A whirlwind suddenly appeared in front of Ayame as she was gazing into the lake at her feet.

"Did you find anything Koga?" Ayame asked without even looking.

"No not yet. There's no sign of Naraku anywhere." Koga, the leader of the wolf demon tribe, announced.

"Well it's okay. We'll find eventually. Right now we need to worry about food though." Ayame said as her stomache began to growl.

"Heh alright I'll go grab us some food okay."

"Wait, let me come with you." Ayame interjected.

*Why do you always want to leave just as soon as you return to me Koga.*

"Nah it might get dangerous out there." Koga said trying to get out of spending time with Ayame. *Why do I feel this way about her. Kagome is my girl. I shouldn't be having these feelings for Ayame. The longer I stay away from her the better.*

"Koga! I'm a wolf DEMON! I don't need protection. I'm not like that human girl Kagome!" Ayame announced obviously seeing through Koga's ploy. Koga was about to snap back at Ayame for daring to insult Kagome when he was cut short.

"Koga, there's some weird black cloud thingy of the cave west of here." Hakkaku interupted as he, Ginta, and the wolf demon's came running along panting from trying to keep up with Koga.

"A black cloud. Does it have a demonic aura to it?" Koga asked glad for the interuption.

"Yeah, a very strong one at that. Do you think it's Naraku?" Ginta asked timidly.

"Sounds like it. Let's go check it out." Koga said as he started to leave. He hesitated for some reason and looked at Ayame.

"Well, are you coming or not?" Koga demanded.

"You bet!" Ayame excitedly announced as she cheerfully sprung up from her crouching position with a huge smile on her face. "Let's go!"

"All right, but be careful." Koga warned, and suddenly he was gone. Vanashing with in his whirlwind and started running ahead of anyone.

*That stench is definetly Naraku. Heh, the mutt's going to bad when he finds out I'll be the one to finish him off.* Koga thought as he recklessly charged into the cave. Ayame was right behind him when suddenly the mouth of the cave closed up! Ayame barely made it through but Ginta and Hakkaku were left outside.

"Figures he would set a trap for us." Ayame said in a hushed tone.

"No need to be quiet. He already knows we're here." Koga said pointing to the kneeling figure covered by a baboon cloak and mask.

"Welcome, I see you've grown stronger since the last time I beat you." Naraku said with a laugh.

"Cut the crap Naraku. I'm going to kill you here and now!" Koga yelled as he charged at Naraku.

"Fool...never charge head first at an opponent who knows your weakness." Naraku said. As he dodged Koga's first attack and grabbed hold of one of Koga's legs. Naraku then flung Koga into the far wall causing it to crack slightly.

"Heh, I have a weakness that a first. Why don't you enlighten me of this weakness while I'm pouning your head into the ground!" Koga yelled as he richocheted off the wall aiming a punch at Naraku's head. The sacred jewel in his arm glowed with power as he got closer to Naraku.

"Heh, fine. Let me show it to you!" Naraku sneered when suddenly a demon came up from the ground. Koga stopped in mid attack as he recognized the demon as one of his wolf pack.

"Kikaku.."Koga said stunned.

"Heh, fool. Never hesistate when your about to attack!" Naraku said as he sent Koga flying again. This time by some how taking his demonic energy and forming it into an energy blast.

"Koga!" Ayame yelled finally finding her voice after seeing Naraku. Ayame launcher herself at Naraku. She launched numerous exploding leaves at him, but before they could reach him more wolf demons came from the earth. The exploding leaves him them and ripped deep holes in their chest. The demon's crumbled to the ground, but even before Ayame had fully reached Naraku they were already back on their feet and lunging at Ayame. Ayame jumped backwards to avoid the attacks then launched an all out assault on them. She ripped and clawed her way through the demon's only to find that when she broke her way through them they had already healed and were coming back after her!

"Watch out!" Koga yelled as he jumped above her and came crashing down on two demon's who were about to grab her.

"This isn't good. It's like their zombies or something. No matter what I do to them they keep coming back!" Ayame whimpered.

" I don't know how the hell he's doing it. But Naraku's behind this somehow. So all we have to do is finish him and we're home free!" Koga declared as he tried to pick out Naraku from the increasing number of demons.

"Shit I can't see him can you Ayame?" Koga asked as he caved in a demon's skull with his foot.

"No. All I see are these demons surrounding me." Ayame answered truthfully as she destroyed four that were coming to her side by slashing one's throat, gouging another's heart out and launching explosive leaves on the other two.

"The coward's making a run for it!" Koga exclaimed as he saw the mouth of the cave closing again and Naraku making a hasty exit.

"What are we going to do?"

"Simple we're going to follow him."

"But how the mouth of the cave is sealed off, and there's an ocean of demon's in front of us. In case you hadn't noticed!"

"No problem. We'll make our own way out!" With that statement Koga ran to the narrowest part of the cave at full speed. He jumped up and richocheted off the side wall. With the increase of speed, gravitational force behind him, and his own power combined the wall crumbled easily enough.

"Quickly Ayame get out of here!" Koga instructed. "I'll keep them back while you get out."

"Gotcha." Ayame said as she backed up and headed towards the opening in the cave. Koga came out behind her still kicking and punching at the demon's behind him. When they exited the cave Ginta and Hakkaku were waiting.

"Koga! We saw Naraku exit the cave and turn into a dark purple cloud. He said that if you wanted to continue this little match and free the souls of your pack, then follow him to the Valley of Death!" Ginta said with a shudder.

"The Valley of Death?" Ayame quizzically asked as she cocked her head and looked into Koga's dark eyes and brooding expression.

"The Valley of Death is a place forbidden to demon's and humans alike. The only creatures that dwell there are powerful socereres called Necromancers, who specialize in capture the souls of the dead and bringing them back to life to do their bidding." Koga said solemnly. "Judging by the fact that the demon's in there didn't follow us I'm betting that's what has become of my pack!"

With that Koga punched the ground in fury.

"Naraku if it's the last thing I do I will kill you. I will avenge my fallen comrades. They have been pawns in your sick games for far too long." Koga said as he stood up. "Let's go find Naraku."
