Author's note* Really sorry about the last chapter sucking really bad. I was in a hurry and had to end it quickly. If I get the chance I'll go back and rewrite it. I'll let you know if I do. Sorry about that once again. : )*
Azrael kept looking over his shoulder as the darkness descended upon the group. He had been unusually nervous ever since they entered this valley and was growing more concerned by the second.
"I really do believe that we should pick up the pace. This is not a good place to be caught at night." Azrael declared.
"Why not? It's just a stupid valley." Bankotsu retorted as he walked along in his usual rude demeanor.
"Because, in case you didn't know, this is referred to as the Valley of the Bat. This used to be the realm of the Lord of the Bat Demons. Also, some of his followers might still be here." Azrael replied calmly.
"The lord of the bat demons?" Kagome asked quizzically.
"Hmm I didn't know any mortal still knew about him." Sesshomaru said as he stared at Azrael.
"Who's that Lord Sesshomaru?" Rin asked as she grabbed his arm.
"The lord of the bat demon's was a very powerful demon that was feared all across Japan during the reign of our father." Sesshomaru replied nodding in Inuyasha's direction at the mention of thier father. " He was ruthless and cold hearted, he loved the smell of human blood. He would destory whole villages just for fun and amusement. Our father, attempted to defeat this demon, but was unsuccessful due to the fact that before he struck the final blow the demon simply disappeared. To this day he hasn't been seen since. It's widely believe that our father defeated him."
"Hmm, I had heard that the lord of the bat demon's fought your father to a stand still, and that was when the he left." Azrael said with a smirk.
"How would you know? You weren't even born yet. I'm sure what I've said is far more accurate then silly stories passed down from human to human." Sesshomaru declared angrily.
"I was telling you what I had heard." Azrael said defensively as he raised his hands in defense.
"Eh, it doesn't matter. That demon's long gone, we just have to worry about Naraku." Inuyasha said as he looked back at them.
"I agree with the mutt, why worry about old fossil's when Naraku's our main concern." Koga added as he flexed his hands as if he were strangling some one. "I can't wait til I get my hands on him."
"Azreal, that reminds me. Ayame told me you drained the poison from Koga. How were you able to do that?" Kagome asked.
"Heh, actually I learned that ability from a powerful priestess. She taught me alot about poisons and spiritual energy. She said that if you had enough spiritual energy you could use it to 'push' the poison out of one's body."
"Wow, I didn't know that could be done." Sango said.
"Yeah I would've figured Kikyo would've been able to do that." Kagome agreed.
"Humph, doubtfully, she wasn't really one for saving lives." Inuyasha complained, though he knew what he was saying wasn't true.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome said exasperated by his response, yet secretly glad about it.
"ANYway. We still need to be careful." Azrael said.
"Wait, Rin?" Sesshomaru said a look of worry crossed his face. Evidenlty while they were talking she had wandered off. "Damn it! I told her to stay here."
"Lord Sesshomaru, shall I go look for her?" Jaken asked.
"No need, I know exactly where she is, but we have to hurry. Follow me!" Azrael exclaimed as he ran quickly towards the looming darkness. Everyone gave worried glances at eachother but quickly followed him.
"Inuyasha, your sword can break through barriers right." Azrael said without looking back, it was more of a statement then a question.
"Yeah, why?" Inuyasha said as he raced up next to Azrael who suddenly stopped.
"Aim your sword there." Azrael said as he pointed to what looked like a normal mountain.
"Why?" Inuyasha asked dumbfounded why Azrael would want him to destroy a mountain.
"Use the red sword that can break barriers and aim it there!" Azrael yelled his voice showing his worry.
Inuyasha nodded quietly as Tetsuiaga turned red. Inuyasha faced the mountain and used his wind scar. About a foot from the mountain a light shimmered around it and the mountain vanished.
"Hmm, an illusion shield." Sesshomaru said as he followed Azrael into what seemed to be a very large and intricate cave system. Several statues, and crest's rested along the cave's walls. The skeleton's of both demon and human alike were shown like trophies through out the many passages. Azrael ran through the cave taking twists and turns quickly with out thought.
"Well, this explains why father never found the lord of the bat demons." Sesshomaru said as he ran next to Inuyasha.
"You mean this is his hideout?"
"Yes father searched in vain but was unable to locate his hideout behind the barrier. It's no surprise, the only way you could've known about this barrier was if you worked for the demon lord. After this we need to question your friend about that." Sesshomaru said as he looked at Azrael. *How can you know so much about these bat demons. Even the location of their cave and the way through this maze. Could you possibly be...*
Sesshomaru's thoughts were cut short as Azrael stopped before a solid brick wall.
"Did we take a wrong turn?" Kagome asked.
"Yeah you really aren't planning on barging through that are ya?" Bankotsu joked.
"Actually yes." Azrael said as he looked back at him. Azrael raised up his black sleeve on his right arm and raised his sword to it.
"What are you doing?" Miroku asked uncertainly.
"To open this door it requires a blood sacrifice. It helps to keep intruders out." Azrael said as he quickly slashed his arm with his sword. Blood poured down his arm onto his right hand. He placed his hand on the wall and drew a symbol on it. Suddenly the blood began to glow and the wall opened in half.
"That's the symbol of the lord of the bat demons." Sesshomaru said in shock as he looked at Azrael. He hadn't noticed before but the same symbol was on Azrael's breast plate.
"Come on, we need to hurry. The moon is almost at it's peak and their about to perform the sacrifice." Azrael said as he turned around to face them.
"Not until you tell us who you really are." Sesshomaru said as he glared at Azrael with eyes that seemed to gaze into his very soul.
"There's time for that later right now we have bigger problems. Bat demon's have captured Rin, and in a few moment's their going to drain all her blood as a sacrifice to their Lord." Azrael said gravely.
