[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Hi! Gohanzgirl here lol!
I didn't want to ruin the feel of the first chapter with an authors note or anything so I left it
out, This is my newest fic and I have to say I'm very proud and infatuated with it at the
moment! I just cant stop writing it. Its also my very first Inu AU, I love reviews with a passion
and I have to admit recently I've really enjoyed writing them too!!

Disclaimer: I do not own Inu yasha or any of It's characters! If I did I wouldn't pout so bad
every time I hear of someone else getting an Inu yasha plushie.

Ancient things

chapter 3

It was Friday, and the best part of it being Friday was the fact that it was already half over.
The last bell of school had rung nearly fifteen minutes before and Kagome couldn't have been
happier walking home from school. She opened the door to her house stepped in side slipping her
shoes off in the process. "I'm home!" She called and peeked into the kitchen and frowned when
no one turned up. 'Where is every one?' Kagome shrugged and opened the fridge and frowned once
again. She grabbed the ice tea and shut the fridge and opened the cupboard a small grimace on her
face as she eyed the beef ramen. Ruffling through the cupboard for a few minutes she found what
she was looking for. Chicken "chicken, chicken, chicken, chicken not as good as Oden but it will
do!" She was being odd even for herself, but hunger did that to her.

Shoving her Ramen in the refrigerator and popping the container into the microwave she waited
for it to ding and made herself busy and poured herself some Ice tea and sat it on the table.
the microwave dinged and she mindlessly shuffled the food in her mouth and drank her tea. Idly
wondering where her family was. The door in the living room slid opened and she heard some one
entering the house before she heard her little brothers voice.

"I hate shopping!" Whining was one of his strong points, that along with bugging his sister. Yet
Sota looked up to her and loved her with all of his heart. They had a good relationship for being
nearly seven years apart in age. Always had been very good together, never fought for very long
and Sota new that If he had a problem that couldn't go to his mother he always, always had
Kagomes ear.

He trudged into the kitchen carrying two paper bags in his arms. And then as noisily as he came
it made even more noise when he tripped on one of the sitting pillows at the table. Kagome
barely had time to wrap her arms around both the ten year old and the bags keeping them both
up right. "Gotcha squirt!" She pushed her brother back into a standing position and retrieved
both bags from him setting them on the counter.

"Thanks Kagome!" She smiled and took in her brothers disheveled appearance. First he wasn't
wearing his school uniform, and the cloths he was wearing were old ripped jeans, and a rather
ratty looking Tasmanian devil t-shirt. His hair was even messy. It was getting long, and she was
surprised her mom hadn't noticed.

"What happened to you?"

"Were going back to the dig in Maebashi, tonight!" He sounded excited and Kagome stopped putting
the cereal away and turned to him surprise marring her expression.

"What I thought we were going to Urawa tomorrow morning!"

"Yeah Mom got a call today! They found something in Maebashi! And they want her up there to
help and because grandpa is in Urawa already cause you know he left yesterday." He took a
breath "So she is just going to take us with her to Maebashi."

"Sota! Kagome! Help me with these!" Came from the door way.

"Coming!" They both yelled and walked out to help there mother. She smiled at them setting a
bag down and turning to her children and winking at Kagome.

"Hey Sweetheart, I got you something! But first I want you to pack the lunch meat and condiments
into the large blue cooler for me." She waved off her oldest and turned to her youngest. "You get
the certified road trip bag and fill it with snacks and things to do this one's gonna be a long
drive." Sota grinned and went to find the road trip bag witch was a cream colored bag that had
a million pins, sewn in patches, and key chains on it of places they've been and seen. They'd always
filled a random bag with stuff to quench two children and some adults needs on trips to digs or
such but it wasn't till there father died that they took his dig bag and made it into a tradition.

There father had all kinds of things already sewn on it, they just continued that and hooked his
key chain up to it and started carting it around with them on every trip.

A half an hour later Kagome was dressed in old jeans and a t-shirt she had another three outfits
packed, the cat had enough food and water for six days (even though they were going to be gone
for only two) He had a tendency to eat most of it the first day and starve the next so they
gave him extra and put him on a diet the rest of the week. Her school uniforms were safely in
her closet, she had her Walkman and a book and her homework was already in the car.

She grabbed her equipment bag, her archeology tools consisted of; a few stake wire flags with
her name scribbled in black to make sure she remembered where she was digging, a Soil sampler
kit with a good many of the grade samplers but she was missing B. 'probably lost it somewhere.'
she thought while she started down the stairs. Two different whisk brooms one larger, one small.
A roll out leather case that was her fathers that contained paint brushes of different sizes.

Four different sized hand picks that were top of the line, with hickory handles that she got
for her birthday last year. About thirty chaining pins, they were kind of like a surveyors
arrows though they were a little rough for the wear she had thirty five but she knew she lost
a couple. A small folding shovel and some different length files. About five different colors
of marking tape and a couple odds and ends that she couldn't think of. All of it parts of the
life of a becoming Archaeologist.

"Mom I'm ready!" She smiled and hopped the last stair her bag hitting into her shoulder. She
paused. "What were you going to give me?"

Her mom smiled and pulled out a yellow strapped hiking bag, died leather, tough material. Kagomes
eyes widened. "Oh wow mom this must of been a fortune." She reached out and felt the outside.
soft but durable. "I love it."

"I knew you would." She grinned.

"I want one!" Sota touched the bag.

Kagome snorted and lifted the bag to put on her shoulder. "You'd fall over squirt." her mom
smiled.

"Give it about two years, I just got you that jean one, its durable enough for now." Turned
sparkling eyes on Kagome, "I wanted to get you that for your birthday but just didn't have the
money."

"Its OK mom, I like it better this way. I got a present for no reason!" Her mom laughed and
Sota pouted.

"You got your gift Sota. Or do you want me to get the scissors out!" Sota's eyes widened and he
covered his Locke's.

"So thats why its so long, he Finlay talked you into letting him grow it out?" Kagome asked
while setting the bag on the counter and pulling her other forward to switch them.

Her mother sighed and blew her own cropped hair out of her eyes. "Yes he did, dint change that
wait till were in the Jeep. We have to get going if we want to get there before dusk."

Kagome nodded, flinging both bags on her shoulder, she grabbed her CD player, eyed her brothers
game boy as he flew out of the house. Cringed and grabbed that too fallowing her mom out.

"Road trip!"

"Every weekend road trip!" Her brother piked as they all got in. Haruma started to pull out when
he squealed for her to stop. She did and he flew out, calling over his shoulder "I almost forgot,
I have to pee!"

Kagome groaned and leaned back in the front seat and looked at her mother. "At least he
remembered before we got around the block this time." they both shook there heads and waited
for him to get back.

A/N
OK A little bit of writers block there, can you tell... I really didn't want to write this chap.
cause well next chapter is going to be fun!!! But I had to get this one done and out so I could
get to the next chapter. And I did look up the digging tools! lol I haven't taken the class yet
in college so I'm hanging on a thread here. I'm looking up stuff as fast as I think of them lol.
Urawa and Maebashi are real places in Japan but I'm not entirely sure whats in them. They could
be heavily populated *shrugs* I used them for the distance from Tokyo. I hope who ever's read
this likes it cause I'm still enjoying where the story's going.

Another couple days and the next chap should be up! Ive never been this enthused to write
a continuous fanfic before! pray that I keep my enthusiasm. I am.
