Amaterasu High

A/N: I wrote this chapter…. Then my computer went PSYCHO and killed it! Technology… can't live with it! Can't live without it! Grrrr… here's the chapter… AGAIN!

Chapter 7: Monday Madness

KAGOME:

I sat in the car with Sango on our way too school. The whole way I had been staring out the window thinking about… well, something. Something I didn't know about yet. Then it dawned on me. Him, I was thinking about him and not even realizing it. His face suddenly flashed in my mind's eye and I felt my heartbeat race at just the thought of him.

One word floated into my thoughts…

…LOVE.

But I mentally shook myself and thought, No. This couldn't be love! How could I fall in love when I'm only a Senior in high school! No one falls in love that early! Wait a minute… yes they do. Senior year is when my Mom and Dad met. Well… still!!! It's way too early for me! I should at least be in college when I fall in love! Right? Right!

"Um, Kagome?"

"Huh?"

"I think you're starting to drool…"

I blinked and stopped staring out the window," Sorry…"

Sango laughed and said," It's okay Kagome. I'm sure you have a lot on your mind. Well, here we are! Come on Rachel!"

Sango winked and took her key from the ignition while stepping out of her car.

I smiled and looked down at my anime costume. I had dressed up as Rachel Moore from Case Closed. The show is about a teenage guy that gets turned into a kid and has to solve a bunch of mysteries like Sherlock Holmes. Rachel is the girl he's crushing on. She's very skilled in karate and very smart. I loved her character.

I also smiled when I remembered Sango had dressed up as Sailor Mars. She looked almost exactly like her too!

As we walked up to our group of friends sitting on a grassy spot I took in their outfits.

Sesshomaru had dressed as Tsukasa from .Hack//Sign along with Rin dressed as Subaru. There was another boy with short brown hair sitting with them that I didn't recognize. So I strolled up along with Sango.

Rin squealed," OH! You guys look SO-O-O-O CUTE!"

Sesshomaru winced and the brown haired guy growled and said," Jeez woman! Can you scream any louder?"

Sesshomaru gave the boy a very harsh look before turning to Rin and saying in a gentle voice," Rin, how about we take the tone of voice down a bit?"

She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck," Of course Sesshy!"

The brown haired boy laughed and asked," Sesshy???"

Sesshomaru scowled and said," Be quiet Inuyasha."

I blinked and turned towards the boy.

Oh my god! It was Inuyasha! With short brown hair! I gasped and stared at him until he looked at me and said gruffly," What?"

"Your-your hair-"

"What about it?"

"It's… short and brown…"

"I cut it and dyed it? So what?"

"How long are you keeping it like that?"

He crossed his arms and replied," Just for today."

"Inuyasha," I said a little impatiently," that's PERMANENT dye! And hair does not grow that fast!"

"I'm not normal."

"Yeah! I'd say you're a little TOO abnormal!"

He growled and said," I have demon blood which doesn't allow dye to stick to my hair very well and it grows very, VERY fast! Now drop it wench!"

I closed my mouth and dropped it immediately. He hadn't called me wench since the beginning of the year. Had we really grown that far apart?

INU:

I felt guilty for calling her wench but I was too peeved to think about that. All of us jumped when somebody yelled," Hey guys!"

It was a boy wearing a tuxedo and cape paired with matching top hat. A white mask covered his eyes too.

Rin said puzzedly," Tuxedo Mask?"

And Sango said exasperatedly," Miroku…"

Rin smiled and said," Hey Miroku!"

"Good morning Rin! Kagome! Inuyasha and Sesshomaru!"

He spotted Sango who was trying to hide herself behind Kagome but failing miserably.

"Sango, my dearest!"

He strolled over and grasped her hand in his while kneeling on one knee," Oh Sango, my love! How I love thee, with a face as angelic as me-"

SMACK!

Kagome stood with her eyebrow twitching slightly over an unconscious Miroku.

"That top hat must be cutting off your circulation of blood to your brain…"

Sango hugged Kagome and said," Oh thank you!"

Kagome gave a bashful grin and said," No problem Sango!"

The bell indicating the start of school rang and students began crowding the small halls of the high school. I watched as Sango and Kagome walked off to chemistry and Sesshomaru with Rin began heading for their English class. I sighed and picked up Miroku supporting him with my shoulder.

"Did she say yes?"

I sighed and helped him up the stairs," Nope."

"Damn…"

KAGOME:

I sat in my assigned seat waiting for the class to start when a male voice interrupted my waiting.

"Hello Kagome."

I turned and felt my stomach lurch at the sight of Koga.

"Uh, hello… Koga…" I said, my voice a couple octaves higher than usual.

He sat on top of the stool next to me and grasped one of my hands.

"Kagome? Would you do me the honor of accompanying me to the Homecoming Dance?"

Eep! Shit!

INU:

I listened as Kagome's voice became strained as if she were nervous. I turned to see Koga grasping onto her hand and asking her… TO GO TO HOMECOMING???

Aw, hell no! That conniving wolf is not going to take Kagome to the dance! No way, no how!

I walked over and grabbed a stool, set it next to Kagome's and sat down. She turned her head and gave me inquiring look which I answered by saying," So, are you and Kenji still going to Homecoming together, right?"

"…Huh?"

"He asked me to ask you if you still wanted to go with him?"

I flickered my gaze to Koga's face and was satisfied to see a mixture of shock and anger.

Kagome was silent until," Um, yes I would like to go with him but I don't remember-"

"Great! I'll have him call you tonight."

"But-"

"Make sure to be home at 6:00. Okay? Later."

I stood up and walked back to my seat next to Miroku thinking to myself, very slick Inuyasha.

Miroku cleared his throat and I replied," What?"

"So… Kagome's going with Kenji?"

"Yeah."

"You do remember that Kenji is… you, right?"

"…"

"Damn, you really ARE that dense…"

"…"

SMACK!

"OW-W-W-W!!!"

Miroku grabbed his head that now sported a really big bump on it.

"You deserve it," I grumbled at him.

He glared at me and said," I was gonna offer you a spell to turn you human you know."

I turned to him and said," REALLY?"

Miroku turned away and said," Yes, but not now."

"But Miroku!"

"Not unless you wash my car and fill up the tank along with…that new game you got for your Play Station 2."

I fell my blood boil, but if I didn't do this I had nothing.

"Fine!"

"Great!" Miroku exclaimed clapping me on the back.

"Come to my house after to school on Friday and we'll get you fixed up for your big night with Kagome."

Oh, he was going to get it after this week…

KAGOME:

I yawned as I walked along the sidewalk towards my house. I held the medal around my neck eyelevel so I could inspect it. I smiled at the memory of Rin and I dancing in the Dance Off at lunch today.

(FLASHBACK)

"…And the winners for the Senior Class are: Rin Chikaro and Kagome Higurashi!!!"

Rin screamed at the tops of her lungs and clung to my arm as the gym erupted in shouts and clapping. She dragged me up to the microphone to accept our awards. After the medal was placed around her neck she turned to the audience and started smiling and waving. She then grabbed the microphone from the announcer and said," Thank you Amaterasu High! We would have been nothing without you! I love you Sesshy!"

I felt myself grow hot and I rushed over to pry the microphone out of her insane hands.

"Kagome, what are you-"

I succeeded and shoved it back to the announcer who looked very annoyed.

"Sorry about that!"

I pushed Rin off stage and into the girl's locker room.

"You, Rin Chikaro are a INSANE little girl."

"What? I was just giving the public what they wanted."

I rolled my eyes and pushed her head down with my hand," You freak."

She glared and flipped up the middle finger and said," Bitch."

I glared back and returned the gesture and replied," Bitch."

We stood glaring until we both smiled and she hugged me," I knew you still loved me."

"Yep."

Suddenly the bell rang and girls began filing in for the beginning of PE, which I remembered we had next. Sakura walked up to us and said," Seniors won for the costumes today!"

I smiled and said," Great!"

(FLASHBACK OVER)

(A/N: That's the way me and my best friend greet each other. Lol.)

I started ascending the shrine steps and saw my mother sweeping up the grounds. I ran up to her and said," Mama! Guess what?"

"What?"

"I've got a date to Homecoming this Saturday!"

My mother smiled and hugged me," Oh Kagome! I'm so happy for you! So let's get your dress already!"

I smiled and said," Thanks Mama!"

"Go and get my purse form the house Kagome and drop off your stuff."

I nodded and ran to the house.

KAGOME STILL:

I gasped as we walked into the store that had such a large variety of dresses. My mother smiled down to me and walked over to the counter.

"Is Tessa here today?" she asked the woman behind the counter.

"Yeah, she's in the back. I'll get her for you."

The woman disappeared into a back room and out came a pretty woman wearing and amethyst colored outfit. I noticed she jangled every time she moved because she wore bangle bracelets on both of her wrists.

She smiled at the sight of my mother and said," Emi! How are you? How's the family?"

"Oh, I'm great. The family is also fine. In fact I'm here with my daughter for a dress."

"Oh! Is that little Kagome?"

She walked over to me and held out a hand which I shook," I haven't seen you since you were a baby! Look how much you've grown, and you're so beautiful. Just like your mother."

My mother laughed and said," Oh, Tessa! Stop that!"

"It's the truth Emi."

"Well, let's get going shall we? Kagome needs a dress for her Homecoming Dance this Friday."

Tessa smiled and said," Homecoming? How sweet! Well, let's have a look at you Kagome."

She twirled me around and said," Hmmm, yes… a very nice figure. That's another thing she gets from you Emi. Green seems to be a color that mixes well with you…"

I blinked as she held up swatches of color to my face to see the colors that looked good. I felt slightly uncomfortable as she measured me. Then she led us to the dressing rooms and disappeared to find me a dress.

She returned with a couple, which I tried on. I didn't care for any of them. Until she pulled out a long black gown that had a long slit down the front tied with a green string. Along the slit was a border of jade green flowers that also trailed up to the top and across the top of the tube top. I smiled and snatched it up. I looked at myself and felt my heart soar.

It was beautiful! I loved it! I came out of the dressing room and my mother said," Oh Kagome! It's gorgeous!"

Tessa walked over and circled around me," Yes, that is a very nice dress. I think we've found it."

I nodded and reluctantly walked back into the room to take it off.

As we were buying the dress my mother and I picked out some jewelry to match the dress. We then headed to a shoe store to buy some low heels black shoes.

INU:

Okay… 6:00… it's go time.

I punched in the number and waited, feeling my heart in my throat all the while.

"Hello?" answered a young boy's voice.

"Hi, is Kagome there?"

"Um, I think she's still at the mall with- hold on. She might be home-"

SMACK! I winced as I heard a loud noise on the other end and shouting.

"OW-W-W-W KAGOME-E-E!!!"

"Souta! Give me the phone!"

"Hey!"

I heard a thump and more crying then a door closed. There was silence until," Hello?"

"Uh…"

"Sorry Kenji! My brother is such a pain…"

"No problem…"

"So, what's up?"

"Nothing. How about you?"

"I'm good."

"Great, so are we on for Saturday?"

"Yeah!"

"Okay then, what color is your dress?"

"Green."

"All right, now I'll give Inuyasha the money for our tickets okay? I'll tell him to give the money to you so you can buy them."

"Sounds good!"

"Great. Wanna go to the football game with me?"

"Yeah! That'd be fun."

"I'll pick you up at 5:00 then."

"Sure."

"That's it then…"

"Yeah… bye!"

"Bye."

I put the phone down, plopped down on my bed and took in a deep breath.

Wow…
