The Auryn: Unwanted Encounters

The suns first rays crested the distant hills and shed filtered beams of light through the solitary hut. InuYasha lay on the roof, gaze watching the multi-colored hues filling the sky. <I> Kagome….what does that damn gem have to do with you?</I> Frustration filled the hanyou. Grumbling to himself, InuYasha leapt to the ground and entered the hut to find the group finishing their preparations. Kagome sat in the corner, putting the remnants of their breakfast into one of her `plaaastik' contraptions.

 

<br><br>“Oi, wench…you ready to go yet?”

 

<br><br>“Yep.” Kagome chimed as she put the container in the enormous backpack, and latched the cover flap.

 

<br><br>“We're all ready InuYasha.” Miroku said.

 

<br><br>Tapping his feet on the wooden floor in irritation, “Well, let's get a move on then!” With that, crimson and silver fled the hut.

 

<br><br>The five left in the hut all looked at each other, then walked out to join the hanyou on the newly born day and begin a journey into the depths of darkness.

Kagome watched the dancing flames of the fire and tried to keep the grin from her face as Shippo and InuYasha started bickering over who would get the last of the burnt fish.

 

<br><br>”But I'm a growing kid, I need all the food I can get.” The kitsune screeched just before jumping at the food.

 

<br><br>”But I'm the one who's gotta fight all the monsters, you little twerp.” InuYasha growled as he smacked Shippo on the head.

 

<br><br>”Now, now, InuYasha, was that necessary? Couldn't you just share the last of the fish with Shippo, then you'd both be happy.” Miroku suggested.

 

<br><br>The hanyou bared his teeth at the monks unwelcome intrusion, then in a flash grabbed the last fish and devoured it just a Shippo had his paws on it.

 

<br><br>”Kagome!!!!!!” The kistune wailed. “The mutt ate my fish…”

 

<br> <br>“Who you calling a mu…” InuYasha began.

 

<br> <br>“Ya, runt, that's my job.”

 

<br><br> The whole group turned to see the lights of the fire dancing off a very proud Kouga. Eyes shining like the fire that lit them.

 

<br><br> “What the fucking hell do you think you're doing here!” The hanyou raged as he pulled tetsusaiga blazing from its scabbard.

 

<br><br> “Hmm….I thought I smelled a piece of crap nearby,” Kouga arrogantly replied as he strode past an enraged hanyou towards Kagome. “And how has this mutt been treating you MY Kagome.

 

<br><br> “She's just fine and she's not YOUR Ka…” InuYasha bit out.

 

<br><br> “It's okay InuYasha, I'm your woman now remember.” Kagome interupted.

 

<br> <br>At this remark Kouga sniffed his mate to find the wretched hanyou's scent all about her. “You've soiled my mate, you piece of shit. What the hell did you do to her, you've yet to claim her for your own. Why!”

 

<br><br>Turning as red as his hoari, InuYasha stumbled about trying to come up with a witty retort, but the words failed him, which made him only turn yet another shade of red. In frustration, he glowered briefly at the wolf youkai, and then stomped off into the woods.

 

<br><br>Kouga smirked at the retreating hanyou, then turned his attention back to the object of his desire. “How could you let that piece of shit touch you my precious Kagome?”

 

<br><br>Kagome looked Kouga square in the eyes, and simply replied, “because I love him.”

 

<br><br>With a slight look of dejection in his eyes, the leader of the wolf youkai took a step away from the woman of his heart, and faced away from the group watching him. “I shall respect your wishes my love, but I have yet to give up the battle for your heart.” With that, Kouga sped off in a cloud of dust.

 

<br><br>”That wolf'll never learn.” Shippo said.

 

<br><br>”One has to give him credit for his persistence though,” a grinning monk replied.

 

<br><br>”I think I should go get InuYasha,” Kagome spoke softly, her gaze already on the trees that the hanyou vanished into to.

 

<br><br>The trio looked at one another, then smiled as Kagome entered the woods to find InuYasha.
