Chapter 13
Sango ran over to her friend and noticed all the blood that was pooling underneath her limp, unconscious body.
“Kagome! NOOOO! ,” Sango screamed.
By this time people at the party were screaming and running out of the house.
“Somebody call 911! ,” Hojo shouted down the stairs to the group of people who were still there, while still helping Miroku hold a struggling Kikyo down.
Inuyasha was back up now, holding his arm. Once he saw Kagome’s lifeless body laying in a pool of her own blood, he jumped up and grabbed her to cradle her body in his arms.
“Kagome, wake up. Come on, open your eyes baby,” Inuyasha said frantically holding her close to him, gently shaking her. ‘Oh Kami no . . . this can’t be happening. I gotta get her to the hospital now. I can’t wait for the ambulance to get here. There’s too much blood. It would be quicker if I just take her myself,’ he thought as he got a better hold of her, getting ready to raise up.
Miroku and Hojo unarmed Kikyo and restrained her to a chair to wait for the police to arrive. Inuyasha looked over to Miroku to address him.
“Miroku, I gotta get her to the hospital. If I wait for the ambulance, she may not make it. She had already lost way too much blood,” Inuyasha said looking down at the girl in his arms.
“But Kikyo got you too Inuyasha. You’ve been shot too,” Miroku said looking at his friends bleeding arm.
“What this? ,” he said quickly pointing to his arm. “This is nothing Miroku. You know that. It will be healed by the time I make it to the hospital. I’m fine, it’s Kagome who has to go now, trust me on this one. I know I risk the chance of a lotta questions on how I got her there so fast, but I’ll take that chance. I can’t loose her,” Inuyasha was up on his feet now with the girl in his arms.
“YOU CRAZY BITCH!!,” Sango ran over to Kikyo in the chair, slapping her senseless before proceeding to punch her and kick her, knocking the chair over with Kikyo in it. Hojo and some other guest at the party who hadn’t ran out, had to now hold Sango down cause she was gonna kill her for sure. This also meant Sango wasn’t aware of the conversation that Inuyasha and Miroku were having. But once she was being held back from Kikyo, she noticed Inuyasha walking away with Kagome.
“Inuyasha, where are you taking her? ,” Sango said as Miroku was walking over to take over, holding her in his arms. She tried to struggle and get out of his embrace, but he wasn’t letting go. He had two good reasons to hold her. To keep her from killing Kikyo and to keep her from Inuyasha. “The EMT has to work on her when they get here,” she tried again to get Inuyasha to turn around.
“I ‘m taking her to the hospital. I can get her there before the ambulance even shows up. We are wasting too much time. You gotta just trust me,” Inuyasha turned around to address her before turning back around to continue walking down the stairs.
Sango gave Miroku a confused look as if to ask how he was gonna get her there faster than the ambulance.
“I’ll explain later. Just know, he will get her there faster. Right now we gotta get to the hospital,” Miroku grabbed her by the hand and proceeded to run down the stairs and out of the house to the car. Sango noticed that Inuyasha and Kagome were no where to be found. She wanted to ask how he was gone so fast without the car, but didn’t say a word. He said he would explain and right now she just wanted to make sure her friend was ok.
___________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________
Once Inuyasha was a safe distance from the house, he was running so fast that no one could see anything more than a blur as he ran to the hospital. He was there within five minutes of leaving the house. Once he reached the emergency entrance, he noticed some EMT’s were loading equipment on an ambulance.
“Somebody, please help me! She’s been shot and she’s losing too much blood! ,” Inuyasha said frantically running toward the EMT’s who were running toward him with a gurney, quickly rushing her into the hospital.
They raced her into one of the rooms and proceeded to cut off her bloody clothing, as they began to work on her. They cleaned her up the best they could to look for the entrance and/or exit wounds. They hooked her up to all these devices Inuyasha had never seen before except for on tv. She had an IV going and something to help her breath. Then she was hooked up to several monitors as well, to check her vital signs. All of the beeping and noises that the machines made were driving Inuyasha crazy. The smell of Kagome’s blood filled the air, making him sick to his stomach.
“Doctor, we have three gun shot wounds. Two went straight through; the other is still lodged in her side,” the assisting doctor stated to the head surgeon.
Suddenly one of the machines cries out in a continuous beep. Inuyasha knew the sound of that machine couldn’t be a good thing.
“She’s flat-lining!!,” the doctors rushed around her, one pumping her full of some drug and another readying the difibulator. Finally, one of the doctors noticed that Inuyasha was standing there, his eyes huge with horror as he watched Kagome slowly slipping away.
“You’ll have to leave sir,” one of the doctors said, pushing him out of the room. The only thing he heard before the door closed was someone shouting “CLEAR!”
Just as he was pushed into the hallway, Sango and Miroku ran up to him. He just stood there in shock.
“Inuyasha, what’s going on?! Is she gonna be ok?! ,” Sango asked him with tears in her eyes.
Inuyasha just looked at Sango with this unreadable expression. He didn’t say anything, he couldn’t. He was numb. All he could do was just stand there. Miroku and Sango walked him down the hall to the waiting area to sit him down.
“Inuyasha, are you ok? Weren’t you shot as well? ,” Sango asked worriedly.
“He’ll be fine Sango. He has already started to heal. It was only a graze,” Miroku explained as Sango looked at Inuyasha’s arm and noticed that there was only a scratch on his arm where there was once a large gash.
“But . . . how,” Sango started to speak but was interrupted by a nurse.
“We need someone to fill out the intake forms for the girl who was just brought into the ER,” the lady said matter-of-factly.
“Is she . . . ok? ,” Sango asked with a bit of hesitation.
“I’m not sure ma’am. I just do the intake. You’ll have to wait for word from the doctors,” the nurse answered back.
“Ok, I’ll fill them out,” Sango volunteered because she knew all of Kagome’s information. “Miroku, could you call Mrs. Hiragashi and tell her to meet us here at the hospital.”
Miroku nodded and walked with her to the receptionist station. Inuyasha was slowly coming out of his daze. He looked down at his shirt that use to be white, now red and covered in Kagome’s blood. ‘I can’t believe this is happening right now. I feel like I’m trapped in some terrible nightmare. I finally find “the one” and now she could be taken away from me, just like that. I love her so much. I can’t lose her now . . . it just can’t,’ he thought to himself as he leaned over to hold his head in his hands. A tear ran down his face. He hadn’t cried since his parents passed away and he was just a boy then. He wanted the tears to stop. He was told by his brother that men didn’t cry, but the thought of losing Kagome was too much for him to take.
Miroku and Sango came back just as Inuyasha was beginning to cry. Sango sat on one side of him and put her arm around him. Inuyasha leaned over to lay his head in her lap and begin to sob even harder. Miroku sat on the other side of him and just laid his hand on his friend’s back and lowered his head. They sat like that until Mrs. Hiragashi arrived at the hospital.
“I got here as quick as I could. What happened to my little girl? ,” Mrs. Hiragashi asked noticing that Inuyasha was crying and bloody.
“Oh Kami, Inuyasha are you ok? What happened? ,” she asked with utter fear in her voice.
“It’s Kagome . . . she . . . she was . . . ,” Inuyasha said so low, that she could barely hear him. He just couldn’t get the words out.
“Please tell me what happened,” Mrs. Hiragashi began to cry.
Sango stood up and took Mrs. Hiragashi down the hall and explained the whole thing. Mrs. Hiragashi couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Kikyo had done this. She and Kagome had been such good friends before. She could believe that Kikyo would be so hateful.
After hours and hours of waiting, the doctor finally came out to give everyone some news. Mrs. Hiragashi ran up to the doctor.
“Doctor, how is she? Is she gonna be ok?”, Mrs. Hiragashi asked as fresh tears began to stream down her face.
“Are you her mother? ,” the doctor wanted to clarify whom he was speaking too.
“Yes, I am. Please tell me she’s ok,” she looked at him waiting for his response.
“It was close for a while. We almost lost her twice, but now she is stable and things are looking good. We had to perform surgery to remove a bullet that was lodged in her side and one that was in her leg. There was a third wound in her shoulder where the bullet went right through. She’s a very lucky girl. If she would have gotten here five minutes later, I don’t think we could have done anything. She lost a lot of blood, so we did a transfusion,” the doctor was explaining as Mrs. Hiragashi anxiously cut him off.
“So, is she going to be ok now? ,” she asked hoping for the answer she wanted so badly to hear. They all attentively waited for the doctor’s reply.
“ I believe she’s going to be just fine now. Like I said, she is a very lucky young lady. The bullets didn’t hit any major organs or arteries. So she will make a full recovery,” the doctor said the good news with a smile.
“Oh, thank you so much. That’s wonderful news,” Mrs. Hiragashi sighed in relief.
“Can we go in to see her now? ,” Sango asked anxiously, wanting to see her best friend.
“Yes, but she is heavily sedated, so she probably won’t wake up for some time now. She really needs to get her rest,” the doctor stated before leaving to make his rounds.
Everyone walked down the hall to the room Kagome had been transferred to. When they walked into the room, Kagome was asleep. She had tubes and wires coming and going from her. She looked so weak and helpless. Mrs. Hiragashi and Sango walked up to opposite sides of the bed. They each took a hand to hold as they talked to her while she lay there asleep. Inuyasha just sat in one of the chairs in the room and observed. Inuyasha wanted so much to hold her in his arms and tell her what he really meant to say when he asked her to be his girlfriend. What he was going to say in addition to asking to be together exclusively, but didn’t have the guts to. He wasn’t sure she felt as strongly as he did. It was one thing to accept that he was a hanyou, but could she love him as one.
__________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________
It was now early afternoon the next day and everyone was exhausted.
“Mrs. Hiragashi . . . Sango, I really think I should take you two home. You probably need to get changed and get some rest. Not to mention you haven’t eaten anything. I promise to bring you back before visiting hours are over,” Miroku suggested.
“I don’t know,” Mrs. Hiragashi hesitated at first. “I do need to check on Souta though. I left him at the neighbor’s house. But I don’t want to leave her alone,” Mrs. Hiragashi replied.
“It’s ok. I’ll stay with her,” Inuyasha insisted.
“You sure Inuyasha? Don’t you need to get changed and rested also? And I know you must be starving? ,” Mrs. Hiragashi asked with concern for Inuyasha. After all, he looked the worst out of the group.
“Keh, I’ll be fine. I’m not leaving,” he said as he crossed his arms. He wasn’t about to leave until Kagome woke up and there wasn’t anything anybody could do about it.
“It’s fine Mrs. Hiragashi. I will just bring him a change of clothes and some food after I drop you and Sango off. Inuyasha is very stubborn. You’ll never get him to leave now,” Miroku said matter-of-factly.
Mrs. Hiragashi stopped her protesting and left with Sango and Miroku.
Now there was no one but Inuyasha and Kagome. He walked over to her bed and pulled up a chair right next to it. He reached out to gently brush the hair that was hanging in her face. Her hand was laying on the sides of her and he reached out to hold the hand closest to him, in his own. Kagome’s hands felt cool, not warm like he was use to. He sat there staring at his sleeping, helpless koi and began to speak to her.
“Kagome, I’m so sorry. This should have never happened. I almost lost you and it’s all my fault. It should have been me. I know you can’t hear me, but I have to tell you something important. I promise that I will never let you get hurt again. I can’t bear the thought of losing you again . . . because . . . because I love you,” he said as he leaned over to bury his head into the side of the hospital bed, still holding on to Kagome’s hand.
“Inu . . . Inu . . . yahsa,” he barely heard her mutter, as he felt her gently squeeze his hand.
“Kagome! You’re awake. How do you feel? ,” he jumped up to look into her eyes.
“Like I’ve been hit by a semi truck,” Kagome said, her voice dry and shaky. Nothing like Inuyasha was use to. She may have been joking around, but the truth is she was still very weak and sore. “Inuyasha . . . what happened? Why am I in the hospital and why am I so tired and sore? ,” she asked really not remembering what happened.
“You really don’t remember Kagome? ,” Inuyasha asked.
“The last thing I remember is being at the graduation party and you told me that you are a . . . I mean you told me your secret. Then we were going back to meet up with Sango and Miroku and ran into Kikyo at the top of the stairs. I remember yelling and loud noises . . . like fireworks, then everything else I remember is darkness,” she said sadly looking down at her body, reaching under gown to examine her own body.
Inuyasha sighed as he leaned over to cup Kagome’s face in his hands. She smiled, but then her smile turned into a frown when she looked at the expression on Inuyasha’s face. He had never looked so serious before.
“What’s the matter Inuyasha? What happened to me? ,” realizing how serious it was because of the large bandages she felt on her body.
“Well, Kikyo showed up as we were getting ready to find Miroku and Sango and leave,” he started.
“Yeah, that part I remember. I need help with what happened after Kikyo showed up,” she said demanding he gets to the point.
“Let me finish,” he said to her softly, as he caressed her face in his hands.
“Kikyo brought a gun and shot the both of us. She shot me in the arm . . . ,” he got out before Kagome interrupted again.
“Are you ok? ,” she tried to raise up to him, but it was painful so she laid back down.
“Careful Kagome. I’m fine. You were the one who was seriously hurt. You were shot three times and you lost a lot of blood . . . and you . . . almost didn’t make it,” he said as gently helped her lay back, his expression changing from serious to sad.
Kagome just stared at him with a blank expression. She was worried about him more than herself.
‘Kuso, I knew she would be upset. I can’t blame her. It is all my fault after all,’ Inuyasha thought, laying all of the guilt on himself.
“I am so sorry Kagome,” he said sadly, looking away.
“Inuyasha, why are you apologizing to me. You didn’t shoot me . . . Kikyo did. I’m just shocked that she would go so far as to try to kill me,” Kagome replied wishing Inuyasha would turn back to look at her.
“I should have protected you. I should have seen it coming, but I didn’t. It should have been me, not you,” he lowered his head.
“Inuyasha, please . . . you have to stop blaming yourself. It couldn’t be helped. Nobody but Kikyo knew what was going to happen,” she tried to comfort him with her words.
“But you almost . . . ,” he finally looked back at her, not able to get all his words out before Kagome interrupted him.
“But I’m fine Inuyasha. I’m gonna be fine . . . right? ,” Kagome half-told him and half asked, not really certain what her prognosis was.
“The doctor said you’re gonna be fine, but you were hurt really bad. Who knows how long it will take you to full recover. Or how long you will be stuck in this baka hospital,” he commented.
Kagome finally noticed all the dried blood on Inuyasha’s shirt. “Inuyasha, are you sure you’re ok? Your shirt is covered in blood,” she said a little worried.
“I told you Kagome, I’m fine. This is mostly your blood. I carried you here.”
“From the party? ,” Kagome asked with surprise in her voice.
“Keh, of course. I’m much faster than any ambulance. I wasn’t gonna wait for it, when I could get you here 10 times quicker,” he said like it was common knowledge.
“So you ran here? ,” she smiled at him.
“Yeah, I told you I was quick,” he smiled back.
“Wow, so you saved me Inuyasha. How could you possibly blame yourself, when you save my life? If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be here,” she squeezed his hand with the little strength she had.
“Keh,” Inuyasha answered as he blushed a little.
“Wait, where are Sango and Miroku? Are they ok? And my mom, does she know what happened? She’s probably worried sick,” Kagome asked frantically.
“Don’t worry everyone else is fine and they were all here but Miroku took them to change clothes and eat. We have been here all night,” Inuyasha answered her, calming her by rubbing her arm.
“What about you Inuyasha? Don’t you need to eat and change clothes too? And you’re probably exhausted,” she stated with concern for him again, even though she was the one in the hospital bed.
“I’m ok. Miroku said he would bring me a change of clothes and something to eat, and I don’t need to rest yet. Besides, I told them I wasn’t leaving.”
“You wanted to stay with me? ,” Kagome asked, her smile getting even bigger.
“Of course I did. You’re my girlfriend now, remember? ,” he said as he leaned over to place a soft peck on her forehead. “Now, get some rest. Everybody will be back soon,” he insisted as he made sure she was as comfortable, brushing her hair back.
She smiled at him as he lulled her back to sleep, slowly closing her eyes. ‘I love you Inuyasha’, she thought as she drifted off.

About 15 minutes later as Inuyasha was coming out of the bathroom, he noticed someone sitting in his chair, dressed in a charcoal-gray Armani suit with a lavender shirt and tie. His hair was tied back into a neat ponytail. There was a balloon bouquet and a beautiful floral arrangement sitting on the night stand next to Kagome’s bed.
“Inuyasha, I see that your ok. Kagome is really beautiful. It’s a shame that the first time I actually get to see her is under these circumstance. I’m only use to speaking to her over the phone, since you never bothered inviting her to our home,” Sesshomaru looked away from Kagome to look at Inuyasha.
“Sesshomaru, what are you doing here? ,” Inuyasha asked confused.
“Little brother, is that anyway to greet a visitor. I was simply checking to see if you and Kagome were ok. Miroku called gave me all the details of what happened last night. I tried to warn you about Kikyo. I knew she wasn’t right for you,” Sesshomaru answered plainly.
“Yeah, well I don’t even wanna talk about her right now. My focus is on Kagome right now,” he said looking over at her, as he approached the other side of the bed and pulled up a chair.
Sesshomaru had seen that look in Inuyasha’s eyes before. It was always there when he talked to or about Kagome. “You love her, don’t you? ,” Sesshomaru asked.
“Why does it matter to you? ,” Inuyasha answered with a question.
“It doesn’t, really. I just notice that you act differently ever since you met Kagome. In a way that you never did with Kikyo. Not to mention how you walk around the estate in a daze, that is, when you actually grace us with your presence there. Or how you are so anxious when I tell you she’s on the phone for you. You’re not a complete baka anymore and I haven’t had to pry you from your bed after a night of drinking and partying . . . all hung over, in quite sometime,” Sesshomaru replied.
“Well, not that it’s any of your business, but yes . . . I do love her,” he answered Sesshomaru’s previous question, not really knowing why he did. I guess he had been wanting to tell someone and since his brother asked he told him how he really felt.
“Well at least you’ve done one thing right for once in your life. If she can change your attitude and actually make you more civil, then she must be quite an amazing young woman,” Sesshomaru said as he got up to stand.
“Whatever, fluffy,” Inuyasha smirked at his brother. He knew how Sesshomaru hated to be called that name.
“I really wish you would refrain from calling me that Inuyasha. I see Kagome still has her work cut out for her. But I’m sure she’ll do her best. Let her know that I said hello, I wish her well and I hope she likes the balloons and flowers. I have a meeting in 20 minutes, so I have to be leaving,” Sesshomaru said as he approached the door to leave.
“Sesshomaru,” Inuyasha called out to his brother, from his seat next to Kagome’s bed.
Sesshomaru slowly turned around to look at his brother.
“Thank you for checking on us,” Inuyasha said with a smile.
“Not a problem, little brother,” Sesshomaru smiled back, which he rarely did anymore. He was always so serious most of the time. Then he left to go to his meeting.
Inuyasha laid his head down on the bed as he held Kagome’s hand and slowly drifted off to sleep.
________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________
Two hours later, Mrs. Hiragashi, Miroku, and Sango walked in to see Kagome wide awake, watching a sleeping Inuyasha, her hand on his head fingering his hair. He had his head resting on his arms on the edge of the bed, still sitting in the chair. Kagome finally notices them standing in the doorway and put a finger to her lips, motioning for them to speak quietly.
“Kagome, you’re up,” Mrs. Hiragashi whispered, with a huge smile on her face.
“Yeah, I just got up about 10 minutes ago, but I didn’t want to wake Inuyasha,” she whispered back to her mom with a smile.
“Kagome, who brought you the flowers and balloons? ,” Sango asked quietly as she pointed to them.
“I don’t really know, I was asleep,” Kagome said softly.
Inuyasha heard the whispering and opened his eyes slowly to see Kagome awake and looking at him. “Oi, little girl, didn’t I tell you to get some rest? I knew I shouldn’t have fallen asleep,” Inuyasha yawned then smiled at Kagome.
“Didn’t I tell you to stop calling me little girl? I was asleep for your information. I just woke up a little about 12 minutes ago, and then mom, Sango, and Miroku showed up,” she smiled and giggled at the surprised look on Inuyasha’s face.
He hadn’t even realized that anyone else was listening, or even in the room for that matter. He slowly turned around to see the three of them, smiling at him. He quickly straightened up and sat with his back to the chair. Mrs. Hiragashi and Sango giggled at his actions.
“Inuyasha, I brought you a change of clothes. Maybe you should get changed,” Miroku suggested, trying to change the current situation.
“Yeah, your probably right,” Inuyasha got up and quickly and grabbed the bag, rushing to the bathroom. He was gonna have to thank Miroku later for defusing what the women would have turned into a giggling fit.
“So Kags, how are you feeling? ,” Sango walked up to the side of the bed.
“I’m ok, I guess. Just sore . . . and a bit drowsy,” Kagome said with a yawn.
“That’s probably the side effect of the medication they are giving you for the pain. I think they put it in your IV,” Mrs. Hiragashi stated.
“Maybe you should go back to sleep Kagome,” Miroku suggested.
“No, I’m fine for now. I’ll stay up for a little while,” Kagome smiled.
They were all sitting and talking among themselves when Inuyasha finally emerged out of the bathroom 30 minutes later. He was thankful that her bathroom had a shower. He was all cleaned up with a red T-shirt on and a pair of jeans with his hair pulled back in a damp ponytail.
“So are you feeling better? ,” Kagome giggled at Inuyasha.
“Keh, I told you I was fine. I just needed to get out of those clothes,” he huffed and crossed his arms.
“Oh, don’t be like that I was only asking because you were ssh . . . I mean you had a rough night, just like everyone else,” Kagome said catching what she was about to say, but Sango caught on. Mrs. Hiragashi didn’t know that Inuyasha had been shot, but Sango did.
“Inuyasha, do you know who brought the balloons and flowers? ,” Kagome changed that subject, hoping to throw Sango off.
“Yeah, Sesshomaru brought them here. But he couldn’t stay because he had a business meeting to attend.”
“Wow, he came to the hospital and I didn’t get a chance to meet him in person,” Kagome said disappointedly.
“You’ll get a chance to meet him, I promise. I don’t know what the big deal is though. He’s just a stuffy, stick in the mud,” Inuyasha replied.
“Yeah, well when I first met you I had you pegged as something else, but you’re not so bad after all,” she giggled.
“Hey,” he said pretending to be hurt by her word.
“I’ll be right back Kagome. I want to get some coffee from the cafeteria,” Mrs. Hiragashi got up to head out the door.
Once Mrs. Hiragashi was gone Sango found this the perfect opportunity to find out how Inuyasha healed overnight, not to mention how he got Kagome to the hospital so fast without a vehicle.
“So . . . is someone gonna start explaining things to me or do we have to play 20 questions first? ,” Sango said sarcastically.
Miroku and Kagome looked at Inuyasha, who just rolled his eyes and sighed. It was ultimately his decision whether he want her to know or not, but it only seemed right that she knew, being the only one in the group who didn’t know.
“Sango, maybe you should sit down . . . ,” Inuyasha said as he sat next to her in a chair and explained as much as he could before Mrs. Hiragashi came back. He even took off his concealment beads for a minute to show her what he really looked like. And to everyone’s surprise, she took the news rather well.
“So . . . that’s how you got here so quick and why you healed from that gunshot wound,” Sango said still amazed at the whole situation.
“Yeah, but remember you can’t tell anybody Sango. We are the only ones who know,” Kagome reminded her.
“Well actually there are two others who know,” Inuyasha corrected Kagome. “Shippo and Kouga know about me. I figured you should know so that you would feel comfortable talking around them. Those are the only other people who know other than my family and Miroku’s family,” he said matter-of-factly.
About 10 seconds later Mrs. Hiragashi walked through the door with her coffee. At least now Sango was in the loop about Inuyasha’s little secret. They sat and kept Kagome company for a few more hours until the doctor came in.
“Sorry to break up the party guy, but visiting hours were over about 30 minutes ago and my patient needs her rest,” the doctor stated to the group.
Everyone said their good nights, but not Inuyasha. He stayed in the chair next to Kagome’s bed.
“Inuyasha, it’s time to go now,” Sango waved him over to the door.
“I told you already, I . . . ain’t . . . leaving,” he put emphasis on the last three words.
“But Inuyasha, visiting hours are over and you can’t possibly be comfortable in a chair all night,” Mrs. Hiragashi tried to reason with him.
“I guess I won’t sleep then, cause I’m not budging,” he said folding his arms in front of him.
“Momma, don’t make him leave. I want him to stay. Tell them to let him stay,” Kagome spoke up, pleading for Inuyasha to stay.
“I would feel better if someone stayed with you. I can’t because I have to check on Souta. I’ll see what I can do,” Mrs. Hiragashi smiled at Kagome.
_______________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________
Mrs. Hiragashi made arrangements for Inuyasha to stay with Kagome. Once everyone else was gone, Inuyasha set up two chairs right next to Kagome’s bed. The nurse brought him a pillow and blanket so he could at least be a bit more comfortable. Kagome had drifted back to sleep by now. Before he got comfortable in his make shift bed, he leaned over Kagome to kiss her chastely on the lips. Kagome responded by parting her lips and sweeping her tongue across his lips. Her actions startled Inuyasha. He pulled back slightly to look into her eyes.
“I thought you were sleep,” he said softly.
“So you thought you would steal a kiss, did you? ,” she smiled and giggled.
“No, I was only trying to kiss you goodnight,” he defended himself.
“Oh, I see,” she replied playfully pretending not to believe him.
“Really, I wasn’t trying to wake you. You need to get some rest,” he said as he gave her a soft peck on the lips and smiled.
She smiled back at him and closed her eyes and slowly drifted back to sleep. Inuyasha got as comfortable as possible in the chairs and positioned the pillow behind his head. He pulled the blanket over himself and watched Kagome sleep for a while. ‘I truly do love you Kagome . . . with all I have inside me, I love you,’ he thought before eventually drifting into his own slumber.

A/N: Hope u guys liked the chapter. Please leave a review. Thanks^_^ Sorry if there are mistakes. I wanted to get it out as soon as possible for my readers, so I may have rushed a little. And I make corrections myself so that’s extra work for me, but I don’t mind because I end up changing things around until I like them anyway.
