Just before the attack hit Naraku and Azrael, Naraku managed to take control of Azrael.
"It's not over yet!" Naraku yelled as he combined his power and Azrael's power to create a shield at the last second. The shield was shattered by the Omnislash and Kagome's arrow, but it did what it was intended to and that was save them both. Kagome's arrow however punctured Naraku's chest, the arrow hit the Shikon No Tama and do to the fact that Naraku had flattened the arrow head instead of shattering it the arrow pushed the Shikon No Tama out of Naraku's ches. The arrow also ripped through Azrael's chest as well. Azrael collapsed to the ground, his power drained and his body mangaled. Naraku stood briefly as he began to transform to his previous form, blood pouring from his body.
"Curse you, you wrench!" Naraku yelled. "This will not be the end of me!" Suddenly Naraku began to release demons from inside of him, sending them to attack Kagome, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha.
"Kagome you get the sacred jewel we'll take care of these pesky demons!" Inuyasha ordered as he sliced at one with his claws. Sesshomaru only nodded as he used his energy whip to decapitate another.
"Right." Kagome answered as she quickly ran around the demons and Naraku trying to get the sacred jewel.
She saw the sacred jewel emitting energy from the side of the canyon wall. She ran faster towards it but was stopped in her tracks by a familiar sight.
"Kagura!" Kagome exclaimed as the wind demon blocked her path.
"So you thought you could just take the jewel all for yourself did you?" Kagura asked as she looked at the weakened Naraku. Naraku already started healing himself by this time and was already standing and starting to make his way back over to the Shikon No Tama.
"Kagura...please don't do this." Kagome pleaded knowing that she could not take her on without any arrows. Kagura looked at Kagome then back to Naraku she smiled faintly as she turned her back to Kagome.
"You owe me one. Listen, when we defeat him I get to go free okay, without any fights. Got it!" Kagura called back to Kagome.
"You have my word." Kagome replied quickly as she ran toward the jewel.
"So you finally got up the courage to betray me? That is the last mistake you'll ever make." Naraku sneered as he raised his hand to attack.
"You've lost Naraku admit it! Even I'm strong enough to defeat you now." Kagura exclaimed. "Blades of Wind!"
The blades struck Naraku slicing his body to shreds, but Naraku still continued not seeming to notice. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were now behind him and ready to strike, just waiting for their chance.
"Now, I will rid the world of all who threaten me." Naraku declared. Suddenly a blade shot out of his hand stabbing Kagura in the chest and pinning her to the canyon wall. Naraku then released miasma out from his body as Inuyasha and Sesshomaru lept in to attack him. They both were momentarily stunned by this which was all the time Naraku needed to make his move. He knocked both their weapons out of their hands as he grabbed them by the throats and lifted them into the air. His talons dug into their throats as blood trickled down his hands. "I will kill you both as if you were nothing more than mere insects!"
"Heh, sorry to spoil your victory, but we were just the distraction." Inuyasha quipped. Even Sesshomaru was smiling slightly. "We're not the one's who's going to kill you...she is."
Naraku looked around to see Kagome holding the Shikon No Tama. Her whole body glowed with a blue aura as energy shone through her eyes. "This ends here Naraku!" Kagome yelled as tears trickled down her cheeks. Suddenly a huge light erupted from Kagome as a powerful energy swept over the entire area. Inuyasha starred at Kagome even through the blinding light as he noticed something was wrong. Naraku was slowly being dissolved by the miko's power, but Kagome looked like she herself was also becoming weaker.
"Kagome! Kagome!" Inuyasha cried as he struggled from Naraku's grip. Suddenly Naraku's arm broke off and Inuyasha ran to Kagome, he was stopped however by a powerful barrier. "Kagome stop this, you can't!"
"Inuyasha, I love you...I'm sorry but I must do this!" Kagome said as she smiled at him. "I'm sorry that you will now be alone...I didn't want to do this to you."
"Then don't! You don't have to stop this now!" Inuyasha pleaded as he himself began to feel warm tears sting his cheeks. "I love you Kagome!"
Kagome only smiled as their was a second flash of light bigger and brighter than the last one. After the light dimmed down Inuyasha was holding Kagome's lifeless body in his arms as he silently sobbed. His grief was so strong that he didn't notice why Kagome had sacrificed herself.
"Inuyasha." Sango said as she quietly walked over to him. Her, Koga, Ayame, Shippo, Miroku, Kohaku, she had also healed Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, Azrael, and Kikyo.
"She's dead...and it's all my fault!" Inuyasha sobbed as everyone surrounded him. Even Kikyo was upset over Kagome's death. The Shikon No Tama was still in her hand as Inuyasha's tears fell on her dead body.
