Always Here But Never Seen

Chapter # 3
Recarnation Of The First Kami Warriors.

It had been a week sense Kagome came back to the feudal era. And she seemed to only get along with Mizu, Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kaede. And intentionally avoiding Inuyasha. For reasons that everyone but Inuyasha knew.

But Kagome had been acting strange this morning. She was talking to herself. Muttering under her breath in another language that only Mizu seemed to understand.

Kagome must have taught Mizu to speak Japanese, because Mizu seemed to speak this other language much better then the one she was using when she talked to them.

“Kagome?” Mizu asked in Japanese
“What?” Kagome asked in the other language.
“Talk to me in Japanese Kagome.” Mizu hissed. “Alright fine. What do you want?” Kagome snapped, she obviously didn’t want to talk when everyone around them could hear her.
“Now tell me what’s wrong?” Kagome rolled her eyes and started muttering to herself again.
“You think she’s gone crazy?” Miroku whispered to Inuyasha.
“It’s a possibility.” Inuyasha replied and Kagome turned to them.
“I have not gone crazy idiots!” she yelled in English.
“Kagome. You’re talking in English. They can’t understand you.” Mizu said, making sure the other could understand what she as saying. “I don’t want them to understand! Mizu something’s not right!” Kagome yelled still in English.
“I don’t care if you don’t want them to understand - wait…what?”
“Something’s not right! I feel like I shouldn’t be here!”

Inuyasha could tell by the way Kagome was acting that something was wrong. And her scent only confirmed that.

“What’s not right Kagome? Why do you feel like you shouldn’t be here?” then blood appeared on Kagome’s stomach through the tank top she was wearing.
“Kagome!” everyone yelled as she fell to her knees. Inuyasha was the first to reach her. Cradling her in his arms as her eyes went wide and glassy.
“Don’t you dare die Kagome.” he hissed.
“Mom….” Kagome whimpered. “Souta.” Her breathing hitched as her eyes closed and a vision of Mikidori appeared in front of them. Mizu jumped and squeaked.
“Mikidori?” Inuyasha asked.
“Young Hanyou Inuyasha.” Mikidori said. “Slayer Sango. Monk Miroku. Kitsune Shippo.” she turned to each one in turn. And her gaze feel on Mizu. “Young Protector Mizu.” And Mikidori bowed.
“W-What are you talking about? Who are you?” Mizu asked, stepping back.
“She created the jewel.” Sango said.
“Jewel, what jewel?”
“Surely if you are here, then Guardian Kagome must have told you about the Jewel Of Four Souls?” Mikidori said. “She never said anything about a jewel.” Mizu snapped. Glaring at Mikidori.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure damn it!” Mizu yelled, and the ground shook beneath her.
“Kagome.” Mikidori called, and Kagome’s eyes snapped open, though they were still glazed over. “Did you not tell this girl about the jewel?”
“The jewel is of no further importance.” Kagome muttered, and she sounded like she was asleep. “I purified it. And it’s here with me.” as if on command the jewel flew out of Kagome’s pocket and into Mikidori’s hands, before Kagome fell limp in Inuyasha’s arms again.
“Kagome!” he yelled, hugging her closer.
“There is no need for worry Young Inuyasha.” Mikidori said sweetly. “Kagome is merely seeing what is happening to the world she grew up in.”
“What is happening?”
“From what I can gather, her home is under attack. And she needs to get there fast.” Mikidori replied. “You are all vital points in the new task. You are all protectors of the Guardian.”
“And who are we supposed to protect?” Inuyasha asked.
“Kagome. You need to protect Kagome.” Mikidori said. “She is in danger as long as she remains in this state.”
“What do you mean!? Is she going to stray like this forever!?” Inuyasha yelled.
“No. Not that state. The way she was when she returned. If she does not continue to care for other’s well being, then she could be a great weapon to the enemy. You need to win her heart Inuyasha.”
“What?”
“Only you have the power to change her, if she so wishes it. Only you have the power to show her that she is not now, nor ever was only your shard detector. Only you have the power to mend the heart which has been damaged so. Only you have the power to help her help the people of her time. She needs you most of all. An she needs you to unlock those feeling she had for you.”
“What do you mean?”
“She loved you once Inuyasha.” Mikidori said with a saddened glace to Kagome. “But you chose Kikyo over her. And she felt saddened. Still does. That is why she had been avoiding you for some time now. But all of you must return to the future.”
“What do you mean return?” Miroku asked.
“You were all born in the future, but simply sent back in time at birth to live the lives of your past selves who could not protect the jewel from Naraku. When Lady Kikyo died the first time, the whole world was changed, making Kagome who should have been born here to help you with your mission, be born in the future. But that seems to help us now.” Mikidori spoke slowly and she seemed to be fading ever so slightly. “You are all recarnation of the first group of Kami Warriors. And Kagome is the most vital of you all.”
“Why is that?”
“Because she’s Kikyo’s recarnation.” And Kagome’s eyes imminently snapped open, and they weren’t glazed over anymore.
“Is that all I am to you people!? Just Kikyo’s recarnation? Nothing but a worthless copy!?” she screamed.
“You are more then just her recarnation Kagome.” Mikidori said. “You have surpassed Kikyo’s power. And that of my powers. You are Kikyo’s recarnation-”
“I already know that!”
“And my recarnation-”
“What?”
“ You always wondered why you were brought here in the first place, Yes? It is because you are the recarnation of Kikyo and myself, along with Kami Suzuki herself.”
“Kami Suzuki?” Mizu muttered and she gasped. “I know her! Well…not personally. But she’s supposed to be the Warrior Goddess. And said to be the most beautiful of Kamis.” Kagome snorted. “I’m not beautiful.” she muttered to herself. That’s what you think. a certain dog-eared hanyou thought.
“Ah, at least you have some knowable of what is going on. Do you know who you are recarnated from Young Mizu?”
“No…” she said slowly.
“Mizu.” Kagome whispered. “What?”
“No…not you…err…sort of. The Water Goddess?” Kagome asked.
“Ah, I see some of your memories are returning young Kagome. And yes. Mizu was a friend of yours. Or…of Suzuki’s.” Mikidori said. “Now do you see why you too instantly clicked as you call it?” Kagome laughed.
“Ironic isn’t it. I’m a goddess. Mizu’s a goddess, and out past lives knew each other.”
“It is not just you who are gods and goddesses.” Mikidori cut it. “Everyone of you was a recarnation of the first Kami Warriors as I said earlier. But you are all recarnated gods as well. As the Kami Warriors were the Kamis themselves. Sango. You are The Goddess Of Moon: Tsuki.” Mikidori turned to Miroku. “Miroku. You are the God Of Wisdom: Rikou.” She turned to Shippo. “Shippo. My dear Shippo. So young were you when you lost your family, and still so young when you fought Naraku. And yet you still cared for Kagome, the reason your parents were dead. Shippo, You are the God of Love: Aijou.” she turned to Inuyasha. “Young Inuyasha.-”
“What?” Kagome glared at him.
“Shut up and listen.” and he instantly shut his mouth.
“That is another trite of Suzuki’s. She was able to intimidate anyone she chose. And the men always came flocking.” Kagome snorted. “That’s not entirely wrong Kagome. Back home you have a fan club of guys who just sit there and drool over your pictures.”
“I still say their stockers.” Kagome muttered.
“But Inuyasha. You are God Of War: Gunryo.”
“Hey I remember him!” Kagome and Mizu said at the same time.
“Suits him well.” Kagome said. “Gunryo was always arrogant, egotistic, rude, selfish, stubborn-”
“You’re husband is I remember correctly.”
“W-What?” Kagome’s voice broke and she blinked a few times. “Not mine. Suzuki’s.”
“Right. Forgive me Kagome.” Mikidori said. But Inuyasha had yet to say anything. His eyes were wide, and his face was red.
“But Kagome. Without Gunryo you’d still be the Goddess Of The Underworld. Am I right?” Kagome groaned. “Are you always gonna rub that in my face? So what if I was the Goddess Of The Underworld? It was fun.”
“You really are strange Kagome.”
“Kiss my ass.” Mikidori chuckled.
“That will not be happening anytime soon. But you do realize that you are not really awake yet don’t you Kagome.”
“What?”
“I have only awakened you long enough for you to hear what I am saying. You will fall unconscious again soon-” and she fell back wards, Inuyasha catching her instantly. “Take good care of her Inuyasha. And remember. You must win her heart again, make her believe in love again, and you must all go through the well. But just remember that you can only go there and never return. You will have all the knowledge of the future. How to dress, how to act, how everything woks. Kagome will still protect the jewel, as it still has power. So make your choice.” And Mikidori was gone.
“We…can never come back?” Sango whispered. She didn’t really have anything holding her back, other then Miroku. If he chose to stay, then so would she.
“Well, lets go.” Inuyasha said, picking up Kagome.
“You’re not even going to give them a choice?” Mizu asked.
“Oh they have a choice.”
“And that is?”
“They come peacefully or I drag them there.” Mizu looked at Miroku and Sango who only shrugged, and Shippo was already following after Kagome and Inuyasha. Sighing she followed them.

Once out of the well and well house everyone gasped at the sight they saw. In the middle of the courtyard was Kagome’s mother. Blood seeping out of her many wounds and they knew right off that she were dead. While Kagome’s little brother was being held in the air by his neck by a demon.
“If your mother didn’t know where the girl is, perhaps you would.” it hissed.

Setting Kagome down on the ground gently Inuyasha ran towards the demon, slashing it to pieces. And grabbing Souta as he fell.
“Inuyasha!”
“You alright kid?” Inuyasha asked
“Yeah, my necks a little sore though.” then he noticed his mother and he chocked back a sob.
“It’s alright kid. We’ll have a burial for her soon enough. Kagome just has to wake up soon.” Inuyasha said, landing beside everyone else.
“Kagome!” Souta flew out of Inuyasha’s grasp and to his sisters side. Silent tears on his cheeks. “Come on Kagome. Wake up.” he sobbed. “What happened to her?”
“We don’t know. She just stated bleeding and she was whimpering your name and ‘mom.’” Inuyasha said,
“Maybe it was because we were silently calling out to her. Or at least I was, I was hopping that when she went back, she’d find you, and come back to save us. Or at least save mom,” Souta glanced back at her and his body raked with silent sobs.

“Sssh…it’s alright.” Sango whispered, rubbing Souta’s back a little. And he let more tears fall, landing on Kagome’s face. Making her scrunch it up and open her eyes.
“S-Souta?” she asked. “What’s wrong?”
“Kagome.” he whispered and as she sat up he latched onto her.
“Souta?” she asked then she noticed her mother’s body. “Oh god.” ears filled her eyes but she blinked them back. She needed to be strong, at least for Souta. “Sssh….you’re fine now Souta. I’m here, and I’m not going to leave you okay?” He nodded into her shoulder but wouldn’t let go.

Kagome sat there for a good 5 minutes, rocking her brother while he cried. While everyone else went about cleaning up the blood and digging a gave for her mother in the privet graveyard behind the house.

It surprised everyone that Kagome had yet to spill one tear over everything that happened. As they sat there after Souta feel asleep in her lap on the couch. She was gently running her fingers through his hair in a sisterly way when Inuyasha walked in and sat beside her.
“Hey.” he said. He was still dressed in his fire rat kimono and he looked slightly odd, sitting there in her living room like that.
“Hey.” she replied, not taking her eyes off her brother.
“You okay?”
“Yeah…I’m fine.” She said, shifting so that Souta was leaning on Inuyasha as she got up. “You wouldn’t mind taking him to his bedroom would you? I’ have to go do something.” and she walked out of the house without waiting for an answer.

“I find it strange, that she hasn’t cried yet.” Miroku said as he walked in.
“Not really. She didn’t cry when her grandfather died either. Actually to tell you the truth, I haven’t seen Kagome cry in 10 years.” Mizu said while Inuyasha carried Souta up into his room. That’s when he heard the scream.

She walked out to the graveyard. Trying to hold back the tears as she did with her grandfather. What had happened here? Why did her mother have to die? Why did she have to bring the jewel back here, to this time and put everyone in danger?

She saw her mother’s freshly dug grave, and her grandfathers old one. That had been dug 7 years prior. She knew she couldn’t keep these tears in any longer. And she screamed, sinking to her knees with tears flowing freely down her face for the first time in 10 years.
“WHY!?” she screamed into the sky. “WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DIE!?” she didn’t notice the group behind her as she continued to scream at no one. “YOU STUPID BASTARDS! WHY DID YOU TAKE THEM!? WHY DON’T YOU JUST SEND YOUR DEMONS AND KILL ME NOW!?” she couldn’t form words anymore so resorted to crying into her hands as Inuyasha came up behind her.

Placing an arm around her shoulders he allowed her to turn into him and cry it all out. And they stayed that way well into the night, after everyone had decided that Inuyasha could take care of Kagome and went into the house.

Sniffling Kagome pulled back stared at the now completely soaked chest of Inuyasha.
“S-Sorry.” she muttered.
“No problem.” he said with a small smiled. “You okay now?”
“I….I think so.”
“Do you want to go inside?”
“I think I want to go to bed really.” she said and he lifted her up, carried her to the front of the house and jumped onto her window sill.
“Is it still unlocked?”
“I dunno.” and he pulled it open, smiling.
“Expecting someone?” he asked with a hint of playfulness in his voice.
“Maybe.” She pulled her shirt off, and tugged her pants down and when she turned she was slightly happy and slightly offended that Inuyasha had turned his back.

Still in her bra and underwear Kagome climbed onto the bed, stretched her legs and pushed the covers back, that’s when Inuyasha noticed something on her ankle.
“Kagome. You do know theirs something on your ankle right?”
“Why were you watching my legs Inuyasha?” she asked playfully and he blushed. “I wasn’t I just noticed it baka.”
“What ever. But yeah I know. It’s another tattoo.”
“What is it?” and he leaned down closer, and saw that it was a silver dog. “A silver dog?” he looked over his shoulder and saw her smiling at the tattoo.
“Mizu suckered me into it. She’s got the same one on her ankle too. Supposed to be some kind of friendship thing. And seeing as Mizu hates tattoos with a passion, I must mean a lot to her if she got one. The fact that it was her idea was really shocking.”

The fact that she didn’t get it because it reminded her of him hurt a little, but he understood. She was mad at him, why would she want anything that reminded her of him.
“I’m guessing she suckered you into getting silver in your hair too.”
“Huh?” “Well she’s got what looks like silver or white streaks in her hair. She must have-”
“She was born with them like that.” Kagome said. Smiling. “The same way you were born with silver hair.” and Inuyasha noticed the other tattoos on her hips, the ones that she had hidden from him before.

She glared at him. “And just what are you staring at?” she snapped. And he traced a finger over the kanji for ‘Strength.’
“I don’t entirely think that ones wrong.” he muttered to himself. And he traced ‘friendship.’ “That ones debatable.” he said smirking at her expression.
“No it’s not! I got the friendship one cuz I liked and cared for Mizu enough to get a stupid silver dog on my ankle.” and she regretted it when she said it, just the way he looked. And she hadn’t regretted saying anything in 10 years. “I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Sure you did.” and he went to move but she grabbed his wrist.
“Don’t you dare go all defensive on me.” she hissed. “I should be the one going defensive.”
“And why is that?” She traced both kanji again and he blushed realizing just how close he had been to something else. Only a little lower and…

He shook his head and smirked at her. “Sorry.”
“Wow. I’m gone 10 years and you start saying sorry. Almost makes me regret that I wasn’t there.” And when he started to open his mouth she added “Almost.”
“You….you didn’t really want to come back?”
“Not really. And not like I was given much choice. The first time I’ve been back here was about a week ago.”
“So you came back, and just jumped back down the well?”
“Hey. Mizu wanted to train. And I’d do anything for Mizu.”
“Hmmm…I guess you really are a good friend.”
“Damn straight.”
“So where were you?”
“America.” She looked at him. “You do know where that is right?”
“Yeah.”
“How?”
“Dun no.” she glared at him and smiled.
“That really helps.”
“I knew it would.” and she laughed before linking her hands behind her head and leaning down on the pillows.
“Why me?” she muttered to herself.
“Huh?” she didn’t seem to hear him.
“Why did I have to be born on this stupid shrine? With that stupid old tree, the stupid well, and why the hell am I a recarnation of 2 of the strongest mikos the world’s ever seen AND a goddess? I think that’s too much to swallow.” she muttered.
“Are you talking to yourself?” Inuyasha asked with a quirked eyebrow.
“Huh? Did you say something?” she asked, pealing her eyes off the ceiling and lock them on his. He laughed, something he hadn’t done in 10 years and she smiled. One of those smiles he hadn’t seen in 10 years, and it was the one he loved so much.
“God I missed you.” he said, flopping down at the foot of the bed, and flattening himself on it.

“Did you now?” she asked, wiggling her foot under his back, as he seemed to like laying on it. Until he lifted his back and she slipped in out from under him.

“Yeah. I didn’t even realize that I-” he stopped and his eyes went wide at what he almost said.
“That you what?” she asked, so what if she felt like he was going to say how much he loved Kikyo, her voice didn’t show it. So he didn’t need to know.
“Nothing.” he muttered, before sitting up and going to the door.
“Ah shit.” Kagome muttered. Pulling herself off the bed and going to the door. “Are you following me?”
“No.”
“Stocker.” she laughed.
“No, I just have to get Sango’s and Miroku’s sleeping areas ready.” and not bothering to grab a robe or anything walked out the door.

And she was meet by an equally undressed Souta.
“You still walk around in your underwear?” she asked.
“I could say the same for you.”

Kagome looked down at herself and Inuyasha expected her to squeal and jump back in the room. But instead she shrugged and walked on. And he gave her back a weird look.

“Oh my god.” Souta whispered, watching how the dragon on her back moved.
“What?”
“Cool tattoo!” he yelled, watching it more. Kagome laughed.
“I knew you’d like it. Come on. Go get Ji-chan’s room ready for Miroku. And I’ll go get-” she choked back a sob, knowing that she couldn’t cry in front of her little brother. “Mom’s room ready for Sango.” You could tell by her voice that she wanted to cry.

Inuyasha was amazed by the way she held back her tears as she changed the sheets in her mother’s room. And picked out some of her mother’s clothes for Sango to wear the next day.

He followed her into Souta’s room. And Souta greatly disagreed when she started digging through his closet. Looking for something for Inuyasha to wear tomorrow.

“Oh my god.” she muttered. “Souta! You’re worse then Miroku!” she yelled, throwing a magazine at him.
“Sis.”
“You’re not 8 anymore, that’s not going to work.”
“You’re not supposed to be going through my closet!”
“I can if I want to. And I’m pretty sure Inuyasha doesn’t want to walk around naked tomorrow.”

Inuyasha was glad that Kagome’s head was back in the closet so she couldn’t see his blush. But Souta saw it and was about to say something before Inuyasha clamped a hand over his mouth.
“Say a word and you won’t live to see tomorrow.” he hissed.
“Threatening my brother are we?” Kagome growled, sending a glare at him.

Fortunately due to the bagginess of his hakama Kagome couldn’t see the effect she had on him standing there like that. Hands balled into fists on her hips, pierced eyebrow raised in amusement and questioning. He could see her lips twitching and her eyes were narrowed in a friendly glare. Much like Sango used to use. And his gaze kept being drawn to her hips. And he gulped feeling himself harden even more then he already was.

“Are you okay?” she suddenly asked, walking towards him and the semi-struggling Souta. Placing a hand on his shoulder snapped him out of it and he jumped a bit. “Sorry what?” he asked a little confused. Being around Miroku too long was defiantly what brought that images into his mind. Not that he hadn’t imagined that before. Just never that graphic.

“I asked if you were okay. You were staring at me and you spaced out.”
“Uh…yeah I’m fine.” he muttered, slightly embarrassed that she caught him staring.
“Alight. If you say so.” and she moved past him, lightly brushing his thigh with her hip making him mentally groan as he followed her.
“Now where are you going?” he snapped. Walking slightly awkwardly behind her. “We have to get Miroku and Sango don’t we?” and she headed down the stairs.

Mizu whistled when Kagome reached the bottom and Kagome flashed her a flirty smile.
“Hottie alert!” she yelled into the living room. Making Kagome laughed. “Don’t flatter yourself Mizu.”
“I was talking about you but that’s mean.” she said with a fake pout.
“Come on. I love you.” and she pushed Mizu to the wall, grinder her hips against her and kissed her cheek.
“I know, I know.” Mizu kissed her cheek and grinded back. Kagome laughed and turned to the three people standing in the living room, staring at her with wide eyes. “What?” she asked moving towards Sango.

“Miroku, close your mouth.” Kagome snapped, completely unfazed at Miroku’s hungry gaze on her. Inuyasha on the other hand wasn’t over looking it and he whispered into the monk’s ear.
“Keep your hands to yourself unless you wanna see em’ chopped off.” Miroku gulped but couldn’t keep his eyes off Kagome. “And you better find somethin’ else to look at before I ripe your eyes out of their sockets.” and Miroku’s eyes suddenly sound the wall opposite him very interesting. “Good.” and Inuyasha walked away, keeping a watchful eye on the monk.

“Okay, Sango, Miroku come with me.” Kagome said heading up the stairs. Miroku and Sango’s gaze was stuck on the dragon moving in front of them.

Sango had seen some of it when Kagome took baths with her and Mizu, so she wasn’t so surprised by it. Miroku was though, extremely.
“Uh…Kagome?” he asked and he heard Inuyasha’s low warning growl.
“Yes Miroku?”
“You’ve got a dragon on your back, and it’s moving.” surprisingly she laughed.
“I told you, it’s another one of my tattoos.”
“She’s famous for them.” Mizu muttered. “I am not. I’m famous for my voice idiot.” she was talking in that strange English language again, and surprisingly they all understood it.

“You weren’t speaking Japanese were you Kagome?” Inuyasha asked.
“No, why?”
“Cuz I just understood what you said.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“S o did I.” Sango said,
“Me too.” Miroku and Shippo said at the same time.
“Damn, I’m gonna have to start talking in Spanish or something.” Kagome muttered.
“I guess Mikidori let them know the language.” Mizu said. “Well that’s good. Seeing as mostly everyone around here speaks it.” And Kagome took a right at the top of the stairs.

“Alright Miroku. You and Inuyasha can stay in here.” she opened Ji-chan’s door and stepped aside as Miroku went inside.
“Inuyasha.” Kagome hissed and he just shrugged and said
“Keh.”
“Oh no, not you too.” Mizu groaned. “Huh?” Inuyasha asked completely confused. “now I get it, I see were you got most your attitude.” Mizu said to Kagome. And she shrugged.
“What can I say? I hung around him for like 3 years.”
“Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?” Inuyasha snapped. “Apparently Mikidori didn’t make you any smarter.” Kagome muttered. Inuyasha glared at her.

“Kagome used to say ‘Keh’ when ever I asked her a question she didn’t wanna answer. It got on my nerves a lot. And when ever someone told their dog to sit she’d winch.” and both Inuyasha and Kagome winched at that. “What is wrong with you? It’s a simple command, every dog owner says it.”
“That’s not it.” Kagome snapped. “I can’t say S-I-T.” she spelled it out and Inuyasha still winched.
“Why not?”
“Watch.”
“Don’t you dare.” Inuyasha growled.
“Sorry.” Kagome whispered. “SIT!” and Inuyasha went crashing to the ground. Shippo laughing.
“God I missed seeing him to that!” he said between laughs.
“Oh my god…” Mizu muttered, trying to hold back her laughs. “Are you okay?” she asked from above him.
“Perfect.” came him muffled reply before they heard him say. “Kagome, I’m gonna get you back this time. I didn’t even do anything.”
“Not yet.” and she opened her mother’s door.
“Sango and Mizu can stay in here.”
“But Kaggy.” Mizu whined.
“No. I’m finally back in my house. I’d prefer if I didn’t hear you snore.”
“I do not snore.”
“You do to. Why do you think I feel asleep so much in class?”
“You never paid attention to being with,”
“That’s not the point.” Mizu sighed but headed in anyways. “Night Sango, Mizu.” and she closed the door. “Go to bed Miroku.” she whispered in a harsh whisper and he quickly nodded, closing the door. And Kagome knelt in front of Inuyasha who just lifted his head.

After 10 years of not getting sat, that one actually hurt, even though he had braced himself for the command he knew was coming.
“I’m sorry. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Just fine.” he muttered. That you are. Kagome thought. What the hell? Where did that come from?
‘You like him. You know it.’ a voice said inside her head.
Go away.
Alright, but I’ll be back.

Kagome helped Inuyasha up and went to open the door to Miroku’s room when he grabbed her wrist.
“I’m not leaving you alone.” he hissed. “Not after what happened today.”
“I’ll be fine. I can take care of myself.” and to prove it she yanked her hand out of his surprisingly tight grip. He just stared at his hand in shock.

“I don’t care if you can take care of yourself or not.” he said after a minute. “I promised to protect you once. Remember.” and at her nod he continued. “And that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. I never go back on my promises.”
“You broke one.”
“Oh yeah? What one?”
“You didn’t go to hell with Kikyo. Even though you promised you would.” and she walked into her room, closed the door and all he could do was blink at it confused.

Though what she told him was indeed true he had never meant to break that promise. It was just that after Kagome left, Kikyo had revealed to Inuyasha that she had gotten poisoned by Naraku, and the only one who cold have healed her was Kagome. If she had wanted to. And she told him that minutes before the poison killed her.

He’d never forget that night. When he sat there, Kikyo in his arms as they watched the stars. And then he slowly started to feel like her presence was leaving him. And when he looked over Kikyo was indeed fading.

He had kissed her for the last time that night, and he could feel his heart breaking. But yet at the same time he had felt like it was necessary. And somehow despite how he felt he knew that this was right. He knew that he was supposed to stay alive, for some reason. And he realized shortly after Kagome had returned that it was because Kagome need him to make her realize that she wasn’t just a worthless recarnation anymore. That she actually meant something to him, that she always had meant something to him. Even if he hadn’t noticed that before.

He sighed and opened the door leading to his and Miroku’s room. Seeing that the monk was still up and staring out t he window. Where the now full moon shone through.

“So. You’re not staying with Kagome tonight?” Miroku asked softly.
“No. I think she needs to be along tonight.” Inuyasha replied, situating himself against the wall and closing his eyes.
“She was talking about Kikyo, wasn’t she?”
“How’d you know?”
“You’ve got that look on your face. When ever someone bring her up or you see her, it’s always on your face.”
“You haven’t even looked-” he stopped when he opened his eyes and saw Miroku staring at him. A weird look in his eyes.
“What? Miroku what’s wrong?”

Despite the hanyou’s naturally gruff nature, Miroku knew that Inuyasha cared deeply for him, Sango, Kagome even Shippo. And he had taken Kagome’s leaving the hardest. Seeing as it was him she had attacked. And to tell you the truth, Kagome was like Miroku’s sister. So he was taking a pretty hard toll from the way he had seen her screaming and crying out by the graves earlier.

“Do you think she’ll be alright?” he asked softly. And Inuyasha instantly knew who he was talking about. He was talking about Kagome.
“Kagome’s strong. She’ll be fine.” I hope. he added that thought in his mind. And he knew that no matter what was thrown at him, he would protect Kagome with everything he had. Seeing as he loved her after all. Now the only question was how to tell her.

Inuyasha had been right, even though he hadn’t said it to her. Kagome just needed some time to herself. Being around her old friends had stirred something in her, and she didn’t like it. She was starting to feel like she did back then, relaying on them when ever she turned around.

Kagome was no longer the girl they used to know, she could take care of herself quiet well. It was just a coincidence that Inuyasha and them had been there when she was crying. If she hadn’t screamed out like that maybe they wouldn’t have come. And she would have been left alone to cry like always.

She was slightly happy that the scars on her arms were unnoticeable. Mizu and Inuyasha would have had a fit if they found out. But she knew that even if they found out that she used to cut herself, things wouldn’t have changed. The past was the past, and it was supposed to stay that way.

But she was glad that she was with them again. She had deeply missed them while she was away. And she had wanted to get on the first plane she could, fly back here, jump down the well and apologize for everything that she had ever down, ever said, and for everything that she had done that caused everyone to hurt. But she never did.

Sighing she traced the kanjis’ on her hips. Feeling a ghost of Inuyasha’s touch. How it had been unusually soft, despite the way he usually acted and fought.

She wondered how someone like him could have hands that soft. The way he tore up his enemies, gripped Tetsusaiga, or threatened Miroku every time he had gotten near her. That surprised her too.

She sighed again, and despite her better judgement, she wished he was back here, and sitting with her. Talking with her. Hell, she wouldn’t mind if he chose that time to just sit in the tree outside her window and stare at her all night, just as long as she knew he was there.

Speaking of that tree, she got up, and went to the window. Staring out at the full moon in front of her. She shook her head, trying to rid it of all thoughts of Inuyasha. She had seemed to be thinking about him a lot in the past week.

She sighed heavily again, and walked back to her bed, crawling onto it she pulled the covers up to her chin and rolled on her side, facing the wall. Closing her eyes she drifted off into a deep slumber.

But she knew deep in her heart that she loved the hanyou currently next door to her room. But, she knew she could never tell him, in hopes that it wouldn’t ruin their friendship that she was currently getting back after so long.

Alright, Alright, kill me now! Sorry for the long wait I just couldn’t get this chapter to work the way I wanted it too. It always turned out wrong. It still seems a little wrong to me. So, tell me your thoughts on it. And hopefully it doesn’t completely suck ass like I think it does. Opps, sorry, forget about what I just said. I’m got a slight probably with the cussing. But oh well. Hope you like it. Tell me if it sucks like I think it does. I don’t mind flames. But anywho…..did I just say anywho? o.O Anyways, please review and give me thoughts on other chapters. Oh and if anyone’s interested I’m still looking for a beta. Though no one really reads these author notes. Mine are incredibly long. But anyways. Review anyways. Have A Nice Day!!
