InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Angel in Disguise ❯ Water Fountain Mystery ( Chapter 4 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Instead of the tips of the maze greenery and the blue sky with fluffy bits of clouds, it showed instead a large fall of water, more than what this fountain spilled forth, and rocks with flowering vines wrapped amongst the wet stone, as well as strange trees that this school had never grown before. I don't know how to explain it, but I couldn't seem to really react but stare. Then my eyes drifted down to my own reflection that was there. I then noticed something different that brought a chocked cry from my tight throat. Shimmering behind me where the ghostly images of wings, and not just any kind of wings, but the very wings that were branded into my skin! The glowed and wavered behind me as if with a life of their own. Some would probably turn and run screaming for their life, or pass out from seeing what I had just seen. I just stared at the image, feeling a tremor begin to hit me. Then something happened that made me jerk back. The image of myself smiled at me, and brought her hand up and waved at me, and gave a "come forward" gesture, still smiling. I shivered, before taking a deep breath and looking back into the image. She/I was still there, smiling, even silently laughing, transparent wings shaking with the movement of her/my shoulders with the laugh. She/I gave another smile and beckoned again. Entranced and terrified at the same time, I leaned forward, my hair brushing across my shoulders to spill into the water just as she/I leaned forward, our hair blending together. As I got closer I noticed that the image of myself changed. The glittering image of wings in the water became more noticeable, more solid, and my images human ears seemed to vanish within the hair, as two slender white ears unfolded from atop my images head, almost a cross between a deer and a equine. It was strange, how I stared at my image, as I got even closer, my face almost touching the rippling water. The next thing I knew, the image of myself changed for just a second, and all I saw was a slender white animal face, before the water within the small fountain suddenly erupted and clutched at me as if alive. I gave a short scream as water flooded into my mouth, making me choke and struggle to not breathe in more water as it swirled around me and pulled me in. That was the last I remember as cool darkness enveloped me and I fell unconscious.
