* * * * * * * * * * * Kagome's POV * * * * * * * * * * *
"Kagome-chan, this is Miroku. He will be the one helping you get into the castle." Sango said introducing me to the man I knew she secretly her lover
"Miroku-sama." I said giving a small bow to show my respect
"Please, just Miroku, Lady Kagome." he said then took my hand, which normally would have made me blush, but I didn't because I knew that he loved Sango
"Very well, Miroku. Arigato for helping me with this, uh, problem, and please, call me Kagome." I said, a bit embarrassed about having such a problem, and the lengths I am going to, to get rid of it
"Dou itashimashite. In return for this, will you grant me a request." he asked, still holding my hand mind you
I looked at Sango, she seemed a bit mad, and jealous. Her eyes widened, but then they narrowed, but not at me. She was glaring at Miroku, and I could not figure out why.
"Ano, I suppose I could. What is your request?" I asked, eyeing him wearily
"Onegai, will you bear my child?" he asked, and I just about fainted
No one had ever asked me such a question in all of my life. I would have never known how to answer that.
"Hentai." I heard Sango yell right before she hit Miroku in the head with a big rock she found, most likely lying on the ground
"Ano, Sango-chan?" I asked as I looked between the unconscious Miroku, and the fuming Sango
"Hai?" she asked finally dropping the rock looking up at me
"Will he be alright?" I asked stepping closer to him
"Hai. He will be just fine in a moment." she said not even bothering to look at him
As she said though, a moment later Miroku was waking up. He sat up rubbing the lump that was now located on the top of his head thanks to Sango, I had to admit it was amusing to watch.
"Itai. Sango-sama, did you have to hit me that hard?" Miroku asked, still rubbing his head, while Sango began glaring at him again, oh yes this was so amusing
"I should have hit you harder. Next time I will." Sango said, obviously through gritted teeth, they both seemed to forget I was even there
"Ahem. Will we be leaving soon?" I asked clearing my throat hoping that would get their attention, and it did
"Hai." Miroku said, now acting like his head didn't even hurt, he was a strange person
"I will be there in a few days to help you out, but until then take care of yourself." Sango said walking up to me
"You better." I said giving her a hug, I hated having to be away from her, but we must do what we must
"Take care of her Miroku-sama. I swear if she is hurt when I arrive I will kill you." Sango said, and Miroku gulp, yes they were in love
"H-hai." was all he said as he turned to the horses tied to the tree we were standing next too
"Bai Sango-chan. I will see you in a few days." I said walking to the horse that Miroku was indicating was mine
"Bai Kagome-chan." Sango said waving to me, this was going to be harder than I thought, leaving everything behind
I mounted my horse, as Miroku did the same to his. Sango stood watching us leave, I was going to miss her even if it was only a few days. We rode into the forest, which I was use to by now with all the walks me and Sango have taken to get away from a certain someone. We had not been riding long, but I was already getting tired, it was from the silence, I was never able to keep quiet too long.
"So. You like Sango-chan, ne?" I asked without thinking, I also did this a lot when it was quiet
"Hai. She is a good friend." he answered me, I knew he was hiding something
"Or maybe more?" I asked with a knowing look
"What ever are you implying Kagome?" he asked giving me a innocent smirk
"I am not implying a thing. I am simply stating the obvious. You and Sango are an item." I said looking back in front of me trying to hide my own smirk from him, this was too much fun
"Did Sango tell you?" he asked going serious all of a sudden
"Iie. But I could tell by the way she would speak of you. Plus all of those nights she would sneak out to go see you." I said still not looking at him, though I could imagine how red his face was by now
"I almost forgot. I need to explain the rules before we arrive at the castle." he said changing the subject quickly as he could
"Hai. I know some of the things, but not all." I said letting him change the subject, for now at least
"First of all, you may not be chosen for just one master. You may have many different masters. You will be lined up, and the young masters of the house will pick the servant that they want, the rest will be sent to the kitchens or another part of the castle for work." he explained, I never knew that to happen, but I was from a different background, and I was never there when we had gotten new servants, I never wanted to be
"If you are chosen, you are to do anything your master wishes, unless he wants to bed you. If your master tries to force himself upon you, you have the right to fight him. It is against our laws and morals for men to force themselves upon a woman, of any stature. If this happens, you will not be in any sort of trouble, you are to come straight to me and I will take care of everything. Do you understand?" he said, it was a lot to take in, but thank Kami-sama I will be safe from that happening to me, I was sort of worried about it
"Hai I understand. Arigato." I said smiling at him, he was a nice man, alittle weird in the beginning, but a nice man
"Good. And there is no need to thank me, it is my job to help when I can." he said giving an almighty look, it was kind of funny, I could just imagine Sango when he gives her that look, that is if he does
"Are the masters nice?" I asked looking up at him, this was the main thing I was worried about with this plan, I knew people to be mean to their slaves
"I would not worry. Master Inuyasha is a bit hot-headed, and likes to yell at everything, but he is not that bad. Master Sesshoumaru, well he seems to not care if you are there or not, as long as the job gets done and you do not speak to him not harm will come to you." he answered me, though I was not sure if I liked the sound of these two men
"Master Inutashio?" I asked, he did not mention him
"The Lord is rarely at the castle, he prefers the smaller home on an island not too far away. He has been growing tired as of late, he likes to go there to relax. Bit Lord Inutashio is a very nice man if you get the chance to meet him." Miroku said, making me feel a little better about what I was doing
After that was said, it grew quiet again. It was about half a days ride, if we did not stop, which we did not intend to do. I was left to my thoughts, which was never good. People say I think too much, much more than a princess should, I always took it as an insult, and I still do. Naraku was always the one to say it first before people would agree. It was either agree with him and be praised (or not killed) or disagree and lose an arm, or maybe more. Naraku, I did not know why he all of a sudden took an interest in me. Yes my father is powerful, but is that all? Just my money and power in society? Or maybe it was because I looked like the one woman he fell in love with that got rid of him. Princess Kikyou. She was about to marry Prince Inuyasha, and everyone knew she did not love him either, just what he could give her.
Kikyou hates demons, and anyone with demon blood, but she could not pass up a chance to get richer than she was already. She was to marry Naraku, but since he was not as powerful as Inuyasha, she got rid of him. So then here we are, me riding off to a place I have only been twice when I was a child so I can play servant, all so I can get away from that evil bastard. I realized something, life sucks.
"How much longer will it take, Miroku-sama?" I asked, purposely saying his name like that, it was fun, and I was bored, so it fit well together
"A few more hours." he answered half heartedly, he was thinking about Sango, well her or he had another woman he was hiding from her
"Great. I get to think some more, perfect." I thought complaining to myself, being quiet really was not fun

About five hours later we had finally arrived at the castle, it was an impressive sight. Bigger than I remembered it to be. Miroku led me up the main stairs, telling me that after this I could not be seen talking to him so openly, it was against the rule. He keeps talking about these rules, so now I want to know what they are. I suppose he will have to tell me sooner or later.
"I think you will be fine. You look like an inexperienced worker, so you will most likely be passed over in the line." Miroku said, I did not know if I should take that as an insult or if I should be happy, I'll go with happy
We walked through the doors, Miroku pushing me in like some little kid. Girls were already lining up, but the masters were not there yet, I suppose they came when they wanted too. Miroku set me at the end of the line, which made me happier. He kept by my side, alittle further though not to make anyone suspicious.
"I hope this goes okay." I kept repeating in my mind, as though it would make it so
A moment later the doors I was standing in front of opened, two slivered haired men stepped out. One that seemed to be the younger of the two with kawaii little puppy ears, came out with a scowl on his face. The other, which I of course assumed to be the elder one came out looking like, well nothing. He did not show anything on his face, no emotions what so ever.
"My lords, these are the women we have gathered. Please pick one to suit your needs." A small green looking toad thing said as he bowed at the two men, though he seemed to be scowling at the one I knew as Inuyasha. They said nothing as they stepped forward looking up and down the line. I was a bit nervous, I mean who wouldn't be. I have been here for no more than ten minutes, and now I am going to be looked up and down by a youkai that seemed cold as ice, and a hanyou that poured ink my hair the last time I saw him, though I would not be mentioning it.
"Feh. I'll just take this one." Inuyasha said grabbing a girl by the arm, she seemed familiar to me, like I had seen her before, but I could not remember
Sesshouamru kept walking down the line, he was getting very close to me. I had the urge to hold my breathe, like that would make him go away, but I didn't. It was my 'turn' finally, he looked me up and down, I knew he was only doing it to see if I was healthy enough to take on the work, but it was still weird for me. He brought his head up at the same time I did, and we caught each others eyes. His eyes seemed to pull me in, they seemed so cold. Yet. So warm. I was amazed. Sesshoumaru was the one to break the eye lock.
"I will take this one."
