Sesshomaru felt a chill run through his body as his new master spoke the hanyou slave's name. The name of Inuyasha.
'It can't be,' his mind reasoned as his new master approached the hanyou. 'Inuyasha's dead. Has to be.'
Still, there wasn't anyway Sesshomaru could deny what he was seeing. The inu hanyou in front of him greatly resembled his now-deceased father and the human woman his father had mated with. He would never forget how devastated and angry the great InuTaisho had been when the boy had been sold.
'I must find out for sure,' Sesshomaru told himself. 'I will find out. In the meantime . . .'
In the meantime, he had to watch, watch as the hanyou rose to his feet once more and approached the wolf.

Blue orbs gazed at him as Inuyasha approached the wolf youkai. Much like with the inuyoukai, there was anger and resentment in those eyes. The wolf glared at him as Inuyasha motioned for him to rise, as he didn't need to repeat himself. He'd said what he needed to when he'd inspected Sesshomaru.
Reluctantly, almost defiantly, the dark-haired male complied. As he had with Sesshomaru, Inuyasha memorized the youkai's scent to his memory, idly noting how the wolf trembled in anger next to him and that the male was aroused. He had a spicy scent to him otherwise, something Inuyasha found rather pleasing. Within moments, it was over and Inuyasha took a step back, his eyes locking with the wolf's.
“The master wishes to know if you have a name,” he murmured. “If you do not have one, he will give you one . . .”
“It's Kouga,” came the low growl. “I don't need any other name.”
For a moment, Inuyasha could do nothing but stand there. Something about the wolf, and the inuyoukai, suggested to him beings quite dangerous. In a way, it thrilled him. Why, he couldn't say. It just did. The slave in him, however, immediately buried the feeling. Such things were not allowed, such things were dangerous. They led to beatings and being starved because they were feelings of defiance and insubordination. He'd witnessed slaves go through such treatment for such acts, also having been treated harshly for other slaves' behaviours. It was something he wouldn't allow himself to do.
Once the feeling was gone, Inuyasha took a step back and turned his gaze to the crimson-eyed man. Expectant eyes met his.
“Kouga,” Inuyasha managed to squeak out. “His name is Kouga.”
