Chapter 3: I Did It For Love
~The Feudal Era~
“Kaede? Kaede, wake up!!” Inuyasha hollered while lightly shaking the elderly priestess
“Ugh…W-What was that?” Kaede mumbled while clutching her head
“Kaede, your awake, what happened.”
“I don't know? The barrier is too strong for me I'm afraid tha-“
“Afraid of what?! I gotta get to Kagome there has to be a way, think of something you old hag!!”
“Inuyasha, calm down, I'm merely saying that I might need some help taking down this barrier, my sister is extremely powerful, and Kagome is in no doubt some serious trouble. Ye have to get over there and help her.”
“As much as I'd love to, I CAN'T!!! You can't even bring down the barrier.”
“Calm down, look were both stressed, let us go back to village to think this over and sleep on it.”
With that said, Inuyasha reluctantly carried Kaede out of the well and headed towards the village. When they arrived they noticed Sango sitting in the corner of the hut in deep thought. They also noticed Miroku sitting directly opposite of her on the other side, and Shippo and Kirara sleeping soundly on the other side of the hut. Feeling the tension in the air, Kaede decided to talk with Sango in private. As they left the hut Miroku reluctantly began to explain what happened between him and Sango.
“Sango, what the matter my child?” Kaede questioned
~The Present~
Kagome scrambled to her feet looked down at Kikyou who was clutching her knees and moaning in pain.
`A jewel shard.. I..I can sense a jewel shard' Kagome thought
Kagome ran out of the house and towards the direction of jewel. She stopped in the middle of the yard. `The well house' with that she ran into the well house and noticed that Kikyou was following her. She leapt to the bottom of the well and removed the shard. `How come I didn't sense this earlier?' she wondered. She was soon greeted by the all to familiar warm blue light and softly floating her way towards the Feudal Era.
As she softly hit the bottom of the well, she looked up and noticed that she was in the past yet again. As she climbed out of the well, Kikyou soon exited after her.
“So, I see that you were able to break through my barrier.” Kikyou chuckled
“It was you!! But I don't understand, why would you do such a thing I haven't done anything to you!!!” Kagome screamed at the top of her lungs
“Haven't done anything to me. Are you delusional? You've ruined my relationship with Inuyasha, you must leave and never come back, or I will personally see to your demise!!”
“What are you saying!! What is wrong with you!! You're a fuckin psychotic bitch who needs help!! GET OUT OF MY LIFE!!!”
~The Feudal Era~
“Miroku…” Inuyasha hushed as he sniffed the air
“What, what is it?” Miroku asked,
“That's Kagome's scent!!”
With that said, Inuyasha flew out of the hut and ran to where Kagome's scent was strongest. `The well, she's by the well!!.' This caused him to run faster than he ever did before. He knew she was in trouble and this made want to get to her before it was too late he had so much to say to her. He's wanted to tell her how he really felt about her.
When he arrived he saw Kikyou and Kagome fighting ferociously. He ran towards them both but was thrown back by a barrier (thanx to mad she-demon) he looked up and realized that all he could do was watch as his two loves fought against each other.
Miroku ran off to find Sango and Kaede, but stopped when he heard them talking and his name came up.
“Kaede, I'm so confused, I can't tell if he really loves me or if he's just looking for some one to bear his child. I'm so lost right now!!!” Sango confessed
“Sango with everything that you've told me it seems that he does indeed love but isn't sure on how to express himself, just give him more time” Kaede comforted
“Are you sure?”
“Yes my dear”
“Umm, excuse me” Miroku interrupted
“uugggghhh!!! Have you been spying on us!!” Sango hollered
“ummm not necessarily… look Inuyasha needs our help, he picked up kagome scent and I'm sure he headed for the well.” Miroku informed them
“then we should get going I'm sure that this isn't going to turn out very well in the end.” Kaede said
they ran off towards the well and caught up with Inuyasha.

“Kagome! Kikyou! Stop fighting like this!! What is going on?! Stop this please!!” Inuyasha screamed
Kagome paused to see Inuyasha on the other side of the barrier that Kikyou had put up. It was too strong for her to break through, which was a very big shock to her. Considering that she was able to break through the powerful spell that Kikyou herself had inflicted upon Inuyasha, this should have been a piece of cake. But it was not.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome yelled
“Inuyasha, I see you have made it. I'm here to get rid of this problem in our lives so we can be together forever.” Kikyou calmly stated
“Kikyou, w-what are you talking about, there is no problem I…” Inuyasha stumbled
“No problem!! That girl is interfering in our lives!! If it wasn't for her, we could be together right now.” Kikyou flamed back
“Kikyou you need to get rid of-“ Inuyasha whispered
“Yes I do and watch me when I'm done we can be together for all eternity!” Kikyou hissed
Kikyou soon turned her attention back to Kagome who was looking at her cluelessly, wondering what she capable of doing next. Kagome's thoughts were soon answered when Kikyou ran up and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground. Kagome winced as she stood up and gripped her lower jaw. She balled her hands into fists and charged at Kikyou knocking her to the ground and repeatedly hitting her face. Kagome soon realized that this was hurting her more than punching your average person, considering that Kikyou was made of clay. Kagome was soon thrown to the other side of the barrier with a strange beam of energy, temporally knocking her unconscious. As she came to, she noticed that her head was throbbing painfully. Suddenly, Sango, Miroku, and Kaede arrived on Kirara.
“Kagome!” Sango yelled as she ran up to the barrier “Kagome, are you ok?!
“Yeah, I'm fine…” Kagome answered breathlessly
“Don't worry, were gonna get you outta he- Kagome LOOK OUT!!”
“Huh? Ugh” Kagome mumbled as she leapt out of the way
Sango ran over to Inuyasha and was hollering at him yet again.
“Inuyasha you gotta do something!!” Sango yelled
“There is nothing I can do… I'm sorry…” Inuyasha mumbled
“What do you mean Inuyasha?”
“He means that the barrier has been put up by a pure source, the Tessaiga will not be able to break through, considering that it was forged out of a demons fang.” Kaede answered
“Are you serious, you mean we just have to sit here and watch Kagome get hurt!!” Sango fumed
“Sango, please, just calm down, we'll find a way around it.” Miroku comforted
Just then they heard a scream come from the barrier, they all turned towards the barrier as they saw Kikyou getting slammed into a tree by Kagome. Kikyou then quickly kicked Kagome in the stomach, and fell down herself. As Kagome tried to back onto her feet, she felt Kikyou's foot land on her back and flip her over so that her stomach was facing up. Kikyou slowly began to press her foot into Kagome's stomach. Kagome began to wince from the pain. She was running out of air with every breath she took.
“Well, well, well looks like I'm going to be the one sending you to hell.” Kikyou said while ginning evilly
Kagome just looked at her with her eyes filled with fear. A tear began fall down them as looked over at Inuyasha and saw him yelling her and Kikyou's name. She turned her attention back to Kikyou and noticed that she suddenly had her bow and arrow. Kagome watched as Kikyou pulled back on the bow sting, lowered it so that it faced her heart.
“I guess this is good-bye.” Kikyou laughed out
Kagome looked over at her friends one last time as she saw them desperately trying to break the barrier, but there efforts were futile. She looked over at Inuyasha mouthed the words I love you and turned back to face Kikyou, and her death. Kikyou looked at Kagome smiled and shot the arrow. Kagome let out a yelp as she felt it pierce her heart. She shortly began to feel her hot blood seep out of her wound and stain her clothes. Kikyou lifted her foot off of Kagome laughed and let her soul-catchers come through the barrier to help her flea from the area.
When she was in the air she let the barrier disintegrate as she called out to Inuyasha;
“Inuyasha, I did it for love!! I did it for us!! Now you can die with me with no more interference!! I will be back for you!” Kikyou yelled and disappeared into the night
After that was said, Inuyasha and the others quickly ran over to Kagome. She was alive but barely.
“Kagome! Kagome! Are you alright? Please answer me!!” Inuyasha screamed
“Inu, Inuyasha? I'm so sorry” Kagome whispered
“Sorry for what, you didn't do anything wrong” he said as he lay next to her
“I let you down I shou-“
“Kagome I'm the one who should be apologizing, I'm really sorry and I promise I wont hurt you like that ever again.”
Inuyasha slowly and carefully lifted Kagome into his arms, looked at Sango, Miroku, and Kaede in a very worried face and leapt his way towards Kaedes hut. When he got there he laid Kagome down on the futon and looked at her. Just then Kaede entered the hut and began to try to help Kagome. She tried everything she could, but Kagome had lost too much blood and was in trouble. Inuyasha was by her side the whole time. They had to get Shippo out of there because he was over reacting. Kagome slowly opened her eyes and noticed Inuyasha sitting next to her.
“Inuyasha” Kagome whispered
“Yeah, I'm here. What is it?” Inuyasha whispered in response
“Inuyasha, there's something I want you to know…”
“What is it, and don't talk like that, your gonna make it”
Ignoring his last comment Kagome decided to continue, she didn't have much time…
“Inuyasha, I love you.” Kagome said as looked up at him and smiled
“I love you too Kagome” Inuyasha responded
With her knowing that, Kagome drifted off into the never-ending sleep; death.
Inuyasha soon noticed that eerily quiet. Her looked at her noticed that he could no longer smell life on her she was dead. Inuyasha couldn't believe it !! How could she die when he just confessed his love for her? He began to scream and hit things he was furious.
The others quickly rushed into the hut.
“Inuyasha, what's wrong?” Shippo asked
“SHES DEAD!! WHY!!” Inuyasha screamed at the top of his lungs
“Oh no….” Miroku whispered
Sango broke down and began to cry. Inuyasha got up and flew out of the hut, heading in the direction that Kikyou's scent was the strongest.
Miroku ran outside after Inuyasha he had no idea what the heartbroken hanyou was capable of and had to check on him, he did not look very stable…
“Inuyasha! INUYASHA!!” Miroku screamed at the top of his lungs
“Where do you think he could be going Miroku?” Sango questioned
“I don't know, but I hope he'll watch himself…”
“Maybe we should follow him?”
“No, if anything, Inuyasha needs sometime alone, he'll come back when he's ready.”
Inside the hut Inuyasha wasn't the only one who was crushed Shippo and Kaede tearfully stared at their dead friend, unable to believe what had just happened.
“Kaede, i…is she…” Shippo asked chokingly, he could hardly speak
“Yes Shippo, I'm afraid she is…” Kaede solemnly answered
“But how I mean she's my friend… maybe she just sleeping…”
“I'm sorry, but all we can do for her now is offer her our prayers and give her a formal burial”
“What about Inuyasha… he didn't look to happy either..”
“I don't know Shippo, I don't know…”

Inuyasha was running through the forest at full speed, he never ran this fast in his life. He couldn't believe Kikyou had killed Kagome he thought that HE was her target, not Kagome!! `Kikyou, why…' Inuyasha wondered before he sped up and began to close in on Kikyou's scent.
He arrived at this opening where Kikyou's scent was the strongest. He paused and sniffed the air.
“KIKYOU!!! KIKYOU WHERE ARE YOU!!” Inuyasha hissed
“Inuyasha! I see you have found me, are you ready to spend the rest of eternity with me?” Kikyou asked
“No, I'm here to make you pay for what for what you've done to Kagome, she's dead now because of you and I intend to get revenge for her death!!”
“Oh you can revenge for her death but not mine after Naraku pitted us against each other?”
“What are you talking about I've been trying to get revenge for your death all this time but you just don't belong here if your kill off my friends.”
“Inu..yasha… w..what are you saying? Don't you still love me?”
Inuyasha just stared at her, what could he tell her. She was his first love and he vowed to always protect her, but he has fallen in love with her reincarnation, maybe even slightly more than he loves Kikyou…. But he had to tell her the truth. Maybe he would be better off with kagome I mean; she wasn't always trying to kill him, and she was always there no matter what. But kagome was dead… he couldn't hold her anymore hear her voice anything. What he would give to even be oswaried by her again.
“Kikyou, I've I've…”
“Lemme guess you've fallen in love with Kagome, haven't you? I knew it!! That's why I had to get rid of her don't you understand!! I did this for us!! I love you Inuyasha!!”
With that said Kikyou charged at him, screaming, “come with me!!”

Sango and Miroku slowly entered the hut and sat down in front of the fire.
Everyone was just staring at each other. That's when they heard a whirling sound and Kouga's voice. Miroku gave Sango a worried look. They both began to exit the hut and reluctantly give the wolf youkai the bad news.
“Where's Kagome?” Kouga demanded
“Look, Kouga, I'm sorry but Kagome's…..Kago” Sango struggled and burst into tears. She ran into Kaedes hut.
“What's with her?” Kouga asked
“Look, Kouga, I'm sorry but Kagome's….dead.” Miroku whispered
“WHAT!!!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHES DEAD!!” Kouga screamed
“Look Kouga, your not the only who's hurt by this…”
“SHUTUP!! Where's dog shit!!”
Kouga didn't even wait for Miroku to answer, he ran off following Inuyasha's scent….
Inuyasha dodged out of the way and grabbed Kikyou's wrist.
“Kikyou, ill be back for you later, I just got an idea on how I can save Kagome I'll be back.” Inuyasha warned and took off again towards Kaede's village.
`I gotta get back to Kagome I can save her, I know I can…' Inuyasha thought to himself
When he arrived at Kaedes hut he walked in and noticed Sango crying. He already knew why she was crying so he didn't even bother to ask. He walked over to where Kagome was lying, scooped her up, and leaped of Kaede's hut.
“INUYASHA!! INUYASHA!! Please come back!!” Kaede yelled after him
There was only one person who Inuyasha could turn to at a time like this, Sesshomaru.
And that's exactly where he was headed.
Kouga was running through the forest when he came across a familiar scent, he turned his direction to the new scent. When he came a clearing where the scent was strongest. He paused in his tracks when he saw a woman who amazingly resembled Kagome sitting up in a tree, weeping.
“Uhhh… Kagome?” Kouga asked
“I am NOT Kagome!” Kikyou responded
“Then who are you?”
“I am Kikyou, who are you?”
“I'm Kouga leader of the wolf demon tribe, I'm looking for Inuyasha, know him?”
“Hmmm. Inuuuyaashhaa…yes I do know him, he headed back to my sister, Kaedes village.”
After that Kouga took off towards Kaedes village again he had to find out what happened, and why HIS WOMAN was dead.
Inuyasha arrived at Sesshomaru's lair and entered his castle.
“Sesshomaru!! I need your help please!!” Inuyasha pleaded
“What are you doing here?” Sesshomaru hissed
“Inuyasha! INUYASHA!!” Miroku screamed at the top of his lungs
“Where do you think he could be going Miroku?” Sango questioned
“I don't know, but I hope he'll watch himself…”
“Maybe we should follow him?”
“No, if anything, Inuyasha needs sometime alone, he'll come back when he's ready.”
Inside the hut Inuyasha wasn't the only one who was crushed Shippo and Kaede tearfully stared at their dead friend, unable to believe what had just happened.
