Chapter 2

Kagome sat in her room, reflecting on her fight with Inuyasha. He's such a baka! She seethed, clenching her fists. A tear slipped from her eye, falling onto her lips. Darting her tongue out, she tasted its salty flavor. Lying down on the bed, she closed her eyes, in an attempt to forget about Inuyasha. Slowly she drifted off to sleep, Inuyasha.

In the feudal era

Seshoumaru, Lord of the Western lands, sat in his private chambers, sipping a glass of wine. His brother's miko. He had been flying to where Rin and Jaken were camping and he had smelled her refreshing scent mixed with the saltiness of tears. Wondering what his brother had done this time, he had seen the firecat demon deposit her next to an old well. He had seen her tears and they made him uneasy. Then he had seen her jump into the well. And then her scent had disappeared.

Where did she go? He had to know who she was. Coming to a decision, he stood up, forgetting about the wine, and spoke in an icy voice.

“Jaken.”

The little toad came stumbling into the room, and bowed nervously, “Yes, my Lord?”

The toad's fear of him was very amusing to Seshoumaru. However, his face did not betray any emotion, “I am going to take care of some matters. Watch over Rin.”

With that, he was gone. Jaken scurried from the room. Even the room was intimidating.

In the modern era

“Bye mom, I'm going back. Tell Souta, I said bye.” Her mother kissed her, and looked at her daughter, who was running towards the shed, with her yellow backpack on her shoulders. Even though she had never said it aloud, Mrs. Hirugashi was very proud of her independent daughter.

Kagome swung her bagpack into the well and jumped in after it. After the flash of blue, she smelled the fresh scent of the feudal era. It was very calming and soothing. Knowing that Inuyasha wouldn't be there, she climbed out and hoisted the bag over the well onto the patch of grass. Then swinging it across her shoulders, she walked toward Kaede's village. Seshoumaru watched with growing amazement, as the girl walked very calmly towards the village. His eyes narrowed. Something was very strange.

Kagome walked towards the village. Her anger at Inuyasha had diminished greatly. She had decided that he had been very frustrated and those words had just come out of nowhere. As she walked at a slow pace, she suddenly heard voices.

One of the voices belonged to Inuyasha, while the other belonged to . . . . . . Kikyo! She slowly crept forward and peered through the bushes. Inuyasha stood in front of Kikyo, dangerously close, while Kikyo's soul collectors hovered nearby. Kagome edged closer to eavesdrop.

“…….the bitch is useless, Kikyo. Why can't you join our group?”

Kagome's eyes filled with tears. He did mean what he said yesterday.

“Inuyasha. There is a way to get my incarnation out of the way. If you tear out her heart, her soul will become mine once again, and I will live again.”

“What!? Why didn't you tell me this sooner?”

“I found out a few days ago about this method from a priestess. If you really want me back and you want me to join your group, kill her when she returns.”

Inuyasha smiled and pulled Kikyo into an embrace.

Kagome had heard enough. She backed away stumbling. Leaving her bag where it was she ran blindly into the woods. Her heart broken, she ran wherever her feet took her.

How could he? I trusted you Inuyasha! I trusted you with my heart! You bastard! I hate you!

She bumped into something hard and warm. When she caught a glimpse of silver, through her blurred vision, she gasped in fear.

“N-No! S-Stay away Inuyasha! Don't you dare!” She backed away and stumbled, hitting her head against the tree. She blacked out.

Seshomaru looked at his brother's wench in surprise. What had her brother done to frighten her this much? He picked up the girl and took off on his cloud towards the western lands. The wench had much to answer. However, her tears bothered him and this was troublesome. She was just a human.

A.N: I won't continue till I have had a few reviews at least. Plus, what happens to kagome will be discovered in the next chapter
