Chapter # 2: The Audition

Kagome took a deep breath as she walked up the driveway to Sango's house. She could hear music coming from the garage and gulped nervously. Why had she agreed to this? Oh right, to spite Inuyasha and it was because he was such a jerk she would do this to damage his pride. He had enough of it to supply a third world country so why not take a smudge away?

 

Kagome pulled the door open to the garage to see people crowding around her new friends band. She heard Miroku explain how the auditioning system was going to work, and worked her way through the crowd of people to give Sango her music.

 

“ I don't think I can do this Sango, there are so many people! “ Kagome exclaimed in a hushed voice to her friend. Sango flashed a reassuring smile and patted to her friends back.

 

“ Remember Kagome, it's to mentally damage Inuyasha, that's all you need to think about! “ Sango voiced. She knew Kagome was an awesome singer because she was the only one Kagome had let hear her. It had been a simple song with simple notes but Sango was amazed on how Kagome sang it and could somehow make it her own.

 

Kagome nodded and waited, her hands shaking and face paled in color. She played with her hands, until she heard the antagonizing voice of none other than Inuyasha himself. She scowled and turned to face him, a piercing glare sent his way.

 

“ You know, it isn't too late to turn back…” Inuyasha informed with a cocky smirk, than began heading towards the front of the crowd. He felt Kagome grab his wrist, there was a strange and respectful fire burning in her usually soft chocolate brown eyes.

 

“ I'm not turning back and I'm going to sing!” She exclaimed in a cool tone.

 

“ Good, because your up next. “ Inuyasha said with amusement in his voice. He laughed when he seen the look of pure terror on her face, and led her up towards the front of the crowd.

 

He pushed Kagome onto the makeshift stage and gave her a microphone. Kagome could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she stared at the crowd who was staring back at her. They were so expectant, what if they didn't like her voice? Kagome couldn't bear to be the laughing stock of the school, especially since she just started going there about a day ago. Miroku put on her music and Sango gave her a thumbs up. Kagome risked a glance at Inuyasha, seeing he was rather enjoying this torture they were putting her through and anger ignited anew in her once again. She would show him!

 

Kagome's song came on and she froze slightly, her face paled even more so than it already had. She forced herself to relax and began singing.

There was a very loud applause when Kagome finished. She had hit each of the notes with ease and looked practically flawless on the stage after a few moments of getting more comfortable with the environment.

 

Kagome laughed slightly than walked happily off the stage. Meanwhile, our very arrogant Inuyasha was thoroughly impressed with Kagome's natural singing talent and had decided right from the first verse that she was the quality they needed in their band, not to mention that Kelly Clarkson was very difficult to sing.

 

Kagome was ushered with compliments and friendly hugs. It seemed they had enjoyed her voice and she was somewhat relived. Her troubles were only beginning when later that night Sango had told her that she was most definitely in the band. Kagome could barely sing in front of a small crowd, how was she supposed to muster the courage to perform in front of many people?

 

“ Come on Kagome, we're going to celebrate!” Sango exclaimed excitedly. Miroku and Inuyasha looked at each other, knowing when Sango wanted to get out and party, she really partied! “ We are so going club hopping!”

 

With that, Sango took Kagome to her house to get ready.
