The War Without The Miko
“Milord! Milord! Wake up!” rang a male voice through the forest range.
A groggy young lord awake from his resting place under the shade of an overhanging tree.
“Yes” he toned waking from his peaceful slumber.
“The preparations for the battle with the youkai have been completed that is except for one minor detail.” The scout hesitantly stated.
“Yes and what might that be?” The lord asked in a monotone.
“Well… You see milord the miko your father requested hasn't agreed to the arrangement.” He answered quickly.
“That is good then. We have no need for a miko who doesn't protect her own people.” He said matter-a-factly.
“But milord this battle will be lost without the miko she is needed for our success.” He defended.
“I will tell you what is needed. Our men must be properly outfitted and I must lead them to battle. Now prepare my horse, weapons and armor.” He commanded towering over the scout.
“A… As you wish milord.” He answered shakily running back to camp.”
“Miko's who do not fight are better off dead.” He said to himself walking in the direction of the retreating scout.

You! Hand me my sword!” the young lord quaked.
“Yes sir!” he answered handing him his blessed sword.
“Damn youkai.” He said gritting his teeth together as he mounted his horse watching the sky turn an ominous dark color. His long dark hair blew in his face as the wind picked up and the hordes of demons appeared.
“Men! We fight to day for the lives of our children, wives, brothers, and sisters. For all of humanity we fight!” he almost roared rallying his men as he and they charged into battle and certain death.

“I'm back you two.” rang a sweet voice through a field of flowers as the maiden a marked plot of land.
She gave a silent prayer before she laid flowers on the graves of the demon brothers.
“Sorry I didn't bring Rin this time Sesshoumaru, she didn't want to come. Sometimes I think she doesn't care anymore.” She said sadly straightening the Tensiaga over Sesshoumaru's grave and Tetsusaiga over Inuyasha's.
“A lot has happened in ten years. I don't even know where to start.” She said trying to lighten her mood but failing as she started to weep into the graves wishing they weren't dead.
“Why Sesshoumaru? Why Inuyasha?” she whispered.

Milord! Stop the demons leader will surely kill you!” yelled d his men as he drove through the demons ranks. His sword tainted with the deep red color of the demons blood.
“Do not falter men will shall win without the help of the miko!” he yelled back.
Before he knew it he was thrown from atop his horse onto the battlefield. The demons began to circle the brash lord before they so boldly attacked him. Before they could lay a claw on him he was on his feet and had begun killing them again. Thanks to his blessed sword he could easily dispose of the demons. He continued his mad dash to the leader killing those in his way. When he reached the demons leader halted and stood before the brutish looking ogre with bloodlust eyes. The demon reached out to grasp him only to receive a cut to his hand.
`Damn! The demons skin is too thick for the sword to pierce him!'
“Puny human your weapon cannot hurt me.” The demon roared as he grasped the lord by the waist and began to squeeze the life from him. The lord tried to cut his way out by slicing at the demons hand but to no avail. The breath began to leave his body before he tossed the sword into the eye of the demon. The demon instantly released him trying to pry the sword buried in his eye. The lord took his chances and reached for the sword at the demons side that seemed to pulsing violently. He reached for the sword and it controlled his hand as it cut the demons leader in half. The battlefield broke into an utter silence as they all turned to see the human lord standing over the corpse of the demons leader. When the lord turned around he wasn't the same. The sword still pulsing at his side but it wasn't glowing red anymore. The humans and demons alike fled as they saw their lord's face craving blood.

Kagome fell back from her place in front of the two graves as she saw a soul emerge from Sesshoumaru's grave and fly away.
“Sesshoumaru's soul! That must mean he's alive! Our someone's trying to resurrect him!” she declared as she followed it through the meadow.
`Please Sesshoumaru be safe.'

When she came to a halt she was atop a hill over a battle-ridden field covered in demon corpses and humans alike. In the middle of the war zone stood and figure with silver hair, blood spattered cloths and red eyes. In a hurry to see him again she stupidly ran down the hill tripping and rolling down the hill. As she regained her senses she looked around but the figure was gone. Disappointment flooded her being and tears clouded her eyes. She lost him again. Soon she began to cry and pulled her legs up against her chest and wept. Little did she know that demon she thought she saw was watching her. She felt the wind shift and she turned to where she sensed a demonic aura but saw nothing only the tree's branches swaying in the ever-changing winds. She stood up as if to run but instead walked to the tree. Before she knew it the demonic aura reappeared and she was confronted with its owner. She cried out and fell back onto her butt as she stared wide-eyed at the shadowed figure. Nothing was visible and she couldn't make out his face.
She stood up and stuck out her palms and said, “Stay back demon or I'll purify you.”
The demon emerged from its shadowed area to reveal his glowing red eyes and blood stained claws. Her hands slightly lowered as she recognized him. She couldn't believe it; here he was the man that loved her right in front of her. She came closer to him only to be stopped when he growled at her. Something was wrong he didn't remember her. He had his soul but didn't know who she was. She came an inch closer and he growled louder but was silenced then she place her hand on his cheek and whispered.
“My Sesshoumaru, where have you been?”
Before he could push her away her dainty arms circled his waist and she sobbed brokenly into his bloodstained haori. His eyes turned back to their amber depths and he reflexively held her close to him before he buried his head into the crook of her neck inhaling her unforgettable scent and passing out. When she noticed his weight slumped on her she smiled and carried him back to her home.
