The nekoyoukai smiled softly as she watched Sesshoumaru and the woman sleep. He was almost completely wrapped around her as he lay pressed up against her back. His tail was wound around the woman's waist and chest, the fluffed tip of it twitching against the sleeping woman's neck just below her ear. His only arm was wrapped tightly about the woman's waist, drawing her back up against his chest and keeping her snuggly held against him, one of his long powerful legs had been thrown over both of hers, pinning her in place but also allowing him to know immediately when she woke up.
She could think of at least a dozen youkai females off the top of her head from different tribes and lands that had all vied to be in the position that this frightened blind human woman was in now. The neko's eyes saddened though as she watched a few stray tears fall from the woman's eyes in her sleep. It had been like that the entire time the woman slept. Though every time the woman's tears escalated to a steady flow in her sleep Sesshoumaru would pulse his tail wrapped around the woman in soft contractions and begin purring in his sleep, a sound and action that the neko had seen calm the woman several times that night.
She watched on, the early morning pre-dawn light illuminating the sleeping couple as the blind woman yawned and turned in her sleep to face Sesshoumaru. The taiyoukai seemed unpleased with her movement and as he slept, in order to still her, he rolled over to lie on top of the woman. The nekoyoukai watched on in amusement as the sleeping couple seemed to become restless, their legs moving as Sesshoumaru moved his own so that he was lying between her legs. The woman yawned again in her sleep and moved as she tried to find a more comfortable position.
Putting a hand over her mouth to stifle her silent giggles, the healer's apprentice watched as the woman first bent her legs and shifted further down, her lower body coming into contact rather intimately with Sesshoumaru's. Deciding that that wasn't the position she wanted to the continue to sleep in, the woman's legs lifted and wrapped around Sesshoumaru's waist, the youkai's tail moving to twine around her legs and hold them together as the action pulled her more intimately against him as they slept.
Oh how she wished she were a skilled artist, the neko thought with silent giggles, then she could paint the scene before her and keep it forever.
“Come child,” the healer said softly behind her, startling her out of her voyeurism. “We must gather herbs for the day,” the inu giggled softly as she too looked upon the scene. “We shouldn't be here when they awaken, otherwise the truth of what they feel, or at least what the lord feels will not be shared with the woman in his embrace.”
“Spoil my fun,” the neko groused good naturedly as she stood and followed her master out and into the fields of herbs.
Moments later Sesshoumaru began purring again, the vibrations rumbling through his chest and into the woman's body, stirring a feeling in her, a tightness in her belly as she slept. The scent of the woman's growing arousal reached the inuyoukai's sensitive nose and he buried his face in her neck, his nose just beneath her ear as he laved her neck with his tongue. Both youkai and human were still soundly sleeping, though they were acting on what their sleeping actions caused.
Sesshoumaru growled as her arousal grew heady in the air and his fangs nipped at her neck as he rocked his hips against her center, his tail pulsing happily around her legs as he held her in place against him. The woman sighed in pleasure at the feelings he was invoking in her body and her eyes fluttered open as she woke, her hands going to his hair and back as she held him.
“Sesshoumaru,” she said his name, hoping that it was indeed him on top of her.
Sesshoumaru's mouth moved from her neck, up to cover her mouth and claim her lips in a kiss as he began to wake up. It must have occurred to him, as the youkai woke fully, that there was someone beneath him, someone he was kissing, someone he was rubbing against, someone who was hesitantly beginning to kiss him back. His golden eyes snapped open to find that he had been ravaging the blind woman in her and his sleep.
The woman grew confused as all movement, all the touches and feelings abruptly stopped and she could no longer feel him holding her or even near her at all. Had she dreamt it all? Was she still outside? Her hands felt the floor around her as she sat up slowly. No, she was back inside the hut. So what had happened?
Do you really honestly think someone like him would ever want some wild girl like you? Her inner voice laughed cruelly at her, causing her to flinch and recoil as though she'd been slapped. Good god girl, even those men that attacked you hadn't really wanted you, they'd been sent by that dark man that offered you your sight back. You think anyone would really want you like that? You must be delusional.
Sesshoumaru's brow furrowed when he saw her flinch and recoil as though someone had slapped her. What was she thinking, he wondered as he saw her eyes fill with an inner pain so deep it nearly made him hurt to see it. The woman had been speaking less and less recently and seeming to cry more often. He was worried that she would become mute and that whatever her thoughts were they would eventually drive her mad, he had heard of humans and even some youkai taking their own life because of destructive thoughts and wished the same thing not to happen to her.
Don't you remember girl? You're the one that did all of this, that caused all of it. If not for you Rin wouldn't be ill and perhaps dying. If not for you Kari wouldn't be hurt. How many other things are going to happen that wouldn't if you weren't there? How many other people will you bring harm to? He never should have taken you in! All you've done is cause trouble and brought harm to others! Go! Go now before he asks you to leave, at least honor him that much. Leave before he has to lower himself to tell you to!
Sesshoumaru watched in concern as the woman sat there on the floor, her eyes widening even more as her hand rose to cover her mouth and tears filled her eyes that were shinning with self hatred and shame. Suddenly she got to her feet, and amazingly enough fled out the door of the hut without bringing herself harm along the way. He was stopped from following after her by the tiny weak voice that called to him.
“Pappa,” Rin called out as she opened her eyes and breathed deeply, coughing as she tried to sit up.
“I'm here Rin,” he said to the child gently as he moved to sit at her side. “How do you feel?”
“Better. Rin's head and throat hurts. Rin is thirsty,” she said as she sat up only to be set in her father's lap as Sesshoumaru reached for the bucket of water and lifted out the wooden ladle, bringing the filled cup to her dry lips.
“Thank you,” Rin said after drinking to her fill.
“Still tired?” he asked gently when he watched the tiny child's eyes drooping tiredly as she rested her cheek against him.
The girl in his hold mumbled a tired yes before yawning and closing her eyes as she drifted off to sleep once again. The healer here had told him yesterday that there wasn't much to worry about. The girl had contracted what she'd heard the humans calling a cold, and it more than likely wouldn't be as bad as it was now had she rested when she needed to or told someone she was feeling ill. He had to agree with her, though he knew his Rin was far too stubborn to tell him when she wasn't feeling well unless it was serious.
Once the child was sleeping soundly again, he moved her to lie back on her futon and covered her with the thick fur pelt that had been blanketing her. Standing up, he moved through the hut and was soon outside of it as he searched for the woman. He moved through the grasses as he followed her scent. She hadn't stopped running once she had made it outside the hut that was evident enough by the grass, leaves and loose stones scattered haphazardly by her running feet.
He found her long moments later by the edge of the thick forest as she was about to make her way in. He kept walking at his steady pace towards her, watching as she moved about like a frightened rabbit or even perhaps a squirrel. Her movements were quick, small and not all together steady. What was she doing? Where did she plan on going? She nearly shrieked when his voice sounded behind her, but took tight hold of her voice, the sound coming out as a startled squeak.
“The first thing you need to learn is awareness,” he said emotionlessly. “I made no effort to hide the sound of my steps from you, yet you did not notice my approach.”
He watched as she simply turned her sightless eyes to the ground and tried once again to make her way into the forest, her movements were stopped though when his tail wormed its way around her waist. He both watched and felt her tiny long fingered hands slide through the fur and try carefully to dislodge its hold.
“Where do you intend to go?” he asked as he walked nearer to her, his tail wrapping tighter around her the closer he got as more of its length wound around her.
“Away,” she answered her voice wavering slightly as she spoke the word softly.
“Away where?” he asked gently as his arm came up around her to pull her against his chest, tucking her head beneath his chin as he rested his head on top hers.
“Into the woods,” her voice still soft and trembling.
“Why?” he asked her as he stood holding her.
“Why what?” she asked as he tucked her closer to him, holding her as though she were precious to him and the damning voice inside her head raged at her.
“Why would you go into the woods?” he asked, his smooth silky voice silencing her damning inner voice.
“To go away,” she said softly, sadly.
“Why would you want to do that?” he asked gently as he began to purr ever so softly so as to comfort her.
“I…Rin is ill and Kari is hurt…because of me,” she said softly, frightenedly.
So that's what you've been thinking, Sesshoumaru thought as he finally began to understand, she thought he was going to send her away.
“Did you make Rin ill?” he asked her stoically, his voice soft.
“What do you mean?” she asked not understanding why he would ask her that.
“Did you give Rin something to cause her to be ill?” he asked her carefully.
“…no,” she said, the word falling slowly from her lips and it was clear she didn't understand where he was going with his line of questioning.
“Did you bring harm to Kari? Were you the one to strike her?”
“…no.”
“Then what makes you believe that you are at fault for their illness and injury?” he asked her trying to break through her self damnation with logic.
“I did nothing to stop it from happening,” she said weakly.
“You cannot stop an illness from happening; it is beyond one's control to do so. You have no sight, so how were you to know that Kari was going to be struck?” his hand had moved from around her and began to stroke her braid slowly, the feel of it oddly soothing.
The question gave her pause and she tried to sort out in her mind the answer to it. Was she truly not to blame?
“Aren't you…angry with me?” she asked softly, her voice betraying her confusion.
“Is there a reason I should be?” he asked her. “Rin became ill, terribly so. Kari was wounded. Instead of remaining in the place of danger you gathered Ah-Un and brought them to me, to safety. Rin and Kari are now both in the care of a healer and her apprentice. What reason do I have to be angry with you?”
Again, his questions gave her pause. “I did a good thing?” she asked slowly each word falling slower and sounding softer then the last, her voice by the end barely audible.
“You did a very good thing,” he confirmed and kissed her head.
“You're not angry with me?” again her words were slow and soft.
“No, I am not angry with you.”
“You don't want me…to go away?” she asked hesitantly, afraid that perhaps he still did wish her gone.
“Should you leave,” he said his voice stern though teasing all the same. “I shall hunt you down and bring you back.”
She giggled softly, and leaned her head against his chest as her mouth opened in a wide yawn. She felt Sesshoumaru continue to stroke her braid in long slow strokes and increase the volume of his purring slightly, the rumbles and soft sound soothing her into a state of gentle relaxation. As she was beginning to fall asleep she heard him whisper three words continuously to her in a soft mantra: you are worthy. He kept whispering the words to her until she was asleep and even for a few moments after.
“You are worthy,” he spoke softly to the sleeping woman as he lifted her in his arm and tail. “And I intend to make you believe it.”
