A/N: Alright Chapter one now. Thanks for the reviews!
In a small village, there lived a young girl by the name of Kagome. She was an only child who only had her father for family. Her mother died in childbirth with her. Kagome was a gentle soul, always kept to herself and her books. Many of the people whispered about her behind her back, saying that is was unnatural for a woman to read.
She was a beautiful girl and though most of the men were not attracted to her because of her reading, there was one man that longed for her. His name was Kouga, the village’s best hunter.
One day, Kagome was walking into the town, the same routine she did every day and she was sick of it. She needed adventure but the closest she got was reading her books.
She walked into the book store. “Ah Kagome. Back again?” the owner Myoga said with a smile.
“Oh yes Myoga-san. I’ve come to return the book I borrowed. Do you have any new books?” she asked politely as she handed the book she borrowed back to him and browsed the shelves.
He chuckled. “Not since yesterday, my good lady,” he said amused as he watched his favorite customer peruse the books.
“That’s fine. I’ll borrow this one again,” she said pulling out her favorite fairytale and handing it to the old man.
He read the title and smiled. “But you’ve read it five times.”
“Oh but it’s my favorite ever. Daring swordfights, spells, fairies and romance,” she said excitedly as she walked over to the store owner.
“Well if you like it all that much, it is yours, my dear.” He handed her the book as he ushered her to the door. She was shocked to say the least. She protested but he said as he opened the door, “I insist.”
“Oh why thank you so much,” she thanked him as she skipped off reading her book.
She sat by a fountain, so into her book that she didn’t notice Kouga, the town’s best hunter walking over to her. “Why hello, Kagome,” he said charmingly.
She bit back a groan of annoyance. She hated this guy. His ego was bigger than his brain well if he had a brain. “Hello Kouga,” she said bitterly as she went back to her book, hoping he would leave.
He didn’t give up though. He grabbed the book away from her and skimmed through it. “How in the hell can you read this? It’s all words and no pictures,” he asked confused.
Kagome tried to reach for her book but he held it away from her. “You have to use your imagination,” she said finally getting it away from his grip.
“Why read when you have more interesting things to look at, like me.” He smiled his charming smile that would make most girls swoon but it made the girl want to puke.
She rolled her eyes. “I’m sorry Kouga. Maybe another time but I need to get home to take care of my sick father. Goodbye.” She hurried home. She had lied but she had to get away.
Kouga’s eyes followed her with a creepy smile. “You will be mine, Kagome. Just you wait,” he vowed as he walked away.
“Father I’m home!” she called as she set her cloak up the hook and her book on the table near the door before she went to look for her father. “Father?”
There was a note on the table. “What’s this?” she picked it up. It read:
Kagome, I went to visit your grandmother. I shall be home either tomorrow or the next day. There’s food for you in the icebox. I love you. Do not get into trouble. FatherShe sighed deeply. Her father often left without notice and it irked her. “Well now what shall I do?” she asked no one in particular.
Well I could always explore in the woods. She thought to herself. Her father never let her go out to the woods because he said it was too dangerous for a young girl. Being the adventurer she was, she knew she could handle it. She her grabbed her cloak again and tied it around her neck as she headed out the door.
She walked into the woods and was amazed at how beautiful it was in the clearing as the sun shone through the trees. She shivered a bit as the biting autumn wind hit her. It would soon be winter with the snow falling from the sky. She wandered a great distance into the woods but froze when she heard howling.
Fear coursed through her body. She had no idea where she was and the sky grew black as the sun set in the horizon. She wrapped her cloak tighter around her lithe body as the wind grew stronger. Something white and cold fell on her nose. Snow was falling. She needed to find shelter fast.
In the distance, she saw a castle. She struggled through the wind to get to the castle. She just hoped that there was someone that could help her out. Little did she know, she would get the biggest surprise of her life.
A/N: Well that’s a cliffhanger hehe. I’m so mean. Please read and review!
