Chapter 14
Kagome slowly opened her eyes to the feel of something warm next to her. She tilted her head to get a better look and realized it was Inuyasha. It was obvious that during sometime last night he had climbed into the bed with her and was cuddled up on the side of her, slightly hanging off of the small hospital bed. Kagome giggled to herself as she slowly lifted her hand to his head and started to play in his hair. His hair was still in the ponytail from yesterday but not quite as neat as when he first put it up. She gently brushed the unruly hairs down with her hand as he slowly began to stir. Inuyasha yawned and looked up at Kagome. She smiled and he smiled back then scanned down and realized she was wearing a hospital gown. It then dawned on Inuyasha that he was still in the hospital and had to be in the hospital bed with Kagome.
“Oh, Kagome. Am I hurting you? I really didn’t mean to climb in the bed with you. I think I may have done it when I came back from the bathroom last night,” Inuyasha said slowly getting out of the bed, not wanting to cause Kagome any additional discomfort.
“It’s ok. You weren’t hurting me. I actually slept very well and I am feeling much better. I’m still a very sore, but other than that I’m feeling ok,” Kagome smiled at Inuyasha as he sat back down in the chair next to her bed.
“Ah, Ms. Hiragashi. How are you feeling today? ,” the doctor came in to check on Kagome.
“I’m actually feeling ok doc,” she smiled. “I was feeling kind of weak yesterday . . . like I couldn’t move anything, but now I am feeling up to getting out of bed and taking a shower,” Kagome was hoping to get freshened up. She wasn’t as clean as she would like.
“Well that’s good to hear. You actually won’t be able to take a shower until the wounds heal up a bit more, but I can have the nurse give you a sponge bath,” the doctor suggested.
“I kinda wanna wash up in the bathroom if you don’t mind,” she blushed at the thought of some nurse washing her up in her bed.
“I guess that won’t be a problem as long as you don’t submerge the wounds. You can use the removable shower head I suppose, but you are gonna need someone to help you wash up to make sure you don’t get your wounds wet. The nurse will clean the wounds when she changes your bandages,” the doctor said as he walked over to her bed.
“I’m gonna need to take a look at you. Then you can get up and wash up when someone comes to help you,” the doctor commented. “I’m gonna have to ask you to leave a second,” he addressed Inuyasha.
Inuyasha just looked up at the doctor, not making a move at all. It was obvious that he wasn’t going to leave quietly. But lucky for him, Kagome didn’t want him to leave.
“It ok. Inuyasha can stay. I want him to stay. I need him here,” Kagome said as she looked at Inuyasha and smiled.
“Ok, Ms. Hiragashi. If you’re comfortable with him staying, then I guess he’ll stay,” the doctor replied as he began to examine her wounds.
Kagome figured Inuyasha was her boyfriend now and he had already seen her practically naked so it would hurt to let him stay. Besides, she really didn’t think she could get him to leave now. After the doctor checked her out, he gave her an update.
“Well your doing extremely well under the circumstances. Your vitals are all good and your wounds were stitched up good and are beginning to heal. You’ll just have to stay long enough for the wounds to heal up a bit more. Other than that and probably pain and soreness everything is looking good,” the doctor smiled. “I’ll be back to check on you later Ms. Hiragashi,” the doctor said as he left the room.
After the doctor left Kagome eased up slowly to attempt to sit up in the bed.
“Kagome . . . what are you doing? ,” Inuyasha quickly came to her side to help her sit up.
“I am planning on getting out of this bed and getting washed up. I feel so dirty,” she said continuing to get out of bed with Inuyasha’s assistance.
“Um . . . but it thought the doctor said you would need help in the bathroom? Don’t you wanna wait so Sango or your mom to come and help you? The doctor said you can’t get those bandages wet,” Inuyasha explained hoping she wasn’t planning on trying to wash up on her own.
“I don’t have time to wait for them. Visiting hours don’t start for another hour and I want to get clean now so I can change out of this stupid hospital gown and into my own gown,” she replied looking at her bag that her mom brought to the hospital and then back at Inuyasha.
Inuyasha looked at her confused.
“Don’t tell me you are gonna try and wash up all by yourself,” he frowned up a bit at the idea.
“No, I am not going to wash up all by myself. You’re going to help me,” she said slightly blushing.
“You want ‘me’ to help you wash up. You sure you don’t wanna wait for your mom or Sango to help you? ,” Inuyasha said nervously. Not only was he worried about her being nude in front of him, but he was also worried that she was still weak and he wouldn’t be gentle enough to help her.
“I’m sure Inuyasha. I want you to help me. You’ll do just fine. I totally trust you,” she smiled at him and lifted to her feet to walk to the bathroom.
Inuyasha didn’t argue. He just helped her to the bathroom and sat her down in the safety chair in the tub. It was for washing up without sitting directly in the water for patients that couldn’t stand up in the shower. Slowly Kagome removed her hospital gown, which was all she was currently wearing. She couldn’t help but to blush at the thought of Inuyasha seeing her nude form, but she couldn’t go on another minute without washing up. Besides Inuyasha was her boyfriend and she totally trusted him. Inuyasha tried not to stare at her naked form. Even with the wounds and bandages, Inuyasha found her body very beautiful. He could feel his member twitch at the thought of exploring her body inch by inch. Suddenly he was very thankful that it wasn’t Kagome with the hanyou senses.
Kagome ran the water and began to lather up her towel to give to Inuyasha.
“Inuyasha, my arm is still sore from the wound in my shoulder. I’m gonna need a lot of help washing up. Could you start with my back? ,” Kagome asked a little shyly and blushed.
Inuyasha swallowed hard and began to wash her back. His hand accidentally rubbed against her warm soapy skin. ‘Kami she’s soft. I don’t know if I can keep helping her. Of course I can. I have self control. But she’s so beautiful . . . and soft . . . and she’s mine,’ Inuyasha thought as he continued to wash her back.
Kagome moved her arm slightly to allow Inuyasha to move around to the front of her. He was very hesitant, but Kagome’s actions were telling him it was ok to proceed. Slowly he began to wash the front of her cleaning her neck and chest moving down to her stomach avoiding her breast.
“Inuyasha . . . It’s ok. You can finish. I need you to help me and you missed a spot,” Kagome said blushing even more as she looked away.
“Um . . . are you sure? ,” Inuyasha asked, increasingly nervous.
“Yes I’m sure. I will do the rest myself, but I will need you to rinse ok? ,” she replied.
Inuyasha reached around very slowly in front of Kagome to wash her breast with the towel. Inuyasha and Kagome were now wearing matching blushes but couldn’t see each others face in their current position. Kagome tried to remember that Inuyasha was only helping her, but the feel of his caress, even through a towel caused a spike in her arousal. Inuyasha immediately picked up on the scent and was equally aroused at the thought. Kagome turned around in the chair to look at Inuyasha. Inuyasha stared into her big brown eyes and moved in closer until their faces were so close they could feel each others warmth. The space between them closed and they were drawn into a soft, slow, passionate kiss. Their tongues gently caressing in each others mouth.
Inuyasha’s hands wondered all over Kagome’s naked body, caressing her breasts, until he reached one of the bandaged areas on Kagome’s body and he snapped back to reality. ‘What are we doing? What am “I” doing? Kagome is in the hospital recovering from nearly dying and I am trying to do way too much too fast. I gotta stop this right now,’ Inuyasha thought to himself as he broke the kiss and gave Kagome back the towel.
“I think we better stop now. We are in the hospital bathroom of all places. You were badly hurt and you are still recovering. Besides, you need to finish washing up so I can rinse you off. Visiting hours start soon and your mom will be the first person here I’m sure,” Inuyasha said with a smile as his mind told him this was the right thing to do but his body was telling him other things as he tried to adjust the painful tent in his pants.
Kagome didn’t want to stop but she knew that Inuyasha had the right idea. Her mom would be here soon, and knowing her mom, maybe even early. With that thought she smiled and finished washing herself up the best she could. Then Inuyasha rinsed the soap off and handed her a towel to help her dry off.
“Thank you Inuyasha,” Kagome said as she smiled brightly at him.
“For what? Helping my girlfriend when she needs me. I will always be here for you,” Inuyasha smiled back at her as they finished drying her off to put her lotion and robe on.
Just before they were finished, Mrs. Hiragashi had entered the room but didn’t see any signs of Kagome or Inuyasha.
“Kagome sweetheart, are you in the bathroom? ,” Mrs. Hiragashi called out assuming that could be the only place she would be.
Kagome and Inuyasha looked at each other wide-eyed. This was going to be totally embarrassing. Inuyasha helped Kagome up to her feet, fully clothed by now, and helped her out the bathroom to her bed. Mrs. Hiragashi was indeed surprised to see Inuyasha walk out of the bathroom with Kagome. But after she had thought about it, she figured she would expect nothing less from the young man who was obviously in love with her daughter. He cared for Kagome so much. He even refused to leave the hospital after all.
“Sorry mom. I couldn’t wait any longer to get washed up. And the doctor insisted that I get someone to help . . . ,” Kagome began to explain before being cut off by her mother.
“It’s fine dear. You don’t have to explain anything to me. I know that you’ll need help with things and I’m glad that Inuyasha was here to help you,” she smiled at Kagome warmly then looked at Inuyasha a smiled at him as well.
“Oh and I have someone here who has been dying to see you,” Mrs. Hiragashi looked toward the door and called out “It’s ok sweetie, you can come in now.”
The shadow of a short figure walked in the door way.
“Kagome!! Inuyasha!!,” Souta shouted in excitement as he ran through the door and toward Kagome to hug her, but was intercepted by Inuyasha instead. Inuyasha leaned down to his level and whispered in his ear.
“Heya squirt. Kagome may not be quite ready for such a big hug yet. So be gentle when you hug her ok,” Inuyasha said with a wink and a smile.
Souta smiled back at his idol and walked up to Kagome slowly and wrapped his arms around her gently, barely squeezing her.
“How’s it going runt? ,” Kagome giggled and ruffled his hair.
“Hey be nice Kagome. You had me so worried. Mom wouldn’t let me come to see you. So I figured it must have been pretty bad. Does it hurt? Hey do you have scars? ,” Souta said excitedly, forgetting he was just sad a second ago.
“Yes, I have wounds. But they are bandaged up so there will be no peeking,” she looked down at Souta and laughed at his reaction. That was her brother . . . one minute he was like a grown up the next he was just a little kid.
“That’s ok. I’ll wait til they heal up then you’ll have some really cool scars,” he smiled at her. “You really did scare me though. I’m so glad you’re gonna be ok,” he laid his head on her chest and held her again.
“Oh Souta, it’s ok now. Everything is gonna be fine now,” she wrapped her arms around him to gently hug him back.
“Ok you guys. I think Kagome should be getting back in the bed now,” Mrs. Hiragashi interrupted.
“I agree. You have been out of the bed for a while and you probably need to get some rest before Sango and Miroku show up,” Inuyasha added.
Inuyasha helped Kagome to the bed and tucked her under the covers. He sat down in the chair next to her, with Souta and Mrs. Hiragashi to keep them company.
After about an hour of conversation and catching up with what was going on with Souta while she was in the hospital, she fell asleep.

Kagome woke up to the sounds of people having a conversation in her room. Once her eyes finally focused, she noticed that her mom and Souta weren’t there but now Miroku and Sango had arrived. And to her surprise two other special visitors showed up as well.
“Kagome, you’re finally up. We weren’t too loud, were we? We tried to be quiet as possible so you could get your rest,” Sango greeted her best friend.
“No. You didn’t wake me,” Kagome smiled at Sango and looked over at the boys watching something on the tv.
Finally a commercial came on and the boys too noticed that Kagome was awake.
“Kagome!! I’m so glad that your ok,” Shippo said excitedly, rushing over to her bedside.
“Hey Shippo. It’s so good to see you. Thank you for coming to see me. It really means a lot to know I still have some really good friends,” she said remembering how her and Kikyo used to be best friends, and feeling a little sad about how things turned out.
“Of course we would come and see you and I’ve even brought you something,” Kouga interrupted holding a single red rose in his hand, offering it to Kagome.
“Hey, where were you hiding that? ,” Inuyasha frowned at the thought that Kouga had given Kagome, his girl, a flower.
“Inuyasha be nice. Kouga was just being the sweet guy he is. How is Ayame doing? ,” Kagome addressed Kouga.
“Oh, she’s fine. She wanted to come but she had to go out of town. She said once she got back she would come to see as well. I must say that you are looking quite beautiful, even under these circumstances,” Kouga grabbed her hand and kissed it.
Kagome just giggled in return. Which made Inuyasha frown and fold his arms while giving Kouga an intimidating look. He walked over to Kagome’s bedside and kissed her on the forehead.
“I’m going to get something to drink. Did you want anything Kagome? ,” he was still giving Kouga that same look. You would never know they had been friends for years.
“No thank you Inuyasha. I’m fine, but thank for asking. That was really sweet,” she smiled at him and pulled him down for a chaste kiss. She knew he needed that little ego boost in front of Kouga.
Inuyasha left everyone to their conversations and headed down the hall to the cafeteria. Before he could even get to where he was headed, he noticed a face that he wished he would never see again.
“What the hell are you doing here? ,” he said in almost a growl.
“I didn’t come to cause any trouble. I just wanted to apologize to Kagome and let you guys know what going on with Kikyo,” Hojo said nervously.
“I could care less what’s going on with Kikyo and as for you . . . you sure got some nerve showing your face after what you’ve done to Kagome. But don’t worry, she’s over that now. Moved onto bigger and better things,” Inuyasha said with a cocky smirk.
“I’m sure she has and I’m happy for her. But regardless of how I was wrong, I know Kagome and she will want to know what’s going on with Kikyo. Kikyo is worse off than you guys think,” Hojo lowered his head and looked down to the ground.
For some reason, Inuyasha felt like maybe he should let Hojo speak his peace. Inuyasha sighed and motioned for Hojo to follow him to Kagome’s room. When they reached the doorway the group inside fell into awkward silence.
“Hojo, what are you doing here? ,” Kagome looked at him and frowned then looked at Inuyasha with a confused look. She couldn’t figure out why Inuyasha even let him get this far.
“I know, I know. I wasn’t gonna even let him pass me when I say him, but he says that he wants to give you an apology and claims you will want to know what the authorities did with Kikyo,” Inuyasha gave Hojo that look he gave Kouga earlier and crossed his arms.
Kagome was silent for a minute, with a blank expression across her face. Everyone was wondering what she was thinking, what she was going to say. Finally she broke her silence and spoke.
“Ok. I will talk to Hojo. But I think I need to speak with him alone,” Kagome sat up in the bed.
“Ok, Kagome. I think it’s time me and Shippo get going anyway. We have a lot of errands to run today. But we will be back to visit you tomorrow, ok ,” Kouga said with a smile as he got up from the chair and motioned to Shippo that they were leaving.
“Yeah Kagome, we’ll be back to see you. I’m so glad that you’re ok,” Shippo reached over and gave her a hug.
“Thank you, Shippo . . . Kouga. I’m so happy you guys came to see me. I will see you tomorrow then,” she smiled back and waved to them as they walked out the room.
Miroku looked at Sango and got up from his chair.
“Come on my koi, I think I want to get something from the cafeteria,” Miroku said reaching out for Sango’s hand.
She hesitated a second, not really wanting to leave Kagome alone with Hojo but gave in and got up to take Miroku’s hand to leave.
Once they were gone, Kagome looked over at Inuyasha.
“Come on Kagome. You don’t really expect me to leave you alone with him do you,” Inuyasha half whined his statement to Kagome.
Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and motioned for him to come over closer to her. She pulled his ear to her mouth and whispered in it.
“It’s fine Inuyasha. I’ll be ok. I’m ok with everything that’s happened, now that I have you,” she moved away from his ear to look into his eyes and closed in to kiss him passionately. She knew that would satisfy his ego and let him know that she was all for him. She broke the kiss and gave him one last peck on the lips.
“Ok fine, but ‘Hobo’s’ got ten minutes and then I’m coming back in. Guess I’ll go find Sango and Miroku in the cafeteria,” he sighed and gave Hojo the look again before he left the room.
Kagome looked at Hojo and motioned for him to sit down in one of the chairs next to her bed.
Hojo took a deep breath and began to speak.
“Kagome, I truly am sorry for hurting you the way I did. The truth is I never deserved a girl like you. You are amazing person and I’m glad that you have finally found what you deserve and need. Someone to love you unconditionally. I saw the look on Inuyasha face when you were hurt. And the way he responded to the whole incident. It was almost like he had been in your place . . . like he could feel what you felt. I could have sworn I saw tears in his eyes. I’ve never seen such a display of feeling for someone before. Please accept my apology and know that I hope one day we can be friends again. You truly are a special person,” Hojo looked at Kagome with a sorrowful expression.
“Hojo, to be honest, I have forgiven you already. Once I realized I was in love with Inuyasha, I felt guilt for getting so upset about you and Kikyo. The fact was that I wasn’t in love with you. I thought I was. But what I feel now with Inuyasha, I’ve never felt before. I’m truly happy with him.”
“And that’s all I want for you . . . for you to be happy. And I’m glad you found somebody who truly does make you happy. You deserve that.” Hojo smiled at Kagome and then looked to the floor and his expression quickly changed. “Do you want an update on Kikyo?”, Hojo asked hesitantly.
“Sure, go ahead,” Kagome motioned for him to continue.
Hojo let out a huge sigh.
“Well they didn’t put her in jail like I thought she was definitely headed. Not that it would have mattered, with all her parents’ money and influence she would have been right back out anyway. The thing is they are saying that she is mentally unstable and the cause of that is a brain tumor. They want to do surgery on her this week to remove it. I went to see her but she was out of it. I think it’s the medication they had her on. She didn’t even speak to me.”
“Wow. That’s terrible. I wonder if that has anything to do with how her attitude changed completely from when we were friends,” Kagome looked at Hojo with a puzzled look.
“Well, I guess I never thought about that. You could be right. That could mean she was never as bad as she seemed. But that doesn’t excuse my actions,” Hojo lowered his head again.
“Don’t worry Hojo. I told you it’s ok now.”
Just then Inuyasha came back from the cafeteria. He was trying to be patient but he couldn’t take it anymore.
“So . . . Hojo it was nice seeing you. Sorry you have to go now,” Inuyasha said sarcastically.
“Inuyasha, you don’t have to be so rude. Hojo was just here to apologize and update me on Kikyo,” Kagome got out before being interrupted by Inuyasha.
“You do realize this is the same guy who . . . never mind. Besides, who cares about what happens to Kikyo anyway,” Inuyasha frowned.
“Well after I tell you what happened to her, you may change your mind,” Kagome said with a blank expression.
“I seriously doubt it. She almost killed you Kagome. How can I forgive that? ,” Inuyasha replied.
“What if it wasn’t entirely her fault? ,” Kagome asked him.
Inuyasha just stood there with a confused look.
“Inuyasha, Hojo just explained to me that Kikyo is in a hospital and the doctor’s say that her behavior is caused by a brain tumor. They are going to do surgery this week to remove it.”
Inuyasha’s was a little concerned now. Sure he hated Kikyo for what she did to Kagome, but now her actions were not all her own. And it made him wonder about all of the other things she’s done. Deep down inside he still cared for Kikyo and the thought of her situation did concern him a little. He didn’t say a word, just an expression on his face that was unreadable. Kagome looked at Inuyasha then at Hojo.
“Well, I guess I should be going now. You take good care of her Inuyasha,” Hojo said trying to get any response from Inuyasha.
Inuyasha snapped out of his daze and addressed Hojo.
“Keh, like I wouldn’t,” he said in a smart tone. “You just take care of Kikyo.”
Hojo nodded and turned to leave the room.

After Hojo left Kagome couldn’t help but notice how Inuyasha’s demeanor had changed. He had barely said three words since Hojo left. And he looked like he was in deep thought sitting next to the bed watching the tv.
‘I sure hope he’s ok. I didn’t expect him to react to the news this way. Maybe he still loves Kikyo more than he lets on,’ Kagome thought a little worried about Inuyasha. She reached over and put her hand on top of his. In return, he put his other hand on top of her hand and slowly rubbed it finally looking at her.
“You ok Kagome?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Are you ok, Inuyasha?”
“Yeah. Of course I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be? ,” he said with a hint of nervousness.
“I don’t know. You seemed out of it,” Kagome replied with a pout on her face.
“You’re so cute, you know that,” Inuyasha smiled and cupped her face in his hands, staring into her eyes.
She smiled staring right back before they both moved in closer to each other until their lips met. They kissed chastely right as they heard someone, coughing at the door. Sango and Miroku were back from the cafeteria and had caught the two love birds in their display of affection. Sango blushed as she walked in and Miroku had a dumb grin on his face.
“I think you guys better pace yourself with Kagome’s condition and all. I mean if you want me and Sango can go back to the cafeteria,” Miroku smirked.
“You’re such a hentai Miroku,” Sango popped him in the back of the head.
“Ow! ,” Miroku rubbed the back of his head and pouted.
Kagome giggled and Inuyasha just sighed.
“Well I guess we better update them on the Kikyo situation,” Kagome looked at Inuyasha.
Inuyasha silently nodded indicating for her to go on. After she explained everything to Sango and Miroku, they gave their reply.
“Well I guess that would explain a lot of things that have happened,” Miroku said.
“Yeah, why she’s nothing like the Kikyo me and Kagome have known,” Sango added.
“Well hopefully now she gets the help she needs and will be ok,” Kagome genuinely hoped that Kikyo would be ok.
Inuyasha again was silent. Miroku noticed this and quickly changed the subject.
“Hey, isn’t ‘All My Children’ on now? ,” Miroku said flipping the channels with the remote.
“You watch that stuff? ,” Inuyasha was amazed that Miroku actually admitted something like that.
“Yeah. With all those hot soap opera chick, why wouldn’t I? ,” Miroku smirked but saw the look on Sango’s face and quickly loss the smirk.
“Miroku you are such a baka,” Sango gave him ‘the look’.
“Yes, but I’m your baka my sweet koi,” he smiled and wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into his lap.
The group sat and watched tv as Inuyasha’s thoughts began to wonder again. ‘Kikyo . . . did you really love me after all. I should have been there for you, if only I would have known. I hope you’ll be ok,’ he thought as he continued to sit with his friends.
A/N: This chapter was originally not supposed to be in this story and is part of the reason why the update took so long, that and life has caught up with me. But fear not Chapter 15 is already underway and should be longer and better. I had to give you guys the update on Kikyo and the story line has changed a little so that’s what chapter 14 was for. Chapter 15 will skip ahead a little bit but it’s needed to continue with the story. And good news, though the story is coming to an end soon, there is already a continuation in the making and it will include new characters and more development of characters who may not have had a lot of face time in this part of the story. Chapter 14
Kagome slowly opened her eyes to the feel of something warm next to her. She tilted her head to get a better look and realized it was Inuyasha. It was obvious that during sometime last night he had climbed into the bed with her and was cuddled up on the side of her, slightly hanging off of the small hospital bed. Kagome giggled to herself as she slowly lifted her hand to his head and started to play in his hair. His hair was still in the ponytail from yesterday but not quite as neat as when he first put it up. She gently brushed the unruly hairs down with her hand as he slowly began to stir. Inuyasha yawned and looked up at Kagome. She smiled and he smiled back then scanned down and realized she was wearing a hospital gown. It then dawned on Inuyasha that he was still in the hospital and had to be in the hospital bed with Kagome.
“Oh, Kagome. Am I hurting you? I really didn’t mean to climb in the bed with you. I think I may have done it when I came back from the bathroom last night,” Inuyasha said slowly getting out of the bed, not wanting to cause Kagome any additional discomfort.
“It’s ok. You weren’t hurting me. I actually slept very well and I am feeling much better. I’m still a very sore, but other than that I’m feeling ok,” Kagome smiled at Inuyasha as he sat back down in the chair next to her bed.
“Ah, Ms. Hiragashi. How are you feeling today? ,” the doctor came in to check on Kagome.
“I’m actually feeling ok doc,” she smiled. “I was feeling kind of weak yesterday . . . like I couldn’t move anything, but now I am feeling up to getting out of bed and taking a shower,” Kagome was hoping to get freshened up. She wasn’t as clean as she would like.
“Well that’s good to hear. You actually won’t be able to take a shower until the wounds heal up a bit more, but I can have the nurse give you a sponge bath,” the doctor suggested.
“I kinda wanna wash up in the bathroom if you don’t mind,” she blushed at the thought of some nurse washing her up in her bed.
“I guess that won’t be a problem as long as you don’t submerge the wounds. You can use the removable shower head I suppose, but you are gonna need someone to help you wash up to make sure you don’t get your wounds wet. The nurse will clean the wounds when she changes your bandages,” the doctor said as he walked over to her bed.
“I’m gonna need to take a look at you. Then you can get up and wash up when someone comes to help you,” the doctor commented. “I’m gonna have to ask you to leave a second,” he addressed Inuyasha.
Inuyasha just looked up at the doctor, not making a move at all. It was obvious that he wasn’t going to leave quietly. But lucky for him, Kagome didn’t want him to leave.
“It ok. Inuyasha can stay. I want him to stay. I need him here,” Kagome said as she looked at Inuyasha and smiled.
“Ok, Ms. Hiragashi. If you’re comfortable with him staying, then I guess he’ll stay,” the doctor replied as he began to examine her wounds.
Kagome figured Inuyasha was her boyfriend now and he had already seen her practically naked so it would hurt to let him stay. Besides, she really didn’t think she could get him to leave now. After the doctor checked her out, he gave her an update.
“Well your doing extremely well under the circumstances. Your vitals are all good and your wounds were stitched up good and are beginning to heal. You’ll just have to stay long enough for the wounds to heal up a bit more. Other than that and probably pain and soreness everything is looking good,” the doctor smiled. “I’ll be back to check on you later Ms. Hiragashi,” the doctor said as he left the room.
After the doctor left Kagome eased up slowly to attempt to sit up in the bed.
“Kagome . . . what are you doing? ,” Inuyasha quickly came to her side to help her sit up.
“I am planning on getting out of this bed and getting washed up. I feel so dirty,” she said continuing to get out of bed with Inuyasha’s assistance.
“Um . . . but it thought the doctor said you would need help in the bathroom? Don’t you wanna wait so Sango or your mom to come and help you? The doctor said you can’t get those bandages wet,” Inuyasha explained hoping she wasn’t planning on trying to wash up on her own.
“I don’t have time to wait for them. Visiting hours don’t start for another hour and I want to get clean now so I can change out of this stupid hospital gown and into my own gown,” she replied looking at her bag that her mom brought to the hospital and then back at Inuyasha.
Inuyasha looked at her confused.
“Don’t tell me you are gonna try and wash up all by yourself,” he frowned up a bit at the idea.
“No, I am not going to wash up all by myself. You’re going to help me,” she said slightly blushing.
“You want ‘me’ to help you wash up. You sure you don’t wanna wait for your mom or Sango to help you? ,” Inuyasha said nervously. Not only was he worried about her being nude in front of him, but he was also worried that she was still weak and he wouldn’t be gentle enough to help her.
“I’m sure Inuyasha. I want you to help me. You’ll do just fine. I totally trust you,” she smiled at him and lifted to her feet to walk to the bathroom.
Inuyasha didn’t argue. He just helped her to the bathroom and sat her down in the safety chair in the tub. It was for washing up without sitting directly in the water for patients that couldn’t stand up in the shower. Slowly Kagome removed her hospital gown, which was all she was currently wearing. She couldn’t help but to blush at the thought of Inuyasha seeing her nude form, but she couldn’t go on another minute without washing up. Besides Inuyasha was her boyfriend and she totally trusted him. Inuyasha tried not to stare at her naked form. Even with the wounds and bandages, Inuyasha found her body very beautiful. He could feel his member twitch at the thought of exploring her body inch by inch. Suddenly he was very thankful that it wasn’t Kagome with the hanyou senses.
Kagome ran the water and began to lather up her towel to give to Inuyasha.
“Inuyasha, my arm is still sore from the wound in my shoulder. I’m gonna need a lot of help washing up. Could you start with my back? ,” Kagome asked a little shyly and blushed.
Inuyasha swallowed hard and began to wash her back. His hand accidentally rubbed against her warm soapy skin. ‘Kami she’s soft. I don’t know if I can keep helping her. Of course I can. I have self control. But she’s so beautiful . . . and soft . . . and she’s mine,’ Inuyasha thought as he continued to wash her back.
Kagome moved her arm slightly to allow Inuyasha to move around to the front of her. He was very hesitant, but Kagome’s actions were telling him it was ok to proceed. Slowly he began to wash the front of her cleaning her neck and chest moving down to her stomach avoiding her breast.
“Inuyasha . . . It’s ok. You can finish. I need you to help me and you missed a spot,” Kagome said blushing even more as she looked away.
“Um . . . are you sure? ,” Inuyasha asked, increasingly nervous.
“Yes I’m sure. I will do the rest myself, but I will need you to rinse ok? ,” she replied.
Inuyasha reached around very slowly in front of Kagome to wash her breast with the towel. Inuyasha and Kagome were now wearing matching blushes but couldn’t see each others face in their current position. Kagome tried to remember that Inuyasha was only helping her, but the feel of his caress, even through a towel caused a spike in her arousal. Inuyasha immediately picked up on the scent and was equally aroused at the thought. Kagome turned around in the chair to look at Inuyasha. Inuyasha stared into her big brown eyes and moved in closer until their faces were so close they could feel each others warmth. The space between them closed and they were drawn into a soft, slow, passionate kiss. Their tongues gently caressing in each others mouth.
Inuyasha’s hands wondered all over Kagome’s naked body, caressing her breasts, until he reached one of the bandaged areas on Kagome’s body and he snapped back to reality. ‘What are we doing? What am “I” doing? Kagome is in the hospital recovering from nearly dying and I am trying to do way too much too fast. I gotta stop this right now,’ Inuyasha thought to himself as he broke the kiss and gave Kagome back the towel.
“I think we better stop now. We are in the hospital bathroom of all places. You were badly hurt and you are still recovering. Besides, you need to finish washing up so I can rinse you off. Visiting hours start soon and your mom will be the first person here I’m sure,” Inuyasha said with a smile as his mind told him this was the right thing to do but his body was telling him other things as he tried to adjust the painful tent in his pants.
Kagome didn’t want to stop but she knew that Inuyasha had the right idea. Her mom would be here soon, and knowing her mom, maybe even early. With that thought she smiled and finished washing herself up the best she could. Then Inuyasha rinsed the soap off and handed her a towel to help her dry off.
“Thank you Inuyasha,” Kagome said as she smiled brightly at him.
“For what? Helping my girlfriend when she needs me. I will always be here for you,” Inuyasha smiled back at her as they finished drying her off to put her lotion and robe on.
Just before they were finished, Mrs. Hiragashi had entered the room but didn’t see any signs of Kagome or Inuyasha.
“Kagome sweetheart, are you in the bathroom? ,” Mrs. Hiragashi called out assuming that could be the only place she would be.
Kagome and Inuyasha looked at each other wide-eyed. This was going to be totally embarrassing. Inuyasha helped Kagome up to her feet, fully clothed by now, and helped her out the bathroom to her bed. Mrs. Hiragashi was indeed surprised to see Inuyasha walk out of the bathroom with Kagome. But after she had thought about it, she figured she would expect nothing less from the young man who was obviously in love with her daughter. He cared for Kagome so much. He even refused to leave the hospital after all.
“Sorry mom. I couldn’t wait any longer to get washed up. And the doctor insisted that I get someone to help . . . ,” Kagome began to explain before being cut off by her mother.
“It’s fine dear. You don’t have to explain anything to me. I know that you’ll need help with things and I’m glad that Inuyasha was here to help you,” she smiled at Kagome warmly then looked at Inuyasha a smiled at him as well.
“Oh and I have someone here who has been dying to see you,” Mrs. Hiragashi looked toward the door and called out “It’s ok sweetie, you can come in now.”
The shadow of a short figure walked in the door way.
“Kagome!! Inuyasha!!,” Souta shouted in excitement as he ran through the door and toward Kagome to hug her, but was intercepted by Inuyasha instead. Inuyasha leaned down to his level and whispered in his ear.
“Heya squirt. Kagome may not be quite ready for such a big hug yet. So be gentle when you hug her ok,” Inuyasha said with a wink and a smile.
Souta smiled back at his idol and walked up to Kagome slowly and wrapped his arms around her gently, barely squeezing her.
“How’s it going runt? ,” Kagome giggled and ruffled his hair.
“Hey be nice Kagome. You had me so worried. Mom wouldn’t let me come to see you. So I figured it must have been pretty bad. Does it hurt? Hey do you have scars? ,” Souta said excitedly, forgetting he was just sad a second ago.
“Yes, I have wounds. But they are bandaged up so there will be no peeking,” she looked down at Souta and laughed at his reaction. That was her brother . . . one minute he was like a grown up the next he was just a little kid.
“That’s ok. I’ll wait til they heal up then you’ll have some really cool scars,” he smiled at her. “You really did scare me though. I’m so glad you’re gonna be ok,” he laid his head on her chest and held her again.
“Oh Souta, it’s ok now. Everything is gonna be fine now,” she wrapped her arms around him to gently hug him back.
“Ok you guys. I think Kagome should be getting back in the bed now,” Mrs. Hiragashi interrupted.
“I agree. You have been out of the bed for a while and you probably need to get some rest before Sango and Miroku show up,” Inuyasha added.
Inuyasha helped Kagome to the bed and tucked her under the covers. He sat down in the chair next to her, with Souta and Mrs. Hiragashi to keep them company.
After about an hour of conversation and catching up with what was going on with Souta while she was in the hospital, she fell asleep.

Kagome woke up to the sounds of people having a conversation in her room. Once her eyes finally focused, she noticed that her mom and Souta weren’t there but now Miroku and Sango had arrived. And to her surprise two other special visitors showed up as well.
“Kagome, you’re finally up. We weren’t too loud, were we? We tried to be quiet as possible so you could get your rest,” Sango greeted her best friend.
“No. You didn’t wake me,” Kagome smiled at Sango and looked over at the boys watching something on the tv.
Finally a commercial came on and the boys too noticed that Kagome was awake.
“Kagome!! I’m so glad that your ok,” Shippo said excitedly, rushing over to her bedside.
“Hey Shippo. It’s so good to see you. Thank you for coming to see me. It really means a lot to know I still have some really good friends,” she said remembering how her and Kikyo used to be best friends, and feeling a little sad about how things turned out.
“Of course we would come and see you and I’ve even brought you something,” Kouga interrupted holding a single red rose in his hand, offering it to Kagome.
“Hey, where were you hiding that? ,” Inuyasha frowned at the thought that Kouga had given Kagome, his girl, a flower.
“Inuyasha be nice. Kouga was just being the sweet guy he is. How is Ayame doing? ,” Kagome addressed Kouga.
“Oh, she’s fine. She wanted to come but she had to go out of town. She said once she got back she would come to see as well. I must say that you are looking quite beautiful, even under these circumstances,” Kouga grabbed her hand and kissed it.
Kagome just giggled in return. Which made Inuyasha frown and fold his arms while giving Kouga an intimidating look. He walked over to Kagome’s bedside and kissed her on the forehead.
“I’m going to get something to drink. Did you want anything Kagome? ,” he was still giving Kouga that same look. You would never know they had been friends for years.
“No thank you Inuyasha. I’m fine, but thank for asking. That was really sweet,” she smiled at him and pulled him down for a chaste kiss. She knew he needed that little ego boost in front of Kouga.
Inuyasha left everyone to their conversations and headed down the hall to the cafeteria. Before he could even get to where he was headed, he noticed a face that he wished he would never see again.
“What the hell are you doing here? ,” he said in almost a growl.
“I didn’t come to cause any trouble. I just wanted to apologize to Kagome and let you guys know what going on with Kikyo,” Hojo said nervously.
“I could care less what’s going on with Kikyo and as for you . . . you sure got some nerve showing your face after what you’ve done to Kagome. But don’t worry, she’s over that now. Moved onto bigger and better things,” Inuyasha said with a cocky smirk.
“I’m sure she has and I’m happy for her. But regardless of how I was wrong, I know Kagome and she will want to know what’s going on with Kikyo. Kikyo is worse off than you guys think,” Hojo lowered his head and looked down to the ground.
For some reason, Inuyasha felt like maybe he should let Hojo speak his peace. Inuyasha sighed and motioned for Hojo to follow him to Kagome’s room. When they reached the doorway the group inside fell into awkward silence.
“Hojo, what are you doing here? ,” Kagome looked at him and frowned then looked at Inuyasha with a confused look. She couldn’t figure out why Inuyasha even let him get this far.
“I know, I know. I wasn’t gonna even let him pass me when I say him, but he says that he wants to give you an apology and claims you will want to know what the authorities did with Kikyo,” Inuyasha gave Hojo that look he gave Kouga earlier and crossed his arms.
Kagome was silent for a minute, with a blank expression across her face. Everyone was wondering what she was thinking, what she was going to say. Finally she broke her silence and spoke.
“Ok. I will talk to Hojo. But I think I need to speak with him alone,” Kagome sat up in the bed.
“Ok, Kagome. I think it’s time me and Shippo get going anyway. We have a lot of errands to run today. But we will be back to visit you tomorrow, ok ,” Kouga said with a smile as he got up from the chair and motioned to Shippo that they were leaving.
“Yeah Kagome, we’ll be back to see you. I’m so glad that you’re ok,” Shippo reached over and gave her a hug.
“Thank you, Shippo . . . Kouga. I’m so happy you guys came to see me. I will see you tomorrow then,” she smiled back and waved to them as they walked out the room.
Miroku looked at Sango and got up from his chair.
“Come on my koi, I think I want to get something from the cafeteria,” Miroku said reaching out for Sango’s hand.
She hesitated a second, not really wanting to leave Kagome alone with Hojo but gave in and got up to take Miroku’s hand to leave.
Once they were gone, Kagome looked over at Inuyasha.
“Come on Kagome. You don’t really expect me to leave you alone with him do you,” Inuyasha half whined his statement to Kagome.
Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and motioned for him to come over closer to her. She pulled his ear to her mouth and whispered in it.
“It’s fine Inuyasha. I’ll be ok. I’m ok with everything that’s happened, now that I have you,” she moved away from his ear to look into his eyes and closed in to kiss him passionately. She knew that would satisfy his ego and let him know that she was all for him. She broke the kiss and gave him one last peck on the lips.
“Ok fine, but ‘Hobo’s’ got ten minutes and then I’m coming back in. Guess I’ll go find Sango and Miroku in the cafeteria,” he sighed and gave Hojo the look again before he left the room.
Kagome looked at Hojo and motioned for him to sit down in one of the chairs next to her bed.
Hojo took a deep breath and began to speak.
“Kagome, I truly am sorry for hurting you the way I did. The truth is I never deserved a girl like you. You are amazing person and I’m glad that you have finally found what you deserve and need. Someone to love you unconditionally. I saw the look on Inuyasha face when you were hurt. And the way he responded to the whole incident. It was almost like he had been in your place . . . like he could feel what you felt. I could have sworn I saw tears in his eyes. I’ve never seen such a display of feeling for someone before. Please accept my apology and know that I hope one day we can be friends again. You truly are a special person,” Hojo looked at Kagome with a sorrowful expression.
“Hojo, to be honest, I have forgiven you already. Once I realized I was in love with Inuyasha, I felt guilt for getting so upset about you and Kikyo. The fact was that I wasn’t in love with you. I thought I was. But what I feel now with Inuyasha, I’ve never felt before. I’m truly happy with him.”
“And that’s all I want for you . . . for you to be happy. And I’m glad you found somebody who truly does make you happy. You deserve that.” Hojo smiled at Kagome and then looked to the floor and his expression quickly changed. “Do you want an update on Kikyo?”, Hojo asked hesitantly.
“Sure, go ahead,” Kagome motioned for him to continue.
Hojo let out a huge sigh.
“Well they didn’t put her in jail like I thought she was definitely headed. Not that it would have mattered, with all her parents’ money and influence she would have been right back out anyway. The thing is they are saying that she is mentally unstable and the cause of that is a brain tumor. They want to do surgery on her this week to remove it. I went to see her but she was out of it. I think it’s the medication they had her on. She didn’t even speak to me.”
“Wow. That’s terrible. I wonder if that has anything to do with how her attitude changed completely from when we were friends,” Kagome looked at Hojo with a puzzled look.
“Well, I guess I never thought about that. You could be right. That could mean she was never as bad as she seemed. But that doesn’t excuse my actions,” Hojo lowered his head again.
“Don’t worry Hojo. I told you it’s ok now.”
Just then Inuyasha came back from the cafeteria. He was trying to be patient but he couldn’t take it anymore.
“So . . . Hojo it was nice seeing you. Sorry you have to go now,” Inuyasha said sarcastically.
“Inuyasha, you don’t have to be so rude. Hojo was just here to apologize and update me on Kikyo,” Kagome got out before being interrupted by Inuyasha.
“You do realize this is the same guy who . . . never mind. Besides, who cares about what happens to Kikyo anyway,” Inuyasha frowned.
“Well after I tell you what happened to her, you may change your mind,” Kagome said with a blank expression.
“I seriously doubt it. She almost killed you Kagome. How can I forgive that? ,” Inuyasha replied.
“What if it wasn’t entirely her fault? ,” Kagome asked him.
Inuyasha just stood there with a confused look.
“Inuyasha, Hojo just explained to me that Kikyo is in a hospital and the doctor’s say that her behavior is caused by a brain tumor. They are going to do surgery this week to remove it.”
Inuyasha’s was a little concerned now. Sure he hated Kikyo for what she did to Kagome, but now her actions were not all her own. And it made him wonder about all of the other things she’s done. Deep down inside he still cared for Kikyo and the thought of her situation did concern him a little. He didn’t say a word, just an expression on his face that was unreadable. Kagome looked at Inuyasha then at Hojo.
“Well, I guess I should be going now. You take good care of her Inuyasha,” Hojo said trying to get any response from Inuyasha.
Inuyasha snapped out of his daze and addressed Hojo.
“Keh, like I wouldn’t,” he said in a smart tone. “You just take care of Kikyo.”
Hojo nodded and turned to leave the room.

After Hojo left Kagome couldn’t help but notice how Inuyasha’s demeanor had changed. He had barely said three words since Hojo left. And he looked like he was in deep thought sitting next to the bed watching the tv.
‘I sure hope he’s ok. I didn’t expect him to react to the news this way. Maybe he still loves Kikyo more than he lets on,’ Kagome thought a little worried about Inuyasha. She reached over and put her hand on top of his. In return, he put his other hand on top of her hand and slowly rubbed it finally looking at her.
“You ok Kagome?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Are you ok, Inuyasha?”
“Yeah. Of course I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be? ,” he said with a hint of nervousness.
“I don’t know. You seemed out of it,” Kagome replied with a pout on her face.
“You’re so cute, you know that,” Inuyasha smiled and cupped her face in his hands, staring into her eyes.
She smiled staring right back before they both moved in closer to each other until their lips met. They kissed chastely right as they heard someone, coughing at the door. Sango and Miroku were back from the cafeteria and had caught the two love birds in their display of affection. Sango blushed as she walked in and Miroku had a dumb grin on his face.
“I think you guys better pace yourself with Kagome’s condition and all. I mean if you want me and Sango can go back to the cafeteria,” Miroku smirked.
“You’re such a hentai Miroku,” Sango popped him in the back of the head.
“Ow! ,” Miroku rubbed the back of his head and pouted.
Kagome giggled and Inuyasha just sighed.
“Well I guess we better update them on the Kikyo situation,” Kagome looked at Inuyasha.
Inuyasha silently nodded indicating for her to go on. After she explained everything to Sango and Miroku, they gave their reply.
“Well I guess that would explain a lot of things that have happened,” Miroku said.
“Yeah, why she’s nothing like the Kikyo me and Kagome have known,” Sango added.
“Well hopefully now she gets the help she needs and will be ok,” Kagome genuinely hoped that Kikyo would be ok.
Inuyasha again was silent. Miroku noticed this and quickly changed the subject.
“Hey, isn’t ‘All My Children’ on now? ,” Miroku said flipping the channels with the remote.
“You watch that stuff? ,” Inuyasha was amazed that Miroku actually admitted something like that.
“Yeah. With all those hot soap opera chick, why wouldn’t I? ,” Miroku smirked but saw the look on Sango’s face and quickly loss the smirk.
“Miroku you are such a baka,” Sango gave him ‘the look’.
“Yes, but I’m your baka my sweet koi,” he smiled and wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into his lap.
The group sat and watched tv as Inuyasha’s thoughts began to wonder again. ‘Kikyo . . . did you really love me after all. I should have been there for you, if only I would have known. I hope you’ll be ok,’ he thought as he continued to sit with his friends.
A/N: This chapter was originally not supposed to be in this story and is part of the reason why the update took so long, that and life has caught up with me. But fear not Chapter 15 is already underway and should be longer and better. I had to give you guys the update on Kikyo and the story line has changed a little so that’s what chapter 14 was for. Chapter 15 will skip ahead a little bit but it’s needed to continue with the story. And good news, though the story is coming to an end soon, there is already a continuation in the making and it will include new characters and more development of characters who may not have had a lot of face time in this part of the story.
