InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Bad Dreams ❯ It's him ( Chapter 2 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
The morning eventually passed, and Kagome was sitting in the kitchen, in a sweater and tennis shorts, eating an omlette, when Sota burst into the kitchen, in his pajamas. "Morning, sis." he mumbled as he leaned on the counter to grab a box of cereal.
"Morning, Sota." She said, dryly, as she finished off her breakfast. Standing up, she dumped her plate in the sink, and washed her hands.
"I think I'm going to go see Inuyasha today," she said outloud. Kagome's mother nodded, as she came into the kitchen as well, yawning.
"Just be careful, and try not to be gone too long. I'm having that dinner tonight, remember?"
"Uh-huh," Kagome said, unenthusiasticley. Grabbing her shoes, she ran upstairs, to get the jewel shards.
As she put the cord around her neck, she jogged back down the steps, and pulled on her runners. "I'm going now!" she said, before pulling the door open, and disapearing into the backyard.
I hope Kaede can help me with this, she thought, determindley, as she made her way to the shrine, where the Boner-Eaters well was located.
Pulling open the door, she entered the shrine, and stared at the object that assisted her in traveling between the two times. This is where it all happens, she thought, meekly, before shutting the door and making the short climb down the steep steps that led up to the old, dry well.
Swinging a leg over the side, Kagome pulled herself onto the ledge. As she let go, she fell downward. The familiar glow of the Shikon Jewel shards comforted her, as she was engulfed in a blue light. The sensation of falling was great, and she closed her eyes, as always, before once more, landing on solid ground.
Looking upwards, she heard the familiar sounds of birds chirping, and her eyes could make out the deep blue sky.
Grabbing onto a vine that had weaved it's self in and out of the neatly packed dirt inside the well, Kagome hoisted herself upwards.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome called, wrapping an arm around the edge of the well. "Inuyash-" she grunted as she fell out of the well, and landed roughly on her backside.
"Ow." She leaned forward, and gingerly rubbed the sensetive area. Getting to her feet, she whiped the dirt off her shorts, and pulled her hair behind her back.
Deciding she would just go to Kaede's village, and discuss her dream with her, she began to walk towards the village, leaves crunching under her feet.
"Kaede?" she asked, as she neared the hut. The elderly lady was pouring some water into a basin, seated beside an older man, who's arm was held up by a small stool she had set out, for her to inspect his wounds. "Ah, Kagome, ye have returned. Pleasent to see you, as always." The old miko greeted, without taking her eyes off the mans wounds. Kagome was about to inquire Kaede about her dream, but decided against it. I'll talk with her later, she thought, turning on her heel to go find Inuyasha.
The sun was high in the sky, and the heat wasn't too bad in the shade of the trees in Inuyasha's forest, as Kagome walked, her dark eyes straining for a glimpse of silver, or red. She knew none of her friends would be expecting her back, since she had said she wouldn't be back for several more days. "Inuyasha?" she called out, stopping by an old, dark tree.
"Higurashi." Kagome froze, and whirled around. Noone was there. Scratching her head, more hesetant about searching the woods any further for the stubborn Hanyou, she stepped back, towards the entrance of the woods.
"Kagome?"
Kagome yelped, and jumped as Inuyasha touched her shoulder. Whirling around, she stared at him, wide-eyed, her heart racing. Inuyasha cocked his head, a frown gracing his lips. "Why are you back so early?" he asked, scratching his head. "Did you fail that test already?" Kagome closed her eyes, and balled her hands into tight fists. "Inuyasha," she groweled. Recognizing her tone, he stepped back. "I-I was just askin' Kagome,"
"No actually, Inuyasha. I came back to discuss something with Kaede. It's been bothering me for a while now and I want to get it off my chest."
Inwardly, Inuyasha was disapointed. She hadn't come back to stay, just to talk to the old wench. A tinge of jealousey flared in his eyes, angry that she had not come to be with him, and aid in the finding of the rest of the Shikon No Tama. But Inuyasha just shrugged nonchalatnly, and rolled his amber eyes.
"Well, go talk to her than. That old hag doesn't have anything better to do."
Kagome frowned. "Honestly, Inuyasha, I don't get it. Whats the deal with you and Kaede? You're always on her case! Give her a break already!" She stomped past him, and meant to give him a light shove, but as she did, he caught her wrist and jerked her back. "What?!" Kagome snapped angrily. Inuyasha's ear twitched, and a snarl curled onto his lips. "I smell a demon."he whispered. As if on cue, a dark shadow fell from the tree across from them.
Emerging from the shadows, the demon's mouth broke into a wide grin and Kagome's jaw dropped. A scream forced it's way up her throat, but would not escape her parted lips.
He was a pale creature, standing at roughly 6'2. His eyes were dark as blood, and his build was muscular. His upper torso was bare, and his lower body was addorned in loose pants, much the style of Inuyasha's, but with less flare. His feet were wrapped in black cloth, and than had dark heavy boots over the cloth. His hair was completley white, tinged with black near the tips. It fell in his face, in a casually, yet dark manner.
"It's him," Kagome whispered, clinging to Inuyashas yukata.
