Chapter One

Kagome flung her bag on the ground beside the well and leaned on the well, trying to even her breathing. The tears that cascaded down her cheeks remained unchecked as she tried to come with terms with what she had heard.

What a fool I am, she thought bitterly. I should have known! She closed her eyes and tried to piece together, what had happened up till now.

“Inuyasha! I'm going home!” yelled Kagome, her face red with anger. Inuyasha scowled and crossed his arms over his chest stubbornly, “No.” This just infuriated Kagome to no ends. “What is wrong with you, Inuyasha!? I have a family and I need to see them sometimes!”

Inuyasha yelled at her, “Kikyo would never have put her family first! All you ever do is bitch and whine about going home. And you yell at me for comparing her with you! All you're good is slowing us down! You're not good for anything.” Apparently that was the wrong thing to say. Kagome's face grew deathly pale, and her eyes turned dull, so much so they resembled Kikyo's. (A.N: I hate Kikyo, so back off Kikyo lovers)

“If that's the case Inuyasha, why bother keeping me around. Your dead bitch is around here somewhere, go ask her to be your shard detector. Cause I'm through.” With that she whirled around, and without looking at Sango, she asked in a quiet voice, “Sango, would you please lend me Kiarra. Sango nodded and Kiarra, in a burst of flames, turned into her larger form, and bounded towards Kagome. Purring, she nudged Kagome with her large head, as if sensing her sadness. Without a word, Kagome climbed on her, and was about to take off, when a crying Shippo threw himself at her, “Don't leave Kagome! If that baka doesn't want you here, we do! I don't want to lose another Oka-san.” Kagome smiled and held the little kit to her chest tightly, “Shippo, I'll come back. I really will. I promise.” The child hiccupped and asked in a teary voice, “Promise?” Kagome laughed affectionately, “Of course.” She deposited the child on the ground and after waving goodbye to Sango and Miroku, she took off.

Kiarra had left her at the well, but Kagome could not find it in her heart to return home with such a façade. She sobbed as she realized how stupid she was. Inuyasha would never love her or care for her. Sighing, she forced a smile on her face and jumped into the well. She was not aware of the four eyes that watched her. One set was dull brown and filled with malicious intent, while the other amber colored eyes were thoughtful.
