Chapter 2

Awaken By Death

 

Sesshoumaru walked through the hallway, he sensed that someone was here. He went to see who was here. Sesshoumaru went out side and saw Miroku and Kouga. Sesshoumaru knew something was either wrong, or something serious was about to happen.

 

Kouga: “Sesshoumaru, both of us came by here to inform you that Naraku and Fiona are up to something.”

 

Miroku: “Strange things have been going on. Inu Yasha had informed us to come here to tell you. He had said that Fiona has taken the last two shards out of Kouga. That jewel is almost complete.”

 

Sesshoumaru: “Is Inu Yasha in battle now?”

 

Kouga: “He is, along with Kagome, Sango, and Kikiyou.”

 

Sesshoumaru: “Kikiyou?”

 

Shippo came to Sesshoumaru, he looked up at the tall Youkai.

 

Shippo: “Lord Sesshoumaru… May I be allowed to stay here and to keep Rin Company?”

 

Sesshoumaru nodded his head to the Kitsune then allowed him to go inside. Ayna came through the door. Both Miroku and Kouga were both shocked to see her living with Sesshoumaru.

 

Ayna: “Rin will be safe with Jaken and Shippou. I even have my pet Niela guarding Rin's safety.”

Sesshoumaru looked at his mate, as much as he wanted her to come with him into battle, he felt it would be safe that she stayed home. Of course, he knows that Ayna is just as stubborn as he is.

 

Miroku: “Aynastasia-chan?”

 

Ayna: “Let us leave now, this time we shall be able to defeat Naraku once & for all!”

 

Sesshoumaru: “Ayna… You should go to the Northern Lands, inform your brother Sethiroth. Together you maybe able to stop Fiona, while the rest of us defeat Naraku.”

“Kouga, Miroku leave here now… Do not wait for us!”

 

The two went off.

 

Kouga stopped Miroku after they were far enough from the castle.

 

Kouga: “Miroku wait for a second… Look back for a minute, tell me what you see?”

 

Miroku: “I am looking at Sesshoumaru's castle?”

 

Kouga: “No, I meant who do you see there?”

 

Miroku: “I.. I see Sesshoumaru and Aynastasia… talking?”

 

Kouga: “Urh… humans. Obviously there is a connection.. does that ring a bell for ya?”

 

Miroku: “Connection.. So they are thinking of a better strategy once Aynastasia has her brother to help us?”

 

Kouga: “Dammit.. Miroku. Aynastasia is Lord Sesshoumaru's mate!”

 

Miroku: “Wha..wa..what!? Dose.. anybody else know about this Kouga?”

 

Kouga: “Nah, I found out myself. Come one, lets move!”

Miroku: “Kouga wait up! Tell me more about how you found out this!”

The two ran side by side, as they spoke to each other.

Kouga: “You.. really.. want to know? I was returning home when I noticed a barrier near by the waterfall. I immediately thought it was where Naraku was hiding.”

“I found out that it was not Naraku's barrier, it was someone else's barrier. I was able to go through it, but I stopped.”

 

Miroku pulls Kouga's shoulder to stop him from running.

Miroku catches his breath for a moment.

 

Miroku: “Kouga.. just stop for a moment. Are you saying that you walked in the barrier?”

 

Kouga: “Well, there were two barriers; the first one I did go though, but the second barrier I could not. I know that type of barrier to any Taiyoukai! You have to be either an idiot or insane to even attempt to go through that barrier.”

 

Miroku: “Did you see Lord Sesshoumaru and Aynastasia? Even if that is what you saw; why would they be there and with a barrier?”

 

Kouga: “I don't really know. I somehow think Fiona is involved. Think about it.”

 

Miroku: “Fiona? That is Aynastasia's mother right? What did Ayna do to her mother?”

 

Kouga looked at Miroku, then he leaned to his side and spoke softer to Miroku.

 

Kouga: “Miroku..Aynastasia did nothing to her mother. It was her Father; he is the one that chose Lord Sesshoumaru to be with his Daughter. Ayna was just a baby, and when her Father was still alive.”

“To make this long story short…Sesshoumaru was informed years ago be Ayna's Father. He told Sesshoumaru that he wanted him to be with his Daughter Aynastasia.”

 

Miroku: “Really? I..I thought that Youkais chose which ever they wanted to mate and to be their mate. How are they any different?”

 

Kouga: “Ayna's Father chose Lord Sesshoumaru because together; they will be the most powerful Youkais. Fiona did not agree to that; Possibly because Sesshoumaru's Father fell in love with a human, just like Ayna's Father has.”

“Fiona still refuses for her Daughter to be with Sesshoumaru. Little does she know that she had failed that mission.”

 

Miroku: “Right now.. let us head back before Sesshoumaru gets there before us!”

Kouga and Miroku started running again heading back to the battle.

 

 

Back at the castle….

 

Sesshoumaru: “Ayna… inform to your brother Sethiroth about this battle. You both can stop your mother; Narkau the other hand is a different matter.”

 

Ayna: “I know we can; This time I really do think we may… May defeat Naraku.”

Ayna took of in the speed of light heading the Northern Lands to inform her brother of the battle. Sesshoumaru felt uneasy about this battle, his gut feeling told him that something bad was about to happen. He was unsure on who that would be. He does not want to happen to happen to Ayna.

Sesshoumaru shook his head of the very thought of that ever happen to his mate. He took off in the speed of light to the battle.

 

 

Mean while back in the Northern Lands….

 

Ayna arrived at the castle; her brother Sethiroth stood at the outside the door.

 

Seth: “Oneesan… (He holds onto Ayna) I..I sense great fear in Sesshoumaru's heart; Please Aynastasia…Please be careful in this battle. I will defend you as much as I can. Oneesan… you are all what I have left.”

 

Ayna: “Oniiesan… (Ayna holds her brother tighter) I know, I do not want to loose you either. You have your two boys and one on the way with your mate. You have more at stake than I.”

 

Seth: “Oneesan…(He pulls Ayna away, and places his hands on her shoulders) You do not understand… Our mother will kill you.! I will not have that happen to you. Onegai! Onegai! Aishiteru!”

 

Ayna looked at her brother's eyes, he was serious to his plea towards her safety.

 

Ayna: “Oniiesan… Do not worry… Onegai. Once this is all over… Sesshoumaru and I shall come here to see you…possibly with our son.”

(Ayna holds onto her brother in a tighter grip)

“Oniiesan… Aishiteru.”

 

After the two siblings shown their feelings , they took off and headed right into battle.

The Battle of Both

Naraku and Fiona

 

Kagome, Inu Yasha, Sango, Miroku, Kouga, Lord Sesshoumaru, Lord Sethiroth, and Aynastasia; group up all together in hopes to defeat Naraku.

 

The battle has already begun. Inu Yasha is injured but manages to get through. Fiona who had the last two shards, she did not hand them over to Naraku yet.

Fiona notices that her son & daughter were here, but she noticed Lord Sesshoumaru standing near her daughter. She immediately headed towards Sesshoumaru. He instinctively defended both himself and Ayna from Fiona.

Fiona missed by a couple inches from Sesshoumaru. Sethiroth got involved to defend his mother away from Ayna; getting her as far away from her as he could take her.

Fiona detected a scent from both Sesshoumaru and Aynastasia; Fiona knew that Sesshoumaru must have already mated with her Daughter Aynastasia. Fiona is now very upset, not just because it happened, but she failed to do anything about it now.

Ayna knew that something had pissed off Fiona even more. Ayna guessed the fact her mother found out about Sesshoumaru and her from their scent. Fiona got away from both Seth and Sesshoumaru; where she was in front of Ayna. They begin fighting with their swords; Fiona came on to her swift and strong. Ayna manages to force the sword away from her mother. Fiona's sword flies away from her grip and lands on the ground behind her. Ayna paused for a moment but still had her sword drawn towards her mother.

With out warning… Fiona backhands her daughter sending her back a couple feet away. Ayna fell on the ground hard as she held onto her right side of her face. She got up, looked to her hand that was covered in blood. Ayna flicked her wrist to get off some of the blood off her hands. Sesshoumaru and Sethiroth noticed what Fiona has done to her. Sesshoumaru was about to strike at Fiona, but stopped to see his mate standing up to her mother letting her know that she was not going to go down that easy.

 

Fiona: “Aynastasia…I will kill Sesshoumaru for what he did to you; I shall kill him… the same exact way how I killed your Father!”

 

Ayna: “You..Killed my Father? (She raises her sword indirectly to run her mother through)

 

Naraku looks over his side and watches Fiona, with Aynastasia. Naraku has his barrier around himself while Kagome and the others try to break it through the barrier. Naraku was potting something that he knows it would cause someone to go ballistic on him. Naraku looks on to see who seem most important, then he will strike without any hesitation.

 

Fiona planned for her daughter to get into her defense, but Ayna was not aware that this was all a set up. Fiona plotted this from the beginning. She strikes at Sesshoumaru…so fast that she struck him with her sword that was hidden inside of her Kimono sleeve. Sesshoumaru did get away from Fiona after she had struck him. Ayna looked horrified for what her mother just did.

 

Sethiroth got a hold of his mother, where he placed his one hand over her eyes. Sethiroth forced all of his memories into his mother. He knew this was the only way she could wake up from years of torment, and realize that she is working with evil. Seth gave all what he had, until he felt her stop moving. Not knowing that his hands felt like they were on fire for it broke all the years of Fiona denying her family's values.

Seth: “Fiona….Wake up. You are dealing with Naraku! He is the evil person that you should kill. NARAKU WILL KILL AYNASTASIA!”

 

Fiona's eyes turned back to her normal color then she snapped out of it, she just realized what had happened. Fiona saw her daughter that she has not seen or heard from for many years.

 

Seth: “Fiona…Mother…Look what you did to Aynastasia.. your own flesh and blood!”

 

Fiona looked like she awoke from a long comma; she got away from her son's arms and went to her Daughter. Ayna looked at her mother, she thought she was coming for another attack on Sesshoumaru.

Inu Yasha started to slow down, but he noticed his brother and two other Youkais with Fiona. Inu Yasha sensed something was wrong, Fiona looked like she woke up from a bad dream. Inu Yasha is not too far away from them, so he moves in closer to know what was going on.

Inu Yasha got close enough where he decided to include himself in the group. Seth notices Inu Yasha, but is not alarmed. Inu Yasha his brother injured, Ayna was near his side when she was about to use herself as a shield from her mother coming after her.

 

Fiona was not going to attack Ayna, Fiona had no weapons in her hands. Ayna did not want Fiona to attack Sesshoumaru again, even though Sesshoumaru told her that he would be fine.

 

Ayna guarded Sesshoumaru unknowing what happened to her next would leave every one stunned. Inu Yasha looked on at Ayna and thought to himself…

 

**Inu Yasha's thoughts….**

Ayna is defending and protecting Sesshoumaru? Why? Fiona looks like she just woken up from a bad dream; why now does Fiona noticed that, she was working with evil?

**End…**

Ayna stood in front of Sesshoumaru where she would defend off her mother. Without any warning… Ayna was struck by an over powering poison. (The same type that supposedly killed her Father) Fiona stopped in horror, watching her daughter being struck by someone. Fiona knew it was Naraku, she remembered most of the plan she had told Naraku about earlier. It was suppose to be Sesshoumaru to be struck down, not Ayanstasia.

 

Fiona: “Aynastasia….AYNA!”

 

Kagome and the other clan stopped as they notice silence was in the air. They all knew that this was not good.

 

Ayna felt herself weakening; she instinctively pulled out the over sized spearhead from her chest, and dropped it onto the ground. Ayna dropped to her knees. Her chest felt tight, her voice weakened.

Sesshoumaru not to far from Ayna went to her. He saw Naraku coming at him, just as Sesshoumaru was about to attack, Sethiroth was right there taking over Naraku. Seth set up a fire flare at Naraku that forced him to stop.

Sesshoumaru pulled Ayna onto him. Inu Yasha looked closely at his brother's reaction to Ayna. Inu Yasha saw Sesshoumaru's left arm restored as if it was never cut off.

 

**Sesshoumaru has a flash back when he first saw Ayna…**

 

**Sesshoumaru: “Why is a formidable immaculate woman such as yourself doing here?”

Sesshoumaru remembered Aynastasia then…

 

**Rin: “Sesshoumaru-samma? Do you think Aynastasia-samma is the Artic Princess? She is pretty..or as you put it a Formidable Immaculate.”

 

A mental picture of Ayna when she was alone looking up at the night sky. Another vision where Ayna stayed by Rin's side ever since she re-encountered her bad memories back from Naraku. The latest one was showing Ayna in the present time where he showed up unexpected; that time he remembered well. It was the very beginning where it all began.

**End of Sesshoumaru's flask back…**

 

Sethiroth was piquantly now. His eyes glowed red, and was getting ready to change himself into his true form a Siberian Tiger Demon. Sesshoumaru held onto Ayna, and began to talk to him…

 

Ayna: “Sesshoumaru…(Ayna begins to gasp for air) Sesshou..maru..Aishiteru.”

Ayna gave her last breath.. In addition, was gone; still lying in Sesshoumaru's arms. His mate died, her eyes were still open as if she looked alive still, but she was not. Sesshoumaru touched her face from where it was hit from her mother, then to her wound in her chest.

 

 

 

Fiona wanted to go to her daughter, but knew if she did, Sesshoumaru would kill her instantly. Fiona knew her daughter died, she was stuck on what to do now. She buried her face in her hands and sobbed. Sesshoumaru pulled Ayna up to where he buried his head near Ayna's head.

 

Inu Yasha was beginning to think that Sesshoumaru does care about Ayna. So much so that he still has not let Ayna go. Inu Yasha knows his brother has to be hiding from his emotions from everyone.

 

Sethieroth was still combating Naraku. Fiona was still crying over the loss of her daughter. She fought herself to stop crying, but it did not really work. Fiona did look up at her Sesshoumaru who was holding her daughter. Sesshoumaru felt Fiona's eyes on him; he picked his head up slightly to see her face. His mane covered part of his face, he gave a fierce look at Fiona.

 

Fiona noticed Sesshoumaru was hiding his emotions, she saw a tear trickle down his narrow smooth face. Sesshoumaru resumed to holding Ayna longer.

 

Fury was building up inside of Fiona. She stopped crying; she got up walked over to Kagome where she gave her the two shards that belonged to Kouga; then headed to where her son and Naraku were fighting.

 

Inu Yasha vigilantly went to Sesshoumaru and Ayna. Sesshoumaru felt his brother's presence, at this point he can care less about anything anymore.

 

Inu Yasha: “Sesshoumaru?” (Concern in his tone)

 

stillness…

 

Sesshoumaru laid Ayna on the ground he took out his Tensaiga. It began to pulsate. Sesshoumaru saw the demons from the Netherlands appear over Ayna's body. He strikes down killing them, and to revitalize Ayna back to life. Sesshoumaru places his sword back into the sheathe. He knelt down to pick Ayna back up into his arms. Inu Yasha watched over to see if Ayna would come back to life.

 

Sesshoumaru held Ayna close, her eyes was still open. A few minutes later… Sesshoumaru watched Ayna come back to life. Her pupils showed signs of life again. Ayna began breathing again.

 

Ayna: “Sesshoumaru…”

 

Sesshoumaru heard her, cradled her in his arms and buried his face against Ayna. Ayna griped her hands around Sesshoumaru. Ayna's knuckles began turning white. Inu Yasha slowly moved himself aside and away from Sesshoumaru and Ayna. It was very understandable to him now that Ayna is Sesshoumaru's mate.

 

Back at the Battle….

 

Fiona formed a barrier over Sethiroth shielding him from Naraku. Sethieroth looked puzzled at his mother. Fiona raised her hand up and released a small sphere to Naraku, it blinded him momentary. Fiona then told Kagome…

 

Fiona: “Kagome! Aim your arrow at Naraku.. now STRIKE HIM!”

 

Kagome aimed her arrow where she sensed where Naraku and the Shinkon jewel, then fired. It hit Naraku, but not the jewel. Fiona wasted no time; she pulled out her mate's sword and went up to Naraku. She stuck the sword into Naraku where the Shinkon jewel was released. Naraku did not know that the jewel was out of him just yet.

 

Kagome sees the jewel, in addition to retrieves it with Kouga's help. Miroku, Sango and Inu Yasha were relieved to see the jewel out of Naraku. It was only a matter of time to obliterate him for the last time.

 

Sethiroth bust the barrier where he then changed himself into a Siberian Tiger Demon. Fiona only had a few moments before Naraku realizes that the Shinkon jewel is gone. Sethiroth jumped up and got a grasp of Naraku. Sethieroth released poisonous venom that was more potent than Naraku's miasma. Naraku broke free from Sethiroth, however started to weaken.

 

Naraku was mad he struck Fiona down hard. Sesshoumaru and Ayna both noticed what had happened. Together somehow knew what they had to do. Fiona was on the ground, Inu Yasha went over to her in addition to promptly removed her from additional injury from Naraku in spite of of what she had done in the past. Kagome, Sango, Kouga, and Miroku each and every one be set to end the battle with Naraku. Naraku was about to fire at the group except noticed that a accumulation quantity of supremacy force approaching him. He glanced over and saw both Sesshoumaru and Ayna.

 

Kagome along with all the others noticed Sesshoumaru and Ayna.

 

Sesshoumaru had his Tokojin drawn out, Ayna raised both of her weapons out jointly in addition to created a crystallized sphere. It was her element of water; shaped into a harden crystal barrier. That barrier flew right at Naraku, it froze him completely. Sesshoumaru raised his Tokojin and struck at Naraku. Once he was hit, a vast massive miasma cloud formed around him.

The miasma was then turned into flames. This was a good thing! Off in a distance Kagura, Kanna and Houjounshi were all liberated from Naraku's power. Kohaku's memories entirely restored furthermore the mind controlling was finally over. He instantaneously headed off where he saw the miasma turn into fire from the atmosphere, where he would reunite with his sister Sango.

 

Kagome and all the others could not believe what had presently happened, nor can they believe with the purpose of both Sesshoumaru and Ayna mutually be dominant to conquer moreover finish Naraku. Miroku looked to his hand, his Kazana curse was gone. He dropped to his knees; Sango saw him and went to him.

 

Sango: “Miroku? What happened?”

 

Miroku: “Is..is it for real this time? Am I actually free from this curse?”

 

Miroku's emotions take over, nevertheless he was delighted with the purpose of the curse was vanished along with Naraku. Sango kneeled down next to Miroku. Kagome gave Kouga the two shards. Kagome did not want to complete the jewel. She did keep the Shinkon jewel with her.

 

Inu Yasha helped Fiona to her feet. Inu Yasha told Fiona that Sesshoumaru revitalized Ayna back to life. He in addition told her that both Sesshoumaru and Ayna destroyed Naraku. Fiona's heart felt incomplete. She wanted to be with her daughter, years not knowing what has happened in her daughter's life.

 

Sesshoumaru and Ayna walked over to where Inu Yasha and others were. Kagome was the first to say something to them.

Kagome: “Naraku is finally defeated by both of you.”

 

Ayna: “We did not defeat Naraku, you guys did. Ultimately; we did however finish him off.”

 

Fiona sought after to go to her daughter, but her son Sethiroth, blocked her. Kagome went up to Ayna and hugged her. She was thankful to see that she was alive.

 

Kagome: “I am so delighted that this is over, what do you believe will happen now that Naraku is no more?”

 

Kouga: “Obvious, everybody will carry on living out their life furthermore finally be able to have some peace.”

(Kouga pulls Kagome away from Ayna, pulling Kagome close to him.)

“By the way; what do ya say we both go home Kagome?”

 

Everyone sighs of what Kouga said to Kagome, except for Sesshoumaru he did not care about his or her interaction. Inu Yasha starts to heat up with irritation.

Fiona began making her way to her daughter, Sesshoumaru felt perturbed. Ayna looked at her mother. Fiona stopped perceptive with the intention of Sesshoumaru would surly slay her. Fiona set her arms out, informing her daughter if she wanted to come to her or not. Ayna sensed her mother's sorrow. Ayna wanted to go to her mother, but felt it was best to wait a while before trusting her mother. Sethiroth went to his mother telling her that it would be best that she waits until Ayna feels more at ease and to trust her mother.

 

Ayna: “We should go now, I promised Rin to be with her once I got back.”

Both Sesshoumaru and Ayna left in a flash.

 

Kagome questioned Inu Yasha, instead, Kouga informed Kagome and the others about Sesshoumaru and Ayna. Yet, it did not have much of an impact as he thought it would.

 

Inu Yasha: “Well, duh. You suppose I did not be on familiar terms with about it. Hell I knew something was up with them.”

Miroku: “Inu Yasha? You knew about them?”

 

Inu Yasha: “Ha! I did not actually know about it in anticipation of now. I did on the other hand say a couple times that Ayna's manner was comparable like my brother.”

 

Fiona: “Aynastasia's Father was the one who wanted his daughter to be in the company of Lord Sesshoumaru. He said with the purpose of they be equally influential Youkais, simultaneously they are even more powerful.”

“For years I hoped Ayna would not be in the company of Sesshoumaru. On the other hand, my rage and torment in my life got the best of me. I nearly lost my daughter; without Sesshoumaru's Tokojin, Aynastasia won't be here right now.”

Sethiroth went over to his mother…

Sethiroth: “Come home, there is a lot we have to talk about”

 

Kagome and the rest went their separate ways. Kouga determined to follow Kagome back to Kaede's village.

 

Sethiroth and Fiona went back home to the Northern Lands.
