Chapter 3:
(warning****** this chapter is dark)

The night air was bitter, for the heavy rain wouldn’t let up. It had been raining all day, and the night brought no comfort for Kagome. In fact it seemed that the rain mirrored her mood. It was as if the weather was mourning for her. She wasn’t successful in finding shelter for herself, and was waterlogged from the weather. ‘It’s better this way.’ She thought to herself as she finally gave up looking and jumped and placed her up on a high branch of a tree.

She left the farmer’s home just two days ago, and already she was attacked. At least the old man was safe. She knew that he would die, if the village found out about her. Just two nights ago she had a warm place to sleep, and good food to eat. Now she had nothing. She no longer had clothing on her back because of the attack Most of her wounds healed, but her constant fear was growing. She shuddered as she allowed tears to stream yet again thinking of what transpired the night before:
**
She was lying in a meadow enjoying the beauty of the evening. She knew winter was coming soon, so she was thinking of a place to take residence for the winter. This area seemed ideal because there was a trout stream nearby. She also knew that a couple of miles away, was a human village. ‘Maybe I could hire myself out like the village’s protector.’ She thought giggling. She took her head covering off allowing her ears and hair free to blow in the wind.

She even thought of building a hut in the meadow. Or maybe build a home by the fishing stream. Knowing it wasn’t the smartest of ideas, but a girl can dream. Why enjoying herself with her daydreams she failed to sense a presence that was approaching her.

“Well, well what do we have here? A sweet little bitch.” A voice came from above her. It was a Yokai. Kagome was unsure of what kind it was, she knew then she was in serious trouble, again. This male was large with four heavily muscled arms. His eyes were the darkest of red. He was green so she figured he was some sort of lizard yokai. But she stopped caring what type of yokai he was when she noticed that he had an erection.

Before Kagome could even react or even move. The male above pinned her to the ground. Two of his arms pinned her arms to the ground, while one hand had a firm grip on her neck. His free hand was violently ripping her clothing off.

“Please stop. Get off of me!” She cried trying to resist. He was stronger than she was by 10 fold. She couldn’t kick him off.

“Silence, bitch.” He said shutting her up by smacking her in the face with the hand that was finished removing her clothing. “Now be a good girl while I enjoy you. If you don’t I’ll have to do you, while your unconscious.” He purred at her while he was starting to remove his clothing.

Kagome was frantic. She knew she had to get away, but was losing this battle horribly. Every time she tried to move he tightened her neck and gave her a shake. She didn’t want to be raped and it seemed that she couldn’t avoid that. So she did what she could do. She screamed.

This time instead of a slap, she received a punch. And then she was blessed with darkness.
****
Instead of sleeping, she sat on the tree branch mulling over what happened. How could she have been so foolish? She was lucky that she was saved, but that wont happen every time. She cannot always depend on others. But reality was, she did. She always did. Her father was a powerful Yokai, and her mother was a priestess. When he died when she was a small child, she relied on her mother’s spiritual powers. When she died, she relied on her Aunt who too was a priestess. Kagome thought that her life would work out for her because they taught her to cover her aura. Her mother and Aunt taught her ways to cover hanyou traits too. To everyone else she was human.

They taught her to cook, and farm, and ways to prove her worth in village living. They even taught her the art of healing when they realized she had some spiritual powers. In all the things they taught her, they failed to teach her in one vital way. To defend herself.

*
After awhile the rain stopped. Like the rain she stopped crying. She didn’t feel anything. She didn’t feel cold, or wet or pain, right now she felt defeated. She didn’t know who saved her, or why for that matter, she just wished she could have been stronger. It was then, when she realized she had to be stronger. If not, she will die.
