Chapter 3

“Morning, baby.” Inuyasha kissed the top of Kagome’s head as she cooked breakfast. “Did you sleep well?” He gave her ass a light squeeze.

Kagome let out a small squeak at her lover’s touch. “If somebody didn’t snore in their sleep.” She smiled as she felt his hands at her shoulder. “And kept trying to rape me in their sleep, too.”

“Aww, baby, that’s just how much I love you,” he pouted.

“Mhm, by keeping me up all night. Especially when you know that we both had to get up early today.” She wished it could always be like this, playing around and never having to worry about real life. She wanted to wake up next to him and cook him breakfast every day. A life she wasn’t sure was ever going to happen at this point.

“Well, you said you went through withdraws, too. I was just trying to make us both happy and satisfied. Besides, you never told me to stop.” He moved away from her to sit at the small table as she finished cooking. He watched her go about her business, getting dishes and cups for the table, turning off the stove and getting the food out of the skillets.

“It’s only ‘cause I know all this has to last for God knows how long. You are leaving today, right?”

His head lowered, if he was in his demon form his ears would be downcast. “Yeah, I gotta go to the meeting and get home. I wish I could stay for more than one day.” He looked back up as she set a plate in front of him. He held her gaze for a second before catching her face between his hands and pulling her down for a kiss. She softly responded, but pulled away.

“Sorry, Yash, I’m just not feeling it,” she said quietly. “I just wish I could see you more, getting to know more about your life and what you really do.” She was beyond frustrated with this whole situation, but she knew she wouldn’t trade it for the world. She could tell that he honestly loved her but at times that wasn’t enough. If he was going to commit to her, then it needed to happen soon.

Inuyasha sighed and rubbed his forehead. He didn’t need this, things had been going perfectly well, but he knew that this day would come. Every woman in a relationship needed some sort of promise of commitment. “I know, I wish I could come here more often, but things in my life are…weird right now.” He didn’t really know how to phrase his life, and he couldn’t come out right and tell her all his dirty little secrets. Maybe in time, if he could ever get away from his family, but he really didn’t see that happening any time soon.

“Weird?” she questioned, her voice coming out a little too shrill. “Yash, you know everything there is to know about me, and I have yet to learn a single thing about you. I know you asked me not to ask you about your past or your life, but it’s been three years! I need to know if this…if we…are going anywhere. ‘Cause if not, then I don’t know if I can continue this little game we play.” Her fists gripped by her sides, her body tensed as she let out all her fears. She could feel the tears building in her eyes, but she did her best to keep them from falling.

“I know,” he said softly, getting up from his seat. He approached her slowly, afraid she was going to take a swing and knock his head off, but she just stood there. Her eyes closed tightly, he took the chance to bring her into a soft embrace. “I promise I’m working on it. My life is just really fucked up at the moment,” he mumbled in her hair.

“I don’t even know what to tell my friends about our relationship. They always bad mouth you ‘cause I tell them you’re not my boyfriend, but I don’t know what else to say.”

“Then don’t. Just let them talk shit about me.”

“But, Yash, I get so tired trying to defend you. I know you’re not a bad person, but since I don’t know anything about you, it’s hard to explain.”

“Kagome, just don’t worry about what your friends think. If they were truly friends then they would keep their noses out of our business. Or at least not trash talk me to your face. They could at least have the decency to wait until you leave.”

Kagome giggled at that statement. “I think I’d much rather have them tell me to my face. At least I know they’re being honest and really care about me.” She looked up at him. “But I really want to know more about you. I don’t care if you’re married and have kids. I’m just tired of being in the dark.”

He kissed her forehead. “Trust me, I’m not married. If I was, I would’ve told ya long ago. And I have no children…that I know of,” he said as he got a thoughtful look.

She slapped his chest and broke out of his hold. “You can never be serious about things, can you?” She knew she was knit-picking, but she wanted to at least see the real him. She picked up the plates that had food on them and turned to put them on the table, but she didn’t get very far. When she turned around, he was right there staring her in the eyes.

“You want me to be serious?” his voice was a little gruffer than usual. “I don’t know if you could handle that.”

She could’ve sworn she heard him growling as he talked, but that would be humanly impossible. She sighed and walked around him, but a hand lashed out and caught her wrist, making her drop one of the plates. It flipped to floor, the food being tossed out around the kitchen floor, as the plate itself shattered when it made contact with the floor. “Yash! What’s the matter with you?!” She went to move from his grasp, but her wrist turned at an odd angle, and she let out a small whimper from the burning sensation.

“You said you wanted me to be serious, ne?” He pulled her back to his body. Their noses touching, and breath mingling at the closeness of their faces. “Well, I’m serious now. So, is this what you wanted? Do you like me better now that I’ve shown you a different side?” His face inched closer, his lips brushing across hers as he talked. “Do you want me to fuck you here on the kitchen table and leave? Never knowing when I’ll be back, no way to contact me and tell me you miss me.”

Kagome was scared, but she wouldn’t let him know. “Y-y-you’re such an asshole s-sometimes.” So much for not letting him pick up on her fear. She took a short, sharp breathe, to calm herself, but she never got to finish. His lips were on hers, his tongue sweeping inside her mouth. She bit down, not trying to hurt him, just trying to get him to back off.

“God damn, bitch!” Inuyasha snapped back from her, letting her wrist go as he went to the sink. “What was that for?!” He knew he had gone too far, but his body wasn’t listening at the moment. His blood seemed to boiling making his skin tingle, and his senses seemed to be coming in a little better. That couldn’t be possible, though. His demon blood was sealed at the moment…so how was he feeling that he was being controlled by it.

Kagome’s shoulders tensed at the name he called her. ‘Bitch!’ “What gives you the right to call me that after what you just did! It was called self defense. I didn’t want you kissing me, so I made you stop.” Her mind was dizzy from the rush of activities that had just passed. She let out a small breathe, as she turned to put the plate that wasn’t shattered on the table. Then she went to start picking up the large pieces of ceramic off the tiling.

“Don’t,” Inuyasha told her softly. He turned to look at her, now knowing that his tongue had bled. “I’ll get it. I was the cause of it, so I’ll pick it up. Besides, don’t need you getting cut up.”

“I’m not a doll, Yash. Just because you think I am. What do you think happens when you’re not here? I do have to fend for myself, ya know.” She continued to pick up pieces, getting as much as she could in one hand. While she was busy making her way to the trash can, Inuyasha grabbed the broom from the small closet in the kitchen. By the time she had turned back around, he was already sweeping the rest of it up. She grumbled under her breathe as she sat in a chair to watch him. “Maybe we should take a break…”

Inuyasha’s head turned so quickly, that he thought he would’ve snapped his own neck. “What? You’re not serious.”

“I don’t know. I mean, we hardly see each other, and if you’re not willing to commit…I just think it’s better to live my life and not be so caught up on us all the time.”

“And this decision has nothing to do with those friend’s of yours?” he asked, as he put the broom back in it’s spot, then took the seat across from Kagome. He leaned over the table, his head resting on his palms. “I told you that I’m working on my life right, so that I can give you a commitment. It’s just gonna take some time.”

Kagome sat back in her chair, hands gripping the pajama bottoms she still wore. “I think you’ve had plenty of time to get your life on track. And I just hate worrying over all this so much. I’m still young…we’re both still young…maybe we should try different things. Maybe you can find some one better.” She couldn’t look at him, not in the eye. She watched his hands rub his face, then his elbows rested on the table as his hands joined together.

“I won’t find anybody better than you. I don’t want anyone else. I only need you, and I will continue to pursue you no matter what you say. I need you in my life.” He scoffed. “I know I sound like some crazy stalker….but, I won’t let you go. At least not until I know it’s better that way.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so, Inuyasha had left on a bad note. Sounding like some crazy stalker in his own mind. It had been their first real fight, and he had been scared shitless when she mentioned going separate ways. He wouldn’t hear anything of it. He would have her as long as he could, for he knew all too soon that things would start getting ugly. Even uglier than today was, and he wasn’t prepared for it. He growled at himself at the pathetic act he had given earlier, as he shook the tension loose from his shoulders. He couldn’t let on that something was bothering him, he knew the moment he walked into that house that his father would know something was off.
The car that had picked him up, drove up the long driveway. The crunch of the gravel under the tires always made Inuyasha drowsy, like how rain on a rooftop made some people sleep better. He sighed and relaxed into the leather seat as the car approached the castle he called home. His father had been alive for several hundred centuries now, and had plenty of time to collect a lot of rare items…and money. Of course, Inuyasha had always seen this castle as more of a prison than a wonderful place to come home to.
He sighed as the car pulled up to the doorway finally, rolling to a stop. He waited for the driver to come around to let him out. Stepping out into the bright sun, Inuyasha blocked his eyes as he made his way to the door. Once inside, he made his way through the corridors and hallways until he reached the grand hall, where he found his father and step-mother. He growled as he saw the bitch hovering over his father. Although he wasn’t close to his father, he still like the idea that SHE had so much control over him. He mumbled his spell under his breath, letting his demon blood flow through him. “I’m home, father,” Inuyasha announced as he strode down the length of the hall, until he reached the foot the stairs. Bowing on one knee, hands fisted and set against the ground, as his head hung low showing his submission.
“Welcome back, my son.”
His father’s voice echoed around the hall as Inuyasha picked his up to look at his father. “Thank you.”
“How did your trip go?”
“Fine. The deal went through without any problems.” He could feel her eyes boring into his skull, and he wanted to tell her to fuck off. Unfournatelly that would get his ass beaten beyond repair. “And the room you set me up with was perfect, as always.”
“That’s good to hear. Although, I don’t know how you would know that, since it seems you never checked in.”
‘Shit! I knew I forgot something.’ Inuyasha gulped, reaching further into his brain for some sort of excuse. He met his father’s eyes, ignoring the burning hole in his forehead. “I’m sorry, father, I just felt like having a little fun.”
“I did not give you permission to have fun on this trip.” Inu no Taisho stood from his seat. His lady sitting back in her seat, a smirk appearing on her pretty face. Taisho approached his son, a low growl emitting from his throat that warned the boy of what was to come.
Inuyasha was snatched from the ground by his shirt collar. ‘Shit, shit, shit!’ Keeping his eyes locked wtih his fathers, knowing that showing fear would only get him further punishment, he prepared his body for what was to come. After a few seconds of waiting, his body was thrown across the hall, his back colliding with a pillar. Inuyasha groaned as he started to pull himself up, but was quickly reminded that he was in more trouble than just that. He had gotten halfway up, when Taisho was upon him, picking him back up and throwing him in the opposite direction. This time it was the back of his head that hit a pillar. ‘Fuck me.’ Inuyasha sat up, not even attempting to stand, as he could already feel his father’s aura fast approaching. Not even having time to think if he wanted to, he was thrown once again, but instead of running into a pillar he hit something worse. His step-mother, smiling wide as he looked up at her, was something he feared worse than death. He screamed in pain as her dainty poisoned hand shot through his stomach.
“You should do as your father says. He knows what’s best for you…of course, I don’t even know why he let you live in the first place. I mean, he already has a son, so why keep you around. But, it is quite fun to torture you.” She let out a cackle of a laugh as she pulled her hand from his body, and let him drop to the floor.
Inuyasha slumped on the floor, not even attempting to move. He coughed, blood spilling out of his mouth. He was slowly losing conscience, but he still felt the bitch moving down to continue her torture when he heard his father. “That’s quite enough. Let him heal these wounds first. I will take care of him later.” He heard the bitch snort in response to his father’s words, before letting the darkness take over.
Inuyash a groaned as he sat up, holding his bandaged stomach. “Damn,” he muttered, as he swung his legs from his bed. He hated when that woman joined in on the punishment. She tortured him to no end…at least until his father would stop her. Inuyasha knew that if it wasn’t for his father interfering, he would be as good as dead. There was no way he was able to fight against those poisoned claws of hers. As he pushed himself up, he saw a note on the nightstand. Picking it up and reading that he was to meet his father in the study when he had awakened.
Inuyasha took a quick shower, washing the sweat and dried blood from his body before getting dressed to meet his father. Walking down the hall, he could feel the eyes of the other demons on him. Feel the cursing of their auras flaring out to test and tease him. He gave a low growl, his eyes shifting from one demon to the next as he passed them, daring any of them to attack. Of course, it was all a show since he was the lord’s son, and if anyone were to harm him would be punished. He made it to the door and knocked. “Enter.” Inuyasha opened the door to see someone he hated almost as much as his step-mother…his half-brother.
“Why, if it isn’t the half breed,” Sesshomaru sneered. “What business do you have here?” he asked coolly. Sesshomaru was full demon, unlike Inuyasha. His long silver hair was smooth and hung just below his waist. Two purple stripes adorned each cheek and a crescent moon on his forehead. His golden eyes narrowed at the half demon, as he approached the desk.
“I asked him to meet me here when healed,” Taisho spoke to his eldest son. “I do believe that our business is done, Sesshomaru.”
“Yes, father.” Sesshomaru bowed deeply before his lord father. “If there is anything else, just let me know.” He turned his head to look at Inuyasha. “Half breed,” he spit out once again.
“Fluffy bastard,” Inuyasha growled back, watching his half-brother leave the room.
“Inuyasha,” Taisho said a little bit too seriously. “You may sit.” Inuyasha nodded and took the seat that was in front of him. “I am very disappointed in you, but that’s not why I asked you here. I know I have mentioned that we found you a suitable bride, and you are to meet with her tomorrow.”
He wanted to raise hell. He didn’t want to be married, at least not to some bitch he didn’t even know. He wanted to raise from his seat and take off running, run to Kagome…
“We have set a date, so you two needed to meet as soon as possible.”
“And when I am getting married?” Inuyasha couldn’t help the little bit of contempt he held in his voice.
“On your birthday. I figured that way you wouldn’t forget about it.” Taisho looked up at his youngest and say the fire that was burning in the boy’s eyes. “You will be there, and you will go through with it. If I have to drag you there myself or perhaps beat you to a bloody pulp the night before.”
“Yes, father, I understand.”
“You may go then.”
Inuyasha stood. “Thank you, father.” He bowed as Sesshomaru had done earlier, and exited the room, make a quick dash back to his room. He had to think of a way to get to Kagome before next month. ‘Fuck!’
