Chapter Two: The Pawns are Set in Motion
The early beams of light played gently on the calm water of the pond as Kagome awoke to the new day. Stretching her legs, she felt InuYasha's arms tighten about her softly. Turning her head, she found two golden orbs looking into her walnut ones. She couldn't help the smile that grew on her face as he gazed at her. Such warmth and love emanated from his eyes of molten gold. Kagome now knew his true feelings, and the same applied to him. Closing her eyes and snuggling closer to the hanyou, she took in his sweet scent. The rich aroma of the forest surrounded her as his lips tenderly touched her forehead, then her nose and lips. Kagome easily surrendered to InuYasha's soft lips as they teased her senses. Opening her mouth, she played her tongue over his lips as his met her demand. The hot sensations already pooling in her stomach as the kiss deepened and InuYasha rolled her onto her back.
InuYasha pulled back slightly to take in Kagome's expression, the passion already re-igniting in her sensuous eyes. Easing back down, he kissed her again, this time more fiercely. The desire to feel her again taking hold of his senses, he moved his kisses to her neck, then ran one clawed finger along the edges of his hoari (spelling ?), exposing her supple flesh underneath. Kagome moaned softly underneath him as he trailed velvety lips over her collarbone. Oh, how he wanted her. Moving to Kagome's ear, he blew softly on it before whispering the words “I love you my sweet Kagome.”
Kagome's whole body shuddered at InuYasha's words as he began nipping gently on her ear, his fangs playing gently over her earlobe. Kagome's vision began to blur, as she was swept away by a wave of emotion.
InuYasha wanted nothing more than to feel all of her, but he knew not to push Kagome too far. The fact that she allowed him to love part of her body was the most precious gift he thought he would ever receive. Lowering himself over her, he lightly lay his head on her chest, savoring the feel of her supple breast against his cheek. Her rhythmic heartbeat played a lullaby to his ears as another sound caught his attention. Ears perked up at the sound as he heard the soft crunching of feet over fallen leaves. InuYasha sat quickly upright at the noise, covering Kagome's exposed flesh swiftly with one hand while his other instinctively reached for Tetsusaiga.
Kagome raised herself and looked in the direction of InuYasha's gaze as she saw Shippo bound from the woods. His sudden lack of movement upon seeing her and InuYasha concerned her.
“Oy, what is it with you guys today?” Shippo said as he raised his hand to his forehead.
Walking just behind Shippo was Miroku, who also stopped dead in his tracks as he saw the implicated scene between Kagome and InuYasha.
“You're all crazy.” Shippo said as he hopped over to sit by Kagome.
Miroku inhaled deeply at seeing the change between his two friends. `At least I wasn't the only one' he thought weakly.
“Keh, Miroku! You just gonna stand there lookin stupid all day?” InuYasha blurted.
Kagome turned slightly, whacking InuYasha playfully on the back. “InuYasha!”
“Nani? He's lookin' all strange and serious.”
“Uh, it's just been a unusual morning.” Miroku managed to say. “I also see that you two had and interesting morning”
Both Kagome and InuYasha began to turn red in embarrassment, Kagome pulling the fire rat cloak closer about her.
Shippo looked from Kagome, to Miroku, to InuYasha and sighed. “Oy, whatever that thing is, it's making all of you act really weird.”
“What thing?” Kagome asked the kitsune.
“Miroku found this strange disk thingy at the bottom of the bone eaters well.”
“What were you doing in the bone eaters well, monk?” Inuyasha inquired rudely.
“Well, he was saying some strange things about Sango down there…”Shippo happily chimed in.
In a flash, Miroku had his arm wrapped around the small fox demon and was covering his mouth, as Shippo struggled in his tight embrace.
“Just nonsense,” Miroku said as he knocked Shippo hard on the head. Kagome and InuYasha both looking at him strangely.
“It's not nonsense!” The kitsune shrieked as he broke free from Miroku's grip.
“Heh, heh…” The monk moaned before facing Shippo, hand raising to the rosary beads covering his Kazaana. A wicked grin played at his lips and sent the furry little fox cowering behind Kagome.
“Miroku-sama, what was this disk you found?”Kagome asked.
Straightening up, Miroku began his brief explanation.
“Hmm, a jewel that is more powerful than the Shikon no Tama?” Kagome muttered as she absently fingered her lip.
“Feh, what kind of thing can give off feelings of pure joy to anyone near it?” Grumbled InuYasha.
“But it's not just that, it also seems to be able to cause images of ones deepest desires.” Kagome spoke softly. “And why was it in the bone eaters well?”
“That's why Keade sent us to get you, she said you may be able to shed some light on the situation.” Miroku said quietly.
“Well then, we best be off.” InuYasha mumbled as he slowly rose to his feet, then extended his hand to help Kagome up.
“Hai. We need to figure this out quickly, since it already seems to be causing damage.” Kagome agreed. All three of them looked at Miroku.
“Hey, nani?” The monk said shifting uncomfortably in his robes.
“Nan demo nai.” They said in unison as they started walking toward the forest, leaving a very embarrassed Miroku by the water.
