Still don't own any Inuyasha charactors and still own Sitora and everyone else, minus Shinjiru. She's my sister's charactor, so no theiving. (Eventually I will get my artwork for this fic up, so look for that within the next few weeks.)

Chapter 6

Kagome sat in her room on the window sill looking up at the crescent moon in the sky. Clouds clung to the outskirts of the glowing moon hiding the stars from view. The trees shifted lazily in the breeze blowing loose leaves out into the cold world.

She had been sitting in there for most of the afternoon and hadn't moved once. Kagome imagined there was three or four food trays outside the door waiting for her. Once she was in her room she wouldn't open the door for any of the servants, so her food remained outside the door to go cold.

After what had happened earlier she doubted she would ever leave her room. The entire situation was a mess and she didn't know how to fix it. It would be safer for her to stay in there until she was strong enough to leave on her own. Building up her strength would take some time to do; at least a month.

Her blue eyes wavered when she saw a silver animal blur by in the garden below her window. Kagome stood up and opened the window. She leaned out the window, straining her eyes to see what was down there.

The door opened behind her, Sitora and Koa walked in and saw her leaning out the window. Sitora ran up to her and took a hold of the back of her kimono with her mouth. She pulled her back into the room.

"What are you doing?!" She glared at Sitora when she was set down on the floor. A good sized hole graced the back of her kimono.

"You were trying to leave out the window weren't you?" Koa looked at her with his head cocked to the side.

"No," she sighed, "I saw something outside and was trying to see what it was." She stood up and closed the window. "I have no reason to try and run away now do I?"

Sitora cocked her head to the side, "What do you mean?"

"No matter how much I try I can't use my miko power. Since I healed myself I lost my power, so if I did try to escape I would being doing it without the protection of my powers." She sat on her bed, "What are you guys doing in here anyways?"

Koa looked at Sitora then at Kagome, "We saw your friends today."

"What? Where?"

"They were in a village that had been detroyed by the same tigers that attacked Sitora. The hanyou, a kit, a monk, and a youkai slayer were there and got attacked by Saisuke." Before Kagome could start to worry Koa said, "We killed Saisuke and your friends are fine. They are searching for you and wont give up until they find you."

"If that is the case I doubt Inuyasha will care for very long. He has Kikyo, if he finds out that I'm okay and am actually enjoying my stay for the most part, he'll go back to Kikyo and forget all about me." Kagome fell back on the bed and stared at the ceiling, "Inuyasha is only dedicated to Kikyo, no one else."

"Are you sure?" Sitora inquired, "He seemed pretty frantic to find you."

A brief sadness crossed her eyes, but went unseen. "Yeah, I'm sure. Inuyasha is only loyal to someone who can offer him something, and I can't offer what he wants."

"Does he want love? Acceptance?" Koa looked at her expectantly though she didn't see him.

"No, none of that. I offered him that and he threw it back in my face. Inuyasha wants to be one of two things."

He looked up and tried to find what had her attention. Koa didn't see anything that would warrant the type of concentration that Kagome was showing. "What are those two things?"

"For Kikyo he is willing to become a human. For some other reason he has never told me, he wants to be a youkai; a full youkai. I asked him why and he only told me it was none of my business, so I dropped it." Kagome looked away from the ceiling not wanting to see what she was seeing. "Since then he is dedicated to being human for Kikyo. Inuyasha is a fool."

A laugh passed over Koa's lips, "I agree with you on that Kagome." Deciding it was time to change the subject before certain questions arose Koa said, "What did you see outside?"

"I thought I saw something silver, like an animal. It was fast, I didn't catch a good glimpse of it though, so I'm not sure if I really saw it or not." She groaned and leaned back, "I want to go home."

"Why? I Thought you wanted to stay here for a little while?"

Kagome met Sitora's stare, "I did, I do, but now I'm not so sure..."

"What happened today?"

"I don't really want to talk about it. What happened happened and can't be undone. It was all over before I saw too-" She stopped abruptly as she realized that she was going to say what had happened.

Sitora's eye brows shot up in shock. About a million scenarios popped into her head at once all about what could have happened to Kagome. "Koa could you let us talk for a bit?"

He looked at them both suspiciously but left as requested.

With mischeif in her eyes Sitora said, "Okay spill it. What happened?"

"Sitora-"

"No don't give me that. I know something happened and you should tell me."

She sighed, "Fine." Kagome paused for a long time trying to figure out how to broach the subject. Finally deciding on something she looked out the window, "On his body, what are those marks for?"

At first Sitora was so confused that she nearly asked Kagome what she meant. Her mouth abruptly closed when she realized what Kagome meant. "You saw him naked?"

Kagome burried her face in her hands, "Yeah I did. It was an accident. I was looking for the dining room and I saw him go into a room, I followed to ask and when I opened the door he was completely naked. I saw your Lord naked."

"What did he do?"

"He didn't hear me. I left before he had a chance to. So I stayed in here all day and avoided him." Kagome looked up out of her hands, "What should I do?"

"Well if he didn't hear you what is the problem? If he doesn't know then what difference does it make?"

"Sitora, everytime I see him I going to remember what I saw and I don't want to do that!" Kagome closed the window when she saw flashes in the distance. A storm was coming. "I hate storms."

Sitora laughed at her strange fear, "Why wouldn't you want to mentally undress our Lord everytime you see him?"

"Maybe it's just me but I don't really think he likes me."

She just shook her head, "I dont know about that, but I do know that you should at least stay here a while longer." Sitora walked to the door and, with another brief laugh, left.

Kagome stuck her tongue out at Sitora even though she didn't see her. She sighed and leaned her head against the window.

Lightning danced in the distant clouds promising to bring rain and the memories Kagome tried to forget. Down below the wind swept through the trees in the garden and brought the fresh scent of rain to the palace. It was only a few seconds before the soft sound of the rain hitting the window came to Kagome's ears.

Pushing aside her bad memories Kagome thought about the Lord of the palace. He seemed cold, distant, and still somehow have the ability to look good to her. She never looked twice at the men in her village or the ones that came through. All, if not most, of them were self-centered and wanted their wife to serve them. Love was nothing to them.

Although the Lord seemed like one of the ones who wouldn't interest her Kagome was drawn to him. There was something in his eyes that said there was more to him than there seemed. More that perhaps Sitora and Koa knew about but wouldn't or couldn't say.

His looks alone amazed Kagome. She had never seen anything like him in all her years of living. Of all the youkai she had seen he remained the most usually handsome. Under normal circumstances Kagome would never call a youkai who looks like a beast handsome, but it fit him; it defined him.

"The marks..." She touched the window and found it cool to the touch. Kagome moved away from the window to her bed and prepared for a long night.

He woke easily from his light sleep when he heard screaming. The Lord ran from his room to the one belonging to the miko and opened the door.

She was tossing in her sleep and tears fell silently from her eyes.

Closing the door behind him, he went to her bed and sat at the edge. Very carefully he pulled her into his lap and held her face between his paws. "Miko."

She didn't awaken, but instead screamed louder and thrashed harder.

"Miko." He waited as her nightmare worsened along with her struggles. "Kagome, wake up."

Her eyes flew open and she gasped as she realized that she had been reliving the memories brought on by the storm. Shudders passed over her body and she was powerless to stop them. Tears still fell from her eyes.

He waited for her to realize that he was holding her in his lap and to lash out at him, but she didn't. To his complete shock she held him close to her and cried into his chest. His arms tightened around her on their own.

Kagome tried to push the memories of her past out of her mind but failed to do so. She cried out in frustration as the memories played back in her mind.

"Why did you cry out in your sleep?" He wanted her to calm down, if she didn't she might go into shock.

"It was the storm."

He cocked his head to the side, "You were frightened of the storm? Why?"

"Not the storm itself but what it reminds me of. My father died during a storm when I was a child. Youkai attacked my village at the head of a storm, my father went out to sight them. All I really remember was that when the first flash of lightning lit the sky he was gone." She sniffed and squeezed her eyes shut.

He didn't say anything. Somehow he knew that she needed silence to recover from her nightmare. His duty was to be there, not to talk to her.

Kagome lifted her head and loosened her arms around his shoulders. She looked up at his brown eyes. They were filled with understanding and sorrow. "Thank you."

A nod was his response to that.

She then realized that she was in his lap and was a little too close to him. Kagome blushed and tried to move away but his paws stopped her movement. "Um, Lord?"

He moved his paws back up to her face and whiped her tears away. His eyes met hers, "I will let you ask me any three questions you want and I will answer all of them."

A little confused, Kagome just looked at him. She realized that this was her chance to find out his name. "What-"

"Think about what you want to ask me. You only have three chances to know anything about me. Choose your questions wisely."

Kagome closed her mouth. Was she willing to lose one question to know his name? She didn't know if she was. Looking up into his eyes Kagome came to a decision. "I want to ask you something."

Expecting the question that would come from her he readied to tell her his name. "Fine."

"Can I kiss you?"
