Locked Away
Kagome woke up when Shippo jumped on her stomach. He was very hyper and she groaned as she opened her eyes to look up at him. “Hey Shippo-chan, why are you jumping on me so early?” Shippo looked at her and grinned. “Ojiisan told me to tell you to wake up Kaasan! It’s time for breakfast!” Kagome looked at him oddly. “My father told you that? I didn’t even hear him come in…” Shippo smiled. “Course you didn’t momma. You were really tired this morning and you slept through it all…” She smiled and grabbed him around the waist. “Well then, let’s find me a kimono to wear and go and get breakfast!” Giving him a hug, she sat him on the ground and she got up, going to the huge closet filled with many different kimonos. Looking through them she pulled a blue one out that had black and purple designs on it.
“Hey Shippo, how about this one?” she asked as she showed it to him. Shippo raised his head and looked at the kimono. “Ooh that’s pretty momma. I like the color…It goes with your eyes…” She smiled softly. “I like it a lot too.” Turning it over, she found that the front of it was covered with black crescent moons and stars. “Kirei…” she said as she gazed at it. “Hey Shippo, I have the perfect outfit for you. I wanted to see you in it…”
Shippo looked at her curiously. “Huh? What do you mean Kaasan?” Kagome laughed. “Let me get dressed first, then I’ll show you it.”
Tying her obi around her waist, she went back to the huge closet and dug out her backpack. A small navy blue haori and ruby red hakama pants were folded inside and she pulled them out. Showing them to Shippo she smiled. “It’s different than what you usually wear but I thought it would look good on you…” Shippo looked at them curiously. “Well…I could try them on…I like the haori momma…” Kagome smiled. “That’s all I’m asking Shippo. You don’t have to wear it. I just want you to try it on and see if you like it…” He nodded his head in agreement. “You can try them on in here…” She ushered him inside the adjoining room and closed the door. “Come and show me when you’re done ok Ship?” He grinned a bit and replied, “Ok momma!”
He quickly undressed, then stepped outside when he finished. He liked the way the clothes felt against his skin but he also wanted to know what Kagome thought about it. “What do you think momma? I like it…It’s different.” She grinned at him. It suits you well, Shippo-chan!” His head tilted to the side. “Really? Do you think?” I sort of felt like I was betraying my parents when I was putting them on. My okaasan had bought this Hakama and haori for me before she…” He trailed off and tears ran down his face. Kagome rushed over to his side and picked him up, hugging him to her. “You’re not betraying your parents at all Shipp. They want you to be happy, they don’t want you to be alone. And plus, you said that you liked the outfit too…Do you think that your mom would’ve liked it?” He looked up with teary eyes at her and after a while, a small grin spread over his little face. “Yeah. She would’ve wondered where you got it from.”
Kagome laughed. “It’s from my world actually. I was really surprised when I found it but I knew that It was perfect for you.” He tilted his head to the side. “Really? They still have things like this in your time?” She nodded. “Yeah…I really miss it there…I had it stowed away in my backpack for awhile just because I wanted to wait to give it to you.”
She hugged him closer to her body and walked to the door. “Well, we should go and eat before the food gets cold shouldn‘t we?” He nodded and stared questioningly at the male youkai that had passed right in front of the door. He wasn’t familiar, but he didn’t look like he was out to hurt anyone. Closing the door, Kagome turned herself around and walked briskly to large dining room. Shippo climbed up out of her arms and settled himself onto her shoulders, his head buried in Kagome’s fragrant silver blue hair. Smiling to herself, she opened the doors and stepped inside.
Hiro smiled at Kagome and gestured toward the seat that was open beside Sesshoumaru. “Sit, sit. Eat. The kit will sit near Rin.” Shippo slowly got down from Kagome’s shoulders and went over to the seat beside Rin. “Heya Rin-chan.” Rin smiled at Shippo. “Hello Shippo-chan.” Kagome sat down beside Sesshoumaru and smiled as she saw Mira, Inutaisho, her mother, father, and her friends all around. “Hmmm? Big breakfast? Usually we just split it up…” Midoriko smiled. “We all are going to eat together dear.” Kagome nodded and her mouth watered a bit as she saw the different kinds of sushi, rice, soups, and green tea that was set on the table before her. She wasn’t that hungry, but she’d pick what she’d want out of it. As soon as everyone had their own plate of food in front of them, they chorused itadakimasu quite happily, and began eating.
Breakfast was going off with out a hitch. No disturbances, and there was a comfortable silence. The light touches of Kagome’s tail to Sesshoumaru’s leg had gone unnoticed to all but those two. He glanced her way a few times, and she found that her upper thigh was caressed gently by his tail. It was just a slight touch, but enough for her to feel it and glance his way for a moment in slight confusion. She didn’t think that he’d actually do something like this, but he’s proving her wrong on some things.
She grinned to herself. He was more playful than he originally led on…’I could use that to my advantage…Especially If I feel like blackmailing Fluffy when he gets mean…’ She looked up when Shippo jumped into her lap. “Okaasan! I’m finished, can you take us to the gardens so we can chase Jaken around?” Rin almost did the same thing to Sesshoumaru. Tugging on his hakama, she looked up at him. “Sesshoumaru-sama, can I go play with Shippo-chan and Jaken-sama? Onegai?” She pouted slightly to give it the added affect that she wanted. He glanced down and cursed inwardly. “Hai Rin, you can go and torture Jaken.” Rin cheered happily. “Yoshi! Yay! Kagome-kaasan, let’s go! Rin bounced around Sesshoumaru’s legs and scampered up to Kagome. She grabbed the end of her soft tail and giggled as it twitched. “Oooh! Its so soft!” Her tail flicked in front of Rin’s face, making her laugh her little bell like laugh, and Kagome found herself smiling contentedly.
Grabbing her with her tail, Kagome stood up and bought Shippo in her arms along with her as she stood up. “Are you coming Sesshou?” She purred slightly. Sesshoumaru nodded slightly. Just getting away from everything that he had to do right now would be a needed break. He didn’t want to be near his parents right now either because he had this suspicious feeling that they were planning something. And when His mother starts to plan something, It really ends up with him being in a bad position for a while before it ends up working in his favor.
“Kaasan, can you play with us too? I want you to teach us how to play um…I know! Football!” Kagome smiled down at Shippo. “Hai Shippo, I think that even Sesshou would like that. Especially if Jaken was the ball.” He smiled to himself and gripped his okaasan’s kimono as they approached the gardens, meeting Jaken along the way.
“Perfect! Jaken, you’re coming with us!” Jaken paled considerably as he saw Kagome’s devious smile and he shuddered as he heard both Shippo’s and Rin’s joyous laughs. Just as he was about to make a run for it, Sesshoumaru’s voice stopped him. “Jaken, where are you going? You are to entertain the children.” He said frostily. Looking up, because he almost ran into his lord, he turned almost white with hear and stuttered out, “Y-yes…m-milord…” and scuttled down to the gardens with a scowl present on his face.
“Jaken-saamaaaa!!!” Rin yelled as she searched the gardens for him. He had hid from the children, hoping that it would save him some trouble for a while. Shippo had found him shivering with fear in the bushes. “Here he is Rin-chaan!!!” he shouted as he pulled the imp out by his little stubby arm. Jaken’s huge bulbous eyes widened even more as he saw the fountain not too far from them. “N-no! n-not that!” Both Rin and Shippo pushed him towards the cold, deep fountain, and laughed as he fell in. He broke the surface, spluttering angrily. “You horrible children! Sesshoumaru-saama!!!!” He wailed as he looked toward the spot where Kagome and Sesshoumaru was sitting. Kagome sighed irritably. “You just don’t know when to quit, don’t you?” As if it were just on instinct, a lavender whip appeared between her fingers.
“Rin-chan, Shippo-chan, will you please move?” They nodded and scuttled over to the rosebushes, knowing that if they didn’t, they could’ve gotten hurt. “You ignorant toad! Sesshou doesn’t want to deal with you, and You are going to be nice to my pups, do you understand me?” She ground out as her whip, which was laced with both purification and her youki, lashed at Jaken’s back twice. Her whip disappeared in a shower of light, and Jaken collapsed against the fountain’s edge in pain. “Yes milady! I understand!” he gasped with painful breaths.
Rin hid against Shippo as she saw one of her caretakers getting hurt by her okaasan. “Shippo-kun…Why is okaasan hurting Jaken-sama?” She said quietly. Shippo looked down at her with aqua green eyes. “I think it’s because he doesn’t understand that we shouldn’t be hurt and she’s hurting him instead so he understands…” Rin sniffled and buried her face deeper into his hakama. “I still don’t like his p-punishment though…” He nodded to himself. “Yeah, it’s a bit harsh, isn’t it?” He hugged Rin to him, and stared at Kagome. “Kaasan…” He whispered softly.
Sesshoumaru smirked as he saw the pitiful state that the imp was in. His ears twitched as a faint breeze blew threw the gardens. Standing fluidly, he jumped up into the highest tree that was in the gardens. “Miasma…” he growled angrily. “That hanyou dares to set foot on my lands!” Kagome looked up worriedly, just as she caught whiff off the poisonous miasma on the southern winds. “Sesshou…He’s trying something. I don’t like this.”
She stood up fast, and with the shaking of the earth underneath her, she knew instinctively that he was here. “Rin, Shippo, to my room now!” She said quickly and scooped them into her arms, pushing them towards the doors. They looked back once, but knew not to question her. Almost running to her room, they made it there with no words exchanged between them. Locking the door behind them, they waited, and cuddled against each other, not knowing exactly what was going on.
Kagome and Sesshoumaru growled angrily to themselves, and walked with a fast pace down the hallways, to find their parents. “Kaasan, Tousan, we must destroy these demons before they destroy the castle!” Midoriko’s eyes flashed and Hiro growled angrily. “We have to gather Inutaisho an Mira. As well as your friends as well. Do you know where they are?” Kagome shook her head slowly then her eyes shone silver as she let out a howl that resonated through the whole castle.
Mira, Inutaisho, Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Kirara, Youko, and Kentaru burst into the room. “Kagome-chan? What’s the matter?” She looked at them seriously. “Naraku is just outside the castle. Both Sesshoumaru and myself could smell the miasma when we were in the gardens with Shippo and Rin.” Sango clutched the strap that was connected to her Hiraikotsu tightly in suppressed anger. “Well, what are we waiting for? We can’t let the bastard attack the place, so let’s attack him instead!” Everyone there couldn’t agree more with Inuyasha’s words, and found that all of them were outside within minutes.
Naraku’s ominous presence was felt everywhere. “kukukukukuku” He chuckled loudly. “The little miko has gathered a larger group of allies to stop me. It is futile none the less.” He smirked as his crimson eyes glowed with suppressed anger, and nonetheless, a swarm of youkai were upon them.
Kirara transformed within a ball of flames, and Sango jumped on top of her. “Hiraikotsu!” Her boomerang sliced through many youkai, but instead of clearing a path, more just took over from where the slain youkai had fallen. Miroku was contemplating on using his kazanna, but with every time that Naraku had shown up, his poisonous insects were there as well. So instead of using that, he used his staff, slicing the bodies of many youkai that came at him.
Half of the swarm was centered on attacking Kagome and the group that was around the castle doors. “Kyaaaa!!!” Kagome screeched as she felt one of Naraku’s slip around her waist. Sesshoumaru sliced through one insignificant youkai after another and growled angrily as he whirled around to see Kagome in Naraku’s grasp. Let her go hanyou.” he growled, his eyes narrowing with anger. Naraku chuckled. “Why Sesshoumaru, are you showing affection for a miko? You’ve become weak.” Sesshoumaru’s eyes flashed red with anger, and as he leapt at Naraku, a loud growl left his lips. Miasma was surrounding them, and at Kagome’s hip, there looked to be some sort of forced seal forming. Slicing through many tentacles, he cut Naraku’s body cleanly in half, and as Kagome fell, looking at him with a pain filled look, he caught her in his arms. “Sesshou…It hurts…Aggh…”
A barrier surrounded the many pieces that Naraku was now in and flew away, leaving the miasma that was still present. “Coward!!!” Inuyasha roared as he continued to slice through the remaining youkai. Midoriko glanced at him briefly, then let her arrow fly true straight through several bodies of lesser demons. “Forget about him for now. We have to deal with these pests, and most of all, he did something to my daughter!” Inuyasha scoffed and tilted the Tetsusaiga to the side. It pulsed and he grinned. “Kaze no Kizu!” He roared as the huge sword crashed down with the weight of the windscar’s affects.
Miroku coughed as he lifted part of his sleeve over his mouth. He knew that there was a way to dispel the miasma, it just would take time. Looking up, he saw that Sango was still in the skies, exterminating the rest of Naraku’s youkai. “Sango!” Sango swooped down and with her Hiraikotsu, she had cut the dragon youkai’s head off that was behind him. “Hai houshi-sama?” she asked as she got off Kirara, and Kirara went after a youkai that was above the pair. “I was wondering if you could cover me while I dispel this miasma. That way, it will be easier to see how many youkai are left, and it will be easier to breathe.” Sango nodded and ran back out in front of him as ten confused demons clamored about in the air. Miroku took this time to place a barrier around himself, concentrating his powers into his staff, and putting his good faith into Sango.
The miasma, with Miroku’s strong will, was dispelled, and Miroku’s barrier receded. “There’s not that many left…” Sango panted. “Hiraikotsu!” Naraku’s youkai were reduced to very few now. There were enough to count by hand. Miroku looked up at them with hardened violet eyes. “Naraku’s poisonous insects are gone now. Kazanna!” The massive wind tunnel had quickly sucked in the remaining youkai, and when they were all gone, he closed it hurriedly. “Sango, we must hurry. I heard Kagome-sama scream earlier.”
Hurrying over to where Sesshoumaru was standing, and holding Kagome as well, Sango and Miroku looked to him for an answer. “What happened to my little sister? What did that bastard do to her?” Inuyasha growled angrily. To him, it felt like it was all his fault. Kagome was unconscious, and with that black weird looking thing against her hip, that just gave him shivers up his spine. It reeked of Naraku’s scent, and he wanted it off of her body so her pure scent wouldn’t be tainted by that bastard. “You will pay Naraku.” Inuyasha said softly.
