Chapter 7
Thursday, at school, Kagome and Kikyo go into a huge fight, and it wasn’t pretty. This is the first time they had ever got “physical.” It all started with an argument that got way out of hand.
“Hey, did you guys hear that Kagome and Hojo were in the janitor’s closet and she was giving him a blow job,” one of Kikyo’s friends whispered.
“I heard it wasn’t Kagome, but that slut Megan from 5th period,” Kikyo corrected her friend.
Kagome overheard them talking about her and she could feel the anger in her begin to swell up and take over.
“You know what Kikyo, I would appreciate if you and your friends would keep my name out of your mouths,” Kagome said as calmly as she could, they were still in class.
“Turn around like a good little girl Kagome and shut your mouth. I wasn’t talking to you,” Kikyo giggled with her friends.
“No. But my name keeps coming out of your mouth. I can’t see what Inuyasha sees in you. You’re such a bitch.”
“How do you know Inuyasha? Don’t talk about him like you know him. He would waste his time on somebody like you.”
“Yeah, that’s not the impression I got when I saw him last night,” Kagome smirked.
“You lying scank!”
“It’s the truth. You can ask him yourself,” Kagome said smugly.
“Whore!”
“Tramp!”
“Ladies, ladies, that’s enough. I want you out of my class now!”, the teacher had enough and interrupted the altercation and walked them out of the class and to the office. They had never done this before, so the teacher didn’t assign them detention, but he would definitely talk to them about this after the class.
It was the last class, so they had to wait in the office, with the secretary, until the last bell rang. Ten minutes later, the bell rang and the teacher came back to the office to have a talk with the girls. Everything seemed to be ok, so the teacher let them go. He let Kikyo go first and then Kagome 10 minutes later to make sure they didn’t start up again. Kagome prepared herself for the walk home, alone. When she got outside in front of the school, there was no one outside. She started across the school grounds, when suddenly she was pushed down to the ground.
“I told you to shut your fucking mouth but you just wouldn’t listen, you little bitch. Keep your hands off of Inuyasha or I’ll kick your puny ass.”
People assumed that just because Kagome was quiet and petite that she wasn’t much of a fighter. But looks could be deceiving.
Kagome got up and brushed the dust from her cloth. She noticed she had a couple of scraps and scratches and that really pissed her off.
“You are really going to regret that, you stupid BITCH!!”, Kagome yelled as she rushed into Kikyo, knocking her flat on her back, into the grass.
Kagome had Kikyo pinned down, as she was banging her head into the ground and punching her in the face. Kagome didn’t know that some of Kikyo’s friends stuck around, looking for Kikyo, and found her bashing Kikyo’s face in.
They grabbed Kagome, pulling her by her ponytail, and dragging her off of Kikyo. They started kicking her in the stomach and sides, but that didn’t last long because Sango showed up with Hojo and Miroku. They pulled the girls off of Kagome and they went running away with a crying, bloody nosed Kikyo.
Kagome was still laying on the ground, crying and holding her side. Miroku picked her up and carried her to one of he benches on the grounds.
“Kagome, are you ok?”, Miroku said with concerned as Sango and Hojo looked on wanting to know she was alright.
“Yea, I think so,” she spoke softly and out of breath, still crying a little.
“Oh my Gods Kagome, what happened?”, Sango asked.
“She caught me off guard. She came out of nowhere. She knocked me down, then something just snapped. Before I knew it, she was under me, and I was hitting her in the face. Then her friends showed up about a minute before you did and pulled me off of her and started kicking me, until you all pulled them off that is.”
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t here. I saw Miroku’s car in the lot and I knew he came to pick me up, but I couldn’t leave after what happened in class. So I went to tell him and I saw Hojo looking for you . . . ,” Sango tried to explain but Kagome stopped her.
“It’s ok, Sango. It’s not your fault.”
“We need to get you home,” Hojo insisted.
“He’s right. Let’s get you to the car. I can take you guys home,” Miroku offered.
“Thank you, Miroku,” Kagome said gratefully.
“It’s no problem. Just promise me you’ll keep your eye out for Kikyo.”
“I will now.”

The ride home was quiet. Kagome sat in the back seat with Hojo. She was leaning on his shoulder and Hojo had his arm around her comforting her. When they got to Kagome’s, they all got out to make sure she was ok. A little while later, Sango and Miroku left and Hojo stayed with Kagome. He couldn’t stay long though. He had to babysit his niece tonight.
“Are you sure you want me to leave? I can bring Nina over here,” Hojo asked.
“No. It’s ok. I’ll be fine. Momma and Souta are here.”
“Ok. Call me if you need anything.”
“I will.”
He kissed her on the forehead and said his goodbyes. Kagome went upstairs to lie down for a short nap. An hour later the door bell rang.
“I’ll get it,” Souta yelled from the kitchen, running through the living room to answer the door.
“Hey runt. Is Kagome here?”
“Yeah. But who are you? I’ve never seen you before. Are you her new boyfriend or something?”
“Uh . . . no, I’m just her friend, I guess,” Inuyasha replied.
“So you don’t know if she’s your friend or not?”, Souta asked confused.
“Yeah. I’m her friend. Now can I please see her?”, Inuyasha said impatiently.
“Sure. Come in,” Souta motioned for Inuyasha to walk through the door.
“Hey sis, somebody’s here to see ya,” Souta ran to the stairs and shouted.
“You can sit down if you want,” Souta pointed to the couch offering a seat to Inuyasha and ran back up stairs to his room.
Inuyasha sat down on the couch as he heard Kagome come out of her room.
“Hojo, I told you that you didn’t have to come back. I’m fine,” she said coming down the stairs slowly, holding her side.
When she finally got down the stairs, she was surprised to see Inuyasha sitting on her couch, not Hojo.
“Inuyasha? What are you doing here?”, Kagome asked as she reached the bottom stair, with a confused look on her face.
“I heard about what happened. Are you ok?”, he asked with concern.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Just a little sore. But shouldn’t you be checking on Kikyo? I think she got the worst of it.”
“Yeah. I noticed that. I’ve already been to see her. I needed to get her side of the story, but that just lead to a huge argument.”
“What happened?”, Kagome asked sitting next to Inuyasha on the couch.
“Well, Miroku and Sango gave me their side of the story first. Then when I went to Kikyo’s, I confronted her about it and her story didn’t sound the same. I told her that she should just leave you alone and she snapped at me and told me that I was cheating on her.”
“I’m so sorry, Inuyasha. It’s all my fault. I told her that I saw you last night, and she took it the wrong way. I was mad at her, because she wouldn’t leave me alone, so I didn’t correct her. I just let her think whatever she wanted to think. I guess that’s why she attacked me after classes let out. I didn’t mean to cause you guys any problems, honest.”
“It’s ok, Kagome. Sango told me what she said in class and that she and her friends attacked you. She should have never said those things about you and Hojo. I thought he would be here.”
“He was here, but he had to babysit and I really am ok.”
“So, the little guy who answered the door, he’s your brother?”
“Yeah. That was Souta. My mom is probably at the store picking up something for dinner and getting me some pain relievers.”
“If you’re in pain, maybe you should go to see a doctor.”
“I’m fine. My mom is a doctor and she checked me out. I just got some scratches and bruises, but I’ll be fine,” holding her side where she was kicked the most.
“Why do you keep holding your side like that? Does it hurt there?”, he asked curiously.
“Yeah, those girls kick pretty hard, but at least nothing is broken.”
“Let me check it,” Inuyasha insisted.
“I guess, but my mom already checked it.”
She raised her yellow tank top a bit so he could look at the bruise. He slowly reached over and slowly grazed the bruised area with his hand. She fought to hide her blush as she got that “feeling” she gets in her southern region, whenever she starts thinking about Inuyasha that way.
‘I’m so glad he can’t read my mind’ she thought.
Kagome didn’t know, but Inuyasha didn’t have to read her mind to know what effect his touch had on her.
‘She liked it when I touched her. It turned her on.’
Kagome quickly pulled her shirt down.
‘Or maybe not’
Kagome sat quietly, trying to hide her expression, as Inuyasha scanned down and noticed the bandage on her knee.
“You scratched your legs up too?”, he asked, reaching out to touch her leg.
She moved her leg away from his grasp.
“I’m ok, really.”
‘Ok. She wasn’t aroused after all,’ he thought as he pulled his hand away.
Just then, her mother came through the door.
‘Good, a distraction. Just what I need,’ Kagome thought, relieved that her mom would take her thought off of what she really wanted Inuyasha to do to her.
“Hey mom!”, Kagome said excitedly, getting up from the couch to help her with the bags.
“Sweetie, I got it. You shouldn’t be trying to help me. Just relax,” her mom insisted.
Inuyasha noticed that Mrs. Hiragashi was struggling with the bags, so he got up to help.
“Well, thank you young man. I don’t believe we have met.”
“I’m sorry momma. This is Inuyasha. Inuyasha this is my mom.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Hiragashi,” Inuyasha said as he carried the bags into the kitchen.
“Inuyasha, will you be staying for dinner?”, Mrs. Hiragashi asked.
Inuyasha looked at Kagome and she just shrugged her shoulders.
“Such a sweet young man. He came to check on you, so the least we could do is invite him for dinner, right Kagome?”, her mother nudged Kagome’s arm to get a response.
‘Sweet? I would call Inuyasha a lot of things, but sweet is not one of them.’
“Yeah, why not. He did come check on me, but he’s not as sweet as you think,” Kagome giggled.
“Hey, I’m sweet when I wanna be,” he huffed.
“I know, I know. I was only kidding.”
“Keh,” was his reply.
“Well, it’s settled then. Dinner should be ready in about 20 minutes,” Mrs. Hiragashi smiled at the two.

Mrs. Hiragashi, Souta, Kagome and Inuyasha finally sat down to dinner. Mrs. Hiragashi had plenty of question for Inuyasha and surprisingly, he didn’t mind. Inuyasha even spent some time playing the video game with Souta after dinner. It started to get late, so Inuyasha insisted that he get going. He said goodbye to Mrs. Hiragashi and Souta, and Kagome walked him to the door.
“You’re just full of surprises, Inuyasha.”
“Why do you say that?”
“I just didn’t figure you to be the charming type. My mom really likes you.”
“Well, I am charming.”
“Yeah, well you never gave me that impression.”
“Like I told you before, you really don’t know me little girl, but we can change that,” he said with a smile.
‘Okay, let me hurry up and get him outta here before those thoughts come back,’ she thought as she played in her hair.
“Well, thanks again for coming to check on me. You really didn’t have to do that.”
“It’s no big deal. You’re my friend and that’s what friends do, right?”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. So, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow. You will be taking Kikyo to the prom, won’t you?”
“Yeah, that’s if she isn’t pissed off at me. I guess I need to call her tonight to make sure.”
“Well I hope everything goes ok.”
‘Not really.’
“I know you don’t really like Kikyo, so coming from you, I really appreciate that.”
“Well if you need to talk . . . I mean if Kikyo is still upset and doesn’t want to go, you know my number.”
“Keh.”
Inuyasha held out his hand for Kagome to shake. She looked at his hand and giggled. She looked up and smiled at him.
“I’m not a guy. You don’t have to shake my hand.”
Inuyasha looked at her with a confused look. She rolled her eyes playfully and wrapped her arms around him to give him a hug. When she let go, she noticed that Inuyasha was in shock by her actions.
‘Oh no. I hope I didn’t mess things up.’
“Uhh . . . right. Well see you tomorrow then,” he said as he left out the door, still a little dazed and with a little smile on his face.
Kagome waved and closed the door.
‘Way to go Kagome. You probably totally messed up your chance to continue being his friend. I probably freaked him out,’ she said to herself as she stood there, with her back against the door.
When Inuyasha got to the car, he just sat there a second, still dazed.
‘Snap out of it, you baka. You’re acting like a pretty girl has never hugged you before. I’ve only known this girl three days and she’s not even my girlfriend, so why am I acting like this. She probably thinks some thing is wrong with you. She hugged you and you just stood there like a moron. You didn’t even hug her back. Now she probably thinks I don’t want to be her friend anymore. I’ve gotta fix that next time I see her,’ Inuyasha thought as he finally drove off.
When Inuyasha got home ( to the estate, not Miroku’s), he called Kikyo to make sure that their plans for the prom were still on. Of course, he figured that Kikyo would not miss her prom for anything and he was right. Even though they were still a little upset about what happened earlier, he knew she would still want to go.
After he got off the phone with Kikyo, he started to think about Kagome. How she smelled like lavender and her hair like strawberries from her shampoo. It was a soft subtle smell, not like the loud and overwhelming scents that Kikyo wore. And how soft she was to touch. And her beautiful smile and how it lit up the room. And her eyes and her hair. He shook the thoughts from his head.
‘Wait a minute. What am I doing? I’m still with Kikyo. Yeah, I’m still angry with her about the fight but I still care about her. I might even love her. So why can’t I get Kagome out of my head. Maybe I should just get some sleep.’
He climbed in his bed and closed his eyes, slowly drifting to sleep.
___________________________________________________________ _________________
Kagome was at home having an equally hard time with her own feelings, as she lay in bed, drifting into her thoughts.
‘He actually came to see me. He said I was his friend. I know that we just meet, but I feel like I’ve known him forever. If someone had told me that I would be friends with Kikyo’s boyfriend I would have told them to check into a mental clinic, because they’re crazy. And he’s so easy to talk to. He is the only guy I have met that actually listens when I talk, but maybe that’s because I don’t usually say much. Don’t get me wrong Hojo’s a really good listener, but he doesn’t really do much talking. Between the two of us, there isn’t a lot of conversation going on. Inuyasha just says what’s on his mind. I like that about him, even though I probably shouldn’t. Some of the things he says he should probably keep to himself. I mean, it’s ok for us to be friends, right. It doesn’t have to mean anything.
Yeah, keep telling yourself that. You know you like him. The voice in her head was so brutally honest.
Hey, your not really helping here, besides we are both involved with someone else. I have Hojo and he has Kikyo, even if she is a witch.
But he’s so hot and what about those feeling you keep getting. You know the ones. Your getting them right now, aren’t you?
I was fine until you brought them up. Oh well, I guess I’ll need to get the shoe box now.’
A/N: Awe . . . nothing like a little waffyness to make you feel warm and fuzzy. And Kagome’s gonna have to figure something out. She may just wear her “little toy” out (LOL). As always, I love to hear what you think. Please read and review.
baka = idiot
A/N: You don’t want to see me talking . . . on with the story.
