And so it begins…
The funeral was dark and dreary, a stark contrast to the personality of the couple being buried. The group looked around, rather uncomfortable. It seems the couple had made a lot of muggle acquaintances. The Potter's funeral mostly being a nicety for their family - what little left - and the media.
Rubeus Hagrid stood behind one Albus Dumbledore, scanning the crowd easily with his accommodating (and intimidating) height. The funeral ceremony was close to being finished, friends coming forward to place a rose and a handful of dirt onto the fresh graves.
One of the last to go up, a woman of short stature and ravens wing hair, caressed the rose before throwing it onto James coffin. She froze when it landed, seemingly shocked into stillness - if her expression said as much.
She backed away slowly; not seeming to notice the odd and wary glances people sent her way. Standing beside a tree she watched the rest of the funeral in a dazed manner, not even acknowledging the muggles trying to get her attention once in a while. When the last of the muggles were leaving out the cemetery gate, she took off her veil.
More of her hair fell out, covering all of her back and part of her thighs, the tumbling mass obstructing her face from view as she marched towards their group.
She shoved her way through the mass where veritably no one tried to stop her. It seemed that even with her short size and slight stature she could intimidate the best of them, even the ever-reluctant and brooding Snape.
They gawked at her, not seeing a threat quite as of yet, but amazed and perplexed at the muggle who seemed to make everyone she touched freeze in alarm. So as she moved coming closer and closer to Dumbledore, Hagrid himself was the last to step into her way.
She just looked up at him, and he was caught. Hair in her face only let visible one eye, an eye that was a startling blue that shone with an ethereal light and knowledge. She glanced into his eyes, and she seemed to look into his very soul.
And she continued.
Standing in front of Dumbledore she looked him over before crossed her arms across her chest. Dumbledore himself actually looked at ease until she looked up. Then the twinkle in his eyes disappeared and was replaced by mounting awe.
“I want the truth.”
-A simple statement really, but with so many repercussions.
Now the group was frozen indeed. If they had gained back their ability to move even when not under her frightening gaze they would have been shocked back into the eerie stillness. Never had they seen Dumbledore with that look upon his face.
“Tell me the truth.”
