Rin was happy; she didn't like Jaken very much. She was twelve now and for all the years she has been traveling with him, he has always been mean. When Lord SesshoMaru was around, Jaken would get hit for being mean, but he usually wasn't. This time, Jaken and Ah and Un left to go to a village, so Rin and her demon lord were traveling by themselves.

Soon it started to get cold, and then the snow fell. Rin wrapped her kimono that Lord SesshoMaru had got for her tightly around her. She looked around to find that the snow had turned into a blizzard, she had to stick Lord SesshoMaru, or she would get lost. Her toes started to turn blue; she wished she had those shoes that SesshoMaru's brother's wench had. Sandals weren't any good in the winter. Rin smiled, Always look on the bright side of things! she thought, and began to dance to keep warm. SesshoMaru glanced at the girl and shook his head, Such a weird child.

Soon Rin quit dancing, she was too tired. She put her shaking hands in front of her, yep still blue. "Come along, Rin!" SesshoMaru said, not looking back to she why the girl stopped. "Y-y-yes my Lord!" she squealed happily through chattering teeth, nothing ruined her bad mood. After a few minutes later SesshoMaru said again, "I said to come along Rin… Rin?" he turned around this time, but to no avail. There was no girl dancing beside him, no girl rambling on and on about something useless, no Rin at all. He backtracked a little bit to find that the young girl had fallen, and there was a layer of snow covering her body. SesshoMaru bent down to sniff her, then picked her up and continued on his way.

In the distance, SesshoMaru can see a cabin not too far away; he ran up to it and pushed the door open to find a man, a woman, and three human children. He smiled evilly, set Rin down, and killed the family in a matter of seconds. He would have made them suffer, but Rin didn't like that when she was there. Now what the hell am I suppose to do? He thought looking around. Damn, maybe I should have kept one of those worthless humans around. The glanced at the girl to find her opening her eyes. "why did we stop, My Lord?" she asked, her body shaking even though they were inside. "to cold" SesshoMaru grunted. Rin smiled, "I'll fix that Lord SesshoMaru-sama!" she started a fire in a hole in the ground, took two blankets off a bed, and wrapped herself in one, and put the other at SesshoMaru's feet, which remained untouched. She sat down by the fire, and the two sat there in silence for awhile, until Rin got up and walked to the window to see the blizzard.

"It's beautiful" she whispered. SesshoMaru looked up, "it almost killed you." Rin smiled, her face reflecting in the window, letting SesshoMaru see the grin. "It's dangerous, but beautiful too." She glanced at SesshoMaru, then back to the window, blushing, "kinda like you." SesshoMaru eyed her suspiciously, "what's that suppose to mean?" Rin turned to him, "you're death. Everything you see, you want to kill, and I bet I'm the only thing you ever kept alive. But you're still beautiful." She slowly walked to him and kneeled down next to him, gently taking some of his silky hair. "your hair is soft, and so is your skin. And your face," she slowly moved a trembling hand to his face and SesshoMaru lo0oked at her confused, "it's perfect." She traced his markings over his forehead, eyes, and cheeks. "everything is so beautiful, like a god."

She ran her finger down his face to his lips, and pulled away as if she was shocked. SesshoMaru pulled her into her lap, like when she was little. She fit different than he remembered, "you've grow, Rin." She nodded as she looked up at him with big brown eyes. "you are no longer the little girl who followed me around." She nodded as he placed a gentle kiss on his cheek and laid his chin on top of her head.
