Chapter 34

Morning After Mating

 

Kagome slowly opened her eyes. She felt like a whole knew person for some odd reason. She rolled over and came face to face with Inuyasha. Suddenly flashes of the night before ran through her mind. She blushed brightly and looked at him. He seemed to still be sleeping, which was strange because he was always up before her.

 

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, making her aware of their state of undress. She slowly removed his arm from around her waste and sat up. As soon as she moved her leg she gasped in pain. Muscles she didn't even know she had hurt.

 

“Itai.” She moaned and tried to massage her sore muscles. She screamed when she was suddenly pulled back to the ground. “You scared me!”

 

“Get used to it.” Inuyasha mumbled against her shoulder.

 

“How long have you been up?” She asked.

 

“About an hour before you.” He said and lazily licked her neck.

 

“Why didn't you say anything?”

 

“It's funny when you're scared.” He chuckled. “How are you feeling?”

 

“A little sore...” Kagome said shyly and tried to cover herself.

 

“I've already seen it.” He commented when he saw her. “No sense in hiding yourself.”

 

“It doesn't matter.” Kagome said. She gasped when she saw her torn kimono near a tree. “Inuyasha! What am I supposed to wear back?”

 

“Who said we're going back so soon?” He asked.

 

“What?” Kagome shouted.

 

“You can wear my haori. Either way they know what we came out here to do, even though it wasn't in my intentions. It just...happened.” Inuyasha said. He sat up to put his pants on and handed Kagome his haori.

 

“This is going to be embarrassing.” Kagome mumbled as she arranged the haori to fit her better.

 

“What is?” He asked.

 

“Explaining why we were gone all night and...You know!” Kagome shouted in embarrassment.

 

Inuyasha chuckled again. Even after last night she was still so innocent. Nothing had changed about her at all except she unconsciously moved closer towards him, an action only he noticed. Tired of her embarrassing ranting, he grabbed her hand, jerked her closer to him, and silenced her with a kiss.

 

“If you aren't too sore, then we should head back.” Inuyasha smirked.

 

“Jerk.” Kagome mumbled.

“I wonder where Okaa-san went.” Shippo sighed. He plopped his chin on his hand that rested on his knee.

 

“I'm sure she'll be back soon.” Sango told the kitsune.

 

“You never know. They did leave in such a hurry yester- ITAI!” Miroku fell forward onto the ground rubbing his head. He looked behind him to see Inuyasha glaring murderously at him with Kagome by his side. “Ah Inuyasha, Kagome, good morning...”

 

“You get what you deserve hentai.” Sango said not even bothering to help him up. “Kaede-sama is making breakfast now. It should be ready soon.”

 

Shippo looked happily at Kagome before dashing towards her. Before he could reach her Inuyasha caught him by his tail. “Let me go!” Shippo shouted, struggling to get free from him.

 

“What have I told you about running into her like that?” Inuyasha growled in warning.

 

“I'm sorry.” Shippo pouted upside down.

 

“Inuyasha! It's okay.” Kagome said. She took Shippo from him and held him. “Sorry about leaving you alone like that.”

 

“It's okay.” Shippo said happily as he snuggled into her, sticking his tongue out at Inuyasha.

 

“So I take it your night was enjoyable?” Miroku smirked. “I would hope it was since you left in such a hurry...”

 

“Shut up bouzo or I'll throw another rock at you...bigger this time.” Inuyasha warned.

 

“Hai, Hai, I understand.” Miroku said. As soon as Inuyasha sat down he moved closer to him. “Was it worth it?” He whispered.

 

Inuyasha hit him again, making him roll back a couple of feet. “Itai! It was an innocent question!” Miroku shouted.

 

“Keep your thoughts to yourself and stay out of our business!” Inuyasha growled.

 

“You smell like Inuyasha.” Shippo said.

 

“She always smells like me runt.” Inuyasha said.

 

“It's different today.” Shippo said.

 

“How about we all go get some of that breakfast Kaede-sama is cooking for us.” Kagome said, quickly standing up and walking to Kaede's hut.

 

Everybody snickered but followed Kagome to Kaede's hut for breakfast.

“When will you be leaving?” Kaede asked. Everyone had finished their breakfast and hadn't said anything.

 

“Soon.” Inuyasha said. “I think we've discovered as much as we can here. Our best bet would at least be to go back to Sesshomaru's castle.”

 

“I believe Inuyasha is right. We've been here for a while and nothing has happened since our run in with Naraku.” Miroku added. “We've found our enemy and that was our main concern.”

 

“If we left now we could make good time.” Sango said. “It's nice weather and its still pretty early.”

 

“Thank you so much for your help Kaede-sama.” Kagome stood with her companions.

 

“No problem. Just remember to come back every once in a while to visit. I enjoy your company and would like to see how your journey progresses.” Kaede smiled.

 

Kagome smiled and nodded. She said thank you one more time before leaving with her friends to gather their things. She poked her head through the hut once more. “Thank you for the yukata!” She waved before Inuyasha pulled her away.

Later that night the group had decided to camp out for the night before returning to the castle. The longer they were away from Rin's pregnancy the better. At least that's how Inuyasha and Miroku saw it. Inuyasha didn't like staying in the castle anyway. He loved staying in the forest.

 

“What should we do after this?” Kagome asked as she rubbed Shippo's back.

 

“Probably find out all we can about Naraku. If he's our enemy then we need to know what we're up against.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Inuyasha's right. We need to be prepared for anything he may throw at us. Sesshomaru should know about him too.” Miroku commented.

 

“Maybe Sesshomaru will know something about him.” Inuyasha sighed. “Just when things were starting to settle this happens.”

 

“Hopefully after Naraku we won't have to worry about anything else and we can live our lives the way we want.” Kagome said.

 

“Ah, to live our lives the way we want...” Miroku said happily. “I'd love to settle down with Sango and our many children running around.”

 

Sango blushed. “What the hell have you been daydreaming about? Who said I'd have any of your children?” She shouted.

 

Miroku grabbed her hands in his. “Ah but Sango you'll come to love me and our future children.” He smiled.

 

Sango took her hands back and turned away from him. “None of that will happen if you keep acting like a hentai.” She said.

 

Kagome giggled and tried to cover it when she realized Shippo was asleep. “What about you Kagome? Have you thought about having children?” Miroku asked.

 

“I-its never really crossed my mind...” Kagome stammered. “I mean Shippo's my son now and...”

 

“Well I thought you would've thought about it since you and Inuyasha are fully mated.” Miroku said with amusement in his voice. “What about you Inuyasha?”

 

“That's none of your business lecher.” Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at him. He was just trying to embarrass Kagome.

 

“Oh come on, you know you've thought about having little ones running around.” Miroku said.

 

“Maybe but not right now. There's too much to be done.” Inuyasha said as if it were an every day type of conversation.

 

Kagome stared at him with her mouth wide opened. Again she didn't think he'd thought about that kind of thing. All she could do was blush after he had shut her mouth. “I think we should all get some sleep if we want to wake early tomorrow.” She said.

 

“Ah, Kagome's right.” Miroku said. His and Sango's futons had been laid out earlier when dinner was being made. They both went to them and laid down.

 

Inuyasha picked Kagome up and jumped to the nearest tree. He made himself comfortable and arranged Kagome so that she was sitting her back to his chest along with Shippo in her lap. He gently grabbed her chin and kissed her. He watched as she turned around with a blush on her face.

 

“Oyasumi nasai.” She whispered and leaned back into him.

Sorry for the short chapter but I thought it was a good stopping point. I know the chapter went pretty fast but the morning after the mating needed to be done and it's no fun hearing the details of their journey back and blah blah blah. Well hope you like it. Let me know what you think!
