Camp was already set up and the group was sitting in front of the fire. Inuyasha sat sulking in a tree still pissed off about Kouga kissing Kagome. He sat up there the whole time thinking of ways to kill the bastard.

"Inuyasha stop sulking and come down from that tree." Sango said. She was tired of seeing him pout.

"Keh." Inuyasha said and swung his leg over the branch but stayed in the tree.

"Why does that seem so familiar?" Miroku wondered.

"Inuyasha would you like to take a walk with me?" Kagome asked. He just ignored her and continued to sulk. "Fine, I'll walk by myself then."

Inuyasha jumped down from his tree and followed her without saying a word. He didn't want her walking around alone. It would be too dangerous. Besides who knew if Kouga was out there waiting for her or something.

"Oh she's good." Miroku said.

"What do you mean?" Shippo asked.

"Kagome got him to follow her without force." Miroku said.

"It's something you wouldn't understand Shippo." Sango said.

"Oh." Shippo said. He shrugged it off and laid down to sleep.

Kagome walked in front of Inuyasha aware that he was still sulking but didn't want her to walk around alone. She smiled knowing that her idea was going to work and that it would work in the future too. Once they got far enough away from the group she turned to face him.

"Is there something wrong?" She asked.

"Keh!" Inuyasha crossed his arms and turned around. "What do you care? You were busy talking to Kouga."

"Is that why you're mad?" Kagome asked. She walked up to Inuyasha but he just kept his back towards her. "Sit!"

"Oi! What did you do that for?" Inuyasha asked as he tried to fight the spell and sit up.

Kagome didn't say a word. She just walked over to him, turned him around and straddled his waist. "I want to know what's bothering you." She said.

Inuyasha was surprised at her actions. She'd never been so aggressive before. "I told you its nothing!" He yelled.

"It's something! Tell me or I'll keep you on the ground." Kagome threatened.

Inuyasha pushed her off of him and straddled her hips. He held her wrists above her head. "I'm pissed off because you kissed that mangy wolf!" Inuyasha finally admitted.

"I didn't kiss him! He kissed me. It's not like I invited him to do it!" Kagome yelled back trying to fight free of his hold on her. "I don't like him like that!"

Inuyasha felt somewhat relieved to hear that come from her. He still had some doubt. What if she didn't want to be marked by him? He set to find out. Lowering his head he pressed his lips against hers. He needed to make sure she was telling the truth and not saying it because he had her in his hold.

Kagome responding meant more than anything to Inuyasha at that moment. It meant that she wasn't just saying it. He would just kill Kouga later when Kagome wasn't around. He pulled back thinking that going any further at that time wouldn't be good for either of them.

As much as he wanted to fully claim her he would have to wait. Things were too hectic right now. He didn't even know if Kagome was ready for mating or if she wanted too or not. Just because she didn't reject him didn't mean she wanted to mate with him.

Trying to ignore all the doubts in his head at the moment he helped Kagome stand up. "It's getting late. We should go back to camp and rest." Inuyasha said.

Kagome nodded and let Inuyasha lead her back to camp. He grabbed her hand and made his way through the forest. He still had to figure out how to tell her about the mark. He would need all the thinking time he could get.

Kagome awoke to a voice calling her. Inuyasha had decided to sleep at the base of a tree with Kagome resting in his lap. The voice that was calling to her seemed familiar. She couldn't help but try to find it. Slowly and carefully she moved from Inuyasha's lap. Quietly she crept away from her friends and made her way into the forest.

As she walked deeper into the forest the louder the voice got. She finally made it to a clearing and the voice stopped. Looking around her she found nothing. Suddenly something jumped in front of her. She was about to scream but a hand clamped over her mouth.

She fought whatever it was that had a hold on her. Seeing her chance she bit the person's hand and jumped away when he screamed in pain. "What the hell did you do that for?"

Kagome turned around. "Inuyasha?"

"What the hell are you doing walking around in a forest at night?" Inuyasha yelled.

"Gomen, I heard someone calling me. I just had to find out who it was." Kagome said. She didn't know why it bothered her so much. It compelled her to find out and she couldn't explain why.

"Don't go wandering around the woods by yourself!" Inuyasha scolded.

"I didn't mean to wake you." Kagome bowed her head.

Inuyasha lifted her chin and looked into her eyes. "Just don't do it again. It's dangerous to walk around alone, especially in the dark. You can't get around without me knowing." He explained. He felt her get up and smelled as her scent faded.

"I can't?" Kagome asked.

Inuyasha grabbed her hand and started leading her back to camp again. "No, you can't." He said hoping he wouldn't have to explain.

"Why?" Kagome asked curious.

"I can't sleep without your scent around. I can't really do much of anything without smelling your scent." Inuyasha sighed. "Don't ask me why, I can't explain it."

Kagome was stunned. He couldn't do anything without her scent close. She didn't know that. She didn't really think it mattered much whether or not she was close to him. He seemed dependant on her now that she thought about it. She squeezed his hand and continued to follow him.

The next morning everyone woke up early to try and think of ways to figure out what was going to happen. No one understood why things weren't working out. What did they have to do? The voice said they would find out their pasts.

Not able to take it anymore Kagome stood. "I'm going down to the river to bathe. Sango would you like to join me?" She asked.

"I don't trust Houshi-sama. You go on ahead and I'll watch him and make sure he doesn't look." Sango said.

"I'm sure Inuyasha would make sure he doesn't look." Kagome looked to him.

"Are you sure he won't look to?" Sango asked narrowing her eyes at Inuyasha.

"Oi!" Inuyasha shouted in defense.

"I'm sure he won't look." Kagome smiled in reassurance.

"Let's go then." Sango said.

"Can I go to?" Shippo asked.

"Of course you can Shippo." Kagome said. She waited for Shippo to hop into her arms.

"Why can't I come then?" Miroku whined.

"Because hentai, Shippo is still young." Sango said. She turned around and headed for the river. Kagome followed after her with Shippo in her arms.

As soon as the three of them were out of hearing range Miroku turned to Inuyasha. "So have you told her yet?" he asked.

"Told her what?" Inuyasha said snapping out of his thoughts.

"About the mark." Miroku shook his head. "With that reaction I'm guessing you haven't."

"I haven't gotten the chance to bring it up. There's nothing I can do right now. There are too many things going on. She'll just worry herself over it." Inuyasha explained. "Besides how am I supposed to tell her she's stuck with me for the rest of her life?"

"First I think she'd hit you for using the word `stuck'." Miroku said. "I think your blowing this out of proportion. She likes you, that's obvious enough."

Inuyasha just sighed. Things weren't as Miroku made it sound. Without another word he jumped up into a tree branch signaling the conversation was over.

"So I guess that means you don't want to peek on the girls?" Miroku asked.

The only answer he got was a tree branch thrown at his head. "I guess not." Miroku mumbled as he attended his head.

"Kagome you really should try not to worry so much." Sango said as they both waded in the water.

"I'm not." Kagome said as she found a seat against a boulder that was halfway in the water.

"I may have just met you a while ago but I know when you're worried." Sango said.

"Hai, your not as happy as you were yesterday." Shippo said. He didn't know them well enough and didn't know what they were talking about.

"Gomen, I just can't help but wonder what happened." Kagome said.

"Don't worry." Sango said as she took a seat next to her. "I'm sure we'll find out soon enough."

"Doesn't it bother you? That you don't know?" Kagome asked.

"Not really. I had a good life before I knew I was missing memories. I am a little curious but I could live without knowing." Sango said. "I just came with you because it felt like I had to. I usually don't travel with strangers."

Kagome laughed and stood up. "Arigato Sango. I feel better now. How about we hurry up so the guys don't whine later."

"Hai." Sango said.

"You two take forever while bathing." Inuyasha said as he jumped down from his tree branch.

"We weren't gone that long baka." Shippo said as he jumped from Kagome's arms to the ground and sat near the fire.

"What do we do now?" Kagome asked.

"I don't know." Inuyasha said. "We don't have much to go on."

Suddenly before anyone could say anything a dark purple cloud hovered above the ground and shot up around everyone.

"Don't breath it in!" Inuyasha shouted. He covered his nose and mouth with his haori but it didn't help. His body went numb and he fell to the ground. His strong nose made him, Shippo, and Kirara pass out.

Kagome, Sango, and Miroku all coughed, slowly falling to the ground. Their bodies also went numb and they collapsed to the ground. The cloud slowly faded and someone walked up to the group.
