years and she had yet to learn anything about his real life, but her life was safer this way.

“Okay, well let’s get some food so we can go home.” She was pouting but she didn’t care. She was used to the teasing, but he still seemed like a stranger. She knew the man that came to visit her every few months, but that wasn’t the real him. She could tell that his real life was demanding and stressful, and she tried to be as relaxed as possible for him. She never questioned him about his life…aside from that first day when she didn’t know anything about the man. At times, though, she couldn’t help but wonder how he acted when he was away from her, wondered if he had a different life. She often had dreams that he was married and had children, or that he was just passing the time with her and had many other girlfriends. Of course the latter she stopped stressing about after the first year and he still continued to set up dates with her.

Of course he was still pretty young, he was only 20 (a year older than her) when they met. So he was closing in on 23 years of age. Which was next month…”Kags, you okay?”

“Huh…yeah, fine. Why?” She shook her head lightly to clear her thoughts.

“I was just asking where you wanted to eat. Since you always let me eat ramen when I’m starving, I guess I could let you pick this time.”
