It had been a few weeks since her mating with Sesshomaru, the demon lord had thrown a ball to introduce her as his mate, inviting the other lords and ladies to the western palace.
There had been Lord Kisoka and Lady Kitani of the Southern lands, they were neko demons and weren't huge fans of hers. Kitani had wanted her daughter to be married to Sesshomaru but every time they tried to arrange it, Sesshomaru had denied the request.
Koga had mated Ayame and they had become the Lord and Lady of the Northern lands. Kagome had been so happy to see them again and was able to meet their children as well.
Then there had been Lord Mishu and Lady Lisaya of the Eastern Lands. They were forest kitsune demons. Both were young and mischievous, they reminded her so much Shippo who had also brought his mate and kits to the celebration.
Today, Kagome was lying in bed sick. She had been waking up every morning, sick as a dog, no pun intended. Hearing a knock on the door to her chambers, her brown eyes turned to the door to see her mate coming in. “How are you feeling?” he asked softly, the healer coming in behind him. “Same as I have been for a while,” she said with a frown, leaning her face into the hand that was cupping her cheek.
The healer was an elderly dog demon named Yamaki. “I wish you would have contacted me as soon as your mate started getting sick, Sesshomaru-sama,” his withery voice said as he looked over the sickly human. “I apologize Yamaki-san, Kagome had said it was most likely the flu when she did get sick; but I do have some suspicions as to what this sickness is but I need it to be confirmed,” the demon lord said as he looked down at his mate who was looking at him curiously.
Yamaki put his hand on Kagome's stomach, closing his eyes and checking her aura. “If you are thinking about what I am thinking then you are absolutely correct in your assumptions,” the elder dog demon said, his blue eyes meeting the gold of the demon lord's.
“It will be pure,” Yamaki said as he pulled his hand away from the woman's stomach. “Congratulations to the both of you, I expect you'll inform her, right Sesshomaru-sama?” Yamaki asked. The demon lord nodded to the healer and watched him leave.
“What is he talking about, Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked, confused about the riddles.
“You are carrying my pups,” he told her, watching her eyes widen with shock and then glance down at her stomach. “Are you serious?” she asked, her voice seeming breathless as her heart caught in her throat.
“Yes, I sensed it the other day but I wasn't absolutely sure, which is why I called Yamaki,” Sesshomaru said, looking down at his mate who seemed to brighten considerably. “When he said pure, did he mean they would be full demons?” she asked, confused once again.
He nodded. “Indeed, since you are miko and immortal, it gives you the ability to bear full demon children,” the demon lord said as his hand rested on her womb. “Just informing you that, we are having twins,” he told her, watching her eyes widen again.
Kagome's confused look was split by a wide, bright grin. “I'm going to be a mother,” she said breathlessly, excitement flooding her scent. The miko shot up; ignoring the dizzy feeling she got and launched herself at her mate, hugging him tightly.
Sesshomaru smiled softly and hugged her back, “I am excited as well, Kagome, there is nothing I want more than for you to bear my pups,” he told her and nuzzled her neck. Kagome grinned and pulled her head away softly to look him in the eyes.
“I'm so happy,” she said and leaned forward, kissing her mate deeply for a few moments before pulling away and putting her hands on her stomach. “How long do demon pregnancies last?” she asked him, curious as to when she should tell her mother to be expecting her first grandchildren.
“They last about 5 months,” he informed her, she grinned. “Will I be having them in a hospital or at home?” her next question came out. “That depends on you, there are youkai hospitals; but I would prefer you have our children at home,” the demon lord said. “As would I,” Kagome said, she didn't like hospitals, they freaked her out.
“Let's get you something to eat, now that we know what is wrong with you,” Sesshomaru suggested, helping his pregnant mate from the bed and leading her towards the dining hall.
“Yes, that would be the smart idea,” she giggled softly, leaning her head against Sesshomaru's side as he led her to the dining hall. “I have so many people to tell, my mother might die from excitement, she really wants grandchildren,” she laughed and felt his chest rumble with a silent chuckle.
“Though, she might be disappointed because there won't be any fuzzy ears,” she smiled as she thought of a good way to surprise her mother with the news.
