Inuyasha and Sesshomaru stood in disbelief as Inutaisho stood before them.
"It can't be..." Inuyasha stated blankly as he looked into his father's eyes.
"Watch out!" Sesshomaru yelled as he shoved Inuyasha out of the way. The area Inuyasha had been standing in was instantly vaporized by some unseen force.
"What the hell was that!" Inuyasha yelled. His father never moved so how did he do that much damage.
"That was but a mere sample of our father's power." Sesshomaru declared as thoughts raced into his mind.
* I'm much stronger than I was back then, but even now I know in my heart that I would never be able to defeat my father. His power truly was un paralleled. Which brings a question, how is someone like Naraku able to conrol him?* Sesshomaru thought. He was so deep in thought that it was now Inuyasha's turn to save him.
"Quit day dreaming and start dodging!" Inuyasha yelled as jumped in front of Sesshomaru. Inuyasha used Tetsiaga as a shield to deflect his father from attacking Sesshomaru. Inutaisho's claws made full contact with Tetsaiga and the resulting clash sent Inuyasha flying into the canyon wall. Sesshomaru nimbly dodged a few of his father's attacks but was finally sent reeling after Inutaisho caught him with a swift kick to the chest.
"Something's not right Inuyasha. Father would never have fought like this. He's fighting like a wild animal." Sesshomaru said as he got up and wiped the blood off his cheek.
"I sort of figured that out, now could you come help me!" Inuyasha yelled as he was sent hurling by another one of Inutaisho's attacks. Before Sesshomaru could even close in half the distance he was pummled by another invisible energy attack.
*I see, I remember father once telling me of a special type of energy manipulation he had once mastered. I never thought he'd one day be using it against me.* Sesshomaru thought weakly as he got up from the attack. Inuyasha wasn't fairing well against the huge onslaught his father was unleashing upon him. With a powerful stroke Inutaisho sent Tetsaiga flying from Inuyasha's hands. Inuyasha was defenseless as Inutaisho prepared to strike the final blow.
"Father stop, he's your son!" Sesshomaru commanded.
*Please father if your in there, anywhere, hear my voice.* Sesshomaru pleaded inwardly.
"Dad, don't be so weak to be controlled by Naraku." Inuyasha said as he closed his eyes. A slight tear fell down his face as Inutaisho continued with the blow. Inuyasha steeled himself for the attack but it never came. Inutaisho's claws stopped a mere inch from Inuyasha's throat. Inuyasha gazed up at his father's eyes and that's when it hit him.
"This isn't dad." Inuyasha said to Sesshomaru.
"Hmm, so you see it now too. True this is our father's body, but I noticed Naraku failed to release father's soul as well. Naraku knew if he put father's soul into his body that he would not be able to control him." Sesshomaru revealed.
"Right, so that means we shouldn't have any regrets about fighting him. After all this isn't dad it's just a puppet right?" Inuyasha said, his last statement was more of a question as he tried to subdue the rising doubt in his heart about fighting the father he once longed to have.
"I'm not sure, evidently there's some remenant of our father's soul in that corpse. Otherwise he would've struck you down by now." Sesshomaru said as he readied Tokijin. "When I move in, grab Tetsaiga and attack on my word."
"Gotcha." Inuyasha said never once taking his eyes off of Inutaisho. Sesshomaru moved towards Inutaisho's back, when all of a sudden another huge amount of energy came crashing down towards Sesshomaru.
"You don't really think the same trick will work twice do you?" Sesshomaru mocked as he easily dodged the blast and ran straight towards Inutaisho. "That attack is very powerful, but it's also very slow. It only works if it catches your opponent off guard."
With that Sesshomaru sent a shockwave at Inutaisho which hit him full force. Inuyasha took that split second of freedom to run grab Tetsaiga.
"Now!" Sesshomaru instructed as he and Inuyasha combined their attacks on the stunned Inutaisho. The canyon wall quaked at the force of the attack, and just when victory seemed assured Inutaisho gained the upper hand. As the dust settled Inutaisho was revealed to be holding each of his sons up in the air by their throats. Tokijin and Tetsaiga laid on the ground next to them as the brother's desperatly tried to break their father's grip on them.
Inuyasha was starting to black out as he shook his head in a last ditch effort to maintain consciousness. Sesshomaru looked like he was trying to reach for something but seemed like he wasn't able to find it. It was then that Inuyasha noticed the blood covering Sesshomaru's right shoulder.
"Heh, don't tell me his puny attacks got to you." Inuyasha said knowing instantly that Sesshomaru got that injury when he shoved Inuyasha out of the way of their father's attack.
"Shut up you imbecile." Sesshomaru glared at Inuyasha. It was in that instant that the brothers knew what they had to do. With the last bit of strength Inuyasha had in him he reached out in front of Sesshomaru, just as Sesshomaru flicked Tetseiga out of its sheath with his left hand. Inuyasha ignored the barrier around Tetseiga as he slashed Inutaisho across the chest with the sword. Instantly, Inutaisho dropped the hanyou brothers and started staggering backwards as a blue aura surrounded him. Inuyasha tossed Tetseiga to Sesshomaru who also picked up Tokijin, and Inuyasha picked back up Tetsaiga. The both turned to face Inutaisho who had a more regal appearance about him now.
"So this really you this time?" Inuyasha questioned still not taking his eyes off of Inutaisho.
"For the moment. I don't know how long I can maintain control of this body. I'm glad to see my two sons are finally truly brothers." Inutaisho said smiling a little as he looked at his two sons.
"Father, will you be able to help us fight Naraku?" Sesshomaru asked getting straight to the point. Trying to hide the fact that he was greatly relieved to see his father once more.
"No, I won't be able to maintain control of this body for much longer. But, when I'm gone, combine the power of the two fangs to unleash a power never before dreamed of. This power can only be used however, if the two weilders of the fangs have someone they must protect and...if they truly have love for the other. Good bye, my sons." Inutaisho said as the blue aura ceased and his demeanor once agained resembled that of a wild beast.
"Heh, you heard the man, let's see what he's been holding out on us." Inuyasha said as he looked at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru nodded as they both started to glow with a blue aura. "And just for the record...I don't love you." Inuyasha smirked.
"The feelings mutual." Sesshomaru replied as he felt a great energy rise within him. As if by instict each brother raised their swords into the air. Tetsaiga and Tetseiga pulsed with power.
"Now time to finish you." Sesshomaru said.
"Twin Sword of the Honorable Ruler unleash your true power!" the hanyou brothers said in unison. "Now Omnislash!"
With that the two brothers unleash a powerful vortex of energy that released itself in the form of a great dog demon. The attack hit Inutaisho, enveloping him in a bright light. As the light settled and the brother's returned to normal they noticed there was nothing left of Inutaisho, also they had completly demolished half of the canyon.
"Heh, I think it's time we go pay Naraku a little visit, shall we." Inuyasha said as he heard the sounds of the battle taking place on the cliff above them.
