chapter 3

A/N- YAY!! we finally find out who this mysterious hanyou is!

Morning found the group quietly eating their ramen, occasionally sneaking peeks at the girl sitting across from them, finally, Kaede broke the silence. "We have yet to know ye name and ye purpose" she pointed out, "hai" the hanyou nodded, "my name is Kalynna, I am an eagle hanyou, and I was just passing through on one of my forest walks when I sensed this distressed hanyou. I stopped him before he did some serious damage to himself" Kalynna gestured to Inuyasha as she talked.

"I have decided to stay and travel with you guys," continued kalynna, "you don't meet another hanyou, every day. After all, inuyasha should should have another of his kind, around" she emphasized the last bit as she glared at kagome, who looked away. Sango, seeing this, quickly said "well, I'm glad you're not against us" while taking in her golden eyes, razor sharp talons, wings and the three razor sharp feathers that sprouted out of her head like horns. Everyone nodded in agreement, "well, now that this is settled, let's get on with the day" said Kaede after they had finished their ramen, and once again, the group agreed, this time with a lot of enthusisasm.

The group separated to do their various tasks, Miroku settled under a tree to meditate, Sango started cleaning her mighty haikotsu (sp?), Kagome went with Kaede to learn about edible herbs, Inuyasha sat in his tree, deep in thought, and Kalynna walked around getting to know the group (minus kagome, of course). After about an hour, Kagome came back and asked Sango if she wanted to go to the spring that was nearby, Sango agreed and they left. After awhile, Miroku, being Miroku, got up from his sitting position and went to spy on the girls.

Realizing they were alone, Kalynna jumped up into the branch Inuyasha was sitting in, and sat next to him. At first she thought Inuyasha didn't notice her, but then Inuyasha spoke up, "about last night...." "yes?" Kalynna asked. ".......you shouldn't have gone out of your way to save a stupid pathetic life like mine" he finished, his voice consisting of anger at Kalynna mixed with self-pity at himself.(A/N-I bet you weren't expecting that eh? muahahahaha) "I just have no purpose in life without......her, and it'll probably affect my fighting, it might get you killed". Inuyasha couldn't believe he was spilling his guts to a stranger, he never would've done that before, but then again, the old Inuyasha died when Kagome kissed Kouga.

"I think you've got a purpose" she didn't know why, but Inuyasha seemed to bring out a soft spot in Kalynna, so she continued "so what if one girl is too dumb to know what she's missing out on, it's her loss. Especially when she's missing out on the most adorable, kind-hearted, and lovable hanyou in the whole feudal age" Kalynna could actually feel Inuyasha lightening up. "Not to mention, you have great abbs(sp?)"she added absently, she suddenly clapped her hands to her mouth, did I just say that aloud? she thought. Kalynna could feel herself blush furiously when Inuyasha turned to her, one eyebrow rised, and even though she was as red as a tomato, she still happened to think that he looked so cute like that. As soon as she thought that, she mentally slapped herself, I'm not supposed to show emotions!, I should be the indifferent one, the bored one, like mighty lord Seshoumerou(sp?).

Meanwhile, Inuyasha was also thinking to himself, as distraught over Kagome as he was, he hadn't failed to notice Kalynna's slip and her bright red face. Inuyasha realized this must be one of the modern day terms Kagome was telling them about, Kalynna obviously had a crush on him. He liked her well enough and she WAS a hanyou but he thought he would probably need a few times alone with her to really get to know her, if she had a.......crush on him, then he mind as well give her a chance.

The pair's silent thoughts were interrupted by a very loud smack, accompanied by "HENTAI" and a large flock of birds rising from a part of the forest where Inuyasha guessed the spring was. While Kalynna looked baffled, Inuyasha was snickering"-snicker-it seems the lecherous monk has been discovered -snicker-" when Kalynna finally understood, she got on a very disapproving and disgusted look. Sure enough, a disgruntled Miroku soon walked out of the forest with a lrge lump on his head, he was about to comment about Inuyasha and Kalynna sitting together when he received the death glare from Inuyasha.

"Don't even think about it monk" hissed Inuyasha, "by the way...better look behind you" Miroku turned, but was too late, he took a blow to the head, by Sango's Haraikotsu (sp?), and was knocked out. "Sango walked by his still body without another glance and put on a cheery face, "so what are we having for lunch?".

A/N- don't worry, there's more coming, but I'll be away for about 10 days starting on Saturday, PLEASE review, I need to know that people want more or I won't bother.
