Chapter six:

InuYasha sulked as he crouched on a tree branch. Damned wolf, thinking he can get near her. this thought making the already enraged hanyou dig his claws even deeper into the palms of his hands. She's mine If that mangy piece of crap ever lays a hand on… His mental temper tantrum was interrupted as he heard her angelic voice.

“InuYasha” Kagome called into the trees. A sudden glimpse of silver and then she was in the air and among the branches, a trembling InuYasha holding her close.

“Is the wolf gone?” The pout very obvious in his voice.

“Yes, Kouga left.” Kagome's soft words rolled from her lips. InuYasha'a gaze kept falling to them no matter how hard he tried not to. Kagome turned ever so slightly in his arms and caressed his cheek with her fingers, then leaned forward and gave a light kiss on his lips. “I love you, InuYasha. Nothing will ever change that, not even Kouga.”

“I know, Kagome.” The words, the barest of whispers, escaped him.

With that, Kagome snuggled closer to the half dog demon and he wrapped his protective arms tighter about her. Beneath the full moon the two slept soundly high among the trees.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

InuYasha'a eyes groggily began to open. He never slept so soundly as when he held Kagome close. She was his peace.

As his vision cleared he saw a ginning pink orb hanging just beyond his reach. Baring his fangs, he spoke with a fuax menace. “Runt, you want to wake Kagome up?”

“Just making sure you're not doing anything you shouldn't.” Shippo replied.

InuYasha started to lunge for the hanging ball, when Kagome stirred in his arms. Tilting her head, she looked into golden eyes, and then noticed Shippo. “Good morning Shippo. Is this our wake-up call?”

InuYasha was unfamiliar with the term, but Shippo replied, “Miroku and Sango are all ready to head out. They sent me to wake you.”

“More like the letch wanted to know what happened.” InuYasha grumbled.

“InuYasha,” Kagome batted him playfully, “We do need to get moving again.”
Looking at Shippo, “Thank you for waking us. Let Sango and Miroku know we'll be right there.”

The orb grinned, “Okay Kagome.” Then Shippo vanished and was seen below running towards the camp in his true form.

Turning back to InuYasha, Kagome brought her fingers to his lips and ever so softly traced them. When she heard his soft growl, she leaned upward and pressed her lips to his. The sensation of his lips on hers wound up inside of her, igniting passions she had long held dormant. She had grown to crave his touch over the years, but he had seemed so unsure. So she let him work through his own feelings, and when he finally showed them to her the other day, she felt that all her wishes had come true. Feeling the heat of their kiss deepen, Kagome let herself fall into the inferno that was InuYasha.

InuYasha brought his arms tighter about Kagome as her lips touched his, the flame of his desire for her turning into a raging fire of need. He wanted her so badly, but he would never soil her purity. He couldn't do such a thing. She would never forgive him for his dirty thoughts, or the things he wanted to do to her/ with her. The kiss deepened, but he knew he could not have her. She was far too good for him.

“I told Shippo that you two would need some watching over.” Miroku called from below, the grin plastered to his face.

Both Kagome and InuYasha started at the sound of the monks voice and abruptly pulled from each other, the embarrassment coloring their faces.

“You damn letch, what the fuck do you think you're doing?” InuYasha howled at him.

“Just keeping Kagome-samas purity safe.” Smirked the monk.

“Why you….” Inuyasha started.

Placing her hand on his chest, Kagome spoke quietly, “We do need to go InuYasha, we have a lot of ground to cover today.”

The hanyou looked into her eyes, dark lashes framing the passion still in them. With a grumble of frustration, he held to her and jumped from the tree, knowing that she was right. Setting Kagome back on the ground, they headed back toward the camp, with a grinning monk walking just behind them.
